* {{Jerkass}}: [[spoiler: As a child, he persuaded Percy to accompany him on the train to Germany, and then used his identification card to avoid being sent away, leaving Percy to be sent away alone. This act of selfishness can be justified because he was a child, but he maintains his self-preserving attitude in adulthood, as we learn in Sally's part of the game that he still chose to revoke his offer to escape together even after learning that she has a baby. While he later expresses regret for what he did to Percy, he does not express the same sympathy to Sally despite, at that point, having no idea what became of her after he left]].

* ParentalNeglect: While Sally loves Gwen very much, due to having to keep her existence a secret from the residents of Wellington Wells, Sally occasionally has to leave baby Gwen alone in her apartment for long stretches of time while on missions.

The third playable character. Ollie is a skeptical Scottish veteran with a few stitches loose, and was Arthur and Sally's neighbour during their childhood. Life has taken a toll on him; he's got diabetes, severe memory problems, and hallucinates his daughter, Margaret. After finding out the truth about the German encampment, Ollie sets out to uncover what's ''really'' going on in Wellington Wells.

* CloudCuckooLander: By the time Arthur meet him, Ollie had been talking to the picture of his [[spoiler: assumed]] daughter Margaret and mannequins for many years.
* CrazyIsCool: Yes, he hears voices, but they give him good advice. Combine that with his comical belligerence, and aptitude for blowing things up, and you effectively get a one man steamroller rumbling very loudly through the otherwise creepily polite and oppressive Wellington Wells.

* ShellShockedVeteran: Thanks to his experience with the German invasion and having lived by himself in the wilds against wastrels for decades, his mind has been not been in good shape. In the cutscene where Arthur meets him in person, he nearly beats him with a cricket bat, both out of mistakenly assuming him as a wastrel and a brief traumatic flashback when Arthur questions his sanity and doesn't seem to realize he was attacking Arthur just a moment before when he does recognize him.
* TragicKeepsake: The handkerchief tied to his left arm belonged to Magaret, [[spoiler: who was turned over to the Germans and caused overwhelming guilt to Ollie]].

* PoliticallyCorrectHistory: Despite encouraging the Wellies to forget about the past altogether, people kept asking about it so Uncle Jack wrote and released a book about the events of the War. It almost certainly presents a false account of the war.

* WhipItGood: Her primary weapon in WhipOfDominance: Victoria Byng is the duty-obsessed Director of the Department of Archives at City Hall and is something of a ControlFreak. She is frequently carrying a whip with her, as a visual symbol of her 'duty' motif, and as her DLC is a whip that she can use to grapple onto certain points."We All Fall Down" shows, she's very adept at actually using it in combat.
