Bill Burr is a short tempered, pasty, alabaster-skinned, freckled, orange-haired stand up comedian from the (safe suburbs of) Boston. His comedy is frequently concerned with the rigid standards imposed on men by the masculine ideal via social conditioning and peer pressure and shows open contempt for the notion that WomenAreWiser. A lot of his material plays on {{Double Standard}}s tropes, distaste of stupid/fat/lazy people. In spite of his words, he is a nice guy, deep down.

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Fought against the idea of having ADD for a long time, until he was having an emotional moment about a deceased friend and comic, Patrice O'Neal. During the conversation he looks at the ceiling, notices a spider and completely goes off in another direction about the spider. When he looks away from the spider to his wife, whom he had been talking with, the look on her face finally let it sink in that he has ADD.

** Bill frequently jokes about killing himself, and sees people who [[DyingMomentOfAwesome die in spectacular ways]] as heroic. Considering his age, he's probably just joking.

In particular, he commends Donald Sterling on not using the N-word once in his recorded statements despite being an 80 year old white man who spent his formative years watching a completely accepted all-white baseball (plus, if his statements there actually do represent the views he's had all his life, he was probably considered a flaming hippie back in the day).

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: He only started a podcast at the insistence of a fellow comedian, Robert Kelly. If that hadn't been the case, his podcast likely never would have gotten the success it's grown into.

* RetroactiveRecognition: Rewatch The Chappelle Show and you'll spot Bill in a few scenes.

* OldShame: One of his initial 'jokes' was wearing his dental assistant's mask at the end of his act... then waving and going off stage. He didn't have a joke for the prop and he's stated it's the worst joke he ever did, in terms of lack of humor.
** His early career in general. When guesting on a show with Kevin Pollack, Bill Burr describes watching an old VHS tape in which he has a horrific outfit on that is only slightly worse than his jokes.

* DoingItForTheArt: He's recorded a special at Carnegie Hall, recorded a special entirely in black and white and has released a special on vinyl, all because of how much he loves the art of comedy.
