* Unusually for a kid's show, all of the voice actors for D.W. on ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' have been ''boys''. In an [[https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/pbs-arthur-dw-read-voice-actors-boys-debra-toffan-1234978811/ interview]] with voice director Debra Toffan, she said that the reason they did so is because the girls who auditioned all had sweet-sounding voices and were unable to provide D.W. with the husky voice that fit a bratty tomboy like her.

Cartwright in fact does the voices many of the boys at Springfield Elementary (Bart, Nelson, Ralph, Kearney , Louis, and Todd Flanders). Lampshaded in a chalkboard gag when Bart repeatedly writes, "I am not a 32-year-old woman". Cartwright was 32-years-old when ''The Simpsons'' went on the air.

* In the direct-to-VHS ''WesternAnimation/AlvinAndTheChipmunks'' movies, Theodore is voiced by the same woman that voices the [[DistaffCounterpart Chipettes]], Janice Karman.
** This also occurred in the 80s series as well.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'', Miss Simian, Tina Rex, Coach Russo, and formerly Sussie are all women and girls voiced by men, though Coach and Tina are intended to sound masculine.

* In ''WesternAnimation/BatmanMaskOfThePhantasm'', the latter {{foil}} to Bats is voiced by Creator/DanaDelany (who would later play [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Lois Lane]]) as [[SecretIdentity Andrea Beaumont]] and Stacy Keach ([[GenderBlenderName who is a man despite the name]]) as The Phantasm.
** In an unusual male example, Granny Goodness on ''WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries'' was voiced by Creator/EdwardAsner.

* ''WesternAnimation/Ben102016'':
** In addition to Tara Strong voicing Ben again, Simon is voiced by Creator/DebiDerryberry, though only in his first appearance. Ogie Banks takes over later on.
** Series regular Creator/RogerCraigSmith voices Ben's old babysitter Penny.

* In ''WesternAnimation/BikerMiceFromMars'', MadScientist Dr. Karbunkle, despite being a grown man, was voiced by a woman (Creator/SusanSilo), but she did give him a rather weird ambiguous gender voice.

* In ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'', Linda and Tina Belcher are voiced by men John Roberts and Dan Mintz. Mintz doesn't even try to sound like a girl.
** In the case of Tina, this was almost an aversion, given that her character - still voiced by Dan Mintz - was originally envisioned as a boy named Daniel.
** Creator/SarahSilverman and her sister Laura voice the Pesto twins. Laura's voice for Andy actually sounds like a prepubescent boy, but Sarah's voice for Ollie sounds like Sarah playing an eight-year-old girl (cf. When Ollie says, "Ooh, share!" after Andy finds tampons in his bag on "Bad Tina").

* In the Creator/{{Rankin Bass|Productions}} version of ''Literature/{{Cinderella}}'' one of the ugly stepsisters was voiced by Creator/PaulFrees.
** The studio's iconic WesternAnimation/RudolphTheRedNosedReindeer special had the titular character being voiced by Billie Mae Richards, who was ironically credited as Billy Richards from 1965 onward, as mentioned her 2010 obituary. She also voiced Tenderheart Bear in the first two ''[[WesternAnimation/TheCareBearsMovie Care]] [[WesternAnimation/CareBearsMovieIIANewGeneration Bears]]'' movies and [[WesternAnimation/CareBears1980s first cartoon series]], while she was Brightheart Racoon in the second one.
** Another early Rankin/Bass example: on the 1961 ''WesternAnimation/TalesOfTheWizardOfOz'' animated series, Larry D. Mann voiced the Wicked Witch of the West (as well as in the 1964 TV special ''Return to Oz''), [[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed doing an imitation of]] Creator/JonathanWinters's Maude Frickert character no less!

* In ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'', Christine Cavanaugh is the voice of Marty Sherman. It's not hard to miss, since he sounds like Chuckie Finster.

* ''WebAnimation/DCSuperHeroGirls'' has two examples:
** Mrs. Clayface is voiced by Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson.
** Robin/Damian Wayne is voiced by Creator/GreyDeLisle Griffin.

* In her very first appearance Daisy Duck, the girlfriend of WesternAnimation/DonaldDuck was originally voiced by the same man as her boyfriend: Clarence Nash. He gave her the same squawking voice as Donald but it was slightly lighter so the two could be told apart.
** This was somewhat revisited some fifty years later in a TV special called ''Down and Out With Donald Duck'', in which Daisy is voiced by Creator/TonyAnselmo, the same voice actor who also voices Donald presently.

* Dudley the Dinosaur, the mascot of the American Dental Association, is voiced by a woman in commercials and shorts.

* Chum Chum of ''WesternAnimation/FanboyAndChumChum'', as well as Adam Lyon from ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey'', are voiced by Nika Futterman.

* In the ''ComicStrip/ForBetterOrForWorse'' tv specials of the 90's the toddler April Patterson was voiced by a boy.

* ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'':
** Snail, prior to the spin-off ''Franklin and Friends'', was voiced by Kristen Bone, who was also known for portraying Maggie on ''WesternAnimation/MaggieAndTheFerociousBeast''.
** In the special ''Back to School with Franklin'', his only appearance, Beaver's little brother Kit is voiced by Amanda Soha, known as Chirp from ''WesternAnimation/PeepAndTheBigWideWorld''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'': Kath Soucie is the voice of [[CloningBlues Cubert Farnsworth]] while Tress [=MacNeille=] voices [[RobotKid Tinny Tim]]. On the less common men-voicing-women side, hippie feminist Frida Waterfall was voiced by Phil Hendrie (as Phil had voiced all the previous members of the Waterfall family, who were male) while Maurice [=LaMarche=] voices the [[GonkyFemme Gonky]] {{Fembot}} Crushinator. Averted whenever the Planet Express Crew are seen as children as the male members still retain the same voice actors. Likewise, Hermes' son Dwight (who's the same age as Cubert) is voiced by a man.
* ''WesternAnimation/FutureWorm'' has some notable examples:
** Sergei is voiced by Creator/PagetBrewster .
** Greg the hiccup boy is voiced by Creator/JulieNathanson.
** We have two siblings, Benny and Johnny, voiced by Creator/CristinaPucelli and Creator/CatherineTaber.
* Desirée Goyette voices Nermal the Cat in ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'', with a rather androgynous voice. {{Justified|Trope}} in that Nermal is the self-proclaimed "cutest kitten in the whole wide world" and a foil to Garfield.
** Though this has led to many kids believing Nermal actually was a girl.
** Also, if you pitch down the voice of [[ComicStrip/USAcres Aloysius Pig]]'s mother to -12 percent, you can clearly hear a male voice. The voice in question? That of Kevin Meaney, who plays Aloysius himself. It is ironic to note that he would later go on to voice [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Widow Hutchiston]].

* In ''WesternAnimation/GoofTroop'' all the characters are voiced by actors from the same gender, except Max who is voiced by Dana Hill (from ''Film/NationalLampoonsVacation'' and ''WesternAnimation/{{Duckman}}''). Additionally, in the episode "Calling All Goofs", Goofy's Aunt Goofilla is voiced by Bill Farmer who is basically Goofy doing a falsetto.

* The three major examples of this on ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'' are [[HumanoidAbomination Nergal Jr.]] (Debi Derryberry), [[TheChewToy Pud'n']] (Jane Carr), and [[BlackAndNerdy Irwin]] (Creator/VanessaMarshall). Oddly averted with most other kids. Also, in the not-as-common males voicing females, Creator/PhilLaMarr voices Irwin's grandma.
* ''WebAnimation/HanazukiFullOfTreasures'' has a baby boy named Little Dreamer voiced by Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey. The Hemkas that she, Creator/JessicaDiCicco, and Creator/CassandraLeeMorris voice are all male.
* In ''WesternAnimation/HandyManny'', Stretch and Flicker were voiced by females. Stretch was voiced by Nika Futterman who also does the voice of Squeeze and a young Manny, and Flicker was voiced by Creator/GreyDeLisle.
* ''WesternAnimation/HarleyQuinn2019'' has a few examples.
** "Til Death Do Us Part" has Joey voiced by Creator/VanessaMarshall.
** The episode "A High Bar" has Marcus and Benjamin voiced by Meryl Hathaway and Creator/NicoleSullivan. Joshua averts this due to being voiced by Creator/SeanGiambrone.

* [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with Brad Carbunkle from ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'', who was originally voiced by a female in the pilot episode on ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' and later voiced by Chad Doreck in the full series.
** PlayedStraight with Tuck Carbunkle, voiced by Audrey Wasilewski.

* In ''WesternAnimation/NerdsAndMonsters'' Dudley is voiced by [[Creator/TabithaStGermain Tabitha St. Germain]] and Durn by [[Creator/MichaelAdamthwaite Michael Adamthwaite]].

* In Creator/HannaBarbera's version of ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleRascals'', [[Creator/JulieMcWhirter Julie Dees]] and Creator/BJWard had five boy roles between them. Julie played Alfalfa, Porky and Woim, while B.J. played Butch and Waldo.
* In ''WesternAnimation/MuppetBabies1984'', Skeeter, the twin sister of Scooter, was voiced by Howie Mandel (with the same voice he uses for [[WesternAnimation/BobbysWorld Bobby]] and [[Film/{{Gremlins}} Gizmo]]). More conventionally, Russi Taylor (better known as the modern voice of Minnie Mouse) voiced Gonzo, and Katie Leigh voiced Rowlf. When a toddler version of Janice appeared in one episode, Dave Coulier did her voice (very much like Richard Hunt performing the adult Janice.)
** Howie Mandel was later replaced by Creator/FrankWelker for Skeeter (Welker had already been voicing Kermit and Beaker), and Dave Coulier for Animal.
** In a rare aversion for a Muppet series, Baby Miss Piggy was actually voiced by a woman (Laurie O'Brien), compared to the adult Miss Piggy typically being performed by a male (like Frank Oz).

* In a few episodes of ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife'', in addition to Creator/CharlieAdler voicing Mrs. Bighead and Gladys the Hippo Lady, Creator/TomKenny provided a few female voices, mainly incidental characters, such as Joyce (Heffer's stepmom on the episode "Who's for Dinner"), Al (a female salamander in the episode "Dear John") and a female member of a sausage cult (a monkey in the episode "Schnit-Heads").

* ''WesternAnimation/HotelTransylvaniaTheSeries'' provides a rare man-voicing-a-woman example in Mavis' Aunt Lydia, who is voiced by Canadian stage actor Dan Chameroy. This actually isn't quite as strange when you consider that Chameroy had starred as [[CrosscastRole Agatha Trunchbull]] in the North American tour of ''Theatre/{{Matilda}}'' around the same time he was cast as Lydia.

** "Supernatural Adventures In Babysitting" had Stargirl babysitting

a young female slab frog is voiced by a man in every dub of bologna.the show (except for Polish). In the English dub, she's voiced by Doug Rand, [[TalkingToHimself who also voices Stumpy and Quack Quack.]]

** Charlie Adler voices a female bunny in "Malice's Restaurant".
* Both of Dexter's voice actors on ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' were women (Creator/ChristineCavanaugh and Creator/CandiMilo). As mentioned above, both of these actresses, particularly the former, have done this several times.
* Creator/DingoPictures take Cross-Dressing Voices to the extreme, at least in their English dubs where women not only voice young characters, but sometimes also middle-aged and old men. Vice versa also applies. In most of their animations, character roles are spread quite randomly between two voice actors and results are quite... awkward.
* ''WesternAnimation/DocMcStuffins'': Penny's baby possums Pip, Flip, and Trip are all three voiced by one girl, Caitlyn Leone.
* ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales'': Cassie's younger brother Finn was voiced by Creator/EllenKennedy. And Lorca was voiced by Creator/LenoreZann.
* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Duckman}}'' we have Eric Duckman's preteen Siamese twin sons Charles voiced originally by Dana Hill and later by Pat Musick after Hill's passing and Mambo voiced by ''Creator/ElizabethDaily'', and the escaped elderly criminal Agnes Delrooney voiced by ''Creator/BrianDoyleMurray''.
* Donald's nephews Huey, Louie, and Dewey were voiced by Creator/RussiTaylor in ''Westernanimation/DuckTales1987'' and many video games, and by three actresses in ''Westernanimation/QuackPack'' -- even if there they're teens instead of children. This was averted in "Westernanimation/DuckTales2017" however, where all 3 were voiced by seperate adult male actors.
* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Duncanville}}'' the main character Duncan Harris is a 15-year-old boy voiced by series co-creator Creator/AmyPoehler.

* Parodied in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'' where Eek takes the audience on a behind-the-scenes tour of the show and discovers that he and his girlfriend Annabelle are both voiced by actors of the opposite sex. Eek was actually voiced by Bill Kopp, and Annabelle was voiced by Tawny Kitaen.
* In the English version of ''[[Series/ElChavoDelOcho El Chavo animado]]'', Chavo is voiced by a woman (Creator/MonaMarshall). She was already well-known for voicing young boys, especially in anime. Averted in the original Mexican Spanish dub, where he's voiced by the male Jesus Guzman.
* Creator/TaraStrong voices Timmy Turner of ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents'', Omi of ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'', and Ben Tennyson of ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}'', among [[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0152839/ many others.]]
** After the TimeSkip of ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}'', it's averted with an adult ''male'' actor providing 15-year-old [[WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce Ben's]] voice (Creator/YuriLowenthal, b. 1971, who seems to voice a lot of adolescent boys).
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' has Mike Henry voicing Consuela.

* For the U.S. dub of ''WesternAnimation/FortyFourCats'', most of the male cats were voiced by female actresses.

* The main character of ''WesternAnimation/MoralOrel'', Orel Puppington, is voiced by Carolyn Lawrence.
** Recurring antagonist, Ms. Censordoll is voiced by two different male actors. First Jay Johnston, who was eventually replaced by David Herman.
** Shapey is voiced by creator Dino Stamatopoulos's daughter, Tigger Stamatopoulos.

* Tress [=MacNeille=] also provided the voice of Toast (a teenage boy) on ''WesternAnimation/{{Histeria}}'' (using the same voice she uses for Dolph the bully on ''TheSimpsons''), where she also voiced Pepper Mills and Susanna Susquahanna.
** There was also the nun Sister Windbag (she appeared on the ''Histeria!'' segments centered on famous art, such as one where she's a museum tour guide and Lydia Karaoke interrupts so she can cover the nude paintings, as nudity isn't allowed on kids' TV) voiced by Creator/FrankWelker.

* Unusually for a kid's show, all of the voice actors for D.W. on ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' have been ''boys''.
** One of the earlier voice actors also did the voice of ''Annie Inch'' in Creator/{{Cinar}}'s revival of ''The WesternAnimation/LittleLulu Show''.
** Also, the titular character in ''WesternAnimation/{{Caillou}}'' is voiced by girls. His first voice actress, Creator/BrynMcAuley, took on the role when she was only 7 as her first voice acting gig.
*** Apparently, up until their demise and rebirth as Creator/CookieJarEntertainment, Cinar absolutely loved this trope.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheBusyWorldOfRichardScarry'': Huckle Cat was voiced by a female actress named Creator/SonjaBall.
** In ''Busytown Mysteries'', Huckle was voice by Creator/JoanneVannicola who also voices Toot in ''WesternAnimation/TootAndPuddle''. And Pig Will was voiced by Creator/JulieLemieux.
** Speaking of ''Toot and Puddle'', the second lead character in the title was also voiced by a woman, Samantha Reynolds (who also voiced Ikki Tenryou in the ''Anime/{{Medabots}}'' anime).
** WesternAnimation/LittleBear was voiced by Creator/KristinFairlie, known for voicing [[WesternAnimation/TotalDrama a surfer girl on a certain animated reality show spoof...]]
* Unusually for an adult male character, WesternAnimation/WoodyWoodpecker from the late 1950s to early 1970s was voiced by a woman (Grace Stafford Lantz), but previously he had been voiced by Creator/MelBlanc, Kent Rogers, and Ben Hardaway. Woody has later been voiced by Creator/BillyWest and Creator/EricBauza.
** There's also quite the story behind this. Grace Stafford Lantz was an actress as well as the second wife of Woody's creator Walter Lantz, and when he was about to hold anonymous auditions to cast a new voice actor for Woody, she offered to voice him but he refused. Unfazed, Grace Stafford secretly recorded an audition tape and sent it to the studio. Not knowing who the voice belonging to, her tape was chosen among all the others -- by Walter Lantz himself.
** There's also his nephew Knothead, voiced by Creator/JuneForay in the original shorts, and currently by Elizabeth Daily.

Cartwright in fact does the voices many of the boys at Springfield Elementary (Bart, Nelson, Ralph, Kearney , Louis, and Todd Flanders). Springfield Elementary isn't very big; the other half are voiced by Pamela Hayden (she voices Milhouse van Houten and Jimbo Jones) and some by Tress [=MacNeille=] (she voices Dolph and Cosine). ** In "A Streetcar Named Marge", Creator/JonLovitz voices Mr. AND Mrs. Sinclair. Usually on the series a male may voice a female character
as a gag of some sort, particularly if the female resembles one of the main/recurring male character. Examples include in "Brother From the Same Planet", where Bart sees what he thinks is Homer approaching, but is actually a woman that resembles Homer (complete with ''beard'') singing "I Am Woman"; "Simpsons Tide" when Barney Gumble's mother can be seen (resembling Barney in drag, complete with same belch); and "The Regina Monologues" when Homer meets his twin sister Kim is British half-sister Abbie, whom looks and acts very similar to Homer. * ''WesternAnimation/SymBionicTitan'': The alien Xeexi, who is a male, is voiced by Creator/VanessaMarshall (the voice of Irwin on ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy''). * Continuing the trend from ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'', all of the women on ''WesternAnimation/TwoMoreEggs'' are voiced by Matt Chapman, sometimes with pitch-shifting involved.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'', Doctor Girlfriend is voiced by co-creator Creator/DocHammer, ''to sound like a deep-voiced man from Brooklyn''. In fact, he uses uses a much deeper voice than normal to voice her. Hilarity ensues when The Monarch tries to get a regular non-male-voiced hooker to do Dr. Girlfriend's voice. "''LOWER AND DEEPER!''"
** Creator/DocHammer also voices a lispy old
woman who almost doesn't even sound like she has a male voice actor at all. The show's other creator Creator/JacksonPublick has voiced a few female characters too, mostly for small parts which they didn't want to cast someone for, including a trio of very soft-spoken prostitutes who barely say anything, and a tall strapping young woman who [[SamusIsAGirl initially appears to be a guy]] (and gets a female voice actor for the next season).

* Bart Simpson of ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' is voiced by adult female Nancy Cartwright (Cartwright's 2004 memoirs is titled ''My Life as a 10-Year-Old Boy''); pictured above. Cartwright in fact does the voices many of the boys at Springfield Elementary (Bart, Nelson, Ralph, Kearney , Louis, and Todd Flanders). * Except for Chuckie, all the ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' retained their same voice actress from their first episode all the way to the SpinOff, spanning more than 10 years for most of the cast. (For Chuckie, Creator/NancyCartwright replaced a retiring Creator/ChristineCavanaugh in 2001.) The same voice actresses even remained for their older counterparts in ''WesternAnimation/AllGrownUp'', having to somewhat struggle to alter their voices. ** Also Russi Taylor (later Creator/GreyDeLisle) voiced Martin Prince (the effeminate nerd in Bart's class), Uter (the German exchange student who went missing), and a few other young boys.
** An in-universe example: in the season eight episode, "The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show," Homer is amazed that [[WesternAnimation/TheItchyAndScratchyShow Itchy and Scratchy]] are voiced by a voice actress named June Bellamy (voiced by Creator/TressMacNeille, though Dan Castellaneta and Harry Shearer provided the voices for Itchy and Scratchy when she demonstrated to Homer that she is the voice of the two characters).
** In "A Streetcar Named Marge", Creator/JonLovitz voices Mr. AND Mrs. Sinclair. Usually on the series a male may voice a female character as a gag of some sort, particularly if the female resembles one of the main/recurring male character. Examples include in "Brother From the Same Planet", where Bart sees what he thinks is Homer approaching, but is actually a woman that resembles Homer (complete with ''beard'') singing "I Am Woman"; "Simpsons Tide" when Barney Gumble's mother can be seen (resembling Barney in drag, complete with same belch); and "The Regina Monologues" when Homer meets his British half-sister Abbie, whom looks and acts very similar to Homer. All three of these unusual ladies were voiced by Creator/DanCastellaneta, the voices of Homer and Barney.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' has Mike Henry voicing Consuela.
* ''[[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius Jimmy Neutron]]'' is voiced by Debi Derryberry. His two best friends are voiced by Creator/RobPaulsen and Jeffrey Garcia, however.
** Aside from the younger boy characters, the only other older boy character with a female voice actor is Nick Dean, voiced by Creator/CandiMilo. Debi Derryberry also voiced Nergal Jr. in ''[[WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy]]''.
** In the movie, Mrs. Wheezer is voiced by a woman. In the series proper, however, she is voiced by Rob Paulsen, like the rest of Carl's family.
* Regina King plays both Freeman brothers on ''WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks''. You can tell with Riley that it's a woman voicing a boy, but not the voice for Huey.
* [[AvertedTrope Averted]] with Mac from ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'', who had been consistently voiced by Sean Marquette throughout the series' run, although it's played straight in various foreign dubs of the show including the Hebrew and Japanese versions.
* ''[[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983 He-Man's]]'' cousin Jeremy is voiced by Erika Scheimer.
* In ''WesternAnimation/NerdsAndMonsters'' Dudley is voiced by [[Creator/TabithaStGermain Tabitha St. Germain]] and Durn by [[Creator/MichaelAdamthwaite Michael Adamthwaite]].
* Robyn Moore voices the title character in the Yoram Gross era of ''WesternAnimation/BlinkyBill''.
** Sarah Aubrey voiced Tico Toucan, who debuted in series 3.
* Even if you've seen every episode of ''WesternAnimation/CowAndChicken'', it's ''very'' easy to forget sometimes that Cow is voiced by a man. Creator/CharlieAdler has that little girl voice that just so darn convincing (and has been heard before on other shows, like ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs'', ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife'', and ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'').
* Creator/JuneForay is the voice of [[WesternAnimation/RockyAndBullwinkle Rocky the Flying Squirrel]]; in fact, Rocky's voice is closer to Foray's natural voice than the main female character (Natasha) she also voices, who has a heavy pseudo-Russian accent. She is also the voice of Jokey Smurf in ''WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs'' while Brenda Vaccaro is the voice of Gargamel's nephew Scruple.
* In ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko'', the characters of Ulrich and Jérémie are played by women. This is particularly funny in Jérémie's case, as both [[OfficialCouple he and his girlfriend Aelita]] are played by [[TalkingToHerself the same actress]].
** This trope is [[ExaggeratedTrope exaggerated]] in the French dub: barring [[SixthRanger William]], all main male characters are voiced by women.
* ''WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers'' provides an interesting example. Chip and Gadget are both voiced by Creator/TressMacNeille. However, due to the audio processing used on Chip and Dale's lines to give the two chipmunks such high-pitched voices, you'd never suspect the reality.
** Before ''Rescue Rangers'', Chip and Dale were often both voiced by the same person, who was usually female. When the characters appeared in later Disney properties Creator/TressMacNeille and Creator/CoreyBurton usually reprised their roles as from ''Rescue Rangers'' as Chip and Dale respectively, although Tress has occasionally done the voice for both.
* This occurred regularly from season 1-12 of''WesternAnimation/ThomasTheTankEngine'' when all of the characters were voiced by one narrator.
** Dowager Hatt is voiced by Creator/KeithWickham. Averted in the foreign languages as she voiced by actual women.
** Also Stephen and Bridget Hatt are both voiced by Teresa Gallagher .
* Nanny from ''WesternAnimation/CountDuckula'' is voiced by series writer Brian Trueman. The complete opposite of his voice as Stiletto in ''WesternAnimation/DangerMouse''!
* [=MacDuff=] from ''WesternAnimation/{{Fantomcat}}'' is voiced by Kate Harbour, using the same voice she used for Snoot Corncracker in ''WesternAnimation/OakieDoke''.
** Widow Hutchison was voiced by [[Film/UncleBuck Kevin Meaney]].
** In-universe example in "Wacky Deli" with Rocko providing the voice of a female slab of bologna.
* Creator/PamelaAdlon voiced Bobby Hill of ''WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill''.
** She has also voiced young Baloo on ''WesternAnimation/JungleCubs'' and Lucky in ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatiansTheSeries'' -- the former sounding quite a bit closer to Bobby Hill's actual age.
** And Otto on ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad''.
** Played straight, then subverted with Joseph Gribble. From season one to the early half of season 5, Joseph Gribble was voiced by Creator/BrittanyMurphy (who also voiced Luanne Platter). From the middle of season five to the show's end, Joseph Gribble was voiced by Breckin Meyer (who was 26 when he first voiced the character and a man). The voice change was written off as Joseph going through puberty, according to the episode "I Don't Wanna Wait for Our Lives to Be Over".
*** Apparently, up until their demise and rebirth as Creator/CookieJarEntertainment, Cinar absolutely loved this trope.
** ''WesternAnimation/TheBusyWorldOfRichardScarry'': Huckle Cat was voiced by a female actress named Sonja Ball.
** In ''Busytown Mysteries'', Huckle was voice by Joanne Vannicola who also voices Toot in ''Toot and Puddle''. And Pig Will was voiced by Creator/JulieLemieux.
** WesternAnimation/LittleBear was voiced by Kirstie Fairlie, known for voicing [[WesternAnimation/TotalDrama a surfer girl on a certain animated reality show spoof...]]
Grace Stafford Lantz was an actress as well as the second wife of Woody's creator Walter Lanz, and when he was about to hold anonymous auditions to cast a new voice actor for Woody, she offered to voice him but he refused.
* In many ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}'' specials/movies, Peppermint Patty was often voiced by boys to convey her tomboyish personality; this contributed to ViewerGenderConfusion in the later years of the comic strip's run.
** Likewise, Charlie Brown is voiced by a woman in the late 1980s miniseries, ''WesternAnimation/ThisIsAmericaCharlieBrown''.
* Calvin and Juicy, the two boys who live in the Projects from ''WesternAnimation/ThePJs'', are voiced by Crystal Scales and Michele Morgan, respectively.
* The ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' cartoons used two female voice actors, Bea Benederet and June Foray, for most female speaking roles (such as Miss Prissy and Granny). Penelope Pussycat's mewing and purring sound effects, meanwhile, were provided by Mel Blanc and, later on, Frank Welker. In Penelope's case, the major aversion occurred in ''Carrotblanca'', where her proper speaking role was done by [[Creator/TressMacNeille Tress MacNeille]].
** In ''Film/SpaceJam'', the Nerdlucks, despite being male, were all voiced by women.
** In the short "The Blow Out", the Mad Bomber villain, despite being male, was voiced by a woman (Lucille La Verne, a.k.a. the wicked queen/witch from ''WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs'').
** Sniffles the mouse is voiced by three female voice actors throughout all of Creator/ChuckJones' Sniffles shorts: Gay Seabrook, Bernice Hansen, and Sara Berner. Bernice herself also voiced the three squirrels in the 1939 Jones short "Robin Hood Makes Good".
* Creator/DingoPictures take Cross-Dressing Voices to the extreme, at least in their English dubs where women not only voice young characters, but sometimes also middle-aged and old men. Vice versa also applies. In most of their animations, character roles are spread quite randomly between two voice actors and results are quite... awkward.
* In the animated series for ''WesternAnimation/{{Jumanji}}'', Peter is voiced by Creator/AshleyJohnson.
* The titular character of ''WesternAnimation/WidgetTheWorldWatcher'' was voiced by a woman: Russi Taylor.
* In the first three seasons of ''WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants'', Mr. Krabs' mother was voiced by a man, writer Paul Tibbit. In the seasons after the first movie, Sirena Irwin now voices Mrs. Krabs.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheCritic'', Christine Cavanaugh is the voice of Marty Sherman. It's not hard to miss, since he sounds like Chuckie Finster.
* In the Italian dub of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'', all the Starscream clones are voiced by the same man. [[OppositeSexClone Even the one that's a girl]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/BikerMiceFromMars'', MadScientist Dr. Karbunkle, despite being a grown man, was voiced by a woman (Creator/SusanSilo), but she did give him a rather weird ambiguous gender voice.
* In a few shorts, WesternAnimation/{{Popeye}} was voiced by Mae Questel, who also voiced Olive Oyl and WesternAnimation/BettyBoop.
** Creator/DocHammer also voices a lispy old woman who almost doesn't even sound like she has a male voice actor at all.
* In ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'', Ms. Choksondik was voiced by Trey Parker. In fact, there are a handful of female characters not voiced by Mary Kay Bergman (or any of her replacements following her suicide) that are voiced by Trey Parker. The sole male character voiced by a woman is the unnamed leader of the sixth graders.
** Ike [[ChildrenVoicingChildren has had many voice actors over the years]], a few of them being girls. He is currently voiced by Betty Parker, Trey Parker's daughter.
** It's easier to count the women actually voiced by women on ''Bob's Burgers'' than to count the men who voice women. (If you're curious: Tina's edgy frenemy Tammy, Louise Belcher, Aunt Gayle, Mr. Fischoeder's crush Shelby from "An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal", Linda's mother Gloria, Boyz 4 Now's bus driver, half of the pot-growing couple from "Bob Fires the Kids", Courtney's friend Gupta, and Mort's date in "Weekend at Mort's" are the only females over the first three seasons to be voiced by women.)
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' has Creator/PendletonWard voicing Lumpy Space Princess.
** BMO, as a robot, is sexless, though has been referred to as both "she" and "he", with a slight inclination for the latter. In any case, the robot is voiced by the female Niki Yang, who also voiced Lady Rainicorn.
* Chum Chum of ''WesternAnimation/FanboyAndChumChum'', as well as Adam Lyon from ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey'', are voiced by Nika Futterman.
* In the direct-to-VHS ''WesternAnimation/AlvinAndTheChipmunks'' movies, Theodore is voiced by the same woman that voices the [[DistaffCounterpart Chipettes]], Janice Karman.
** This also occurred in the 80s series as well.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' has Spike, a baby male dragon apprentice, voiced by Cathy Weseluck.
** This is not the [[Manga/DeathNote first time]] she has voiced a male character, extraordinarily well at that, given her uncanny ability to mimic the voice of a boy.
** She also voiced Fij Fij on ''WesternAnimation/MaryokuYummy''.
** Spike is voiced by a woman in most languages except Brazilian Portuguese, German, Hungarian, Czech (season 4), Canadian French (the movie), Russian (the movie), Croatian (HRT), and Arabic.
** In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E10RainbowFalls Rainbow Falls]]", [[AllThereInTheScript Rainbowshine]], a mare, is voiced by Creator/TrevorDevall.
** Because of his imitation of Granny Smith (voiced by Creator/TabithaStGermain), Peter New got the job doing Goldie Delicious.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Birdz}}'' has two examples: the lead character Eddie (Susan Roman) and Sleepy Bat [and his dad] (Creator/JulieLemieux).
** Lemieux has two more examples on her résumé: WesternAnimation/{{Rupert}} and [[WesternAnimation/AlmostNakedAnimals Batty]].

* Creator/TabithaStGermain plays Tinny of ''WesternAnimation/{{Rollbots}}'' and the title character of WesternAnimation/CaptainFlamingo.
* Jules de Jongh, a woman, voiced Skunk on ''WesternAnimation/SkunkFu''.

* Donald's nephews Huey, Louie and Dewey were voiced by Creator/RussiTaylor in ''Westernanimation/DuckTales1987'' and many video games, and by three actresses in ''Westernanimation/QuackPack'' - even if there they're teens instead of children. This was averted in "Westernanimation/DuckTales2017" however, where all 3 were voiced by seperate adult male actors.
* In one amusing example in ''WesternAnimation/ClerksTheAnimatedSeries'', it's revealed that Randall is such a crappy, negligent boyfriend that any woman who dates (or at least tries dating) him winds up swearing off men forever and become a lesbian because of the experience. Any lesbian who appears in the episode is voiced by a male, even if they previously had a female voice prior to changing their orientation.
* The [[ProtagonistTitle titular character]] of ''WesternAnimation/{{Stanley}}'' is a little boy voiced by Jessica D. Stone[[note]] Some people may know her as the voice of [[VideoGame/StreetFighterIII Makoto]] in ''[[VideoGame/StreetFighterIV Super Street Fighter IV]]''.[[/note]], who was only a pre-teen when she landed the role back in 2001.
* Sonia from ''WesternAnimation/SonicUnderground'' was voiced by Jaleel White, who also voiced Sonic and Manic. And it really shows, considering that Sonia sounds like a squeakier [[Series/FamilyMatters Steve Urkel]].

Oddly averted with most other kids. Also, in the not-as-common males voicing females, Creator/PhilLaMarr voices Irwin's grandma.
