Page 170 of the ending was quickly deleted following this, with Quinn initially considering remaking the ending entirely.
** Quinn came to dislike FNAF as a whole as drawing it was only exacerbating her depression. As a result, she swore off doing anything FNAF related following the upload of the last page of the Dark Ending.

[[WordOfGod Eastwood has gone on record as saying]] something to the effect of "...made something good out of, in retrospect, the worst idea I ever had."

The four writers once made a DarkerAndEdgier version of ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' by adding ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}}'' elements, but later changed their mind, deciding they would instead mock how stupid the concept was to them. The result was ''Exterminatus Now'' containing elements of both series as before, but now with a heaping helping of BlackComedy thrown into the mix along with them.

* Almost ''everyone'' who was a contributor on ''Website/ChannelAwesome'' from 2008-2015 regrets ever having anything to do with Doug Walker or any of the higher-ups of the website [[https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WZFkR__B3Mk9EYQglvislMUx9HWvWhOaBP820UBa4dA/preview#heading=h.v89be0jiemu0 due to mistreatment and abuse they suffered]] while working on the website. Most have stated to the effect that they will ''never'' work with the Walker brothers again. The only exceptions are Creator/BradJones, who not only stayed with the website but has really doubled down on his support for it since the document came out; Creator/NoahAntwiler, who said that he didn't like Channel Awesome's management team but misses working with Doug and Rob; and, to a lesser extent, Creator/LewisLovhaug, who says that he did consider Doug and Rob friends and had a problem more with Mike Michaud than he did with them[[note]]However, considering The Walkers ended their friendship with him once he quit the website, [[https://twitter.com/ERodBuster1/status/1158462368524984322 he's changed his mind about that]][[/note]].
** Especially pronounced with Creator/AllisonPregler, who not only regrets anything she did with Doug and Rob but Creator/BradJones as well. While she initially stayed friends with Jones despite the latter's decision not to leave Channel Awesome, after Jones went on an interview with WebOriginal/DoubleToasted where he dismissed the controversy and said things like "Apologize, even if you don't mean it!" and "Well, Creator/LoganPaul filmed a dead body and he still has a career", she immediately ended her friendship with him. Whenever she has mentioned him since, [[https://twitter.com/AllisonPregler/status/1193449911439810561 it has not been pretty]]. It has gotten to the point where she has either deleted reviews they were in together or edited him out of reviews, and called the movies she was in that he directed "shitty". She's gained a reputation of lashing out and blocking not only anyone who mentions Doug and/or Brad on her Twitter, but anyone who merely ''follows them'' on the site.
* Creator/LindsayEllis has stated that she has no good memories of WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick or her time associated with Website/ChannelAwesome. She pretty much says that no one should watch any of her work from before 2015 (although she says she still likes the ''Film/FreddyGotFingered'' review). For a while, she uploaded her old videos to her retro account so other people won't upload them, under the mocking title "Nostalgic Woman", but even those have since been made private. More broadly, she [[https://twitter.com/thelindsayellis/status/1315714232990670848 believes]] that her videos as the Nostalgia Chick, and the output of Channel Awesome in general, helped to popularize a toxic brand of online media criticism in the 2010s, one that was characterized by [[CausticCritic snide, bad-faith arguments]] and an air of smug superiority to the material they were discussing. The only Nostalgia Chick videos that she doesn't seem thoroughly embarrassed about are her videos on ''Film/FreddyGotFingered'' and ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'', going by the fact that she has reuploaded to her main channel.
-->"[[https://twitter.com/thelindsayellis/status/1315714232990670848 It was around 2011]] that I started to really realize what a toxic form of criticism we were helping to build when I realized how bad my review of ''Film/{{Dune|1984}}'' was. Like, I still don't like ''Dune'', but my approach to it was just so smug and lazy. Genuinely my nadir, and I've had a few. ... I'm not proud of it. I had a hand in the foundation of the ''[[WebVideo/CinemaSins SinemaCins]]'' landscape of today."
* In ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'', there's "[[http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Marshmallow%27s_Last_Stand Marshmallow's Last Stand]]", the very first cartoon featured on the website. Once the quality of the shorts began to noticeably improve, the Brother Chaps removed "Stand" from the live version of the website and moved it to the museum (the area of the website where they archive old stuff for historical purposes), and then later [[MissingEpisode removed it from the museum as well]]. Their reason: [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness "The characters are completely different. Saying and doing things they'd never do now."]]
** Another early cartoon, "[[http://hrwiki.org/wiki/A_Jumping_Jack_Contest A Jumping Jack Contest]]" was removed for virtually the same reasons.
** Despite this, both cartoons are on the "Everything Else" DVD sets and are still referenced in other cartoons.
* Lerdwichagul is not too fond with his earlier ''Super Mario 64 Bloopers'' he made in 2011.
* While liking the other 4 parts, Blaze The Movie Fan really hates the first ''WebAnimation/MarioPissing'' video which is also his most famous video.
* [=scratchU8=] [[https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/24457360/#player perfectly sums this up with this project]], thanks to his old projects' [[ArtEvolution poor art]] and [[VocalEvolution his younger self's voice.]]
* Jonathan Ian Mathers of Ill Will Press, producer of ''WebAnimation/NeuroticallyYours'' has, for quite some time, consistently denounced and attempted to suppress much of his earliest work; typically citing the heavily {{Fanservice}}-oriented nature of it. However, much of his more recent work pushes the fanservice envelope much farther; the only difference being that it's now done "ironically" instead of straight.
* Subverted with Chakra-X with his ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' Fan animation ''WebAnimation/NazoUnleashed''. Despite the use of {{rotoscoping}} off certain scenes from the likes of Anime/SonicX and Franchise/DragonBall which he considers lazy and crude, he says he's still proud of it in the HD Director's Cut, stating that he considers it a milestone in his animation projects, and uses the movie as a benchmark for his future original projects.
* Creator/DavidFirth has stated he has come to regret making ''WebAnimation/SpoilsburyToastBoy -2'', in particular the infamous scene where [[spoiler:the main character's grandmother is rather brutually and graphically raped by a giant beetle]], feeling that it added nothing but shock value, and one of the reasons he's been put off from continuing the series. He's (understandebly) not too fond of the animations he made in his teens, such as the ''Jim's Story'' and ''Fat-Pie'' series.
* Alvin-Earthworm, the creator of ''WebAnimation/SuperMarioBrosZ'', has said he's not proud of Episode 7 of the original series.
* Ellie Spectacular, creator of the WebAnimation/YouTubePoop channel WebAnimation/DaThings, began scrutinizing some of her older Poops in 2021. Some were taken down entirely, while others such as "Arby's serves some Goog Moom Foof" had slightly edited versions uploaded to her backup channel [=CleanYTP=].
* Website/TVTropes:
** Many longtime tropers are ashamed of the former Troper Tales and Fetish Fuel sections of the site, and for good reason. The entries there were so... uh, off-color, giving ''way'' TooMuchInformation about the tropers who posted there, that they damn near dragged this site's reputation down to the level of Website/FourChan. Thankfully, they were removed, and since the site now strives to be FamilyFriendly, they will never be coming back.
** Some tropes, while otherwise perfectly innocuous, used to have names that are generally considered stupid now. Most can be found on the Administrivia/RenamedTropes and Administrivia/PermanentRedLinkClub pages, but there are three that stand out:
*** There once was a time that BoisterousBruiser was called '''The Toblerone''', after an obscure gag from an episode of ''Series/{{Mystery Science Theater 3000}}'' that was so obtuse that almost nobody got the reference, and the trope page had far fewer wicks and examples than it deserved. As a result, the trope was renamed many years before the purge of character-named tropes, and the site has a [[DarthWiki/{{Toblerone}} Darth Wiki page]] mocking the original name to this day (which is about the chocolate bar).
*** LateArrivalSpoiler was originally called '''You Should Know This Already'''. This seems innocuous enough, but probably no name could have encouraged more FanMyopia. Reports of this happening are probably exaggerated, but some tropers began to take the name literally, as an excuse to never use spoiler tags. [[InsaneTrollLogic ("After all, the trope is called 'You Should Know This Already', so clearly every reader already knows what's being spoiled, right?")]] Eventually, enough tropers were sufficiently annoyed to complain to the moderators, and the name was changed without warning.
*** And the most shameful of all: the trope PaedoHunt was first launched with the name '''All Pedophiles Are Child Molesters'''. This caused actual pedophiles to discover the wiki and mistakenly think that it was a haven for them, dramatically increasing the amount of {{Squick}} on the pages (especially those that heavily mention children) and ultimately leading to Administrivia/TheSecondGoogleIncident, which [[ForWantOfANail changed the culture of the wiki ever since]].
*** The ''first'' Google incident was inspired by an entire index: SexualHarassmentAndRapeTropes. The tropes themselves were fine, but people objected to the names that were of the formula "Rape is Okay[[note]]or [[DudeNotFunny "funny"]], for [[DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale one of them]][[/note]] if it's X on Y", even though these were obviously sarcastic. These were all changed to "Double Standard: Rape: X on Y" and the original names purged. These also included "Rape as Redemption" which is now RapePortrayedAsRedemption, "Rape as Comedy" (now BlackComedyRape) and "It's Not Rape if You Enjoyed It" (now NotIfTheyEnjoyedItRationalization), all to better indicate that only the twisted narrative actually believes these are okay, and "Rape is Love", which was changed to "Loving Force" and then RomanticizedAbuse, [[Administrivia/MissingSupertrope broadening the definition in the process]].
*** The old name for NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer, I Am Not Making This Up, is one of the oldest and most infamous members of the Administrivia/PermanentRedLinkClub, and wound up being widely used as a grating catchphrase which made members of the wiki seem like idiots with extremely low thresholds of disbelief. At its peak, it appeared on over 2500 pages at a time when this was a high percentage of the entire wiki, and the hate against it was so severe that when it was deleted, so was every link to the page, leaving blank spots where it used to be. While it has since been eclipsed in size and scope by other large scale deletions (it would barely qualify for OverdosedTropes by today's standards), it left a lasting legacy among longtime tropers and remains one of the most infamous former pages on the site.
* ''Wiki/SCPFoundation''
** After getting banned, senior member Fishmonger asked the site to remove all of the articles, stories, and materials he had ever written for the site. Barring the [[{{Jerkass}} obvious reasoning]], some site members theorized that Fishmonger was afraid potential employers would stumble across the site.
** Celestial Fang (Zhange) did ''not'' like being a site member, having later said she experienced various forms of sexual misconduct, and is decidedly not a fan of the Foundation, getting upset when the site is brought up in her presence.
* As explained in [[http://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/about-newgrounds/history their official history]], after the dot-com bubble burst in the early '00s, Website/{{Newgrounds}} had to resort to running ads for porn sites in order to keep the lights on. They are not proud of this, mainly due to the poor image it gave to the site.
* Website/KnowYourMeme's "Cringeworthy" article got permanently locked from all forms of posting due to [[http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/cringeworthy rampant dickery]].
* {{Website/Reddit}} used to have several small subreddits like /r/creepshots that were, essentially, creepy threads used by scumbags to distribute every thing from stalkerish photos of women to ''child porn''. The users were appropriately horrified and demanded that the staff purge those threads. The mods [[LawfulStupid refused for the reason that doing so would break their own rules regarding freedom of speech]]. After media attention forced them to purge the threads, the site's management is deeply embarrassed over their failure to properly deal with them, especially because it gave the site and its users a poor reputation that Reddit is still struggling to move past, which in turn led to the site and its users frequently being insulted and harassed by communities like Something Awful. Because of this, the site's moderation is ''much'' stricter than it used to be, in order to prevent illegal threads like that from cropping up again. Reddit has also disowned violentacrez, a once well-liked, popular, and trusted Redditor who turned out to be a creepy [[JerkAss jerkass]] who participated in the above-mentioned creepthreads.
* Joe Garden, a former writer for ''Website/TheOnion'', [[https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/xwngb3/area-man-regrets-helping-turn-joe-biden-into-a-meme regrets]] having helped craft the site's satirical portrayal of UsefulNotes/JoeBiden, namely the "Diamond Joe" persona of the [[GoodOlBoy cool uncle]] who owns a Trans Am and a Harley and eagerly partakes in the "finer" things in life (HairMetal, sexy barbarian women, [[TheStoner good weed]]). He felt that it went soft on his actual politics, and that the first red flag that ''The Onion''[='=]s Biden parody wasn't cutting deep enough was him finding out that people in the White House, Biden included, were huge fans of it.
* ''Pitchfork'' published [[https://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/pitchfork-reviews-rescored/ an article]] of the nineteen review scores they wish they could change. Of note, Music/LizPhair's SelfTitledAlbum, which received a [[CausticCritic thrashing]] from the original reviewer. The reviewer has since called the review "condescending and cringey" and referred to himself as a "smug 19-year-old ''Pitchfork'' writer."
* [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredrick_Brennan Fredrick Brennan]] is the creator of the website ''8chan'' - a fact he despises. He started the {{imageboard|s}} in 2013 as a hands-off website where users can do what they want, but he later left in 2016 due to the stress of managing it. In the aftermath of the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchurch_mosque_shootings 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings]], when the killer uploaded his {{manifesto|MakingMalcontent}} to 8chan, Brennan began to deeply regret starting the website. He is currently working to get the website taken down and is a harsh critic of Ron Watkins (the current owner of the website and a [=QAnon=] ConspiracyTheorist).
* In an interview {{LetsPlay/Skawo}} revealed that he considers Another Super Mario 3d to be a poorly designed hack. It was initially just a test for making 3d models, but it was eventually made into a full 73-star game, a game that Skawo does not look back fondly on.
** Whenever the older lets plays are mentioned, it’s in a negative light, especially the fact that they had barely any commentary, and were low quality.
* Rocco Botte, while he doesn't completely disown or hate WebVideo/Mega64 Version 1, has shown to be embarrassed and apologetic for a lot of the episodes' shortcomings. This is painfully apparent in the Special Edition Commentary.
* Kyle Kallgren of ''WebVideo/BrowsHeldHigh'' wound up taking down his review of ''The Girlfriend Experience'' about a month after it went up on Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses, citing that he didn't care for some of the implications that he made about adult film stars and decided he didn't want it to represent him as a critic. He uploaded a commentary of the review instead, explaining the reasoning behind this.
** Kyle has since grown dissatisfied with his older episodes, which were straight reviews, in favor of his [[ReTool newer format]], which analyzes films from a particular angle. Only a few of these older reviews (some branded "Brows Held High Classic") remain on [=YouTube=].
* The crew at WebVideo/IncognitoCinemaWarriorsXP stopped selling copies of their first episode, ''Bride of The Gorilla'' (and never released it to Podcast/RiffTrax), citing the low quality relative to subsequent episodes, elements that flat out didn't work (like a jarringly out-of-place LaughTrack) and a lack of interest in redoing the episode to bring it up to par. It's a MissingEpisode now and it's staying that way. (You can't even find clips of the thing on [=YouTube=]).
* [=AnimalGuy001=], now known as [[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga Fawful's]] Minion, got a lot of hate for his top 10 most overrated Franchise/{{Pokemon}}, which was one of his first works. In a video he decided that fans could choose which video (or series of videos) was the worst video he ever made. It turned out to be his top 10 most overrated Pokemon video. When he was talking about this video he said:
-->I really hate this video. Out of all of the works I made, this is the one I simply can't stand.
* [[WebVideo/AtoptheFourthWall Linkara]]:
** Judging from [[https://twitter.com/Linkara19/status/376799807920037889 this Twitter conversation]], he is not a fan of the ''Angel Armor'' book series he wrote as a teenager, and was especially disappointed to learn that both books can be found on Amazon.com.
** He's admitted, in his episode on Sinnamon #1, that he hates most of the badly lit/blurry early episodes like Sinnamon #11.
** He also regrets his earlier attitude in attacking creators ''directly'' rather than criticizing writing and art decisions. This is why he changed the theme song in episode 600 and made it official starting in 2021. He's stated that the only time it's appropriate to call out a creator is if the book has things like misogynistic or racist themes, and even then it's important to limit commentary to pointing out why it's wrong and not engage in attacks on the creator or other otherwise promote toxic fandom and entitlement, which he's ashamed of having done in the past.
* [=Mr.AspiringActor=], an ex-video reviewer on [=YouTube=], has admitted to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11TLRHbD9dc not caring much]] for his first series, [=Mr.AspiringActor Presents=], very much except for a few episodes.
* Creator/AchievementHunter has a few incidents that are considered Old Shames by them:
** During the height of the fad, Ray Narvaez, Jr. had gone around spouting out "YOLO!". He's since stopped it and regrets doing so.
** The "Connect the Hots" incident is this for Geoff and Gavin in which one of their [[LetsPlay/AchievementHunterMinecraftSeries "Let's Build"]] episodes had them discussing a game they did involving driving and hot women. However, people got quite pissed off about it, comparing the game to out and out ''stalking'' and forcing the two to admit they messed up and they removed all videos referencing the "game".
** Their Let's Play for ''TabletopGame/MagicTheGathering'' was so boring, they deleted the videos and promised it would never see the light of day again.
** Their Let's Play for ''VideoGame/{{Fuel}}'' is also this to some of the group, seeing as it was a major case of LeaveTheCameraRunning.
** Ryan Haywood isn't too proud of his brief stint as a professional teen model. He's also prone to saying things during Lets Plays that he later regrets. It doesn't help that whenever he does this, Creator/RoosterTeeth makes a shirt out of it that his fellow Achievement Hunters promote heavily.
*** He ''very'' quickly became annoyed by his exclamation of "[[https://youtu.be/djG4ZFM9H9I?t=13m19s I'm still in the air!]]". He softened to it for some time, but went back to loathing it when it was clear how [[PhraseCatcher versatile]] and [[NeverLiveItDown enduring]] it had become.
*** He also deeply regrets saying "[[ItMakesSenseInContext Give me your milk!]]" It ''definitely'' doesn't help that the other Hunters pranked him by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euwwOobEgRE changing his gamertag to it when he wasn't looking]]. Fortunately for him, this one died down quickly after the prank video.
** Speaking of Ryan, the rest of Achievement Hunter regard their ''entire time'' with him to be an Old Shame after Ryan's sexual misconduct was exposed in October 2020. Both Jack and Michael announced that they would edit and delete videos in order to [[{{Unperson}} erase Ryan entirely]].
* ''Nickon Aqua Magna'' isn't fond of his review of ''VideoGame/SonicUnleashed'' mostly because the only reason he did it was to attack the game and the people who liked it.
* WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows admitted in 2011 that he wasn't proud of his first two reviews. He also apparently isn't fond of his Ke$ha videos either.
* WebVideo/JonTron
** Jon Jafari deleted one of his videos on [=YouTube=], "Top 10 Overrated Games", because of all the whopping backdraft he caught for it. He lampshades this during his Mighty Max review. And for some reason, he decide to privatize "[[http://ech.wikia.com/wiki/Apples_and_BREAKS Apples and BREAKS]]", which consisted of him simply mourning his accidentally broken Nintendo DS console.
** He also detests his chat on Website/{{Twitch}} streamer Destiny's channel, in which he tried to defend his political views but [[OpenMouthInsertFoot his obvious rambling and "questionable" comments]] only proceeded to make the situation worst as following the interview, both him [[HitlerAteSugar and the members of his site ''Normal Boots'' lost a significant number of subscribers]] with Jon's cameo for the game ''VideoGame/YookaLaylee'' being removed in response to the issue. He ultimately posted a second video apologizing for the incident and better explaining his political views, and went into a half-year-long hiatus.
* Daniel Sulzbach, AKA [[WebVideo/MrRepzion Mr Repzion]], used to be pro-life, and once made a video promoting this view. Now that he is pro-choice, that video is an Old Shame of his.
* Creator/MikeMatei made a video in 2012 in which he plays ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' with an animated Inspector Gadget. Suffice to say, the video was poorly received, so much in fact that it was taken off both the Cinemassacre website and their Website/YouTube channel. Years later, after Music/SiivaGunner made some high-quality rips featuring the video, Mike admitted that he himself was unhappy with the video and that it took him a long time to come to terms with it.
* LetsPlay/{{Turpster}} is not a fan of the old "Turpstervision" song (a parody of the Chuckle Brothers' introduction, "Chucklevision") that he did for an old show of his. This is in no small part because the other members of the LetsPlay/{{Yogscast}}, LetsPlay/{{Sips}} and LetsPlay/HatFilms in particular, find it hilarious, to the point that they added it as a taunt on their custom ''VideoGame/PropHunt'' server. The video was initially viewable by all, but was later made private (though it was far too late to stop reuploads, and by now the fanbase is well aware of it; they've grown to love it for being SoBadItsGood).
* LetsPlay/{{Videogamedunkey}} looks back on the Website/{{Newgrounds}} animations he made as a 12 year old with a combination of this and BileFascination. The introduction to "Old Dunkey and Cuphead" is basically just him slamming a bunch of stuff he made back in 2005 or so.
-->'''Dunkey[dying of cringe]:''' (sigh) this a, uh, parody of a song by Music/TheVillagePeople except I swapped out the letters "YMCA" for..."[[ObligatorySwearing fuck]]". If anyone has the technology, I am willing to go back in time and assassinate myself before this was uploaded.
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQP73dAq7jc#t=1013&channel=BlazeFox89 this video]], LetsPlay/LewisBrindley admits that he is ''not'' a fan of the "Wizard Gandy" map that he and LetsPlay/SimonLane did as part of the ''WebVideo/YogscastMinecraftSeries''. They both found the map frustrating, badly-written, filled with poor ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' references, and just generally unplayable to the point that [[Music/{{Area 11}} Sparkles*]] (himself not a fan of the miniseries) had to edit out over an hour of the duo raging; this was his ''first'' editing job to boot, so he understandably wasn't that happy. In an ironic twist, people started flooding in to watch the episode again shortly after.
* The LetsPlay/{{Yogscast}} in general do not seem to be as fond of their time with WebVideo/GameChap as they once were. While the groups initially got on, a public falling-out has caused LetsPlay/LewisBrindley to openly bash them on the 2014 livestreams.
* [[LetsPlay/DuncanJones "Duncan's]] Park" was apparently the topic of much good-natured teasing among the Yogscast. The series was based on a very buggy mod and got mediocre views, and Duncan abandoned it mid-way. The embarrassment hung on because they had printed ''a lot'' of t-shirts for fans of the series, and wound up trying to sell them at every convention. Apparently as of 2015, on-camera ribbing by Kim and Sjin has led to the shirts finally selling out.
* LetsPlay/HatFilms are somewhat loath to admit that there used to be four members of Hat Films originally, hence the name '''HAAT Films'''. Whereas Smiffy later replaced Nathan Asheman after he left (who the group are on good terms with and talk about positively), there is another unnamed member that they don't talk about. Given the fact that the anonymous person was inspiration for the "Director Trott" video, it seems that they had a bad falling out.
* [[Creator/{{Egoraptor}} Arin Hanson]]:
** He said in Episode 29 of the ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'' ''VideoGame/SuperMario64'' walkthrough that he did several GagDub videos of ''Anime/YuGiOh'' before comedy dubs were a popular thing, which he didn't feel proud of and then took down from [=YouTube=].
** During the Dan-era playthrough of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast'', Arin stated he now hates the ''WebVideo/{{Sequelitis}}'' video he did for the ''Zelda'' series.
** He has said that when he posted the first episode of ''Metal Gear [[WebAnimation/AwesomeSeries Awesome]]'' on Website/{{Newgrounds}}, he thought it would get blammed (deleted for sucking).
* ''WebVideo/AgainAFanficCritic'' opinion of his readings eventually progressed to viewing all of his riffings of bad fanfiction as this. He first thought all of his videos prior to the reading of ''Fanfic/CurseOfTheDemonPony'' weren't very good and had a playlist with the episodes saying 'Early Stuff That's Not Very Good', but not for the same reasons as he came to view all of his riffings - he felt he was being petty by criticising inexperienced authors and so was attacking low hanging fruit. A specific example would be a reading of a fanfic ''An Old Friends Homecoming'', where he left a note in 2017 saying he was not proud of it. New videos ceased at the end of 2016 and in September 2019 he eventually deleted his channel.
* WebVideo/WatchMojo.com seems to regret putting ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'', which is generally considered Creator/DisneyChannel's best cartoon on its "Top 10 Hated Disney Animated Shows" list with the flimsy reasoning of the show's BlackComedy. Many viewers and fans cried foul and called [=WatchMojo=] hypocrites for using that as the only reason why while simultaneously praising ''WesternAnimation/InvaderZim'' despite the latter's ''[[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids far]]'' more twisted sense of humor. Lampshaded in the ''Top 10 Cartoon Shows of the 2010s" video where the narrator says: "Let's pretend this never made [=WatchMojo=]'s "Top 10 Hated Disney Animated Shows List"...".
* WebVideo/{{Phelous}} doesn't like his first review, ''Film/MacAndMe'', as detailed in the episode's commentary and his AprilFoolsDay video of him reviewing the review.
* The ''WebVideo/SuperMarioLogan'' episode "Jeffy's Bad Word!" quickly became this for Logan Thirtyacre, due to the massive backlash it received. The episode received its backlash for having Mario being cruelly and harshly tortured beyond his usual ButtMonkey status, to the point where he gets arrested despite trying to tell the truth, is considered a felon, and has [[NiceGirl Rosalina]], of all people, tell him off. What Mario did to receive all this was [[DisproportionateRetribution spank]] [[WhamShot Jeffy]] due to the latter [[InnocentSwearing repeatedly saying the F-word]] (no, not ''that'' F-word) after hearing it from him. About a day after the video was uploaded, Logan stated on Website/{{Facebook}} that he was making a video to make up for the episode, which ended up being "Chef Pee Pee's Birthday Surprise!", a video where Bowser Junior and his friends throw Chef Pee Pee a surprise birthday party. He also asked in the comments of "Bad Word" if he should delete it.
* Randy from WebVideo/ShoegazerProductions has, in a way disowned ''2Beats+'', his music review show. Once Trey quit, he basically tried to bury it, which angered quite a few fans who actually thought it was clever and well-written. It doesn't help that the overall tone of the sketch-review series clashes with the documentary-like feel of his other 2 shows. With the better reception of ''Adventures in Vinyl-Land'', his replacement review show, it's unlikely he'll ever bring it back (though he's hinted a few times he might if he can find another co-host).
* ''Everything'' Creator/JonGraham has made that is not ''WebVideo/ArbyNTheChief''. Even then, he's ashamed of a ''lot'' of the earlier seasons as well.
* Creator/LoganPaul and his incredibly infamous Japanese suicide forest vlog at the beginning of 2018, which featured a real dead body of a suicide victim, which drew so much backlash that he spent the next few days desperately apologizing for it.
* Mike and Jay of WebVideo/RedLetterMedia aren’t at all happy about one of their earlier films “The Recovered”. Mike even called it “A big, big, boring pile of shit.”
* In January 2013, Cyndi Seidelman of ''Website/GameShowGarbage'' made [[HePannedItNowHeSucks an induction bashing]] [[FanHater a fan site]] of ''Series/ThePriceIsRight''. She removed it in September 2017 for this reason:
-->"The Golden Fanbois induction is deleted and won't be returning to the site anytime soon. It was a terrible induction in poor taste and I fully regret it. I need to build bridges rather than burn them."
* WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter has a lot of these.
** His [[http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17iob3_my-top-11-screw-ups_tech Top 11 Screw-Ups list]] is full of these.
*** He is dissatisfied with many of his older MLP reviews, most notably "Bridle Gossip", because he felt like he didn't take the time to properly elaborate what he was trying to say.
*** His old feud with Byter over the status of MLP's quality.
*** He has expressed regret for attacking Charlotte Fullerton and Merriweather Williams in his "Putting Your Hoof Down" review, as he learned after making the video that Fullerton was forced to stop working on the script and hand it off to Williams after the death of her husband. He doesn't like the episode any more than he did, but felt that he went too far in personally calling out the writers, especially given the circumstances.
** Averted with a novel he was working on in high school, called ''Literature/LittleCassie'', which he thinks it was a bit pretentious, but overall pretty good. Ironically, [[DarkerAndEdgier the]] [[ToBeLawfulOrGood complete]] ''[[TearJerker opposite]]'' of his game ''VideoGame/EpicTheHumorousRPG'', which he genuinely does consider OldShame but believes it does have potential.
** Mr. Enter tends to be disappointed by reviews that clock in less than five minutes. His least favorite Animated Atrocity review is "[[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents It's A Wishful Life]]" because he was rushing to get something out and should have torn into the episode more. His least favorite Admirable Animation is the "[[WesternAnimation/HeyArnold Helga on the Couch]]" review for similar reasons.
** As stated in several modern post-rebrand reviews, such as "Fame and Misfortune," he openly regrets his former over-the-top tone and most of his controversial decisions, such as his ''12 Oz Mouse'' review. Some of his older, infamously angrier reviews were redone even before his rebrand because of his shame, such as "Pet Sitter Pat" where he attacked the writers and inadvertently brought harassment unto their Twitter pages.
** In his review of "Going Bananas", he expresses his shame at his previous ''WesternAnimation/RocketMonkeys'' review, noting that it was more of a rant against people who request him to review certain works than a true review, and that the episode came during a stretch of reviews that he now hates due to him feeling burnt out at the time of making them.
** Enter has stated that his review of "[[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents Lights Out]]" is one of the worst edited videos in his career, to the point that he fired the editor of said video for consistently poor editing (among other reasons detailed in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ6dW0iKz-0 this video]]).
* WebVideo/SomecallmeJohnny did a review on ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver'' in 2012, played up the joke of [[ViewerGenderConfusion not knowing what gender Bugsy was]] and called him "it" instead. Fast forward to 2019, Johnny brought up the joke in his review of ''VideoGame/PokemonLetsGoPikachuAndEevee'' and admitted making a borderline transphobic joke was not in good taste.
* Kiara Strings of [[WebVideo/TheMusicVideoShow The Music Video Show]] HATES her movie reviews because she says she was ripping off [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic The Nostalgia Critic]]. When she was asked on a video if she would do another movie review, her answer was essentially "Fuck no."
* Early ''WebVideo/{{Petscop}}'' videos would make multiple references to the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candace_Newmaker Candace Newmaker case]], but after a while they would disappear. Petscop's creator, Tony Domenico would admit they were intentional and a "bad idea".
* Creator/TeamFourStar:
** Their earlier writing in general is subject to criticism from them whenever they rewatch old episodes. It was so prevalent in Seasons 1 and 2 of ''WebVideo/DragonballZAbridged'' that they would play "Guess Which Movie Just Came Out" during the marathon that led up to the release of Episode 60 Part 1 based on how many lines or references to that property were made, such as when Bulma referred to herself as a "[[Film/TheAvengers2012 genius billionaire teenaged philanthropist.]]"
** The first half of ''WebVideo/HellsingUltimateAbridged'', but especially Episodes 1, 2, and 4. During the marathon that led up to the release of the finale episode, Kaiser and Lani both apologized in advance for what the viewers were about to see because of how different the internet was, how much of an UnintentionalPeriodPiece each episode was, and because of their over-reliance on internet memes and such.
*** Episode 1 starts with an anti''Twilight'' joke and features Catholic Priest child molestation jokes galore (as well as a rape joke that they all visibly cringed at). The finale takes a potshot directly at it when Alucard chastises a soul for hating on a book written for horny teenagers as being ridiculous.
*** Episode 2 is full of references to shows like ''Epic Meal Time'', among other things. It doesn't quite get as much flak as the others, but it still has them squirm uncomfortably.
*** And then there's Episode 4, and they had to pause and apologize again ''very'' profusely for a lot of things. For instance, in the first few seconds of the episode, a reference to Seras being "triggered" is made, they all sighed at the ''Portal'' Cake is a Lie reference, and generally seemed to bury their faces in their hands whenever Rip van Winkle was on-screen, because of how she was a vehicle for all of these references, as well as her being one giant TakeThat to the worst aspects of Tumblr, but with no actual character development of her own.
* WebVideo/JennyNicholson doesn't believe that ''WebVideo/FriendshipIsWitchcraft'' holds up very well. Her biggest concern is the frequent usage of the word "gypsy" in reference to Pinkie Pie, which Jenny and Griffin didn't realize was a slur for Romani people (it was used as a stealthy reference to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gypsy_horse a certain horse breed]] and more obviously in {{Shout Out}}s to ''WesternAnimation/{{The Hunchback of Notre Dame|Disney}}).'' When "Gypsy Bard" found a new audience with [=TikTok=] users in 2020, Jenny was pretty baffled and embarrassed.
* Most of the earliest creators of Let's Plays feel this about their oldest works. The Dark Id admits that he was an angry homophobic asshole when he made his Resident Evil 4 LP, and while Chorocojo isn't quite as embarrassed about his Pokémon Emerald LP (Both in 2006), he still doesn't like it very much.
* Zac Goold eventually took ''WebVideo/GoldStandard'' off [=YouTube=], and is ashamed of how amateurish it was (particularly one instance of SpecialEffectsFailure when a picture was badly photoshopped into a shot). It was the start of a dark period for him that he didn't come out of until ''Film/WhatIStandFor''.
* Bobby Calloway towards his first short ''WebVideo/{{Aaron}}''. While he's not too ashamed of the production quality, admitting it was simply a learning experience, he has nothing good to say about his own acting. On his ''Better With Bob?'' channel, he took down his first video on ''Literature/FlowerDrumSong'' over embarrassment at the audio quality.
* Most of ''WebVideo/TheNutters'' cast would rather move on from it, given it was made when they were sixteen and inexperienced. While they're grateful for it getting them their starts in the industry, and admit there are good parts to it, most would rather move on from it.
* WebVideo/SarahZ:
** She mentions a couple times in the Once-ler video that she actually was in the fandom for a couple months. That said, while she acknowledges it was stupid, she defends it as having been basically harmless nonsense that actually did make sense if you were on the ground at the time, even if the final result was kind of idiotic.
** She's also not too proud of her earlier nitpicky complaining videos - usually titled "Why X is terrible" - although they did help her acquire her initial audience. She lampshaded in her video on the ''{{Series/Supernatural}}'' finale and the 'Destiel' ship that she's far more interested in people and how they act/react to things rather than complaining about a work's flaws.
* Anthony O'Reilly Jr (also known as ''Tonto'') loves to make fun of his first attempts at a web series - ''Dead or Alive'', which was just shot on a camcorder with his friends when he was only sixteen.
* LetsPlay/{{Markiplier}} is not fond of the video where he showed how to [[ShakingTheRump twerk]], to the point where in an interview with ''WIRED'', he said that it's one of the biggest regrets he's done on the channel.
* Alex of ''WebVideo/IHateEverything'' isn't fond of his review of ''Film/TheLastJedi'', as he brings up in his ''Film/TheRiseOfSkywalker'' review--not because his opinions on the movie have changed, but because he focused the video more on ''fan reaction'' to the film rather than the film itself, which caused some people to think he was saying it wasn't OK to dislike the movie.
* ''WebVideo/{{Caddicarus}}'' has repeatedly decried his earlier videos. He even dedicated entire videos solely to bashing his first-ever video game review (''Rascal Racers'') and his entire early cache of sketch-comedy videos (which are on the "Nostalgiacad" channel). Much later, he declared everything prior to the end of 2019 to be an old shame, primarily due to their bizarre and forced humor (such as the "slaughter or salvage" gag, which he abandoned).
** He even took it to the higher level in October by putting "[OLD]" to all his pre-2020 videos, in order to further disown them.
* Michael Stevens of ''WebVideo/{{Vsauce}}'' [[https://youtu.be/5hClQ-OER3Y isn't especially proud]] of the channel's early videos, which were full of clickbait and VulgarHumor, though he has left them all up for posterity.
* ''WebVideo/Rank10YGO'' does not care for several of his "Legacy of the Worthless" videos, as he feels they're "simple, uninformed banter at best" and he is not fond of his editing and scripting from this time period. In particular:
** Worms: A case of CowboyBebopAtHisComputer on his part led to him not realizing that the deck was at one time competent enough to see success at tournaments, which alone put it head and shoulders over pretty much everything else in the series. When he organized his War of the Worthless tournament (in which each player represented a different deck from the series), Worms were the only deck not represented for this exact reason.
** Genex: Rata regrets not highlighting how the archetype is tied to the other Duel Terminal decks lore-wise, as well as completely missing the synergy it has with Machine Duplication that allows the deck to make formidable (if inconsistent) plays until the Genex player in the aforementioned War of the Worthless showed it off during the tournament.
** Neos: Despite having a disproportionately high amount of views, Rata has commented on the video saying it is "old and not very good" and telling viewers to just watch his Archetype Archive series instead.
* Creator/JacksonLennon:
** He devotes an entire video to making fun of material from his previous channel - made before his transition. He spends the whole video laughing and cringing at his behavior ("why did I feel I had to do the ghetto hands?"), as well as making fun of the old videos' overexposure.
** In 2018, he starred in a web series called ''Teen Life'', and devoted a video to how excited he was to be part of an upcoming TeenDrama. Then it came out and was quickly destroyed for its laughably bad writing, with a heavy-handed {{Anvilicious}} tone.
* WebVideo/JoCat isn't fond of the original ''A Crap Guide to D&D - Cleric'' video because he had gotten so many things wrong about it.
* Miles Jai seems to regard most of his earlier work as this, as several of his older videos, which were rougher quality, have been deleted. Only some of his older videos, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPnP_zlYU44 particularly the one that made him famous]], are still up.
* Many Agents in the ''Fanfic/AntiClicheAndMarySueEliminationSociety'', an organization that [[MarySueHunter hunts down]] {{Mary Sue}}s, will sometimes use Sues that they once wrote.
* The ''WebOriginal/ProtectorsOfThePlotContinuum'' has been known to feature sporkings of the writers' own badfics.
* The first two ''Literature/ChaosFighters'' installments are set for rewrite because of this trope, namely being lower quality compared to the rest of the series.
* The first installment of ''Roleplay/TheMassiveMultiFandomRPG'' (now gone from the Internet, unfortunately) was considered this by at least a few GM's and players, in part due to its silliness compared to the later seasons, and the lack of strict standards which resulted e.g. in several highly overpowered characters.
* Early in her career, Creator/EllieKemper starred in the Derrick Comedy sketch [[IntentionallyAwkwardTitle "Blowjob Girl"]], where her character offers an offscreen man oral sex, but turns out to have [[GroinAttack a rather painfully incorrect]] idea of what the act entails. The sketch proved unexpectedly popular, so she had to deal with things like being introduced to live sketch comedy audiences as having been featured in "that blowjob video". In a later AV Club interview she said "I really don’t like that video, and I wish that I hadn’t done it, even though I know that it’s a joke"
* Mike Richards regretted comments he made on ''The Randumb Show'', a podcast he made while executive producer of ''Series/ThePriceIsRight''. Reports surfaced that he made derogatory comments towards women (particularly the models on ''Price''), Haitians, Asians and Jews on top of saying elitist remarks. Mike [[KeepCirculatingTheTapes scrubbed all references]] to ''The Randumb Show'' on his website soon after. It would not only cost him his job succeeding Creator/AlexTrebek as host of ''Series/{{Jeopardy}}'', but also his position as executive producer of that show and ''Series/WheelOfFortune''.
* Creator/NorthaDawn, most known for his AnthropomorphicPersonification of the RMS Titanic, has voiced out regret over his old work and their decision to start their art career doing personifications of the Titanic numerous times to this day despite trying their absolute best to not do any disservice to the victims of the tragedy unlike other artists who have done the same.

* ''WebComic/GrrlPower'': ''Webcomic/GrrlPower'': When it gets brought up that Sydney would be good for the team since Maxima is a PR disaster after she [[NoodleIncident destroyed a mosque]], she's quick to retort that '''it was just the one'''. And anyway it was an accident. ... Mostly.
* Creator/DougWalker:
** Although he may be slightly embarrassed by one of his first works, starring himself as a cowboy, he uploaded it to [[Website/ChannelAwesome ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com]] anyway for all to laugh at.
** His poorly received sketch "Melvin: Brother of the Joker". The Channel Awesome re-upload of it outright referred to it as "one of Doug's worst sketches ever" in the video description. Hell, Doug ended up [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt3ylhrqxtI killing the character off]] during a donation drive, and later shared a fan-video where [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QILHwuzgSpk the Joker himself reacts violently to Melvin's video]].
** His highly obscure character "Emo Jones" may also count, having only received one sketch and having gone virtually unmentioned since.
** WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic's LetsPlay he did of ''Bart's Nightmare'' fell under this rather quickly, primarily because a) it was too {{angrish}}y and b) he was on vacation and wanted to give the fans something other than commentaries. In the following episode, the Critic ended up ''going to prison'' (one symbolically placed right next to a location from [[Film/TheGarbagePailKidsMovie the movie he hates more than any other]]) for making the video and publicly apologized to the masses who wanted his blood.
** This trope was {{exploited|trope}} InUniverse by Creator/MaraWilson. She showed Doug's old videos as a kid in order to get {{revenge}} on him for mocking her work as a kid. In his commentary for that very review, Doug said that he picked the very worst movies he made, as a response to people thinking the previous OldShame childhood movies he showed clips of weren't so bad.
** Rob Walker was never interested in ''WebVideo/DemoReel'', and only agreed to put the show into production because Doug had wanted to do it for five years.
** While he admits that the video was funny, Doug regrets how he [[http://channelawesome.com/how-i-quit-my-job/ quit his old job]] because of how unprofessional it was.
** [[ButtMonkey Nella]] from WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick: "Rule Number One! [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick We]] don't talk about Rape Rap!"
** During interviews and episodes of ''Podcast/{{Radiodrome}}'', Creator/BradJones has expressed embarrassment over his early videos as WebVideo/TheCinemaSnob. Not only was most of his early stuff shot in very poor video quality and lighting, but he also feels his presentation was too much negative ranting and not enough comedy. Also, because he originally posted them on Website/YouTube, they're often only under 8 minutes long. Despite his embarrassment, Brad just leaves the videos as they are and actually enjoys poking fun at them in his newer, better videos.
* Website/TVTropes:
* ''Wiki/SCPFoundation''
* [[WebVideo/AtoptheFourthWall Linkara]]:
* WebVideo/JonTron
* [[Creator/{{Egoraptor}} Arin Hanson]]:
* WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter has a lot of these.
* Creator/TeamFourStar:
* WebVideo/SarahZ:
* Creator/JacksonLennon:

* Creator/DougWalker:
* Website/TVTropes:
* ''Wiki/SCPFoundation''
* [[WebVideo/AtoptheFourthWall Linkara]]:
* WebVideo/JonTron
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQP73dAq7jc#t=1013&channel=BlazeFox89 this video]], LetsPlay/LewisBrindley admits that he is ''not'' a fan of the "Wizard Gandy" map that he and LetsPlay/SimonLane did as part of the ''Machinima/YogscastMinecraftSeries''.
* [[Creator/{{Egoraptor}} Arin Hanson]]:
* ''Everything'' Creator/JonGraham has made that is not ''Machinima/ArbyNTheChief''.
* WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter has a lot of these.
* Creator/TeamFourStar:
* WebVideo/SarahZ:
* Creator/JacksonLennon:
* Creator/NorthaVelvet, most known for his AnthropomorphicPersonification of the RMS Titanic, has voiced out regret over his old work and their decision to start their art career doing personifications of the Titanic numerous times to this day despite trying their absolute best to not do any disservice to the victims of the tragedy unlike other artists who have done the same.

Added DiffLines:

* ''Webcomic/{{Megatokyo}}'' author/illustrator Fred Gallagher is known for his self-deprecating remarks about his earlier work. His detractors once tried to use this to stain his reputation by revealing {{fanservice}}y early drawings of possible precursors to the comic's female characters; in response, he publicly revealed the whole "hidden" site, showing that he wasn't hiding anything - he was just embarrassed about his old art.
* An in-universe version was used for a ''[=MegaTokyo=]'' [[http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=417 gag strip]].
* As mentioned above, before ''Webcomic/HeartCore'', TL Welker did a gag-a-page comic called ''Unsound of Mind'', where some of the central characters for ''Heartcore'' would originate from. She has long since discontinued [=UoM=], and has stated whenever asked about it that she doesn't ever want to return to [=UoM=]. The closest thing one can find to [=UoM=] in her Website/DeviantArt gallery these days are the sidecomics of ''[=HeartCore=]'', which are written in a similar comedic manner.
** However, she has released some of the earliest pages to donators of the comic, which she gives in return for donations along with wallpapers.
** As of late 2013, Welker has decided to go back and redo the entirety of ''Heartcore'''s first story arc (the beginning through Ame and Lutz leaving Asgard), being displeased with the original comic's art and pacing. To this end, the whole first arc has been deleted off of her website (although the original pages still exist on her [[http://tlwelker.deviantart.com deviantArt account]]).
* ''[[Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick Order of the Stick]]'':
** While the comic has always had simple art, it has gotten significantly better and more detailed as the series has gone on. Enough so that Rich Burlew has admitted that he hates having to draw the characters in their old styles (necessary for continuity purposes) when making bonus strips for the book collections. One design choice he particularly hates is the jagged lines that used to separate panels, so much so that he straightened them for the books.
** {{Lampshade}}d in [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0649.html this]] comic:
--->'''Haley''': Nah, that cast page was painfully outdated anyway. We all look deformed or something.
** Also an in-universe example when Laurin Shattersmith [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0933.html deprecates her younger self's taste in heroes.]]
** In a non-artistic example, most of [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0959.html this strip]] is an apology for some of the sexist tropes that cropped up early in the comic.
** Within the digital releases of the books, Rich Burlew does express regret towards some of the early strips he made back in the 2000's. In particular, he regards [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0035.html strip 35]] and [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0249.html strip 249]] as particularly insensitive and uninformed regarding issues such as female objectification and transgender identities, and [[http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0020.html strip 20]] as he now considers rape jokes to be not funny.
* Before his explosive popularity as a [[WebAnimation/ZeroPunctuation games critic]], and even before his modest popularity as the creator of the ''VideoGame/ChzoMythos'' series, [[Creator/BenCroshaw Yahtzee]] ran several shortish webcomics on his site, which he has now gone on to disown completely along with every game he made before ''The Trials of Odysseys Kent'', as well as every work of fiction he wrote before the age of 20, as he doesn't want people thinking he actually cares about said work.
** In a Let's Play of the series on the Website/SomethingAwful forums, he indicated that he doesn't stand by the Mythos these days either, but considers it an important step in his learning about games.
* ''Webcomic/ExterminatusNow'' is mainly based on mocking the daylights out of a setting that attempted to make ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' DarkerAndEdgier by adding ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}}'' themes. [[WordOfGod Eastwood has gone on record as saying]] something to the effect of "...made something good out of, in retrospect, the worst idea I ever had."
* In its formative years, Website/PlatypusComix contained no archive. Some cartoons were literally only up for one week and then vanished forever. The practice was originally due to limited storage space (it began as a Geocities site) but was continued until 2006 as a means of quality control (anything the author ''didn't'' regret making was given a position in a selective archive section). Most of the pre-06 works are still offline, but lately they have turned up in book collections.
* Jackie Lesnick, of ''Webcomic/{{Girly}}'', took down her first comic down for this reason. As a result, a lot of people don't know there was a comic before ''Cute Wendy''.
* The author of ''Webcomic/MyRoommateIsAnElf'' took down the comic for this reason. The art was painfully terrible and the writing was rough draft quality at best.
* Tom Siddell has stated that he can hardly bear [[ArtEvolution looking at the early pages]] of ''Webcomic/GunnerkriggCourt''.
* Ethan Nicolle, the artist that draws ''WebComic/AxeCop'', [[http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=6285523&blogId=476404166 feels that way]] about ''WebComic/JesusChristInTheNameOfTheGun'' (a comic he drew and co-wrote) since he considers it a crude joke that went too far.
* Ian Jones-Quartey, who has since gone on to work as an animator, cited his embarrassment at early pages (which were artistically crude and sometimes fanservice-y) of ''Webcomic/RPGWorld'' as half the reason he elected to abandon the series. The other half was CreatorBacklash over fan dislike of his side project in the comic.
* JJW, one of the old guards of early-2000 sprite comics, has built [[http://spritecomics.wordpress.com/ a blog]] dedicated to tearing them a new asshole.
* Linkara has no problem bashing the first volumes of ''WebComic/{{Lightbringer}}'', admitting that not only is the art terrible (which is why he now outsources the artwork), but that the stories are excessively preachy. He invoked the Trope Name when explaining this on one episode of ''WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall'', saying he was "stupid and full of myself and didn't know any better" when writing it.
* This is largely how Shin-Goji of ''Webcomic/TwistedKaijuTheater'' regards the [[CuteMonsterGirl K-Girls]] these days, a sentiment shared by most (if not all) of their actual creators as well, to the point of him removing the link to their galleries from the main site. However, out of respect for their fans (and those creators still attached to the characters), he still hosts the galleries on his site, although the link to them now exists solely on their Website/DeviantArt fan group "Daikaiju Academy."
** This is particularly amusing considering that among the artists disavowing their K-Girl connections are a major long-time [[UsefulNotes/FurryFandom furry]] [[{{Yiff}} yiff artist]], another who's a regular contributor to ''Slipshine'' (focusing on dragongirls, no less), and an artist who specializes in hentai of ''[[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Ash Ketchum]] and [[ParentalIncest his mother]]''.
* Gina Biggs of ''Webcomic/RedString'' fame started a new webcomic, ''Webcomic/DemonAid'', in August 2013. Nine months later, she canned it due to it not living up to the quality standards of her and a lack of readership. While she left the comic up, she pulled almost all the links to it from all her other comic sites.
* [[Webcomic/{{Walkyverse}} David Willis]]
** He [[http://www.shortpacked.com/index.php?id=2111 feels this way]] about his earliest comic, ''[[Webcomic/RoomiesItsWalkyJoyceAndWalky Roomies!]]''.
--->'''Fan:''' Do you have any ''Roomies!'' books?\\
'''Willis:''' Oh, sure. They're over there, [[KillItWithFire in the bonfire]].
** Willis also considers his strip-swap with Creator/DavidGonterman (where they took over each other's strips for a day) to be this.
* Dan Shive shows a lot of remorse for the quality of the early ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' comics. Since he started adding [[TheRant rants]] to old comics, this came especially clear. For example, he [[{{Retcon}} denies]] [[http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=130 the]] [[http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=131 canonicality]] of some characters from an older high school newspaper comic of his in the EGS universe. He also shows regret creating Susan as a [[StrawFeminist Straw Feminist]] (she got [[CharacterDevelopment better]]).
* Canadian political cartoonist and pundit J.J. [=McCullough=], author of Filibuster Cartoons, considers much of his earlier work to qualify for this trope. His early cartoons were drawn in a less detailed manner, and his political views were far more extreme and reactionary than the more nuanced ideas he puts forward today. [=McCullough=] describes his first cartoons as the work of a "particularly naive, immature, reactionary teenager", and confesses that he produced cartoons and views that were "shrill and off-putting".
* Gigi D. G. practically disowned all their Webcomic/{{Hiimdaisy}} comics, despite the massive popularity they gave them. They wanted to improve and do something different and felt trapped in the "videogame parody" format. The overuse of [[MemeticMutation memes]] and quotes from their works from fans probably fastened the choice.
** However, after they said the fact, there is an Easter egg in ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' (a game with Gigi DG's involvement, namely they contributed extra art and testing) where if you enter "Gigi" on the naming screen, the shortened name for the "Steak in the Shape of Mettaton's Face" item will be "Fsteak" (as opposed to the regular "[=FaceSteak=]"), a clear reference to one of the Hiimdaisy ''VideoGame/Persona4'' comics, so make of that as you will.
* This is the reason Zanreo of ''Webcomic/{{Consolers}}'' felt it necessary to redo the "The Contract" storyline several years after it was first made, as the old one was "just bad all over". The old comics are still up, but she makes it clear these are the old versions and changed the description to a link to the new version.
* Done in-universe with the [[http://nobodyscores.loosenutstudio.com/index.php?id=274 Open Mic Shame Night]] strip of ''Webcomic/NobodyScores''
* Creator/DanaSimpson has admitted that ''Webcomic/RaineDog'' is this, both in large part to the massive hatedom and that she didn't plan it out as carefully as it should have. [[http://danasimpson.com/2016/03/19/raine-dog-legend-of-an-unfinished-comic/ She has written a blog post about it.]]
* ''Webcomic/PennyArcade'' pokes fun at [[ArtEvolution its rough original art style from when it started in 1998]] [[https://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2017/04/21/evolution here]].
* Stephen Winchell created ''Webcomic/NattyComics'' in 2017, a spinoff of his regular webcomic ''Little Boy's Room'', featuring one of its regular characters. In May 2020, Winchell [[https://twitter.com/SAWinchell/status/1260963178185289734 disavowed the webcomic]] and allowed the domain to expire, taking the comic and its archive offline.
* Christine Chandler, author of ''Webcomic/{{Sonichu}}'', eventually came to realise that the original ending of [[SeriesFauxnale Issue #10]] (in which the creators of ''Webcomic/{{Asperchu}}'' were subjected to a [[KangarooCourt show trial]] and then [[CruelAndUnusualDeath brutally executed]]) wasn't the most mature way of handling the bad blood between them. As a result, when the SeriesHiatus ended, Christine {{Retcon}}ned the ending so that they were exiled instead. She also regretted the rampant homophobia that is present in much of the comic.
* ''WebComic/GrrlPower'': When it gets brought up that Sydney would be good for the team since Maxima is a PR disaster after she [[NoodleIncident destroyed a mosque]], she's quick to retort that '''it was just the one'''. And anyway it was an accident. ... Mostly.

* This is actually the reason for the creation of ''Webcomic/ExterminatusNow''; the four writers once made a DarkerAndEdgier version of ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' by adding ''TabletopGame/{{Warhammer 40000}}'' elements, and later realised how stupid the concept was and decided to make fun of it.

* The main reason ''Webcomic/RPGWorld'' ended prematurely when it was on the verge of finishing. Creator Ian J. came to resent the direction he had taken the comic and in the end just flat out abandoned it. He did offer anyone interested to come finish it, but when the fans voiced their opinion, he told them to "F** K OFF!" and retracted the offer. Leaving the series to rot with NoEnding.

--> "''Better Days'' was created when I was a very different person. I had very different views, values, and priorities, and I evolved as a person as I was doing ''Better Days'' over the course of six years. There's a lot in Better Days that I wouldn't include if I was doing it today. There's a lot of things that I wrote that I wouldn't have written that way, now. I don't like looking at the old pages. I don't like looking at the old art. It's embarrassing and bad in my eyes. I don't like lingering on the past. It's enough that I've left the archive in place, and find myself having to explain some of the themes and events depicted in ''Better Days'', by a much younger, less mature creator, compared to who I am today."

* Kittyhawk of ''Webcomic/SparklingGenerationValkyrieYuuki'' fame started out with a fairly popular webcomic called ''The Jar''. Sometime around when she was having problems with her domain because of traffic, she took the whole website down. During the downtime between it and ''SGVY'', she came to really, really hate ''The Jar'' and absolutely refused to put the archives back up. This seems to have faded recently due to her now selling it on CD format.
* In-story example: Justin in ''WebComic/PunchAnPie'' submitted an absurd story about a bat with a gun to a publisher. They published it. People ate it up. Now he's one of the most popular writers around, and he's sorry he ever wrote that story.
* Before [[Creator/BenCroshaw Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw]] gained fame as [[WebAnimation/ZeroPunctuation a video game critic]], he wrote several webcomics. In his words, they "came out of a dark time in his life from which he has determinedly moved on without a backward glance." Moreover, just to make sure no-one would be fooled into thinking he cares about his old works, he has gone on to officially disown them, including every webcomic he ever made, every game made before ''The Trials of Odysseys Kent'' and every work of fiction he has written before the age of twenty, encouraging his readers to dispose of them in the nearest possible natural disaster should they ever get their hands on his old work. Makes sense, given his utter hatred of most gaming webcomics, especially ''Webcomic/CtrlAltDel''.
* This is the rule, not the exception, for virtually any Matt Wilson production (namely, High Score and its animated spin-off Bonus Stage) to date.
* A humorous parody happens in an issue of ''Webcomic/MacHall''. During a con recap in which about twenty webcomic artists are on stage at once, the others give non sequitur-esque answers (''Webcomic/SluggyFreelance'' was my grandma's nickname), Ian simply holds up a sign that has '''"YOUR MOM"''' on it.
* Josh Lesnick seems to feel this way about his older webcomic ''Webcomic/{{Wendy}}'', seeing as he's just recently taken the whole thing offline since it's already been there long enough in his opinion. The characters themselves, however, continue to live on in comics such as ''Webcomic/{{Girly}}'' and ''whatever22''.
* The creator of ''[[http://arcana.comicgenesis.com/ Arcana]]'' [[OrphanedSeries abandoned the project completely]] and reinvented her online identity so bitter fans wouldn't bother her about it, according to those who know her in RealLife.
* Rick Fortner and Rebecca Burg hate the original Job Hunting, the second story in their ''Webcomic/ALoonaticsTale'' series. The final form was hastily edited with [[ExecutiveMeddling unfortunate]] [[MoralGuardians restrictions]] on the amount of weapons and violence (ie there couldn't be any) in order to make it fit a school assignment. They're currently drawing a remake, Rehired, which is the canon version. They use the original version as a barometer of peoples' ability to detect quality and/or speak frankly; anyone who says they liked the original Job Hunting lacks the capacity to offer meaningful criticism.
* ''Webcomic/BittersweetCandyBowl'', The author got rather fed up at the unsettling number of fan characters in the community and the amount of focus they got.
* Creator/JayNaylor has [[http://fiskblack.livejournal.com/96465.html?page=2 expressed]] his disdain for his old comic ''Webcomic/BetterDays'':
--> "''Better Days'' was created when I was a very different person. * It is no secret that [[Webcomic/CtrlAltDel Tim Buckley]] ultimately came to utterly despise the characters of Scott the Linux guy and his pet penguin, Ted. Not only has he effectively written them out of the comic, he's gone to increasingly severe lengths to ensure no one knows who they were or even remembers that they even existed, up to and including ''banning'' anyone who says that they do remember them or even mentions them in any way.
** WordOfGod claims it's less despising Scott and more the fact that he was a one-note character that Buckley didn't know what to do with, beyond Linux jokes and his final TheReveal storyline.
* James Kochalka discusses it with his son in [[http://www.americanelf.com/comics/americanelf.php?name=americanelf&view=single&ID=43023 this]] ''Webcomic/AmericanElf'' comic.
* [[Webcomic/TwistedKaijuTheater Shin-Goji]] has been slowly purging his website of connections to the [[CuteMonsterGirl K-Girls]], which he initially introduced during a "darker period" of his life (before meeting his wife) as an attempt to boost traffic to his comic, culminating in his recent announcement of completely deleting all of their galleries from his server in favor of focusing on his own artistic efforts. Considering that almost all of the girls' creators had long disavowed them as OldShame as well, this is not entirely surprising.
* [[Webcomic/PvP Scott Kurtz]] hates his early works, which aren't printed, and [[http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/4th-panel has actually called fans stupid]] for liking them.
* KC Green has expressed large dislike in recent years for his earlier webcomic ''Horribleville'' and his short-lived series ''Literally All I Do All Day''. Later chapters he considers to be a big improvement.
* Michael Shelfer, the artist for ''WebComic/VampireCheerleaders'' since vol.3, admitted he didn't like Heather's character, by saying he thought [[FlatCharacter she was "one-dimensional"]] and said he didn't even like drawing her. Which was the main reason she was written out near the beginning of volume 4.
-->'''Shelfer:''' "[[http://www.pixietrixcomix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=527956#p527956 It was mostly because I didn't like her, nor do I like drawing her ha-ha!]] ([[WesternAnimation/TheClevelandShow Cleveland laugh]]) and she's far too 1-dimensional compared to Suki, or Katie, being along for the space-ride."
* David Willis has grown to really dislike his original webcomic ''[[WebComic/RoomiesItsWalkyJoyceAndWalky Roomies!]]'', sometimes the art, but mostly how much of a different person he is from then. Instead of distancing himself from it, he has chosen to republish it daily, often gleefully pointing out in the author's commentary how terrible certain elements are. At the very least it's a positive example though.
* ''Webcomic/{{Hiimdaisy}}'' has long retired from making video game comics and feels that the memes surrounding them have become [[DiscreditedMeme tired out]]. In response to an unofficial Website/{{Kickstarter}} campaign for an unofficial continuation of her comics:
