** ''VideoGame/JakAndDaxterTheLostFrontier''; technically speaking, Naughty Dog concieved this game, but once they found they couldn't develop it and ''Uncharted'' at the same time, they handed the project to High Impact Games, who proceeded to make their own version of the game from the ground up, essentially leaving Naughty Dog's version of the game as this.

Added DiffLines:

* DarkerAndEdgier. The ''Franchise/JakAndDaxter'' series went this direction starting with the second game. In general, their later games are this compared to their earlier work; just compare ''Franchise/CrashBandicoot'' to ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUs''; the difference is night and day.

* TomHanksSyndrome: We begin with the lighthearted platforming for Crash Bandicoot, involving cartoony animations and enviroments with pretty colors, animals, and a simplistic plot of "Defeat the evil scientist and save the world". \\
\\
This carries forward to the first Jak and Daxter game, which mixes platforming and open wide worlds instead of linear levels, and a more dense story with (not mad scientists but Eco Power domination), but still simple.\\
\\
Jak 2 introduces guns, sci-fi guns, and removes the nice enviroments for a downright depressing city ruled by a dictator. Jak 3 follows the trend.\\
\\
Now we move into Uncharted, going away from the cartoony lands we once head to the real world. A more mature story with human characters, with Drake providing some of the "best" humor (subjective as to whether or not it's actually funny). There are guns, but real ones, and we kill a lot of people. The story has the feel of an Indiana Jones movie.\\
\\
Take this realism and turn it into the Post-Apocalyptic world of The Last of Us, now with zomb-err... Infected people. (They will make you shit your pants). Now with realistic gore, and a story driven by loss of family, the loss of allies, lots, and lots of psychological conflicts (plus, less platforming compared to Uncharted, based on expansive exploration and, well, shooting stuff).

* Canceled Projects
** Al O. Saurus and Dinestein, a side-scrolling video game based on time travel and scientists genetically merged with dinosaurs, (a spoof on Back to the Future and Jurassic Park). If Naughty Dog never signed on to the company, there would be no Crash Bandicoot but they would make this game.

* ''Franchise/CrashBandicoot'' (UsefulNotes/PlayStation), the console's de facto mascot. Naughty Dog nurtured and developed Crash until ''VideoGame/CrashTeamRacing'', then sold the franchise, unintentionally causing the series to start JumpingTheShark.
