Beam Spam: ZCE. "X uses this trope" is not context. He doesn't in the manga, so I can't flesh this out if it's referring to anime padding. Also, Vegeta's on the other side of the series. Beware The Nice Ones: Goku's a violent, socially-awkward wild child with hilariously impolite habits. He's pretty innocent and a good guy but he is far from "the nice one".
* BeamSpam: ** King Piccolo abused this trope in his second battle against Goku. ** Vegeta in particular is notorious for using this... to little effect. * BeeAfraid: When Roshi "trains" Goku and Krillin in the original Dragon Ball... by tying them to a tree with a beehive and watching them freak out.

* BerserkerTears: Goku shred tears as he ran off to avenge Krillin, who was killed by one of Piccolo's minions. * BewareTheNiceOnes: ** Goku is genuinely one of the nicest people in the series. However, if you hurt or worse kill those he cares for he will hunt you down and put the hurt on you. Also, Goku was far less merciful as a kid, having no problem killing those who made him angry. The downfall of the Red Ribbon Army and King Piccolo can vouch for that. ** Android 8 is a pacifist who despises fighting and would rather be destroyed than cause harm to others. However, the moment he thinks Goku has been killed by a bullet in the head, he loses it and punches General White right out of Muscle Tower.

* BigDamnHeroes: Goku pulls this off several times like a pro. He comes to save Bulma and Krillin from General Blue seconds before Krillin's skull got crush in and he rescues Tien before Drum can crush his heart. * BigEater: Goku, so much that he made it a trait for all future Shonen heroes to have.

In the 21st World Tournament, he eats so much that he made it costs Master Roshi all of his tournament winnings to cover the bill. The success of Dragon Ball codified this trope as a trait for all future Shonen heroes to have.

The Bad Guy Wins: No, he doesn't. This is an ending trope. The story has to END with the bad guy on top. Getting really close to ultimate victory and then failing at the last minute is standard fare for villains. Bash Brothers: Not really, no. Goku and Krillin are best friends and they like sparring together, but there's never really a time where they're taking on challenges as a combat duo. The closest they get is a brief segment during the General Blue arc, but they don't even fight him together. Batman Can Breathe In Space: Justifying Edit and Natter. Beam Of Enlightenment: ZCE. Beam O War: True, but still a ZCE and all the examples I can think of are on the other part of the series. If you can think of one prior to Vegeta's Galick Gun, go ahead and readd this with some context.
* TheBadGuyWins: King Piccolo succeeded in everything he wanted. He got the Dragon Balls to give him eternal youth and killed the dragon so no one could ever use the Dragon Balls against him. He also killed a number of the strongest fighters in the world, and seized control of the entire world. Fortunately for everyone his reign was short-lived thanks to Goku. * BarredFromTheAfterlife: Those killed by Piccolo and his minions are forced to spend the rest of eternity in limbo unable to crossover to the afterlife. This was part of the reason why Goku was so desperate to restore the Dragon Balls. * BashBrothers: ** Kid Krillin and Kid Goku. * BastardUnderstudy: Adjutant Black to Supreme Commander Red of the Red Ribbon Army. * BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: ** There's a much earlier, and often ignored example of when Goku used used Nyoibou to extend and put Boss Rabbit and his Mooks on the Moon. You can likely Handwave excuse Goku for him holding his breath, but the rabbits? ** The manga was in a much more comedic setting at the time, and Toriyama once stated he just didn't care. That only made thing worse when you think about the rabbits when Master Roshi (as Jackie Chun) later blew up the moon. * BattleAura: Features distinctive colors for different characters and situations. * BattleStrip: Goku removed his weighted clothes in his rematch against Tien at the 23rd World Tournament. * BeamOfEnlightenment * BeamOWar : This series is likely the Trope Codifier.

Bad Boss: It doesn't "get worse" when Black finds out that Red wanted to get taller. He was always that bad of a boss. It just hadn't been revealed to the audience yet. Also, there's a bit of Word Cruft here, especially in the Piccolo Daimao entry which seems to have confused itself with Justifying Edits. This isn't that complicated; Drum, Tambourine, and Cymbal are demonic Namekian offspring, because Piccolo is a Namekian demon.
** Emperor Pilaf who regularly abuses and even tortures Mai and Shu. However, he is one of the lesser bad bosses in the series since despite his abuses he never kills his allies and does respect them in his owe way. ** Commander Red is a more straight example. He executes his men for failure even if they are partly successful, like having Blue fight Tao despite bring back the Dragon Radar which was much more accurate than their own device. It gets even worse when Black finds out that the quest for the Dragon Balls were all for Commander Red using them to get taller instead of taking over the world.

** King Piccolo is a rare subvert. He does cares for his minions and calls them his children. He also gets upset when one of them is killed and goes out of his way to avenge them. With the above said, he plays this straight with his human minions, who are forced to serve him after he takes over the King Castle. The non-human minions are basically his children since they are birthed from eggs similar to Piccolo Jr. even if they don't seem to share his species, though this could be some form of unknown Namekian magic or magic King Piccolo developed himself and no other Namekian knows, including his son, or at least he nor anyone else is ever shown using or even knowing about.

Badass Normal: "All the humans" don't count. Badass Normal is not relative; characters who can fly, paralyze people with eye beams, stab people in the brain with their tongue, and shoot ki blasts are abnormal.
** Gohan Sr who fought an almost even match with Goku after he single-handedly CurbStomp the entire Red Ribbon Army.
to:
** Before the series began, Gohan Sr who fought an almost even match with Sr. warned Goku after never to look at a full moon, the stimulus that causes his uncontrollable Great Ape transformation. That he lived to give Goku the warning implies that he survived at least one rampage in the past. During the Baba arc, he finally gets a chance to demonstrate his skills. Fresh off of winning second place in the 21st World Tournament and single-handedly CurbStomp dismantling the entire Red Ribbon Army.Army, Goku is stymied by Gohan's skills and fought nearly to a standstill.

** King Piccolo who started off as an aging villain who went on to kick everyone's butt. He completely tore Goku a new one without even trying and Master Roshi outright refused to fight him. He became even more BadAss after he regained his youth. ** Kami who was even more powerful than King Piccolo. * BadassNormal: All the humans, but especially Yajirobe since he can't use energy attacks. He fought evenly with an enraged Goku and killed one of King Piccolo's henchmen in a SingleStrokeBattle.

Badass Adorable: ZCE. Also, Trunks and Goten do not have a "similar dynamic" to Goku and Chi-Chi. What is that even supposed to mean? Besides, they're from the other segment of the series. Badass Grandpa: Roshi was overshadowed much earlier than that. His victory against Goku in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai is the last time he stands out as a fighter among the rest of the cast. By his next fighting appearance, he's Worfing to build up Tenshinhan. Also, the example fails to explain the Grandpa part of the trope.

** Despite being OvershadowedByAwesome by the end, Master Roshi up to the King Piccolo Saga was one of the strongest people in the world. He actually held the title of World Strongest before Goku and his group came along. ** Master Korin the 800 years old house cat. He trained Master Roshi and later Goku.

Arch Enemy: Fair enough. Let me just add this period and flesh out the point at which they become allies. Back From The Dead: In addition to being a ZCE, this trope is meant to describe singular occurrences. When it becomes a regular feature of the setting, as is the case with Dragon Ball, it's Death Is Cheap; already listed further down the page. Badass: A one-word ZCE. Normally I would flesh this out, but with this particular trope, it's hard for any example to not fall into one of the more specific subtropes. Even "everyone is a badass" is World Of Badass, so if someone can think of a way to utilize this trope to add information not covered in the subtropes, go ahead and put it back.
* ArchEnemy: Goku and King Piccolo and later his son Piccolo Jr. Goku despises King Piccolo for murdering Krillin and Master Roshi and made it his personal mission to kill him. Piccolo Jr hates Goku for killing his dad and ruining his plans to take over the world. It isn't until the start of Z that they stopped being enemies

** How Goku learned the Kamehameha. He also learned the After Image Technique after seeing it once and managed to improve upon it after seeing it used a second time with a double. He also learned the Solar Flare after seeing it used only twice and used it against Tien, its creator, at the next tournament. In the 22nd tournament he copied King Chapa's Hasshu-ken, Eight-Arm Fist, in his fight against Tien. ** Tien, much like Goku, learned the Kamehameha by watching Yamcha use it. Yamcha and Krillin also learned the Kamehameha from observation since Master Roshi never taught them.

Although you may have a point about the Red Ribbon Army, to say that King Piccolo and Piccolo do not have a personal relationship is factually wrong. Goku personally goes after King Piccolo for killing his friends and Piccolo wants to kill Goku for murdering his father. The narrator even calls King Piccolo is arch enemy.

Giran being revived by the Dragon Balls is not a moral judgment of his character. The wish made at the end of the Piccolo Daimao arc was to revive Piccolo's victims. Unlike the Buu revival, there was no "only the good ones" qualifier.
** Commander Red. Sent countless of his own men to their deaths and ruined the lives of many others just so he could obtain the Dragon Balls to grow taller. Officer Black shot him personally in the head. ** Giran was murdered by Tambourine after terrorizing an animal village and stealing food. He was eventually revived by the Dragon Balls, which implied he had some redeeming qualities despite being a total jerkass.

All Girls Want Bad Boys: Tense. Also, as much as I hate to cut that part because General Blue is totally gay, it's never actually revealed to be so. Interpretation, even glaringly obvious ones, is for the YMMV; this section is about hard facts. Alternate Continuity: Adaptation tropes go on the page for the adaptation, not the source. The Dragon Ball manga is not an alternate continuity, and therefore does not exhibit this trope. Arch Enemy: Neither of these examples are Arch-Enemies. They're just Enemies that Goku fought over the course of his adventures. They aren't especially personal, they don't have a deep and special relationship with him, they aren't dark mirrors of what he could become, etc. Artistic Age: "This is justified because he's a midget." Um, no, being a midget doesn't explain why Krillin also appears to be frozen in time for four years.
* AIIsACrapshoot: Android 8 was made to be an unstoppable killing machine. Instead, the army gets a pacifist who refused to fight even in the face of death. He even hides the Dragon Ball from the army so they wouldn't execute the local village.
to:

** Bulma developed a crush on Yamacha despite him trying to rob and kill them. ** She also fell for General Blue who was also trying to kill her and steal the Dragon Balls. Unlike Yamacha, he didn't return Bulma's feelings and found her disgusting. This is in part due to him being gay. * AlternateContinuity: The non serial movies are direct retellings of earlier sagas distilled into movie format, entirely incompatible with the manga and anime series. The 10th anniversary special, The Path to Power is another continuity retelling Goku's origins with the Red Ribbon Army and Muscle Tower.

When they made things too personal for Goku, he swiftly and mercilessly put an end to them. This in turn led to the events of the Android/Cell Saga.

Achilles Heel: Grammar and tense adjustment. Action Bomb: Misuse. An Action Bomb is a character that deliberately self-destructs as an attack. Murasaki was attempting to blow up Android 8 as a punishment for not obeying orders and attacking Goku. Aliens Among Us: The example doesn't explain the trope. Also, as an ancient demon king and God, respectively, Piccolo and God don't really qualify as "among us".
