The mood is mostly comic, but it has moments of tension, suspense and drama. It has won the award to the best manga of spanish author twice. It began in 9/24/2008 and is still ongoing.

* InverseLawOfComplexityToPower: Elementals of "pure" elements can control both its element and any element descended from it - so a copper elemental can only control copper, while a metal elemental can control every metal, including copper. An elemental that could control the theorical fundamental element Alcahest would be able to control all substances in nature.
** Though the fact that they can control more elements doesn't necessarily give them an advantage.

** It's also said that all of the Five Elements dominated the five levels of combat before turning 18.

* AllAccordingToPlan: [[spoiler: Benjamín´s]] plan seemed to be turning out pretty smoothly... Until chapter 46 that is.

* ArmorPiercingQuestion: "What do you want, Benjamín?". "Peace". "And what do you do to achieve that peace you crave so much?".

* BatmanGambit: This is probably what [[spoiler: Benjamín ]] is trying to accomplish.

* BerserkButton: Stating that Kaji and his father are similar. Beating Lluvia in a fight. Defying Matarratas´ intelligence, saying anything offensive towards his dead relatives, specially his grandfather Sebastian. Talking abour "legends" during Leo´s class. Talking casually about Benjamín in front of Ember.

* BoldExplorer: Kru, Benjamín and Kaji, in their dangerous seek of truth.

* ForScience: Bombastus´ main drive fr everything, from [[spoiler: helping Benjamín with his plan]] to [[spoiler: kidnap Lluvia]].

* GuileHero: Captain Kru tried to talk Benjamín into becoming this to achieve the peace he wished for. [[spoiler: Now, we can´t be sure if he really meant it...]]

** Igna, when she found out [[spoiler: Benjamín was under arrest]].

* HotBlooded: Igna, Benjamín´s wife, couldn´t be anything else than a fire elemental.

* TheIdealist: Captain Kru saw young Benjamín as this, and it amused him a lot, even if he said he was jealous of his possitive thoughts.

** Also, Zap may act like a moron most of the time, but harm Ouroboros and he'll unleash a thunderstorm in your face.

* BlindSeer: The Was family of shadow elementals are always blindfolded. They see with their soul.
* BloodKnight: Lluvia is happy at the perspective of going through the League again because she will be able to kick asses.

** Some people believe that the king´s policy of forgetting abaout the past, even science and history, is for the better.

** Zap asks Sôkar how to say "five" in Ancient, just to replicate a Spanish joke with that number. But Sôkar only knows the Ancient numbers up to four. Turns out the Ancient numbering system is in base 5, meaning there are only single-digit numbers up to four, and that's a plot point later on.

** Also Sauce: "I can´t go to jail! [[GranolaGirl They eat meat, and don´t recycle!]]"

*** Not only that, your speech will also be unintelligible to non-lizard speakers.

* CrazyPrepared: Bamboo elemental and SS soldier, lieutenant Bumba uses creativity to counter his enemies powers, and overcome the CripplingOverspecialization many elementals suffer.

* DamageSpongeBoss: Both Finalmigo and the yótum, even if both of them are later [[OneHitKill destroyed in one hit]]

* DisappointedInYou: Dino to the main cast, after the Heliopolis adventure. It hits Lluvia pretty hard.

* DrillSergeantNasty: Lluvia instantly becomes this after Matarratas asks her to train him in order to be a better fighter. Sokatr found it quite amusing.

* FiveManBand: The Five Elements. Also the protagonists might be this, even if two of them hate Kaji with passion, and the roles can't be clearly defined.

* GirlWithPsychoWeapon: Lluvia can control her razor-sharp umbrella with her powers (it has water inside). It´s also a [[SwordCane Sword Cane.]]

* GoLookAtTheDistraction: Part of Mr. Aquarrica´s plan, he needed the teachers out of town, so his assistant told them the yotum was in the mountains.

* GreatOffscreenWar: The Zero Day can be considered this. We got some images on the Ember Chronicles, but not much was revealed.

* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Kru believes Benjamín to be this, and Benjamín in turn believes kaji to be this.

* ParentalSubstitute: Rubeola is this to Matarratas. Also Desangrador, until recent chapters.

** That weird technique Adler used with Kaji has this as a side-effect.

* PsychoSerum: The Dusk Virus is something like this. It corrupts you little by little, consumming you and making you go mad.

* RemovedFromThePicture: [[Válbrandur is missing his head on his Heliopolis´ Portrait depiction. It has been burned or teared off, and the mark connects with H. Arian´s left eye]]

* {{Revenge}}: Lluvia was actually scared that the reborn Uroboros would attack her after what happened in the temple. [[spoiler: Of course, being an Alcahest elemental, she has nothing to be afraid of.]]

** The cast found aout that Benjamin is [[spoiler: in prison]] way after the readers.

* VillainousBreakDown: Mr. Aquarrica brings an ice giant to crush some of the town so Ember, the town guardian, will get fired. Too bad Ember is out of town.

* {{Asspull}}: Lluvia and Sôkar by chance happen to know the Ancient Language in which the book is written.
** Might not be such an asspull, all things considered: Sôkar's grandfather might have been researching on the Ancients because he knew there was an Ancient temple in Beluga Town. A temple whose energy Sebastián Rattengift used for his experiments, which then brought Ember (and so the book) to that town. That still leaves Ken Válbrandur out of the equation, but it's not so blatant.

* AllYourPowersCombined: Matarratas explains that an Alcahest elemental, Lluvia, for example, could manipulate all the elements.

* SecretKeeper: Zap keeps silence about Kaji´s book. Eventually, Lluvia, Matarratas and Sokar become this as well. [[spoiler: And then, Dino and Rubeola, as well as possibly Leo and Lambda, join the bunch.]]

** Bombastus: "I don´t know any [[spoiler: Adler]]

* TheLibraryOfBabel: Leona City´s is actually just a big library, but due to the general lack of books in the whole country, specially about history, it´s treated like this.

* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: reborn Uroboros. The fact that is quite affective doesn´t help.

* TheUnReveal: A minor one in chapter four, that [[Foreshadowing turns into a big one in hindsight]]: As Kaji's narration says "I guess all of us have secrets, that sooner or later will come out to light", Dino is about to use Leo's power analyzer to snoop on Kaji's blood, but the machine breaks right at that moment. It's only after you know about [[spoiler: the Dusk virus]] that that moment becomes significant.

* ArtificialHuman: Hiedra´s team, created by Dr. Bombastus. Special mencion to Kei[[spoiler: ,who was made with the power of controlling both fire and shadow]].

* AllThereInTheManual: A lot of information is found only in the book format, including backstory of the elemental world, or the element of certain characters.

* ApologeticAttacker: Sokar.

* {{Asspull}}: Lluvia and Sokar by chance happen to know the Ancient Language in which the book is written.

** Except when Karol told Kaji that maybe he was going to see Benjamin if he stayed in Leona City and tried hard to win the League.

** Arc 2: [[spoiler: Anpepon, the Mentalist Solider]]

* BossVulnerability: Matarratas thinks Finalmigo is a type two: "Surely he attacks, then gets vulnerable [[GenreSavvy and we hit him]] [[RuleOfThree three times"]].

* BrainwashingForTheGreaterGood: Desangrador said he was going to do this to Anpepón after he attacked the main cast. [[spoiler: It´s actually a case of [[CantKillYouStillNeedYou Can´t Kill You Still Need You]]. He also ends up killing Anpepón.]]
* BreakingTheFourthWall: From time to time.
** Only in the first arc and maybe the start of the second. It gets slightly more serious after that.

* ByTheEyesOfTheBlind: The Kimikoho is a special vision that allows virus elementals to see all the elements that compose nature and every being or thing, thus making them able to manipulate them with ease. [[spoiler: Matarratas inherited it from his grandfather, Sebastián Flu Rattengift.]]

* ChekhovsSkill: When Kaji had a heart attack, Matarratas taught Zap how to reanimate somebody by using electric shocks. Later, that ability comes in handy when he has to revive [[spoiler: Sokar]]
* ChildProdigy: Kaji's father, Ember, is this with his elemental powers. His brother, Benjamin, is an intelectual genius.

** Matarratas can create and modify very complex chemical mixes, even those made by an expert proffessional. [[InTheBlood He inheritted it from his grandfather.]]

* ContractualBossImmunity: Finalmigo is invulnerable to Matarratas´ [[TouchOfDeath virical attacks]], as well as the other Labyrinth enemies.
* CompletelyMissingThePoint: Kaji: "I'd rather choke on my own vomit!!" Karol: "You know i don´t like you to drink with haste".

* ConLang: The Ancient Language. Ken Válbrandur´s book is written completely like this. [[NewPowersAsThePlotDemands Lluvia and Sokar also happen to know some of it, because Sokar´s anthropologist grandfather did teach them a bit.]] So does Benjamin. And Adler.

* CrushKillDestroy: The robot teacher Lapicero (mechanical pen) becomes this when his software fails, or when he wants to scare someone. He is normally very nice to children.

* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Water elementals have blue, plant elementals have green, fire elementals (mostly) have red, virus elementals seem to be violet and so on...

* CuteBruiser: [[BitchInSheepsClothing Or at least, as much cute you can think Lluvia is...]]

* DarkestHour: The end of chapter 37. Let's see: [[spoiler: Lluvia and Matarratas had been captured by Bombastus' "children", Sokar is on the verge of death since his shadow bond with Lluvia has been cut, Zap is all alone against a foe much more powerful than him, and Kaji has lost his fire powers and is also close to death]].
* DarkIsNotEvil: Matarratas may be quite jerkish, but he isn´t evil. And Sokar is probably the nicest guy around.

** Kaji´s team for the League is called "Fire13". Guess wich elemental branch all the members belong to.

** The uncrossable Ocean. Also the Labirynth´s mental world, arguably.

* [[EmergencyTransformation Emergency Body Change]]: While fighting Karbo, Zap finally revives [[LivingShadow Sokar]], [[spoiler: who binds with him so they can face Karbo]].

* {{Familiar}}: Hugin and Munin, the Was family giant, dark, [[SesquipedalianLocuaciousness adequately verbose]], shadow elemental crows. They were not aware of Sokar´s dirty business, but they decide not to tell Sokar´s parents.
* FantasticRacism: Ember is this in spades, and it causes people to think Kaji is one as well. It´s also very common between fire and water elementals. Also people in general against virus elementals, since they harm or downright kill anything they touch. Also, psychic elementals are feared and despised due to their ability toi read minds.
** This led to the anihilation of air and earth elementals, all of them killed during the chaos of the Zero Day.

* HotDad: Some.

* HotShounenMom: Karol, Kaji´s mother, and Rosita, Amor´s mother. Also unnamed Sokar´s mom. Kaji´s grandmother Sirona didn´t look bad either.

* InfinityPlusOneElement: Alcahest is theorized to be this. It´s existance is mostly hypotetycal tough, and it´s existence has not been officially recognized. At least if you don´t count the ruins under Mount Pito. [[spoiler: And Lluvia.]]

* EarlyBirdCameo: Literal example: Hugin and Munin appear briefly in chapter 33, before their debut five chapters later.

* ChromeChampion: Karbô has a skin made of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphene graphene]] (atom-width graphite), two thousand times stronger than steel.

* ChromeChampion: Karbô has a metallic skin.

** A closer study of the Ancient language shows that it's little more than Catalan (a language spoken in part of Spain) spelled backwards and with vowels thrown in randomly, in what appears to be a parody of "katakanization". When it's not, it's just [[CypherLanguage Spanish spelled in the Ancient alphabet]].

* AnachronicOrder: The two flashback chapters of Benjamin's chronicles have this, partly to reflect Benjamin's (present-day) mental state, partly to put the climax of the chapters in place, and partly [[TrollingCreator to leave readers in the dark]] about some things that happen in between.
