John Marcellus Huston (1906–1987) was an American director, screenwriter, and occasional actor who made films in a variety of genres across a long-spanning career. His films tended to match his own personality -- tough, stylish, always with a bit of a threatening edge.

John Marcellus Huston (1906–1987) (August 5, 1906 – August 28, 1987) was an American director, screenwriter, and occasional actor who made films in a variety of genres across a long-spanning career. His films tended to match his own personality -- tough, stylish, always with a bit of a threatening edge.

He was also a well-regarded, Oscar-nominated character actor, most notably as the villainous Noah Cross in ''Film/{{Chinatown}}''.
