*** Even in ''Super,'' decades after every non-Saiyan has been DemotedToExtra and Goku has literally become a god, Chiaotzu's telekinesis still manages to hold him in place longer than the efforts of the rest of the cast combined.

** In the manga, there's a scene where a female Red Ribbon officer, Colonel Violet, [[TheSmurfettePrinciple (and apparently the only one in the whole army)]] presents Commander Red with a Dragon Ball. In the anime adaption of that episode, not only do you see her retrieve it, but later, [[GenreSavvy upon realizing that Goku's attack is going to spell the end of the Army]] she loots Red's riches and gets out of Dodge.

** King Piccolo started off as an aging villain who went on to kick everyone's butt. He completely tears Goku a new one without even trying and Master Roshi outright refuses to fight him. He becomes even more BadAss after regaining his youth.

* ComedicSociopathy: All the main characters, especially in the first story arc, except for Goku. Bulma is a [[SpoiledBrat spoil, rich brat]] who often uses people to get her way. Oolong is a perverted pig who actually drugged Goku and Bulma so he can feel on Bulma while she's unconscious (this was changed in the dub to him wanting to steal the Dragon Balls). Yamcha is a desert thief who has no problem trying to kill a 12 years old Goku. Master Roshi is also a pervert who blackmails Bulma to show him her panties and tries to watch Launch undress. Krillin is a DirtyCoward who cheated Goku out of his meal after he fairly found Roshi's rock, and Launch's evil side is an infamous bank robber who regularly shoots people. So, the audience don't feel sorry for them when misfortune hits. This eventually gets {{Downplayed}} as the series moved on.

* ContinuitySnarl: The ''Manga/OnePiece'' x ''Manga/{{Toriko}}'' x ''Dragon Ball'' special, being a crossover special, brings out a truckload of these.
** Zoro and Zebra stalemating with Vegeta's Galick Gun. [[note]]Zebra's case would make more sense, but even then Vegeta's Galick Gun has enough power to ''obliterate'' an entire planet.[[/note]]
** Luffy and Toriko able to fight with Goku on even footing.
** Gohan being [[TheWorfEffect worfed]] before he gets to do anything.
** Luffy and Toriko and their allies able to last against an enemy Goku and the Z-Fighters had difficulty against.
** Luffy and Toriko being able to damage the Akami whereas Goku needed his Super Saiyan forms to do so.

* BackForTheFinale: In the final two episodes of the anime, Grandpa Gohan makes his last appearance outside of flashbacks. However, these two episodes are part of an anime-only mini-arc and thus this trope doesn't apply to the manga.

* DivineConflict: A lighter and softer version in the Champa Saga. The entire conflict started because Champa wants to show up Beerus by challenging him to a tournament, the winner getting control of the Super Dragon Balls. However, since it is forbidding for the two gods to fight each other, otherwise they would destroy both of their universes, they have mortals do the fighting for them.

* CowerPower: At several points, Oolong and Bulma hides behind Goku whenever someone or something dangerous happens. Bulma looks especially funny since she's so much taller than Goku who is barely three feet tall. She also hides behind Yamcha, which terrifies him at first because of his fear of women.

* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: In the anime, Goku lived for some amount of time with a colony of monkeys. The reason for this was because they used their tails for almost everything they do, and Goku's tail was his biggest weakness. By the time he returned to his friends, he was just as strong with his tail as with the rest of his body.

** Goku and Yajirobe both killed one of Piccolo's children, protected the Dragon Ball, and Goku kills Krillin's murderer. Then Piccolo himself comes, nearly kills Goku and takes the Dragon Ball he's been guarding making all their prior victories meaningless. To add salt to the wound, Piccolo goes on to kill Master Roshi.

Added DiffLines:

* BrutalHonesty: Goku doesn't mince words. He will give his opinion even if you don't asked for it. He calls Bulma [[TheLoad weak and useless]] when she asked to tag along during the Red Ribbon Army Saga.
* BullyHunter: One of the types of people Goku dislikes the most are those who intentionally abuse their power. When Krillin is put down by his former temple classmates for being a weakling, Goku tells Krillin to go all out when he fights them, when before he tells Krillin to hold back to keep from hurting people.
* BullyingADragon: After Goku brings down Muscle Tower, the Red Ribbon Army knows precisely how powerful he is. It didn't stop them from sending troops and their generals to kill him. It all comes to a head after they hire Mercenary Tao to kill him. Tao killed one of Goku's friends. In turn, Goku went after all the Dragon Balls and [[NiceJobFixingItVillain takes out the Red Ribbon while he's at it]].

Added DiffLines:

* ButNowIMustGo: He pulls this more than a few times. In his childhood, he leaves his friends several times to either train, to look for the Four-Star Dragon Ball, or go after someone. He also leaves behind the people he saves like Suno and Upa, some who never sees him again.
