Formed by Lieutenant Colonel Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke in 1942, the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, also known as the Strike Witches, is a specialist unit composed entirely of witches originally stationed in Britannia and later in Romagna. Their primary duty is defending the area where they are stationed from Neuroi. After liberating Gallia from the Neuroi in 1944, they were disbanded, however they were reformed in Romagna six months later to help defend the area after the disastrous Operation Trajanus. During the liberation of Gallia, they were one of the squadrons under the command of Trevor Maloney, after they were reformed to defend Romagna they were placed under the command of Adolfine Galland.

* MysteriousWaif: Ginny is noted to be an oddball among her squadmates. She's a Witch who was unaware that she was one until her meeting with Inori and Milasha in London, little is revealed about her background beyond her profile and the show stating where she comes from, and she and her familiar, Moffy, an oddity by himself, hold a mysterious power that's rare even among Night Witches (who're already a rarity by themselves in the setting). She kicks off the series when she sings in public using her powers, which motivates Grace to continue her goal of establishing the Luminous Witches squadron despite nearly giving up a moment before. Her first encounter with Moffy was also very miraculous by nature and her unique partnership with him is intentionally given no explanation even in post-series discussions by the [[WordOfGod creator]].

* GeniusDitz: Mana's capability as a Witch is highly dependent on the very capricious Kyuu-chan and she herself tends to march by the beat of her own drum. Yet, despite her difficulty in understanding technical terms, she's shown to be a talented pilot, is capable of easily learning difficult flight maneuvers so long as they're communicated to her in a way that she can digest, and somehow figures out how to change the color and size of her shield on a whim, a feat no other Witch has accomplished in the franchise proper prior to her teaching her friends how to do it themselves.
