* PromotedFanboy: Gary Grossman, an otherwise mild-mannered accountant from the Pacific Northwest whose obsessive fandomship and collecting of all things Groo led to a friendship with the creators and a permanent volunteer job as Sergio's booth assistant at SDCC, as well as being officially recognized as The World's Number 1 Groo Fan, For Whatever That's Worth (if there's one bigger, Gary would certainly like to meet them!). His collection of Groo reprints, memorabilia, etc is larger than that of Sergio and Mark's as well.

* EatTheDog: Subverted; when Groo first meets Rufferto, Rufferto thinks he's found a caring new master, but what he sees as Groo's affection is really just hunger. Soon afterward Groo thinks he ''has'' eaten Rufferto and becomes overwhelmed with guilt. When Rufferto finally shows up alive and well, Groo genuinely becomes a caring master.

* PrefersGoingBarefoot: Most characters (including Groo): footgear seems reserved to royalty, priests, and the wealthy.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Most characters (including Groo): footgear seems reserved to royalty, priests, and the wealthy.

* SpringtimeForHitler: Groo is usually trying to do what's right ([[StopHelpingMe emphasis on 'trying'.)]] Whenever he attempts crime or villainy, somehow, it winds up benefiting his 'victims'. In ''The Death of Groo,'' his attempt to become public enemy number one ends with the townspeople carrying him through the streets, while onlookers cheer and scatter flowers before him.
