* CantCatchUp: Although not as obvious as ''Z'' since everyone in the cast remains useful to various degrees, but once Goku surpasses someone they never become his equal again.

Both Tenshinhan (after Goku manages to defeat Piccolo Daimaoh) and Yamcha (when he hears that Goku is training under Kami-sama) note this in-story.

* DesperationAttack: As a child, Goku only uses the Kamehameha as a last resort, because it trains most of his energy and he can only fire it once or twice before succumbing to hunger.

Added DiffLines:

** Mercenary Tao crushes Goku on their first meeting. Goku only manages to astonish him by not dying from a few hits, but fails to do any damage to the assassin. It's only because of Tao overlooking a PocketProtector that Goku survives.

** Krillin is very much this as kid. He tries to beat Goku at the 22nd Tournament by grabbing his tail and pulling the old 'looking over there' trick when that failed. He almost ring-outs Jackie Chun by throwing panties on the ground and kicking him when he dived for them. He also most infamously allows Yamacha to win against the invisible man by causing Master Roshi to nosebleed on him when he pulls down Bulma's shirt.

* CarPorn: While Goku rides on his cloud most of the time, the first story arc has Bulma et al riding in a different vehicle every chapter or so, as ContrivedCoincidence keeps destroying the previous ones. The unlimited number of vehicles is justified by the existence of hoipoi capsules. As the story evolves and the characters have less need for conventional transport, vehicles become less common, but Toriyama still likes to feature them in cover art even when they have nothing to do with the plot.

* BlondesAreEvil: Whenever Launch sneezes, she switches between her two personalities. One personality is an amoral bandit who steals money at gunpoint and has no qualms about unloading her weapon at children. The switch to her evil side is punctuated by her hair changing color to blonde.
* BlondGuysAreEvil: General Blue is among the most brutal and merciless members of the Red Ribbon Army. He's visually depicted as a Nazi, complete with Aryan features.
