The starting premise (that HYDRA had control of SHIELD) has yet to be reconciled with Hickman's other book ComicBook/SHIELD (although references to "the Spear" in both suggest that a reconciliation is coming). The most recent revelation on this front is that, between Leonardo's Brotherhood of the Shield and Fury's SHIELD, Leonardo ran an organization that included Strucker and Fury, and this group led to Fury letting Strucker believe HYDRA controlled SHIELD. More may be revealed if SHIELD escapes its ScheduleSlip.

!!Tropes for the 2017 series:

* AdaptationDistillation: Much like the previous ComicBook/AgentsOfSHIELD comic, the book is largely based on the show's version of the Secret Warriors rather than the earlier group. Daisy is the sole returning member, while instead of being Nick Fury's secret weapon the team is a group of Inhumans formed to protect other Inhumans. Besides that though, Daisy is the only member of the show's team with everyone else AdaptedOut, replaced instead with random Inhumans from the comics.
* BrokenPedestal: Solicits indicate this will be part of the reason for the team uniting; after Steve Rogers has been victim to a CosmicRetcon that turned him into HYDRA's secret weapon, Daisy and Kamala are shocked into action, due to both holding deep respect for Captain America (Daisy having worked closely with him in the past).
* ScheduleSlip: Originally set to tie-in with ResurreXion, the book ended up being curiously left out of solicits before being re-announced as part of the Secret Empire event, complete with a new premise.
* UnexpectedCharacter: A few people raised eyebrows when they saw the new roster. Quake was obvious, Karnak makes sense. But Ms. Marvel, who only recently founded the Champions? The 9 year old Moon Girl and her definitely not stealthy Devil Dinosaur? Those aren't characters who you'd expect to be on an espionage team.
* WolverinePublicity: This will be the third ongoing book involving Kamala Khan, including her own ongoing and the ComicBook/Champions2016 series. All three are placing Kamala as the lead character (with Secret Warriors having her share that role with Daisy).
