** Upon first taking possession of Yuji's body, [[AncientEvil Ryomen Sukuna]] revels at being able to feel the moonlight on his skin once more, before growing excited at how the modern world is crawling with people... [[BloodKnight and how he can't wait to slaughter them all]].
** Satoru Gojo introduces himself by, in quick succession, making light of how battered Megumi is and how Yuji has become Sukuna's vessel, telling Yuji to let Sukuna take possession for a few seconds, then toying with Sukuna as the latter tries to kill him, showing that [[MellowFellow he rarely takes things seriously]] and that [[WorldsBestWarrior he has more than enough power to back up his attitude]].

** The introduction of the four Dark Masters sets up all of their personalities almost instantly. [[MonsterClown Piedmon]] sadistically laughs over the fear humanity is displaying and treats the whole thing like a flashy performance; [[SeaSerpent MetalSeadramon]] declares his desire to cut out the middleman and wipe out all the humans at once, showing that he prefers to get things done quickly and easily; [[LivingToys Puppetmon]] counters that such a thing would be boring and how he'd prefer to pick the humans off one by one, showing his [[PsychopathicManchild childlike mentality]] as he treats the endeavor like a game; and [[CyberneticMythicalBeast Machinedramon]] remains [[TheQuietOne silent]] and glares menacingly in the corner, foreshadowing his [[NoNonsenseNemesis ruthlessly efficient nature]].

* ''Manga/GunslingerGirl'' first shows Henrietta, the quiet little girl with a violin case, break a mans' neck with said violin case, before opening fire up on a group of thugs with a P90 submachine gun...[[DissonantSerenity ''remaining completely expressionless.'']] It quickly switches to a montage of her training, which she tackles in the same emotionless, mechanical fashion. The next scene, though, has her puddling up when her handler admonishes her for being reckless, effectively demonstrating that for all the killing, she's still a little girl.
** In the first episode featuring Triela we see her acting as a CoolBigSis to Henrietta, then it changes to her running down a Mafia mook who she takes down with a few aimed blows, then shoots without orders when he draws a gun, then she backchats her handler over the matter when he reprimands her -- all establishing Triela as a kind, mature, skilled ActionGirl with a touch of independence and rebelliousness unusual in these brainwashed cyborg killers.

Lutecia's first scene is her hamming it up while boasting to her familiar about all the modifications they've made to their house in anticipation for her friends coming to visit (complete with maniacal laughter and MilkingTheGiantCow), letting us know very quickly that this is ''not'' the same {{Emotionless|Girl}} DarkMagicalGirl from [[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers four years prior]].

** The debut of Erza makes a lot of her key traits clear: she's really strong, serious but well meaning, puts as high of an expectation on others as she does herself, has her own odd traits, and not the most socially graceful, traits that the series going forward elaborates on. This is particularly the case, where her full debut combines several chapters worth of moments establishing Erza into one episode.

** Aizen gets one as well, but not when we first see him. In fact: his moment comes when he [[spoiler: stabs his devoted subordinate Momo after revealing he's alive]], and effectively saying in his calm tone that he really didn't care what he just did to her. The rest of the Soul Society arc forever establishes him as the main villain and [[BigBad Big Bad]].

Considering we know that a) Mayuri ''hates'' having his lab messed with and b) is rather lacking in sanity, that he'd react in such a way nicely highlights what kind of badass we're dealing with.

* In the ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' anime, Tornado is first seen being deployed to deal with what can best be described as a talking Godzilla knockoff. Immediately after she lands, she gets a call from her bosses telling her to come back and gets into an argument with them. When the monster tries to give its MotiveRant, she yells at it to [[BigSHUTUP shut up]] until she gets off the phone. Then when it tells her nothing short of a meteor can kill it, she calmly says she'll just have to get one of those, uses her powers to nonchalantly '''''pull one out of space''''', and literally liquefies the monster with it. That's Tornado in a nutshell: Cool and composed one moment, verbally abusing someone like an acrimonious parent the next and so ludicrously powerful that she can always get away with it.

This is ''the'' Witch that threatens Mitakihara and has done so in the many, many GroundhogDayLoops Homura has gone through, the one that has caused Madoka's death in previous timelines.

* ''Manga/RecordOfRagnarok'': Sasaki Kojiro's first appearance practically sums up his character. He volunteers to go for his round instead of waiting for Brunhilde to pick him. His appearance is that of an elderly man, which seemingly contradicts the InUniverse rule where all human combatants take the form of their golden age (i.e., their youth). The next thing he does is to recover a falling milk jug and ''every single bit of milk in it'' with a swing of his sheathed sword. He then proceeds to enjoy a meal consisting of the milk he just recovered, plus the salmiak pies on the floor (which is said to taste awful), a peculiarity that none would expect from a Japanese old fella like him. Finally, he reveals he has been pursuing the way of the blade for 400 years since he ascended to the afterlife. All of the aforementioned moments during his first appearance cements him as a man of action, a man of initiative, a peculiar CoolOldGuy, and the MasterSwordsman.
