In 1972, she had one scene in Film/CarryOnMatron and proved popular with the Film/CarryOn team; they wanted her to return in the next in the series, Film/CarryOnAbroad, but (like with Chastity Belt) proved to be unavailable, and so Creator/SidJames got his Series/BlessThisHouse co-star Creator/SallyGeeson to fill the role of Lily Dickey. Smith also played a Bond Girl - Miss Caruso in the first scene of Film/LiveAndLetDie, being recommended for the role by Creator/RogerMoore, who had done a scene with her in an episode of Series/ThePersuaders.

->"I found myself TypeCast: I was a couple of breasts with a face above them and a squeaky voice. Everyone thought I was brainless, and I was stuck with that image for the rest of my career."

Madeline Smith, (2 August 1949), is a British actress best known for appearing in comedy and horror films in TheSeventies and TheEighties.

Her first film role was in Escalation. Two years later, she did her first work for Film/HammerHorror in Film/TasteTheBloodOfDracula, credited as "Maddy Smith". Other films she did for Hammer were Film/TheVampireLovers and Film/FrankensteinAndTheMonsterFromHell. In 1971, she appeared in Film/UpPompeii (the film version of the TV series). The star of the film, Creator/FrankieHowerd, hoped for her to return in the sequel, Film/UpTheChastityBelt, but she was unavailable. She did however return for the third and final film, Film/UpTheFront.

On TV, Smith made appearances in five episodes of Doctor at Large, eight episodes of Series/TheTwoRonnies, an episode of The Howerd Confessions (reuniting her with Frankie), and two episodes of Series/AllCreaturesGreatAndSmall1978 as two different characters. Smith gave birth to a daughter, Emily, in 1984, and so began to take fewer acting jobs to care for her. This lasted until 2011, when she appeared in an episode of Series/Doctors. In 2019, she lent her voice to an audio play to celebrate fifty years of Up Pompeii.
