In a magical feudal Japan, demons called "Majins" have invaded the wilderness and confined humanity to its cities following the downfall of the powerful bloodlines. As Japan is on its way to become HellOnEarth, the Majins are concentrating around Kyoto, threatening to raze the city. The Jiyubudoka are prompted to organize a martial arts tournament to find out about the strongest men in Japan so the Majins can be repelled... or is it for another goal?\\

FightingGame mechanics are prepared. Also, it has a sequel, ''DarthWiki/BurningRhapsodyNewlight''.

* BadassFamily: The Takarokugai (formerly), the Hajiro (overlaps with BigScrewedUpFamily), Rin's still-unnamed family (though she says most are wannabes), the Hayako (formerly too). Also, the disappeared Seiga clan [[spoiler:represented by half-breed Yasuke]].

Rin commits suicide to exterminate the Majins, Yuun seals himself off with the money, Itami sacrifices herself fighting off the Majins to buy time for Kyoku to beat Yoi, Junichi is unceremoniously killed by a flock of Majins, Asuka goes crazy and kills herself, Saki is murdered by Juuma, Noriaki is killed off by Nii, Nii is killed by Majins, and Shini is eaten by a snake-like Majin that just got out of Kyoku's corpse.]] Also, refuse to continue against Juuma and you'll get treated to the BlackScreenOfDeath.

* GenderBlenderName: Many of them, notably in main characters. Yoi, Yun and Nii's names ends with a kanji used for female names. Kyoku is usually read as Magata, a female name. On the other side, Shini's name uses gender-neutral kanji.

* UnstableEquilibrium: If ''Boumazuki'' connects, you are marked for a while, which means that if he performs the move again while you're marked, his shots or another Boumazuki make a sure-hit. Being marked is a menace at all times, even though hitting a marked opponent this way results in the mark dissapearing.

** Frenzied Nii attacks faster, his shots blow the opponent back towards him, and all his special attacks and supers are ameliorated. He is the FinalBoss to [[TheHero Yoi]], [[ArchEnemy Yun]], [[OnlySaneMan Asuka]] and [[SuperpowerfulGenetics Yasuke]].
** Frenzied Shini's Shot Type Effect stacks. Her ''Shini-giri'' deals damage if she makes contact with the opponent. Atsui no Suiren applies two stacks of her Shot Type.

* JustLikeRobinHood: His activity, and how he built an orphanage. Though, he struggles against [[{{Greed}} an addiction to stealing money]], and failing at it.

* MoralityChain: Oddly enough, Kyoku is hers.

-> TheBigBad. Chief of the Jiyubudoka Militia, Nii has been in the Jiyubudoka since his younger age. Only he knows of his own past, but his malicious zeal in destroying the bloodlines knows almost no bounds. In fact, his presence here is due to the fact that a tournament under Majin menace could draw attention from people from [[LastOfHisKind disappeared bloodlines]], so he could kill them.

* PowerCopying: She copied Kyoku's fighting style and fire powers, though she strayed away from Majins' power.

* ShotoClone: His normal movelist is an unusual variant since his fireball blows him back and his {{Shoryuken}} hits downwards after he's finished rising (though he does rise extremely quickly). His other movelist forgets the Dragon Punch entirely, averting the trop.

* NobleDemon: Big time. By affirming his presence as a Jiyubudoka and brutally beating several bloodliners to say [[LamarckWasRight Lamarck Was]] ''[[AvertedTrope NOT]]'' [[LamarckWasRight Right]], he earned himself intense hate from several of the old clans, Yun first. He knows that he's working with some bad guys, but he doesn't really care as long as he gets to tell his motto.

* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Shini has no friends because she just lives to grab an easy life.

* PowerCopying: To the point that her Hatred Heat Attack uses ''Kyoku'''s Shot Type and not hers.

-> A mysterious person nobody knows about, he is the wielder of Kusanagi no Tsurugi. He is a fervent enemy to the Jiyubudoka, but he's not [[WalkingTheEarth walking Japan]] to destroy the Jiyubudoka bases.

* SuperpowerLottery: He is able to duke it out with Rin or Yoi without much effort.

-> Rin and Itami's older sister, she works to become an attorney of sorts. She was concerned when Rin's aloofness and Itami's hostility menaced to consume the family, and tried to put them apart. She agreed to kick Itami out, unaware that this caused her to plot the clan's demise. When the elder sister Kazune died, she tried to fill the vacuum, even though she has difficulty hanging in. She is in charge of the contacts of the future clan, and this resulted in her meeting and making frieds with Junichi. When she hears of Rin and Itami meeting in Kyoto, she goes there to avoid bloodshed.

* TheDreaded: Her mother tried to set her up as this for Yoi, even announcing Saki's future coming for his life in her LastWords. [[SubvertedTrope She doesn't live up to them, and Yoi doesn't even have the singlest hint of fear for her from the moment he meets her onward.]]

* RevengeBeforeReason: She's getting herself in range fo Majins to kill Yoi.

-> Chief of the Jiyubudoka Militia, Nii has been in the Jiyubudoka since his younger age. Only he knows of his past, but his malicious zeal in destroying the bloodlines knows almost no bounds. In fact, his presence here is due to the fact that a tournament under Majin menace could draw attention from people from [[LastOfHisKind disappeared bloodlines]]. He intends to KillEmAll. He's the BigBad.

* ManipulativeBastard: Though the idea behind him is that of a MagnificentBastard, it's much too early for him to get coined as one.
** For his defense, he still utterly manipulated his own faction by having the tournament organized in a danger zone: so nobody's eyes would be on him while he reaps the benefits of his BatmanGambit predictions. His goal is fixed as well, though mysterious, and his determination in accomplishing it have no equal. Also, he remains polite (though he looks like he's looking down to everyone) in all circumstances, something even Asuka fails to do.

* SuperpowerLottery: He is able to duke it out with Rin or Yoi without too much effort.

* NamesTheSame: Both his [[LimitBreak Hatred Heat Attacks]] are named ''Koumajin''. Though, one means "Crimson Demon Blade" and the other means "Mad Demon Man".

* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: In canon, Kyoku uses the Rage Install to beat Yoi.
