** Just to add again because there isn't enough, Xion gets over [[Naruto 600 billion nukes launched at her]]. The hate the poor girl gets because she's in a trio is obscene and must be seen to be believed.

** There also exists a cult following for Sora/Namine that are positively vicious toward Kairi, making her out to be [[RonTheDeathEater dumb, selfish, and evil]] while insisting that Namine is [[PossessionSue perfectly wonderful in every way,]] so she deserves to be with Sora. On the flip side, whenever Sora/Kairi shippers actually turn up, half of them seem to demonize Namine, saying that she messed with Sora's memories and tried to steal him away from Kairi, which she actually did do...under the orders of her [[AbusiveParents evil, abusive guardians]], and once they were defeated, she set things right with Sora. The big kicker to all of this? Kairi and Namine [[spoiler: are the SAME BEING anyway!]] Honestly, it's enough to give one a brain tumor...

* Though people tend to ship in the anime and [[PokemonSpecial main manga]] fandoms more then the games' the ''{{Pokemon}}'' game fandom gets this at times. Not as much as the latter two, but still...

* Though this part of the shipping fandom is small, and rather calm, compared to the [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} anime]] and "main" [[PokemonSpecial manga]], the ''{{Pokemon}}'' fandom gets this. Anime characters get thrown into the game fanfiction for no reason other then counterpart shipping fuel. For [[BigBad Galactic]] related pairings other then Cyrus/Dawn, most Galactic admins are seen as incompetent. In Damion/Dawn fics Lucas is turned into a bumbling idiot, and in certain fics for other pairings Damion is an annoying {{Keet}} who either causes nonsense or appears quickly to prove that he exists.

** The worst part of the ship wars in this fandom? [[MultipleEndings You can choose who ends up with who in this game!]] There is absolutely no reason for anyone to die for anyone's ship! Just pair them with someone else in the party, or have them end up alone if you prefer, and it's just as canon as everyone else's ship!

** Oddly Navi is mostly left out of shipping wars despite WordOfGod being that she was in love with Link, was [[JealousClingyGirl jealous of Link]], and her [[TheScrappy scrappy status]].

* An especially ironic example would be Princess {{Zelda}}, who is frequently [[FanDumb bashed and vilified in {{Slash Fic}}s wherein Link is paired up with]] [[{{Bifauxnen}} her male-looking]] [[YouFailLogicForever ninja alter ego]] (who is promptly [[CanonDefilement retconned to actually *be* male]]), Sheik. But then again, the disconnect between the perpetually DistressedDamsel that Zelda is in game after game and the actually cool FutureBadass that Sheik was may have something to do with it (even though she's gotten much better post ''Ocarina of Time'', extending to ''Wind Waker'' and ''Twilight Princess.''

* The shipping wars over ''FinalFantasyVII'' are pretty brutal. Twelve years and running. Cloud is with Tifa. And despite that, people who wanted him hooked up with Aerith instead have for years grasped at straws, claiming that Square has not proven anything or is even engaging in ShipTease with the Compilation (which depicted Cloud and Tifa ''living together''). Even SE [[WordOfGod stating outright]] that Cloud and Tifa are the official couple of FFVII has not stopped this. All this in spite of the fact that Aerith has been ''[[YouShouldKnowThisAlready dead]]'' since halfway through the original game.

* In ''Fire Emblem 10'', [[MyCountryRightOrWrong main character Micaiah]] occasionally gets bashed for her romance with [[BodyguardCrush Sothe]] and standing in the way of HoYay, on top of getting bashed for being a CanonSue.

* StarOcean2 gets a lot of this between Claude, Rena and Dias; Rena/Dias shippers tend to turn Claude from a good-hearted but very lost teenager into a [[JerkAss weak, whiny jerk]] whose only purpose is to drive Rena into the arms of Dias, who is suddenly smooth, tender and [[ThePornomancer incredibly good in bed.]] In canon, Dias is [[IneffectualLoner very aloof]] and awkward with emotions, and he and Rena spend most of the game thinking of each other as surrogate big brother/little sister despite not being related. But most of those fics never acknowledge that and go straight for the romance.

Fortunately, while it ''is'' possible to both kill off Zelos ''and'' pair Lloyd up with Sheena in the game, you cannot do both at the same time, and if you ''do'' kill off Zelos, you've not only thrown off the canon altogether but thoroughly [[OfficialCouple set Lloyd up with Colette]], SoYeah.

* Amy Rose in ''SonicTheHedgehog'' (and to some extent, Sally Acorn in the [[ArchieComics Archie]] ''[[Comicbook/SonicTheHedgehog Sonic]]'' comics) is forever reviled by Sonic/Tails slash shippers, a prospect made easier due to her StalkerWithACrush status. The Sally and Amy fans also hate each other's characters, each blaming the others' chosen character for making the series JumpTheShark and {{Flanderization}} destroying theirs.
