* Tuba and Simon died by being wheeled and turned into ashes by a Ghom in canon. In ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrail'', [[spoiler:Tuba still dies by falling to her death, this time by Simon transformed into Destruction (A black dragon) and Simon is drowned into Toluca Lake by the Phantom.]]

* There are at least three of these so far in [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13612143/1/Gamer-to-Gangster "Gamer to Gangster"]], a SelfInsertFic about the ''VideoGame/SaintsRow'' series.
** First of all, [[DirtyCoward Angelo Lopez]], who canonically dies when the PlayerCharacter blows up the plane that he's trying to escape Stilwater in, here survives the plane exploding, but after he emerges from the wreckage, he's attacked and beaten up by his former girlfriend Luz, who's [[TookALevelInBadass grown more assertive]] with the self-insert's help and [[WomanScorned is feeling vengeful towards him for being an abusive jerk]], and then [[spoiler:his brother Hector, who faked his death in order to go undercover]], shoots him in the head, [[spoiler:because he disapproves of the direction Angelo's taking the Carnales in, and wants [[OnlyICanKillHim to be the one to kill Angelo himself]], because they're still family.]]
** Second, [[TheStarscream Warren Williams]]. Instead of being shot by Tanya Winters as soon as she decides YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness, here, after his failure to kill Benjamin King, the self-insert captures him alive and brings him back to the Saints' hideout before Tanya finds him, so that he can tell [[ScaryBlackMan King]], [[BloodKnight Johnny Gat]], and [[spoiler:a still-living Tony Green]], about how, when he was pretending to be Tanya's chauffeur, he heard her insulting King, Warren, ''and'' [[spoiler:Tony]], and he found her giving Warren a blowjob despite being with [[spoiler:Tony]], and ''then'', Warren called Tanya "Aisha" when he was having sex with her (Johnny Gat is Aisha's on-and-off boyfriend). After that, he leaves all [[spoiler:three]] men to DoWithHimAsYouWill; the next morning, he finds that King, Johnny, and [[spoiler:Tony]] gave Warren a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown until they got bored and then gave him a SlashedThroat, and threw his body into the harbour to be eaten by the fish. [[AssholeVictim Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy]].
** Downplayed with [[DarkChick Tanya Winters]]. She dies pretty much the same as in canon, except the self-insert convinces King to make her death more painful by using a Molotov cocktail on her before dropping her out of a window onto the hood of his car. Also, one of the men who shoots her out of that window is [[spoiler:a vengeful Tony Green]]. Serves you right for [[spoiler:cheating on him and betraying his boss]], Tanya.

* Happens in ''Fanfic/JojosAlienAdventure''. In canon, [[Characters/JojosBizarreAdventureJotaroKujo Jotaro Kujo]] fights against the fake Captain Tennille with [[FightingSpirit Star Platinum]], using his newly learned [[ExtendableArms Star Finger technique]] to stab him in the head and leave him to die. In the fanfic, though, it's [[Characters/Ben10BenTennyson Ben Tennyson]] who fights against him, fighting alongside Emerald Ace (who'd earlier turned into [[AlluringAnglerfish Ripjaws]]) as [[PlayingWithFire Heatblast]], and the two perform a FusionDance to turn into [[OxymoronicBeing Heatjaws]]. As such, Heatjaws heats up the water, boiling the fake Captain Tennille alive and launching him away.
* ''Fanfic/ANewHopeDanganronpa''
** [[spoiler: Mahiru Koizumi was bludgeoned by Peko Pekoyama in canon, but instead gets strangled by Rantaro Amami.]]
** [[spoiler: Rantaro Amami was killed by a shot put to the head by Tsumugi Shirogane who framed Kaede Akamatsu for the crime, but here, he's executed as Mahiru's murderer, being forced to climb up a chilly mountain as Monokumas hack him with climbing picks, eventually causing him to die of bloodless and hypothermia.]]
** [[spoiler: Teruteru Hanamura was boiled alive in a volcano as execution for killing the Ultimate Imposter, but in the fanfic, he's ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice by Nekomaru Nidai after he kills Himiko Yumeno]].
** [[spoiler: After being rebuilt as a {{Cyborg}}, Nekomaru was shattered to pieces by Gundham Tanaka, but here, he was executed for Teruteru's murder by being subjected to massive applause, causing internal damage that makes him bleed out]].
* ''WebVideo/SwordArtOnlineAbridged'':
** Ducker of the Moonlit Black Cats dies with his guild (save for Kirito and an absent Keita) when they run into an ambush. In this abridged series, Ducker, [[AdaptationalSpeciesChange reimagined as an NPC named]] [[AdaptationalNameChange Gary]], warps away from the ambush with the Guild's whole supply of Teleport Crystals. A few episodes later, he returns off-screen, where Kirito [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge gives him a brutal beatdown]].
** In [[LightNovel/SwordArtOnline canon]], Asuna gets a good fight against [[AxCrazy Kuradeel]], only to get the DistressBall, forcing Kirito to finish Kuradeel off. Asuna in TheAbridgedSeries never gets the ball, so she finishes off Kuradeel. This is also a case of TruerToTheText as he was killed by Asuna in the original web novel.
** [[EldritchAbomination The Skull Reaper]], the titular game's 75th boss, puts up a brutal fight with its speed and OneHitKill attacks before it's finally destroyed by the entire raid party. In the abridged series, Skull Reaper only gets a short amount of time to show that it was probably intended to be just as bad as canon (as it one-shots the party tanks) [[ZeroEffortBoss before it glitches out]] [[AdaptationalWimp and self-destructs]]. Of course, [[GameBreakingBug its abrupt death didn't open the exit door, leaving the raid party stranded]].
* ''Fanfic/PowerRangersTakeFlight'':
** Due to [[DecompositeCharacter some]] [[CompositeCharacter arrangements]], Sasha, based off of [[Series/ChoujinSentaiJetman Jetman's]] Maria, inherits the [[OneWingedAngel monster forms of the Sentai's Radiguet]]. In the fic, Sasha is destroyed in battle with the Kestrelzord, melted into biomass by Trask (Radiguet), then cloned and KilledOffForReal by the Rangers. Maria gets a far simpler death when she's killed by Radiguet [[HeelFaceDoorSlam just as she's about to turn good]].
** As for Radiguet, he's killed off in his final monster form when Jet Garuda [[TakingYouWithMe holds him in place for the one-armed Jet Icarus to stab with its Birdonic Saber]]. The equivalent fight [[AdaptedOut cuts out the Skyforce Megazord]], so Sasha is destroyed the first time when the Kestrelzord holds her in place for an errant missile to strike her. Trask, Radiguet's counterpart, is SparedByTheAdaptation instead.
** Fighter Jigen, the first official MonsterOfTheWeek, menaces the Rangers as a giant, but is destroyed when Red Hawk [[AttackItsWeakPoint shoots his ruptured fuel tank with his blaster]]. The fic has the Hawkzord do it instead.
** Faucet Jigen/Spoutfire is destroyed on the ground level by the Bird Bomber/Gravity Ball. The difference is that Spoutfire grows giant afterwards for a mostly off-screen Megazord battle (using carefully edited StockFootage for his growth and destruction).

** Fighter Jigen, the first official MonsterOfTheWeek, is destroyed when Red Hawk shoots his ruptured fuel tank with his blaster. The fic has the Hawkzord blast him instead.

* In "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6297864/1/Big-Doors Big Doors]]", Doctor Soong is prepared to insist that he be left to die on his own in his facility, but when Lal (who survived thanks to Tasha Yar making an appeal to Q for help) reveals that he is her grandfather, Soong is immediately overcome at the notion of spending time with Data's child. Although his pre-existing condition means that he only lives for a month longer even with the medical care on the ''Enterprise'', Soong dies after spending time with his son's family, reflecting to Data and Tasha separately that he's grateful Data has formed an emotionally fulfilling relationship.

** A very slight example, but Ghiaccio's body doesn't fall off from the post his neck was impaled on. Olivia gets his body off when she goes to go hide it.

* In ''Manga/AttackOnTitan''/''LightNovel/{{Gate}}'' fic, ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13322080/1/Freedom-s-Ring Freedom's Ring]]'', quite a few ''Attack On Titan'' characters dies in different circumstances compared to the canon.

** Also [[FemmeFatale Melisandre]]/[[spoiler:Amora the Enchantress.]] In ''Series/GameOfThrones'' canon, [[spoiler:Melisandre dies of old age after the war with the White Walkers is already won.]] Here, [[spoiler:since she's the unambiguously evil Amora,]] she can't be allowed to die in such an anticlimatic way. Instead, she has her eye put out by a brand thrown by Shireen Baratheon, whom she tried to have sacrificed, and then Ser Davos Seaworth/Loki reveals his true identity, and he cuts off one of her hands, pours venom from one of Skadi's snakes into her face, destroying it, and finishes her off with a spear through her stomach. [[spoiler: And Loki adds that since Asgardians arrive in the afterlife with the same appearance they had when they died, Amora will be spending hers deprived forever of her beautiful face- and since she's a VainSorceress, that will be a FateWorseThanDeath for her.]]

* ''Fanfic/TheMountainAndTheWolf'':
** [[spoiler:Gregor Clegane]] is the one to get his eyes popped out and brain crushed.
** [[spoiler:Ramsay Bolton]] is flayed alive with a dull knife, his genitals hacked off and shoved in his mouth.
** [[spoiler:Petyr Baelish]] is told he'll be let go if nine swords thrown while blindfolded miss him. The Wolf doesn't bother with the ninth, stabbing him in the back.
** [[spoiler:The Night King is still shattered by Arya]], but was distracted due to being in a duel with the Wolf.
** [[spoiler:Euron Greyjoy]] is held underwater, pulled up, emasculated, then drowned for good.
** [[spoiler:Gregor Clegane]] (yes, him again) is beaten in a duel by the Wolf, who tags in after [[spoiler:Sandor is beaten.]]
** [[spoiler:Daenerys tries to stand between the Wolf and Drogon]] and takes a hit meant for him.

* ''Fanfic/RWBYDark'': Canonically, Summer Rose is implied to have been killed by Salem. In this story, she is brutally murdered by Ruby who relishes in her death.

* In canon, Tom and his Yeerk were [[KillTheHostBody both killed]] while in cobra morph when Rachel bit him in half. In ''Fanfic/{{Eleutherophobia}}'', Rachel slams into him while he's in human form; [[NamedByTheAdaptation Essa 412]] escapes from his cracked skull, giving Tom ''just'' enough time to morph into a cobra [[SparedByTheAdaptation before he bleeds to death]], then he injects Essa with a more-than-lethal dose of venom.

*** Captain Ginyu is a retroactive variant. Him getting stomped on by Vegeta after swapping bodies with a frog was initially DeathByAdaptation, as Ginyu was still alive in the canon series. As of the ''Super'' anime, Ginyu is dead in both the actual show and the abridged series, only the circumstance is now getting killed by Vegeta while in the body of Tagoma during the Resurrection ‘F’ saga.
** Goku and Yamcha both die differently in Trunks's timeline in the abridged series. In canon, Goku dies of a virus that he was infected with that attacks the heart, while Yamcha is killed by the androids along with the other Z Fighters. In the abridged series, Goku dies of a heart attack that resulted from high cholesterol due to eating too much bacon, and Yamcha is DrivenToSuicide upon finding out Vegeta got Bulma pregnant. A DeletedScene revealing [[BlackComedy he had Puar shapeshift into the rope he hung himself with.]]
** Dr. Wheelo also receives this treatment. In canon, he is killed by Goku's Spirit Bomb. In ''Abridged'', due to now being a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds, the heroes instead wish him a new body...which is hardly able to contain his now ginormous brain, and the ''Broly'' adaptation confirms that he died of brain cancer.

** ** Not only does Edriss 562 die much sooner, but she's quickly killed in the Chee's underground dog park instead of Marco stepping on her while she's dying of Kandrona starvation.

** Edriss 562 (Visser One) dies in ''The Bright Clear Line'', the adaptation of book 30. She died in book 45 in canon.
