* NonSingingVoice: Cummings fills in for Creator/JeremyIrons (the last part of ''Disney/TheLionKing'''s "Be Prepared"), Creator/ChristopherLloyd (in ''WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}}''), Russell Means (in ''Disney/{{Pocahontas}}'') and Alan King (in ''WesternAnimation/TheBraveLittleToaster Goes to Mars'') -- and, in each one, he sounds like a dead ringer for all of them.

* OldShame: According to his comments about it at various Comic Cons, Cummings hates everything and anything having to do with ''Film/TheGarbagePailKidsMovie''.
** He's also not proud of his work for the movie ''Film/TheMangler'' providing the vocal effects for the title killer machine, although he enjoyed working with the director Tobe Hooper being a fan of his previous work, he thought the movie was terrible and it was unrewarding with the stress it caused on his vocal chords, and he was glad to discover his name was spelled wrong in the credits.
** Averted with his role as the Terror Mask in the 2010 ''Splatterhouse'' reboot; rumors circulated that he was embarrassed with the gig, but he has no problem with it.
* TheOtherDarrin: Besides replacing Jeremy Irons, Christopher Lloyd, Russell Means, and Alan King during musical numbers, Cummings was the second voice of Monterey Jack on ''Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers''. Monty's first voice actor was Creator/PeterCullen, who was replaced as Cullen was not funny enough.
** He's also replaced Sterling Holloway as Pooh, Paul Winchell as Tigger, and Mel Blanc as the Tasmanian Devil (all of whom have died).
* PlayingAgainstType:
** In ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoV'' as a foul mouthed police officer, gun clerk, and radio announcer.
** Before that, he played the incredibly foulmouthed Terror Mask from the 2010 ''VideoGame/{{Splatterhouse}}'' remake.
** Ed, Don Karnage, Pete, Psy-Crow, [=NegaDuck=], Fuzzy Lumpkins... Not bad for someone whose stereotype is primarily locked down to Pooh and Tigger.
** His take on [[WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM Dr Robotnik]] was not only a villain, but a monstrous, serious one. Less against type, he also played the clownish ''Adventures Of Sonic'' rendition in the pilot.

* ProductionPosse: For Creator/{{Disney}} as a whole. If there is a Disney-produced animated work, odds are, he will be in it.
* TalkingToHimself: He's Pooh and Tigger in the ''Franchise/WinnieThePooh'' franchise, and voices five characters in ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck''. And that's just on a normal basis. Not to mention that when he takes over singing for Scar in "Be Prepared," one of the hyenas he's singing to is Ed, also voiced by him.

James Jonah "Jim" Cummings (born November 3, 1952) is widely considered to be a successor to the late Creator/MelBlanc. He speaks in a deep, gravelly voice for most roles, but can do many variations of it. His skills as a mimic have earned him scores of opportunities at Walt Disney Productions, in particular. At Creator/{{Disney}}, Cummings not only replaced the ailing Sterling Holloway as the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh, but later took over as the voice of Tigger when well-known ventriloquist and voice actor Creator/PaulWinchell retired, and also voiced Crud. Cummings was hired to sing the last part of the song "Be Prepared" in ''Disney/TheLionKing'' after actor Creator/JeremyIrons was unable to sing the more demanding parts of the song, and he also voiced Ed the Hyena. He also sang for another non-singing actor Christopher Lloyd for the song, "In the Dark of the Night" in the animated film, ''WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}}''. He also played the star of the series ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck''.
