* DistaffCounterpart: With Saryn. Both Warframes have themes involving the illness and disease and excel in crowd control with their abilities scaling in damage in larger groups. While Saryn deals with toxins and contagion to weaken the armor and health of enemies, Nidus is more akin to a virus adapting it's DNA to overwhelm everything in it's path.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: Subtly. While her upper body appears to be normally slim, the rest of it goes off when she has unusually literal curvy legs.
* CombatStilettos: Octavia has the most elongated and sharpest pair presented in Warframe so far.
* DanceBattler: Her idle animations were mocapped from dances, and her ''Metronome'' ability buffs the entire party for fighting in-sync with her music.
* DistaffCounterpart: Octavia's design arguably translates into a sharp and curvy, female geometric of Vauban while showing off her Mandacords as armor parts instead of grenades. Her abilities are also involved in activating her own devices to generate music in her stead.
* DroneDeployer: ''Resonator'' summons her own version of the infamous [[GoddamnedBats Grineer Roller]] enemy. Her Rollers are perfectly harmless... until they pick up her ''Mallet''s.

* GrenadeSpam: Inverted. Octavia's ''Mallet'' effectively explodes an area with music instead of actual explosives. The sounds of attacks will resonate onto the Octavia's drum music while in range, essentially becoming a spam by the grenade itself if orchestrated properly.

** IronicName: Octavia comes from ''octave'', referring to an 8-note musical scale, even though her Mandachord only has 5.

* ShoutOut: Her Diva [=TennoGen=] skin bears a remarkable resemblance to [[Music/{{Vocaloid}} Hatsune Miku]].

* ArmorIsUseless: Despite of what is spoken as a Tank-based character, Rhino's default armor is roughly below average compared to the current roster of Warframes, making him ironically squishy in health... [[SubvertedTrope but first]] you have to get through his [[ExtraOreDinary Iron Skin]] and DeflectorShields. And he can rapidly build up his armor through ''Ironclad Charge''.

* ContractualBossImmunity: ''Averted'' most bosses excluding the assassins ''can'' be stunned by Rhino Stomp, albeit with a shorter duration, and diminishing returns.
* CrutchCharacter: Rhino is regarded to be this by advanced players. Despite being Mastery gated, his parts drop from one of the first bosses that players encounter - three planets in, of course, meaning he may as well not be gated at all. Due to his versatility and near-passive survivability, he's frequently employed at all levels of play, making it difficult to gauge a player's level of experience. However, ''Iron Skin'' can rapidly disintegrate under fire at high levels, catching inexperienced Tenno off guard. With mods, however, a carefully built Rhino becomes a living crutch for the team's survivability and damage potential.

* FoeTossingCharge: Performs one of these as his very first ability, and can charge into someone hard enough to instagib them.
** Any mook that survives (even the big ones) are sent flying. With Atlas summoning a giant rock wall that turns into a rock ball, they're probably bowling buddies.
** NotTheIntendedUse: Players often use ''Rhino Charge'' just to overcome Rhino's mobility issues or escape from combat, while DE probably intended it to be an initiation move.

** A possible build, though it involves juggling with mod cards that don't really play to Rhino's strengths.

** Became more straightfoward with the buff to ''Rhino Charge''. It now costs basically nothing to chain it and dash straight across the entire map, sending enemies flying and buffing Rhino's armor all the while.
* NoSell: The main effect of ''Iron Skin'', which makes Rhino immune to almost all types of CrowdControl (without a special Warframe mod which only offers a chance to resist) until it absorbs a certain amount of damage. The only exceptions are the slowing effect of ice damage as well as the projectile vomit of the Nauseous Crawler.
* OneStatToRuleThemAll: Inverted, many of Rhino's late-game builds relies on all ability statistics but one, Efficiency. As Power Duration keeps tabs on Roar and Stomp minimizing constant recasting of the abilities, Power Range maximizes his Rhino Charge and his other Area of Effect abilities, and Power Strength for the most solid use of QuadDamage with his Roar while improving his other abilities. If all of his abilities are strongly amplified this way, the gap between repeated uses of his abilities widens, making his Power Efficiency redundant.
** Power Strength once he has Iron Shrapnel and Ironclad Charge. Ironclad Charge's armor bonus per target hit is increased by power strength. Power strength also increases the armor-to-health ratio of Iron Skin, and Roar's damage boost, which affects Iron Shrapnel, which itself is based on Iron Skin's health.

* RhinoRampage: He even makes rhinoceros sounds as he charges.
* ShockwaveStomp: His ultimate skill, ''Rhino Stomp'', which distorts time from the sheer force of the stomp.

* SpamAttack: ''Rhino Charge'' gets it's cost cut in half every consecutive use, up to a ''quarter'' of it's starting cost......on top of being the cheapest skill to begin with.........and power efficiency. At low levels, rhino can plow through small armies, at high levels, he can still turn the room into a demented bouncy castle and build up obscene armor through ''Ironclad charge''.

* BoobsOfSteel: Only Rhino has a bigger chest than her. Her base health is matched with Oberon, her armor is exceeded only by the tankiest of Warframes, comes with a reliably large energy pool that can be used for Quick Thinking, and one of her abilities boosts her melee damage and defense through blocking.

* NotTheIntendedUse: Saryn has always been intended by the devs as a frame that causes damage over time by spreading devastating plague-themed debuffs to entire crowds. However, the only build the playerbase considered viable for any level of play was exploiting a quirk of her ''Miasma'''s damage algorithm, dropping her "Power Duration" to less than a second, and dealing 10,000 damage every time you pressed the 4 key. The devs not-so-secretly hated this "nuke Saryn", culminating in a radical rework in Update 17 that made "nuke Saryn" completely ineffective but "GradualGrinder Saryn" both more deadly and less gradual.

* StatuesqueStunner: Saryn is considered to be one of the most attractive Warframes by the playerbase and is one of the tallest as well. Her new idle animation makes her tower over her peers as she stands confidently upright instead of crouching for battle.

* AmbiguouslyHuman: Her body frame is particularly unusual, it's even more distinguishable compared to the other Warframes tied with Death and Egyptian themes. It was implied [[spoiler:that she was a decaying symptom of Warframe design as Silvana, Titania's creator, was contradicted with the fact that she had to build the technology to destroy rather than being under her own philosophy.]]

* HollywoodThin: While Titania's body frame isn't nearly as thin as [[{{Mummy}} Inaros]], it's still slimmer than most female Warframes in general.

* OneHandedZweihander[=/=]SmallGirlBigGun: Normally, the massive size of Archwing weapons compared to their users is justified by them being weightless in space, allowing the Tenno to swing them effortlessly. However, ''Razorwing'' can summon weapons of equivalent size ([[SizeShifter comparatively]]), and Titania has no problem swinging them with gravity turned ''on''.

* ShowgirlSkirt: UpToEleven, though naturally the skirt is meant to actually [[ClothesMakeTheSuperman be her wings]].

** Prior to her release, the developers stated at one time that she could copy up to ''35'' different powers with this effect. By release, it [[{{Pun}} shrank]] down to four.
* WhyAmITicking: ''Lantern'' turns its target into a bomb.

* BoringButPractical: She may not be very interesting to play, but the team support she offers is immensely powerful. Whatever mission you're running and whatever your squad looks like, Trinity is almost always welcome.

** NotTheIntendedUse: Alternately, one could ''avert'' this trope by casting Link and Blessing, then firing explosive weapons at your own feet - thereby transferring all potential explosive damage to nearby foes instead.
** Inverted goes to Well of Life. While dealing damage to the tagged target will get your health back, it [[StoneWall buffs the health of your enemy at a massive bunch]] but renders the target immobile.

* ManaDrain: ''Energy Vampire'' allows Trinity to continuously stun and drain an enemy's life force to receive energy. It's something of a game-breaking ability, as it returns more energy than it costs to the Trinity (and can be modded for an even bigger gap), and has very little risk to use as the target can discharge its remaining energy upon death.
** NotTheIntendedUse: ''Energy Vampire'''s periodic damage scales with the target's maximum health at the time of casting, which can [[OneHitKill instantly kill an enemy]] if timed to cast as ''Well of Life'' is wearing off.

* NotTheIntendedUse: While designed as a support healer frame, Trinity can easily out-tank Rhino, and through Link has potential infinite scaling DPS, so she lacks the fall-off most damage-oriented frames and abilities have. The best team composition as of Update 13 is four Trinities, maybe swapping one out for a Nekros.
** ''Link'' can also be used as an improvised early warning system, alerting the player to nearby enemies.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: ''Well of Life'' is vastly overshadowed by her ultimate ability, as ''Blessing'' has an infinite range unaffected by line of sight, restores shields, grants damage reduction, and its healing scales with their maximum health.
** UselessUsefulSkill: As a result, ''Well of Life'''s greatest facet is the ability to lock down one target, but it doesn't work as often for this as ''Energy Vampire'' and [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard multiplies their health while active]].
*** Its Augment, ''Pool of Life'', falls even harder into this trope. If the afflicted enemy is killed during the power's duration, it drops health orbs with a chance of an energy orb.

** Visual-wise, personally beats the general bulky male tank Warframes with more than twice the armor while [[WaifFu remaining in slender form]].

** PrimalStance: While sprinting under the effects of [[UnstoppableRage Hysteria]], she spreads her arms out in a [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant rather disturbing backdrop]]. This is also her default stance with her Agile animation set.

** UnstoppableRage: Played relatively straight with ''Hysteria'', so long as it remains active.
* BodyHorror: It's no coincidence that "the tortured" Warframe looks like her skin was flayed and peeled. The default red streaks on her armor even look like exposed muscle. To top it off, the Corpus restraints on her arms have bolts that go ''through her bones''.
** [[CorruptTheCutie Corrupt the Beautiful]]: The developers have stated that a Primed iteration of her would look dramatically different, to emphasize how far down Alad V took her. {{Fanon}} has gone through several iterations to emphasize a pre-torture Valkyr almost TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth.

** The fact that there can be periods of weeks without seeing the same part repeat has led many players to the question, "[[MemeticMutation How is Booben formed?]]"

* TrickBomb: ''All of them.''
* UselessUsefulSpell: ''Bounce''. While it used to be a useful tool to get around into places you aren't really supposed to go, it has been rendered almost entirely redundant with Parkour 2.0's 'Bullet Jump' double-jump. Costly to cast, negligible damage in an unfavorable damage type, long reset time before bounces, and typically ''weaker'' than a Bullet Jump. At best, ''Bounce'' is good for some laughs by throwing it on a enemy/fellow player and watching them get flung across the level. It was eventually changed to be ''Minelayer'', which can be cycled between Bounce, Trip Laser, Shred and Concussion mines.

* CripplingOverspecialization: Electricity in general is quite effective against anything mechanical, making it great against the Corpus (who rely heavily on their robotic proxies in combat). Unfortunately, the Grineer have only a handful of mechanical units (and their armored units can resist it), and the Infested [[spoiler:coat their mechanical units in flesh]]. It does still have a brief stun effect, but you're usually better off just killing the enemy instead of wasting time with a status effect.

** GoodBadBugs: Ironically (as Volt is most effective against Corpus robots), this shield dramatically increases the damage of the Corpus-inspired Dera plasma rifle and turns it into a HitScan weapon.

* VeryFalseAdvertising: Has been accused of this; the in-game description of Volt claims that he is a "potent alternative to gunplay" and most of his moveset suggests he is a mobile caster archetype, but it has been repeatedly pointed out that ''Electric Shield'' just makes his firearms far more potent while pinning him down in one spot. His rework in Update 18.13 didn't help matters, allowing ''Speed'' to increase his reload speed...
** Perhaps a case of NotTheIntendedUse as with Loki's ''Invisibility'', since ''Electric Shield'' is advertised as his best ''defense'' rather than his most potent ''offense''.

* {{Combo}}s: To start in his background, all of his melee attacks encourage long, powerful combos, by having a longer combo timer.

area.

* FakeLongevity: Unlike the multiple parts padding from Chroma and Equinox, Wukong's longevity is time sensitive, taking drops from [[{{Unobtainium}} Nitain]], an Alert-only resource, that comes on four times a day, which is used to specifically build him. Keep in mind that each of the four parts of his research require Nitain as well - so your entire clan has to consistently run the Alerts each time they show up to get him in the fastest possible manner, which becomes less likely with larger clan sizes.

* NoSell[=/=]FeelNoPain: ''Defy'', a dedicated version of Quick Thinking, allows Wukong to take direct damage to energy; as every time his health depletes, it resets to a portion of his maximum health. Combined with a Rage mod to convert health damage into energy, the effect can be maintained indefinitely. What keeps this from being CompleteImmortality is that the effect diminishes each time it activates until it returns nothing, but this can be reset simply by toggling ''Defy'' off and on again.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Unfortunately, Wukong gets this from a few angles. Primal Fury is probably the weakest and least interesting of the Exalted weapons. Cloud Walker is extremely cumbersome and energy-hungry compared to other stealth abilities. Defy is technically superior to just about all of the other tanking abilities, but the others are still more than adequate, and the other tanks generally have team support in their kits to boot. What you have left is a Warframe that can take a beating but can't do much else.

** Originally it bordered on UselessUsefulSkill as, in addition to being limited to corpses (which despawn within fifteen seconds, giving a limited window of use[[note]]corpses that disintegrate still count as existing for those fifteen seconds[[/note]]), the cast time was lengthy (often taking players out of combat completely to use several times in a row), and its success is left in the hands of the RandomNumberGod; you were likely to find yourself simply unable to ''Desecrate'' a given corpse before it despawned ''several times per mission''. After years, ''Desecrate'' was changed to a toggled skill that would automatically consume corpses that entered range of the caster, allowing Nekros to harvest enemies while still actively participating in the fight.

* FakeLongevity: Farming for Warframe blueprints is always a tedious task that leaves you at the mercy of the RandomNumberGod, but Nekros was the first frame to involve more in the process than farming one node. To get his blueprints, you first need to farm up "nav coordinates" from crates within levels to build a key to access the Orokin Derelicts, then you need to farm up more "nav coordinates" from those Derelicts for the Assassinate mission against Lephantis. Each key can only be used to complete the mission ''once'', and nav coordinates are not guaranteed to drop from crates. These days, most players don't care as much about the additional hoops, since nav coordinates are commonplace, Lephantis keys can be shared, and newer Warframes have raised the bar so much higher.
** Oddly, Nekros and Lephantis also averted the trope; Lephantis was the first boss to guarantee dropping a Warframe piece on death, and the other bosses were changed shortly after to match.
** As a bonus, Nekros Prime was the first Prime Warframe released after the "Specters of the Rail" update altered the process of obtaining Prime items -- including releasing entirely new sets of Relics from which his parts drop, [[BagOfSpilling diminishing the value of players' existing surplus of keys[=/=]Relics and forcing them to grind for new ones all over again]]. Players' frustrations with this will apply to all other Primes going forward, but will diminish as more releases add more Relics to the table.
* TheGrimReaper: An obvious inspiration for his design. His "favored" weapon is even a scythe.
** Nekros Prime takes this even further by giving him a shroud shaped like crow wings.

Given that his main strength (speedrunning) is relatively useless in end-game scenarios, as well as general non-solo gameplay, one can see why.
** The release of his "Safeguard" augment gives him a niche as a group protector, able to cast a weaker ''Iron Skin'' over his entire team. * EvolutionaryLevels: Nidus relies on every hit dealt by his first ability, ''Virulence'', in order to grow stronger. His Evolution levels are even called Mutation stacks. True to this, half of his abilities are unavailable until his Mutation stacks are high enough to cast them.
* FakeLongevity: All three of his parts are obtained on Rotation C of the Infested Salvage mission, at 10% chance each. Repeating that mission over and over can get very dull, especially when you end up with duplicate parts when you only need one (or worse, no parts at all). The quest to get his blueprint, The Glast Gambit, also suffers from this, as it forces players through several rounds of the Index for no real reason. Thankfully, Nidus is well worth the tedium.

Research and build time isn't Fake Longevity, since you can go do other things while waiting for the Warframe to get finished.

* FakeLongevity: Regular Vauban can be pretty tough to acquire but his Primed variant takes it UpToEleven:
** First of all, all of his blueprints are rare drops, making "radshares" (a squad of 4 players, each of them having the same relic upgraded to Radiant) the only viable option to farm them.
** Once you finally have all the blueprints, you still have to deal with some insane crafting requirements: 20 Nitain Extracts (only acquired from time-limited alert missions 4 times a day) and 7000 Oxium (dropped by a specific type of enemy in amounts of 7-12 units) being probably the most time-consuming ones.

* FakeLongevity: Unlike the multiple parts padding from Chroma and Equinox, Wukong's longevity is time sensitive, taking drops from [[{{Unobtainium}} Nitain]], an Alert-only resource, that comes on four times a day, which is used to specifically build him. He's also a dojo research exclusive frame, much like Zephyr, adding 3 days of wait time to a total of roughly a week. Keep in mind that each of the four parts of his research require Nitain as well - so your entire clan has to consistently run the Alerts each time they show up to get him in the fastest possible manner, which becomes less likely with larger clan sizes.

* FakeLongevity: For players attempting to obtain her for free, Zephyr was released such that her parts could only be obtained from a Tenno Research Lab added in Update 12. After a clan obtains the materials for a lab, it spends 24 hours under construction. From there, players can begin researching Zephyr's main blueprint - which requires 3 days to research on its own - followed by an additional 3 days to research each of the three individual parts that her blueprint is a prerequisite for (assuming all three are researched simultaneously). This is on top of the three days that she already takes to build in your Foundry.
** These days, it's less of a problem, since almost all clans have already researched her for you, and Oxium drops (a major component for both her research and construction) have been greatly improved since her release.

trope no longer applies

* UselessUsefulSkill: ''Hysteria'' zig-zags this. Although it does scale itself with her melee weapon damage and critical modifiers, it ignores physical and elemental damage bonuses, status chance, the weapon's attack speed, Reach, and anything to increase Channeling damage, which sharply reduces the pool of weapons that Valkyr can benefit the most from and often means a drop in damage output. It also has a reduced Finisher multiplier[[labelnote:*]]Only 4x, versus most weapons' 12-''24x'' unmodded multiplier[[/labelnote]], on top of restricting the use of ranged weapons. On the other hand, it also grants the player complete invulnerability to damage and most status effects while active, provided they can take down enemies that come too close, which makes Valkyr useful for reviving allies or running off to locate objectives on her own, or simply triggering Hysteria for survivability and tanking damage.
** Update 17.5 overhauls Hysteria's mechanics to take into account melee weapon mods instead of weapon damage, which not only increases her potential attack damage significantly, it also allows her to wield any melee weapon without fear of reducing damage output, thus completely averting the trope.

* CastFromHitpoints: The Despoil mod makes Desecrate consume health instead of energy when cast. Desecrate has a very high chance of spawning health orbs in the first place, so it's not a bad trade-off, since it lets Nekros drop some efficiency in favor of mods to help his other powers out.

** The release of his "Safeguard" augment gives him a niche as a group protector, able to cast a weaker ''Iron Skin'' over his entire team. It also protects allies from status effects while active, and can last indefinitely in short missions (which are more suited to Nezha's speedrunning abilities anyway). The downside is that, being an augment, this utility is locked behind a grindwall.

Your graces, we who are beyond death, have forgotten the simple power of fear. Let us now remember. You will find no greater power than the simple thought of your own name, inscribed upon a grave.''
-->''Our harbinger. Our Terror. Nekros.''
--> ~ '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InN07z-8LwE Warframe: Nekros Prime]]'''

Released in Update 10, the Necromancy-themed Nekros was the runner-up for the first Design Council Warframe, though his abilities were chosen without player input. He manipulates clouds of nanobots to simulate the stereotypical effects of dark magic such as damaging his enemies' souls, striking fear into their hearts and reviving their dead under his control.

* AnimateDead: ''Shadows of the Dead'' qualifies.
** OurGhostsAreDifferent: Made up of nanobots rather than ectoplasm.
* ArachnidAppearanceAndAttire: His 'ribs' and Syandana give the appearance of spider legs, while his Raknis alternate helmet gives him the extra eyes.
* BadassCape: His exclusive ''[[AltumVidetur Mortos]] [[ScarfOfAsskicking Syandana]]'', which gives him shroud-like tassels across the back of his shoulders and hood. His Prime variant also has its own, fully-attached.
** DreadlockRasta: The other most common interpretation of his syandana.
* BoringButPractical: ''Desecrate'' doesn't cause enemies to combust, but it can make their corpses [[PinataEnemy give much-needed health orbs and ammo]]. Of course, it borders on UselessUsefulSkill as it's limited to corpses (which despawn within fifteen seconds, giving a limited window of use[[note]]corpses that disintegrate still count as existing for those fifteen seconds[[/note]]), the cast time is lengthy (often taking players out of combat completely to use several times in a row), and its success is left in the hands of the RandomNumberGod; you are likely to find yourself simply unable to ''Desecrate'' a given corpse before it despawns ''several times per mission''. However, it's all but required for high-level Survival missions to get enough life support off of enemies, and the ability to double-dip in loot tables make farming for mods and resources ''much'' faster.
* CloneDegeneration: Minions summoned by ''Shadows of the Dead'' lose a percentage of their health over time, rather than having a maximum duration. Nekros can heal the minions by recasting the ability, extending their lifespan if he cares to keep them around.
* CreepyCrows: Nekros Prime includes a built-in shroud that tapers off in the effect of sharp, bird-like wings. Given his naturally black color scheme...
* CreepyLongFingers: Nekros Prime has a tassel connected to each pinky, giving them this effect.
** Nekros Prime takes this even further by giving him a shroud shaped like wings.
* InTheHood: His basic helmet gives this impression.
* MagicFromTechnology: His powers, while similar to black magic, are all done through clever use of nanobots.
* TheMinionMaster: ''Shadows of the Dead'' resurrects a group of fallen enemies who fight for Nekros. Recasting the ability will summon any active ''Shadows'' to you, top off their health and fill out the remainder of their ranks if any died between casts.
* {{Necromancer}}: Well duh.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Thanks to the playerbase's single-minded focus on [[BoringButPractical Desecrate]], many people feel that Inaros does a better job as the death-themed Warframe than Nekros ever did.
* TheRedMage: Comes with the first health restoration alternative to Trinity's skills, and his other 3 skills draw heavily from the BlackMage. However, he also shares his polarities and most of his stats with Excalibur -- making him a caster with the energy capacity of a melee.
* SoulPower: ''Soul Punch'' turns enemy souls into projectiles.
* StandardStatusEffects: ''Terrify'' combines Fear and Curse, debuffing enemies to reduce their armor and otherwise being ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
* UselessUsefulSkill: ''Terrify'', which provides a damage boost against enemies and prevents them from attacking, but also makes those enemies untargetable (as they flee the room in an attempt to hide).
** To top it off, the damage boost is relatively low[[labelnote:*]] At maximum Power Strength, it's about a 50% boost on targets with 600 armor or higher; compare Roar, which reaches 142% universally with the same mods, and is the next weakest damage boost available.[[/labelnote]], does not stack with itself[[labelnote:*]] While it can be stacked with other sources of armor reduction, said other sources can remove 100% of armor on their own while Terrify can't even remove half[[/labelnote]], and only applies to armored enemies (limiting usage to Grineer).

[[folder:Nezha]]
[[quoteright:349:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nezhanewlook2.png]]
Another Warframe originally released in China, like Wukong, who made it to the global build in Update 18.1. A fire-based Warframe to draw from the original Chinese myth, but unlike Ember, Nezha focuses on the defensive and utilitarian properties of fire.

* DecompositeCharacter: Gameplay-wise, his abilities to spread fire to a large area and incorporate durability with said fire were once belonged to Ember. The former two namely were the old [[ConvectionSchmonvection World On Fire]][[note]]Retooled to a much smaller, subtler Firewalk[[/note]] and [[MagmaMan Overheat]][[note]]As Warding Halo[[/note]].
* DudeLooksLikeALady: It's hard for many players to believe that he's male at all. [[UpToEleven Even the]] [[DevelopmentGag developers]].
** Partially justified as in his home mythology, he's always portrayed as a pre-adolescent to adolescent boy.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: All of Nezha's abilities involve at least a spinning maneuver including an expanding wheel that rips through enemies when thrown as a SpinAttack.
* FakeLongevity: Formerly, Obtaining Nezha without spending Platinum was a practice that turned normal Warframe collection on its head. Nezha's component blueprints used to drop as rewards from Sorties, quests comprised of a chain of three high-level missions in a row, which can only be completed ''once per day'' and feature a heavily-diluted, rotating reward pool consisting mainly of weapon parts, Focus lenses, and other equipment. [[SubvertedTrope However]], Nezha had a saving grace in that his parts are also tradeable, which was a first for non-Prime Warframes. When Update 19 locked Sorties away behind ''The War Within'' quest, Nezha's parts were moved to Clan Research, avoiding this trope.
* FragileSpeedster: Designed to play effectively in {{Speedrunning}} and pits affectionately close to the majority of light-class Warframes, but only to topple everyone else in the sprint with an [[SlipperySkid incredibly low sliding friction]]. Slightly subverted in that his ability ''Warding Halo'' shields him from all damage until it's broken.
* FrictionBurn: Combined ironically with SlipperySkid is a common tactic for Nezha, with ''Firewalker'', to spread a crowd-controlling [[BurningRubber trail of fire]] which stuns enemies on contact.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: ''Divine Spears'', literally takes Radial Javelin to [[CrossesTheLineTwice its conclusion]] by pinning the enemies to the ground at [[SetSwordsToStun stunning capacity]] for a longer time only to take another great damage after that duration.
* InstantArmor: ''Warding Halo'' functions as this, and has the neat benefit of inflicting damage on anyone who can get close to Nezha. Enemies killed by ''Warding Halo'' are ''sliced in half''.
* LeetLingo: His maxed ''Warding Halo'' reaches health capacity to this number.
* MeaningfulName: Named after the deity Nezha in Chinese lore, who was entitled as the ''Third Lotus Prince''.
* OdangoHair: Sports a pair on both of his helmets, and [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny these things can glow]].
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Some players have taken to calling him a weaker Rhino, due to his lower armor, weaker and more expensive defensive ability, lack of a Roar equivalent, and much more finnicky crowd control that lacks Rhino's infamous ability to stun bosses. Given that his main strength (speedrunning) is relatively useless in end-game scenarios, as well as general non-solo gameplay, one can see why.
* PlayingWithFire: He can [[ConvectionSchmonvection run fast enough to leave a trail of flames]].
** FirePurifies: ''Fire Walker'' purges status ailments from allies, and ''Blazing Chakram'' causes affected enemies to heal allies.
* PrettyBoy: His physique has such a build, closely resembling Nova as a DistaffCounterpart.
* RingsOfDeath: His main weapon is a big chakram on his back. He can throw it for damage, or even teleport to where ever it lands.
* SlipperySkid: His entire suit is permanently attached to this kit making him nearly frictionless, allowing his slides not only go longer, but faster that makes him even beat Loki in a sprint race.
* StormOfBlades: ''Divine Spears'' is legitimately ''Radial Javelin'' on a vertical position.
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Deactivating ''Blazing Chakram'' while it's in flight will cause Nezha to be teleported to its location.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: Nezha's entire kit, with his CC resilience, teleport, movespeed buff, and reduced friction, make him ''very'' good at speedrunning, which is useful for showing off, but usually not very practical, excluding the various time trials in the Orokin Void, where being able to run to the end easily actually ''does'' turn out to be quite handy.

[[folder:Nidus]]
[[quoteright:272:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nidusnewlook.png]]
An Infested-themed Warframe released in The Glast Gambit update. Nidus is unique in that he grows in power over the course of the mission, by spreading Technocyte to enemies through his abilities. Like Inaros, Nidus has no shields; unlike Inaros, none of his abilities leech health. To compensate, he has innate health regeneration, stronger armor and powers that focus on crowd control.

* BodyHorror: Nidus is the deepest gradient of fleshy horror in Warframe by far. He gets even creepier once his Mutation stacks are at their maximum.
* CombatStilettos: Rare male version.
* CombatTentacles: Done in terrifying methods by ''Larva'' and ''Parasitic Link''. It is also [[TheSymbiote a rare supportive example]] to ''Parasitic Link'' that increases allies' damage to whom Nidus connects to.
* EatenAlive: Almost all of his abilities other than ''Parasitic Link'' involves slowly eating away your enemies while supplying Nidus the nutrients to evolve.
* EvolutionaryLevels: Nidus relies on every hit dealt by his first ability, ''Virulence'', in order to grow stronger. His Evolution levels are even called Mutation stacks. True to this, half of his abilities are unavailable until his Mutation stacks are high enough to cast them.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Much like the feral Infested, Nidus's body is covered in asymmetric growths.
* FleshGolem: Downplayed. His body only grows on itself and from the nutrients he absorbed through his abilities. No foreign body parts seem to be necessary for his evolution, not even a glimpse of what the Warframe used to be un-infested.
* TheJuggernaut: Not in the sense of moving forward, but in terms of gaining strength: Nidus becomes nigh-unstoppable and nigh-unkillable as it builds up mutations. In fact, Nidus actually requires a repeated npc DogPileOfDoom in order to reach its full strength.
** Its first ability costs energy, but regains energy on successful hits and builds mutation stacks. That means it can spam its first ability, Virulence on high level enemies without killing them to still gain mutation stacks. More mutation stacks will make virulence more powerful, until the maximum 100 stacks will make it instantly kill almost anything short of a boss.
** The third ability of Nidus allows it to link with a npc and shunt all sustained damage to that npc for the duration of the link, further increasing Nidus's unkillable status.
** Its final ability, Ravenous might cost mutation stacks, but will also generate them with kills and also provides an AreaOfEffect health regeneration boost.
** Nidus can resurrect at the cost of 15 mutation stacks. Because he can regain these stacks so quickly using Virulence and Ravenous, he's literally unkillable so long as the player continues to use those abilities in a target-rich environment.
** The only real upper limit to Nidus's abilities is to the damage it can do at 100 mutation stacks, not counting weapons. Most mission designs in the game that revolve around infinite waves of enemies require players to [[EscortMission protect a target]] or gather resources to prevent a countdown clock from reaching zero. Without these artificial restrictions, Nidus could potentially fight off waves of increasingly powerful mooks forever.
* LovecraftianSuperpower: His entire skillset is built around this ordeal.
* MacGuffin: DoubleSubverted. Despite being the Old War relic that gave Nef Anyo a pair of wide eyes, [[spoiler:his only involvement in the plot is to be an attractive bet to lure the Triuna out of Anyo's hands.]] Even his use in-game, Nidus himself is never mentioned further by Ergo Glast even it was already given to the Tenno by his reliable clients.
* MagikarpPower: A proactive showcase of it on EvolutionaryLevels. He starts out with a minuscule regeneration and is unable to cast his third and fourth abilities, since both those abilities consume Mutaton stacks instead of energy. At full Mutation, he is, health-wise, tougher than Valkyr, has the ability to regenerate health as fast he can take damage, has impressive crowd control abilities and, if taken fatal damage, can recover a portion of his health on the spot especially from damage done by powerful enemies.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: While he has no shields like Inaros and is nowhere near his health sink, Nidus regenerates his health constantly and is dependent on his EvolutionaryLevels to keep himself bulked up. He's also the first Warframe to experiment with level-up bonuses other than increases to health, shields, and energy. His "Mutation" passive also gives him uniquely scalable damage.
* MeatMoss: ''Virulence'' and ''Ravenous'' spread a [[VideoGame/StarCraft Zerg-esque]] creep in a large surface area (the latter at the expense of Mutation stacks), which kills off anything that was unfortunate enough to stand on the [[MeaningfulEcho ravenous meat moss]].
* NoSell[=/=]FeelNoPain: Once he's built up enough Mutation stacks, he can shrug off lethal damage, instantly regaining half his health and becoming invulnerable for a few seconds.
* OrganicTechnology: Uses the most literal organic methods of eliminating its enemies outright. It's also strongest example of what [[spoiler:the Warframes are entirely made of]].
* PowerCopying: A variation. Casting ''Virulence'' under the effects of ''Parasitic Link'' will cause a wave to be emitted from the target as if they cast it simultaneously, but Nidus will still reap all of the benefits of casting for the purposes of Mutation.
* RegeneratingHealth: While other Warframes can achieve the effect through various means, he's the first to have it as an innate, permanently-active trait. ''Ravenous'' allows him to amplify this while standing within the area affected by ''Ravenous'', as well as extend it to allies.
* TheSymbiote: ''Parasitic Link'' allows Nidus to boost damage to allies he links up with. It weaponizes itself as a defensive ability, similar to Trinity's ''Link'', if it manages to hit an enemies, on the other hand.
* TheVirus: A positive example. [[spoiler:The infection that Nidus was injected with by the orbiter, Helminth, provides a cyst that spreads to all unexpected Warframes. Growing this alien zit in an ''Incubator'' will turn it into an infested companion.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: A minor case, but remains as a literal example. [[spoiler:TheVirus on the host Warframe grows benignly and spreads to other Tenno without warning. Which means, a Nidus or an infected Warframe can accidentally invoke this for pre-''The War Within'' players.]]
* WalkingWasteland: A motif of all of his powers is that Nidus spreads the Technocyte Virus through the environment in order to evolve. ''Virulence'' briefly creates a corridor of Infested growths in a path in front of himself, while ''Ravenous'' blights an area for an extended period.
* ZergRush: ''Ravenous'' behaves this way; in a large area, maggots surround the amassed victims inside it, [[LifeDrain draining their health]].

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click to see Prime form.]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a3619c6b18828727487e94a6aecc3862.png]][[/labelnote]]
Released in Update 9, the antimatter-themed Nova bears the distinction of being the first Warframe whose design was influenced by player feedback via the Design Council. She is a GlassCannon through and through, specializing in dishing out ridiculous amounts of damage at medium-to-long range and falling quickly if she gets cornered without Energy.

* {{Antimatter}}: Supposedly what her abilities use to deal damage.
* BadassAdorable: [[CompanionCube A suit widely accepted of being cute as a button]], while strong enough to wipe entire rooms with a powerful, well-planned loadout.
* CombatStilettos: Less notable than on Saryn, since they're more like platform shoes.
* FashionableAsymmetry: The fibrous sleeve on Nova's left arm extends further up her arm than the right, while her left breast can also receive a different color option from the rest of her torso.
* GirlishPigtails: Her Design Council-approved helmet (Slipstream) has these, [[AscendedFanon which was heavily suggested]] [[VocalMinority by rather respectable minority]].
** Even more evident with her longer Primed variant.
* GlassCannon: In both playstyle and theme. The developers wanted to give her a very "porcelain" look, and succeeded. Compared to [[FragileSpeedster Loki]], she has slightly higher base health and slightly lower sprint speed, tying the two with Vauban for second-lowest shields (after Valkyr). Unlike many frames of her armor class, she also lacks any direct defensive skills or avoidance; however, ''Antimatter Drop'' and ''Molecular Prime'' are functional nukes in the right hands.
* HartmanHips: Nova's hips are particularly noticeable [[MaleGaze by a surprisingly large crowd]], compared to the hip-frames that the Ember Warframe casually scoffs off.
* HavingABlast: Her speciality. ''Antimatter Drop'' fires a bomb that absorbs damage and deals it to everyone caught in range when it detonates. In addition...
** MadeOfExplodium[=/=]WhyAmITicking: Her ultimate ability, ''Molecular Prime'', can cause nearby enemies to create [[UpToEleven chains of explosions]] when they die. It also conveniently slows them down severely and makes them take double damage for the long duration of the ability which makes boss fights where mooks swarm around the boss easier than most missions.
* HomingProjectile: Nova's ''Antimatter Drop'' can be guided in the air by the player who fired it.
** DestructibleProjectiles: Inverted. Shooting bullets into the bomb will make its eventual explosion ''more'' powerful.
* LittleMissBadass: One of the least bosomy females (comparable to Trinity), and the second-shortest (although being taller than Mag may be due to her platform shoes), but also one of the most powerful Warframes in the whole game for pure damage output.
* NotTheIntendedUse: ''Molecular Prime'''s [[StandardStatusEffects Slow effect]] holds an interesting property that subjects Power Strength in-between the default percentage of a hundred percent. Due to the way the Power Strength stat scales, players found that reducing it would allow ''Molecular Prime'' to increase the speed of enemies, making missions on large maps run much faster. The developers liked it so much they kept it in.
* OrbitingParticleShield: A literal example. As long as the ''Null Star'' particles do not chase after enemies, they give Nova a straight up damage resistance against any enemy that tries to shoot her down.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: Nova Prime has back pylons that open up to be shaped like pixie wings, as do the flaps on her helmet.
* ReverseShrapnel: ''Null Star'' summons antimatter particles around Nova which seek out and slice open nearby enemies; however, other than staggering opponents, this provides her no additional protection.
* ShoutOut: Her Slipstream helmet was heavily suggested to be inspired by Scarlet Rain from LightNovel/AccelWorld.
* SquishyWizard: Second only to Loki in squishiness but lacks his built-in evasion mechanics. On the plus side, Nova has some of the best abilities for locking enemies down and depopulating a level. Her fragility is an acceptable price for the joy of seeing a swarm of 60-70 plus mooks explode in a chain reaction with a single button press. This makes Nova very popular for Defense or Survival missions where the goal is "Keep the Nova alive long enough for her to clear the mission area".
* TeleportersAndTransporters: ''Wormhole'' allows her to create one-way portals between her target location and her current one. This can be used by her allies to reach new areas of the map, or to redirect enemies whom its invisible to.
** OurWormholesAreDifferent

Nyx is a psychic Warframe who is infamous for her sheer utility in missions with large groups of enemies that would swamp other characters. She achieves this by causing her targets to fight each other for long periods of time and kill or heavily damage themselves in the process.

* AnimalEyes: Her [[MeaningfulName Vespa]] helmet gives her compound insect eyes.
** EyesDoNotBelongThere: Her Prime helmet includes an eye-shaped gold plate in the middle of her face; her main horn protrudes from it.
* AttackReflector: Her ultimate ability ''Absorb'' plays a variation when activated; damage isn't dealt to enemies until the effect ends.
* CharmPerson: ''Mind Control'', of course.
* DistaffCounterpart: Her suit is actually designed as a female version of the Excalibur; the only difference (aside from physique) is her helmet. The developers have taken to calling her Excalibur's sister.
** WhatCouldHaveBeen: Originally, the developers were planning on making male and female versions of each Warframe; Nyx started out as Excalibur's female incarnation. Older cinematics even show her having her own version of Excalibur's helmet; this can be seen in the [[http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130729230907/warframe/images/d/da/MenticideIsSpy.jpg reward screen for her Menticide helmet]].
** CallBack: Like how Excalibur gets the armor from Dark Sector, Nyx gets the Nemesis skin which comes from the same game outside of it also being gender swapped.
* MagicMissileStorm: Her ''Psychic Bolts'' ability looses a swarm of energy blades that attempt to home in on targets.
** HomingProjectile
** UselessUsefulSkill: Many players have bemoaned the fact that ''Psychic Bolts'' is a blatant damage skill, in the arsenal of a utility- and control-based character. While it can deal the equivalent of an ultimate's damage to a single target, it deals less damage against multiple enemies than most Warframes' first abilities for double the cost. To top it off, the projectiles are tangible and will often redirect into walls or obstacles on their way to enemies, making it difficult to use in closed spaces (which comprise approximately half of all maps in the game).
*** Doubly true as of Update 13.3, where even ''Absorb'' costs less to initiate, with higher base damage.
* MeditationPowerup: Can sit down in the Lotus position to absorb damage attacks, then reflect them back to enemies. In fact, friendly fire can boost the eventual output.
** UnflinchingWalk: The augment for ''Absorb'' grants her the ability to move while using it, making her look like [[Franchise/{{Terminator}} a Terminator]] with certain weapons equipped.
* MindManipulation: Her ''Mind Control'' and ''Chaos'' powers are especially effective, the former making the target a temporary ally, and the latter making all enemies perceive each other to be enemies of greater threat to them than the Tenno. Mind-controlled enemies will use their abilities against their former allies or to the benefit of the Tenno (Ancient Healers heal you, Seekers throw Latchers at other Grineer, etc.). Bosses are generally immune to ''Mind Control'' though.
** SetAMookToKillAMook: Mostly effective with ''Chaos'' due to adjustments to the threat tables while active, although enemies will still attempt to attack the Tenno if they make themselves too noticeable.
* PsychicPowers
* {{Telekinesis}}: Manifests and guides her ''Psychic Bolts'' to enemies through this.

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click to see Prime form.]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oberonprimebust.png[[/labelnote]]]]

-->''Greed and denial will seduce any destruction... even our own. We're blind to future consequence, casting our debts on those to come. But what if now, the Gray Mother sought revenge? A brutal thorn... piercing the gushing ulcers of waste and industry. A new green... sown upon sanguine ground. Fertilized... with the the blood and bone of its defilers. Oberon.''
--> ~ '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij8Ql_RbdT8 Warframe: Oberon Prime]]'''

Oberon is a paladin Warframe introduced in Update 11.5. Unlike Trinity, he is built with a balance of healing and damaging skills.

* [[AllMonksKnowKungFu All Clergy-Inspired Classes Know Tai Chi]]: Strangely, his Agile idle stances emphasize this; notable poses can be seen when he is unarmed or wielding dual pistols.
* AnimalMotifs: Bovids (primarily goats); his body has twisted satyr-esque legs, cloven feet, semi-spiraling horns, thin limbs, wide torso, and elongated faceplate.
** His alternate helmets are titled ''Oryx'' and ''Markhor''.
** His Feyarch skin is covered in monarch butterfly patterns.
* TheBeastmaster: His current passive allows him to amplify his animal companions health, shields, and armor. Originally, his passive allowed him to mind control wildlife and even domesticated animals by proximity.
* ChessMotifs: Oberon Prime possesses several stylistic features that bring multiple chess pieces to mind. For instance, his helmet bears a neck frill resembling the Knight's horse, while his feet, hands and shoulder plates bear semi-circular plates ridged like the merlons on the Rook.
* ColorCodedElements[=/=][[GoldAndWhiteAreDivine Yellow and White Are Divine]]
* CrownOfHorns: His default helm.
* FaunsAndSatyrs: Draws some inspiration from it, leading the developers to state he might be druidic rather than a paladin.
* GreenThumb: ''Hallowed Ground'' creates a field of grass (or ferns when using his Prime variant) that cures status ailments for any allies standing on it, while granting an armor bonus to those affected by ''Renewal''.
* HealingHands: Special mention goes to ''Renewal'', which is the first non-ultimate direct-healing Warframe ability.
** LastChanceHitPoint: The augment for ''Renewal'' allows him to instantly revive himself or teammates from fatal damage, with a cooldown for each target.
* ImmuneToFlinching: ''Hallowed Ground'' provides immunity to flinching and knockdown to any allies standing on it.
* JackOfAllTrades: As of his latest rework, he can maintain a periodic healing aura, deal damage that scales to enemy health, shatter enemy armor, bolster his and allies' armor and status resistance, mass-stun enemies or [[SetAMookToKillAMook turn enemies against each other]]...
** MasterOfNone: ... but he'll never quite match a more specialized Warframe in terms of potency. That being said, he still has a few tricks up his sleeve that no other Warframes can duplicate (without Augments, at least), such as [[StatusBuffDispel dispelling status conditions]] and slowing his allies' bleedout timer. The Radiation effect from his powers is also handy to effectively disable some Eximus and Ancient auras.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Quite literally- his design invokes a knight's armor while his default colors are [[ColorCodedElements white, yellow and light blue]] to invoke holy imagery.
* LightEmUp
** HolyHandGrenade: ''Smite'' and ''Reckoning'' play it straight. ''Smite'' may be more like a Holy Frag Grenade.
** ILoveNuclearPower: In reality, his abilities deal heavy Radiation damage (along with some physical damage), as there is no "light" or "holy" element.
*** GeniusBonus: Light, however, ''is'' a form of radiation; hence the word "radiate".
* MeaningfulName: After the king of fairies in ''Theatre/AMidsummerNightsDream''. It's fitting if you consider his semi-druidic design and his title as "the mystic", [[SubvertedTrope but non-indicative]] of his role as a healer and judgement-bringer.
** On the other hand, his [[TheFairFolk Feyarch]] deluxe skin pairs nicely.
* [[NinjaPirateZombieRobot Ninja Druid Fairy Paladin]] [[RecycledInSpace In Space]]
** One of the most egregious examples of this amongst Warframes. While Oberon's kit was originally developed for a [[ThePaladin Paladin]]-based Warframe, his concept art led many of the developers to declare him to be a {{Druid}} as well. While his abilities are mostly Paladin-focused, his [[TheBeastmaster animal-based]] passive enforces his Druidic abilities beyond a mere visual motif.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: A natural consequence of being a well-rounded Warframe alongside more specialized sorts. Historically, he's suffered badly as a healer in comparison to Trinity, but as of the Oberon rework, his Renewal ability is substantially easier and quicker to use.
* ThePaladin: His original and primary theme.
* SimpleYetAwesome: As of the Oberon rework, ''Smite'''s secondary projectiles are one of very few Warframe attacks in the game whose damage scales with enemy health. This means that spamming Smite can continue killing enemies even at extremely high levels. For an added bonus, enemies hit by Smite are knocked down and given radiation proc, effectively taking them out of the fight for a brief time.
* SwordPlant: Does a handle-down variant when casting ''Renewal''; it works well with heavy weapons (such as his "favorite" mace, the Magistar), but can be jarring with one-handed weapons.
* WhiteMage: Healing spells and smiting.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Octavia]]
[[quoteright:272:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/octavia.png]]
A Bard-inspired Warframe released in Update 20. While she and Banshee each use sound as a primary weapon, Octavia focuses on using music to enhance her allies and enchant her enemies. Her main blueprint is obtained from the "Octavia's Anthem" quest offered by Cephalon Suda.

* {{Foil}}: To [[TheFairFolk Titania]], fitting since the respective syndicates that provide their quests are on opposite sides.
** Titania's ''Spellbind'' grants status immunity to allies and deals crowd control to enemies while ''Mallet'' creates a target that deals more damage to enemies the more it's shot at.
** ''Tribute'' and ''Metronome'' both give buffs but are given in different ways; ''Tribute'' requires a certain enemy type to give one of it's 4 buffs, while ''Metronome'' requires doing certain actions to the beat of the music, all while giving an armor buff while active.
** ''Lantern'' and ''Resonator'' both charms enemies while dealing damage to them, but ''Lantern'' both requires an enemy to use it on and makes said enemy invincible while ''Resonator'' needs no prerequisites but can be strengthened by ''Mallet''.
** ''Razorwing'' and ''Amp'' have synergy with their other abilities. Titania being able to cast her other abilities while in Razorwing mode, and Octavia's ''Amp'' increasing the damage and range of ''Mallet'' if it's in ''Amp's'' area of effect.
* GrenadeSpam: Inverted. Octavia's ''Mallet'' effectively explodes an area with music instead of actual explosives. The sounds of attacks will resonate onto the Octavia's drum music while in range, essentially becoming a spam by the grenade itself if orchestrated properly.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: ''Mallet'' taunts enemies into attacking it, then absorbs any damage dealt to it to increase its own.
* InstrumentalWeapon[=/=]InstrumentOfMurder: Her abilities are deployed from her Mandachord, and are infused with the song that she is playing.
* MakeMeWannaShout: ''Amp'' increases allies' damage based on the sound-level in the radius (including noise from her abilities). ''Mallet'' beats enemies to death with percussive soundwaves.
* MagicMusic: Her abilities are derived from her Mandachord, itself based off of a step sequencer. She can play songs to coordinate allies, hypnotize enemies, or even deal damage.
* MeaningfulName: Her name, her alternate helmet, her abilities and her buffs all take their cues from musical terminology.
** IronicName: Octavia comes from ''octave'', referring to an 8-note musical scale, even though her Mandachord only has 5.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: Zig-zagged. Her abilities are fairly standard in-mission, but the ability to write compositions on her [[InstrumentOfMurder Mandachord]] has added a new mini-game for players between missions.
* MusicalAssassin: While bards are traditionally support classes, Octavia is considered one of the most effective damage-dealers in the game at the time of her release due to the scaling damage from her ''Mallet''s, and the enhancements they receive from her other abilities.
* TheMusicMeister: ''Resonator'' is a [[ThePiedPiperOfHamelin Pied Piper]]-inspired ability that forces enemies to follow the source of the music as it rolls past.
* OneManBand: Using her first three abilities makes her into one.
* NiceHat: Her base helmet resembles a band conductor's hat, complete with feathers.
* PinkMeansFeminine[=/=]TrueBlueFemininity: Her base color palette is white, blue and pink. WordOfGod is that the pink tones were originally shades of yellow and gold, but were changed for fear the palette would be too close to the other sound-elemental, Banshee.
* QuirkyBard: Her passive gives allies bonus energy each time she casts an ability, and she has two abilities that add separate buffs to allies within range. ''Amp'' gives allies a bonus to damage based on the volume level in the room (read: how many instruments she has active at once), but you can't get much quirkier than ''Metronome'''s bonuses for ''fighting to the beat of her song''.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: [[spoiler: She used her musical abilities to signal the start and coordinate Tenno efforts when they slaughtered the Orokin.]]
* WithCatlikeTread: Her Metronome ability gives multiple buffs depending on actions you perform in time with her music, one of these being invisibility, logically, the enemies should be able to hear your music, even when you're invisible, however it is no less effective.

[[folder:Rhino]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rhinonewlookedit_4497.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click to see Prime form.]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a293df99ab928d1ad095b7f1b00fe96f.png[[/labelnote]]]]
Rhino is one of the heaviest Warframe in appearance, mobility and stats. He is a textbook MightyGlacier who is an offensive juggernaut who can give just as much as he gets. His skills are focused on crowd control and he can buff the damage output of his teammates to help them clean up afterwards. Until Chroma, he was the only Warframe to be EXP-locked.

* TheBigGuy: Rhino's entire kit revolves around his sheer strength and resilience.
** Subverted with mods, as a carefully built Rhino becomes a living crutch for the team's survivability and damage potential.
* ExtraOreDinary: His Iron Skin coats his armor with [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment even more armor]][[note]]or [[BlingOfWar in gold when Primed]][[/note]], that will act as his secondary shield, increasing his durability further.
* [[GagPenis Gag Codpiece]]: Players and developers alike have chuckled at his armor's generous manhood. This can be especially distracting when another Warframe's idle animations are used, particularly the undulating pelvic thrusts from Limbo's Agile stance.
* GoombaStomp: This can happen to enemies because of his passive ability; all he has to do is fall from high enough, and he adds a ShockwaveStomp to the mix.
* ImplacableMan: Is the toughest of all the frames, and his ''Iron Skin'' skill allows him to NoSell [[ImmuneToFlinching knockdown or staggering]] attacks.
* InstantArmor: ''Iron Skin'' adds a layer of metallic armor over Rhino, which takes a lot of damage before breaking.
* LightningBruiser:
** A possible build, though it involves juggling with mod cards that don't really play to Rhino's strengths.
** Rhino Prime is effectively this from the get-go, with a higher base speed compared to Rhino. A Rhino Prime with the Vanguard helmet has an unmodded sprint speed of 1.25 - the same speed as ''[[FragileSpeedster Loki]]'' - coupled with his already very mobile ''Rhino Charge''.
** WeaksauceWeakness: The only exceptions are the slowing effect of ice damage as well as the projectile vomit of the Nauseous Crawler.
* PecFlex: His Noble idle animation. He even has pecs on his armor.
* RhinoRampage: He even makes rhinoceros sounds as he charges.
* ShockwaveStomp: His ultimate skill, ''Rhino Stomp'', which distorts time from the sheer force of the stomp.
** He also has a passive ability that enables him to do this; all he has to do is fall from a certain height, and he can potentially add a GoombaStomp to the mix.
* SimpleYetAwesome: Similar to Excalibur, his abilities revolve around augmenting answers to mundane situations which are crowd control, dealing damage and escape certain death. His kit is mundane enough that any weapon equipped to him are good enough on any mission he attends to, as abilities like Roar and Iron Skin help compensate said weapons' lack of damage and/or utility.
* StatusBuff: ''Roar'' plays it the straightest of any example in the game, directly increasing all forms of allied damage output.

Bathed in gold and solemn blue. I intend to reclaim it now, from the Spores and the Ruin. It came to me, like a proverb: Fight poison with poison. Cure this sick horde with the greatest of plagues. I will call her... Saryn.''
--> ~ '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO4ldsvVbjA Warframe: Saryn Prime]]'''

One of the heaviest female Warframes, Saryn is a close combat beast with good defensive stats, a poison buff for her melee weapons and an instant-cast decoy ability to lose enemy attention if things get too hairy. She is also deadly against armored targets with her ability to inject them with highly corrosive toxins that bypass all their defenses.

* AnimalMotifs: Snakes, from poisoning targets she strikes to shedding her skin.
* BodyHorror: Her armor appears to be stitched together from a combination of fungi and tumorous tissues not unlike those found amongst the Infested.
* CombatStilettos
* {{Combos}}: By the current updates, Saryn begins to invoke this with her abilities.
** ''Spores'' of a host explode when the host itself is hit with a melee attack amped by ''Toxic Lash''. This infects any of the host's nearby allies with both more ''Spores'' '''and''' a dose of ''Toxic Lash'' toxin.
** ''Miasma'''s damage is multiplied if a victim is also covered with Toxin and Viral status effects, which both her ''Spore'' and ''Molt''[=/=]''Toxic Lash'' skills are near guaranteed to create.
** ''Molt'' can be tagged with ''Spores'', spreading ''Spores'' to enemies who attack it. ''Molt'' will also explode when hit by ''Miasma''; not only does that explosion deal damage, but ''Miasma'' will be boosted as well based on the health ''Molt'' lost.
* DefeatEqualsExplosion: Her ''Spores'' and ''Molt'' play this trope straight. The former coats the target with [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin spores]] then explodes upon death of its host and spreads to everyone else around it, while ''Molt'' simply explodes upon death or at the end of its duration.
* DopplegangerAttack: Her ''Molt'' acts as her illusion skill, forcing enemies to focus on it instead of her. Though it doesn't attack directly, it leaves a toxic explosion upon expiration.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Notably, her right leg has heavier armor than her left, while the pod on her Chlora alternate helmet tips toward the right as well.
* FesteringFungus: ''Spores'' slowly eat away its host and halve their health as they grow instantly on the target. Popping one of the bulbs or more just causes it to spread any enemy nearby, and killing the host [[DefeatEqualsExplosion will just make the problem bigger]].
* FlowerMotif: Her Orphid Premium skin.
* HollywoodAcid: Her uber skill, ''Miasma''.
* LadyOfWar: Her design and noble stance certainly makes her fit the bill.
* MadeOfIron: Saryn is one of the only frames that can passively take serious hits due to her above average health, good armor and a very large energy pool.
* MightyGlacier: Saryn has below-average movement speed, but take on against powerful attacks done by her opponents and return a good amount of damage through Toxin, Viral and Corrosive attacks. Saryn Prime however has regular base movement speed, which makes her a LightningBruiser instead.
* NinjaLog: Her ''Molt'' leaves copies of her skin that resembles her last move before the skill is applied, giving a distinct illusion of being still there. Too bad for [[SchmuckBait stubborn enemies who are trying to kill]] [[MadeOfExplodium it]].
* NonIndicativeName: For a very long time, the names of her first and third powers seemed more appropriate the other way around: ''Venom'' caused Viral damage which can be spread from enemy to enemy, while ''Contagion'' poisoned enemies on a melee strike. Her rework during 17.10 eliminated the issue - Venom became ''Spore'', while Contagion became ''Toxic Lash''.
* PoisonousPerson: Her entire motif.
* PunnyName: A modified version of sarin, the chemical weapon.
* ShowgirlSkirt: The organic material[=/=]carapace below her waist on her Orphid skin, which (just barely) covers her butt and hips and does not cover the front.
* SpellBlade: ''Toxic Lash'' infuses her melee weapon with toxins and near guarantees a Toxic proc on enemies.
* StandardStatusEffects: Played with. While ''Spore'' acts like the standard Poison-type debuff, shooting one of the spores it produces causes the damage to splash to nearby enemies.
* StartXToStopX: "Fight poison with poison" and her video "From the Spores and Ruin" while against the Infestation.
* StatuesqueStunner: Saryn is considered to be one of the most attractive Warframes by the playerbase and is one of the tallest as well. Her new idle animation makes her tower over her peers as she stands confidently upright instead of crouching for battle.
* TechnicolorToxin: Her basic energy color is a vibrant purple. While Corrosive and Toxin damage typically presents itself as different shades of SicklyGreenGlow, the spores of her ''Spore'' glow with energy.
* UniversalPoison: Her skills affect near everything that moves, from flesh to machines, though Infested are naturally resistant to these effects.

[[folder:Titania]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/titanianewlook.png]]
Titania is a fairy-themed Warframe, released during the third of four lead-in updates to Update 19. A support-oriented combatant, her skillset can lock enemies down, manipulate their aggro, and uses their 'souls' to provide various [=debuffs=] that help increase survivability of herself and allies alike.

* AnimalMotifs: Moths and butterflies. Her body is covered in swarms of detachable butterflies, her base helmet has moth-like feathered antennae, her third ability is stated to be based on the concept of "moths to a flame", and she can summon a set of wings.
* GirlishPigtails: Her helmet prominently shows them more in a stretched out figure.
* GuardianEntity: [[spoiler: For the Silver Grove, and Silvana. The Warframe Specters serve as such in her stead.]]
* HollywoodThin: While Titania's body frame isn't nearly as thin as [[{{Mummy}} Inaros]], it's still slimmer than most female Warframes in general.
* HomingProjectile: Titania's butterflies mostly behave like this, usually tracking targeted enemies by her following abilities.
* HyperspaceArsenal: The Archwing summoned by ''Razorwing'' includes a unique bramble sword and a pair of thorn-shooting rifles. While her Archwing is formed from Titania's skirt, the weapons are nowhere to be found before she shrinks or after she reverts to her full size.
* ItIsPronouncedTroPay: The developers, the Lotus, and others pronounce it as Ty-TAY-nee-uh (like Titanium), rather than the more conventional Tih-TAWN-yuh.
* LongNeck: Her neck stalk stands out more than a Primed Nova.
* MeaningfulName: Titania, like Oberon, draws her name from fairy royalty of Theatre/AMidsummerNightsDream. Fittingly, [[spoiler:several fairy-themed Warframe Specters protect the Silver Grove in her absence, with the Feyarch Oberon Specter as her final protector.]]
** The weapons she summons during ''Razorwing'' are named "Dex [[TheFairFolk Pixia]]" and "Diwata" (a Philippine term for a fairy).
** Her "Aurai" alternate helmet is named after the air nymphs of Greek mythology.
* TheMinionMaster: The butterflies summoned by ''Razorwing'' can damage enemies and draw their own threat.
* NatureHero: [[spoiler: Her creator Archimedian Silvana was one among the Orokin. Titania protected her after Silvana's Somatic Link permanently [[GeniusLoci transferred her mind into a tree]].]]
* NoGravityForYou: ''Spellbind'' causes enemies to float in the air and drift helplessly. ''Lantern'' can do this as well, but only to one target at a time.
* OurFairiesAreDifferent: She is themed after fairies and pixies.
* PrettyButterflies: Has dozens of them growing from her appendages, can surrounded herself in them during her idle animations, and can release [[TheSwarm swarms of them]] to attack.
* PowerFloats: Aside from being able to fly with one of her powers, her unique idle animations cause her to float while her butterflies orbit her. Her passive increases her distance covered with LeParkour, and leaves behind pixie dust to spread the benefit to allies.
* RazorWings: Played straight with every butterfly that spawns from her, but subverted on her ultimate ability where she summons actual blades on her arms instead of using wings to deal damage.
* SetAMookToKillAMook: ''Lantern'' is an interesting variation: She turns one enemy into a beacon that all enemies are compelled to investigate and attack. While they can't damage that target, they'll be pelted by a swarm of razor butterflies orbiting the target, until that target explodes.
* ShowgirlSkirt: UpToEleven, though naturally the skirt is meant to actually [[ClothesMakeTheSuperman be her wings]].
* SizeShifter: ''Razorwing'' uses Archwing mechanics to shrink her down to pixie-size, increasing her Evasion.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: [[spoiler: Silvana hated the weapon of war her research was used to create -- that is, until Titania died protecting her and the Silver Grove.]]
* StationaryWings: Her ShowgirlSkirt ''Razorwing'' behaves similarly what Archwings normally do. Granted, ''Razorwing'' mechanics simply copy the basis of the Archwing system, which also includes [[ThrowItIn shrinking yourself down to size]].
* VariantPowerCopying: ''Tribute'' allows her to steal power-ups from enemies, based on the types of enemies struck.
** Prior to her release, the developers stated at one time that she could copy up to ''35'' different powers with this effect. By release, it [[{{Pun}} shrank]] down to four.
* WhyAmITicking: ''Lantern'' turns its target into a bomb.
* WingedHumanoid: ''Razorwing'' grants Titania a unique Archwing that she can use in standard missions.

[[folder:Trinity]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trinitynewlookedit_2613.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click to see Prime form.]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/trinityprimemain2.png[[/labelnote]]]]
Trinity is an archetypal healer with a vampiric twist. Her skillset is completely defensive and allows allies to drain both health and energy from targets or avoid damage by redirecting it back onto an enemy.

* HealingHands: Her uber skill, ''Blessing'', averts the trend set by her other abilities - it doesn't require you to drain life from a target, but instead fully heals (and reshields) the party, and grants [[ImmuneToBullets temporary damage reduction]] to all affected.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Properly used, ''Link'' can let you kill an enemy by making the damage they deal be transferred to them instead.
* LadyLegionnaireWear: Her infamous "[[FanNickname lobster skirt]]".
* LadyOfWar: One of the most heavily-armored female frames in terms of appearance (stat-wise, not so much).
** Her Meridian alternate helmet notably resembles a knight helmet, at least from the front.
* LifeDrain: ''Well of Life'' levitates the target helplessly into the air and causes allies to regenerate health when damaging the targeted enemy. However, the target's maximum health is also increased for the duration, so targets who resist its crowd control effects [[HoistByHisOwnPetard are actually buffed, taking significantly less damage]] until it ends.
* TheMedic
** CombatMedic: She might have no offensive powers, but she's as heavily armed as any Warframe.
** WhiteMagicianGirl: She also can give teammates damage mitigation buffs and restore their energy. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QzMaXVxpLQ "The Profit Trailer]] shows her as a staff chick, too.
* MegaTwintails: Her Prime variant has a massive pair protruding out of her helmet.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Unlike most Prime variants where their armor/helmet components are replaced, Trinity dons both her original armor and [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment more bits of Primed armor]] all over her suit.
* TheSymbiote: Her third skill, ''Link'', invokes this by allowing her to transfer damage taken to someone else, usually a nearby enemy.

-->"Our long deathless winter has left us numb. Our wasted animal within, ugly and gaunt, hibernates beneath our shimmering beauty. Why do these Warframes stir us so? They burn with our lost desires, lost instincts. Tenno tamed, but only just. Cast and hunted as game. Trapped and tortured, yet they remain... animals.

-->Less than their human seed, gnawing their limbs from the snare, devouring a banquet of suffering, obese with heat and acid... and rage.

-->That is why they will destroy us."

-->'''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ubZLPNE4Lk Warframe: Valkyr Prime]]'''

A berserker Warframe released in Update 11. Said to be an escapee from the Corpus's Zanuka Project.

* ArmorIsUseless: Subverted then played straight.
** Visual-wise, personally beats the general bulky male tank Warframes with more than twice the armor while [[WaifFu remaining in slender form]].
** The straight example goes with Hysteria; while it [[DelayedReaction renders her to accept the damage she took after its duration if there are still enemies around her when it deactivates]], during the ability just makes her [[NoSell completely oblivious to any form of damage]] while towering enemies tend to fall faster in less than seconds.
* TheBerserker: Of course.
** CastFromHitpoints: A variation: Her ''Paralysis'' skill sacrifices her shields, making her more vulnerable to attacks. Justified by being ''[[CaptainObvious a berserker]]''.
*** Enforced with her ''Hysteria'' skill, which makes her invulnerable to damage... until it ends, at which point part of the damage she would have taken hits her anyway unless she has cleared the room of enemies by then. While active, however, she can heal based on the damage she deals.
** NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Her Hysteria is likely to make this move on an enemy when you need to FinishHim, completely reducing even the toughest opponent to... [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill what's pretty much left of him]].
** PrimalStance: While sprinting under the effects of [[UnstoppableRage Hysteria]], she spreads her arms out in a [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant rather disturbing backdrop]]. This is also her default stance with her Agile animation set.
** RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Any mission against the Corpus can be seen as this, given her backstory.
** ScreamingWarrior: ''Paralysis'' lets off a quick howl.
*** The Gersemi Skin for Valkyr is actually her Pre-Corpus Skin. It's telling that this skin highly resembles Zanuka's.
* CatGirl: With the [[MeaningfulName Bastet]] alternate helmet, she becomes a variant of this.
** When wielding a whip, it uniquely twists itself into a tail shape on her back when it's not in use.
** As of 17.5, her passive ability prevents her from having a heavy landing, and increases her knockdown recovery -- the cat always lands on her feet.
** Her Gersemi skin, which portrays her original form before Alad V's experiments, makes it even more blatant.
* ChainedByFashion: Her exclusive [[ScarfOfAsskicking syandana]], "Valkyr's Bonds", uses the wire-like restraints she was bound with in captivity.
* CrutchCharacter: While not in a sense of being a straight-up main use, Valkyr's increased armor encourages players to make up different builds to compensate her lack of shielding, particularly the "QT-R" builds[[note]]Quick Thinking and Rage mods[[/note]], ensuring that further builds after Valkyr would become straight Health-Armor improvements instead of shields.
* DelayedReaction: Her Hysteria invokes this if she takes a surmountable amount of damage from enemies within range[[note]]Those enemies who emit aura of your own energy color[[/note]]. Taking about fifty thousand points or more[[note]]displayed in your hud[[/note]] and then turning Hysteria off will deliver a portion of those points [[ThisIsGonnaSuck straight to her as damage]].
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Hysteria turns Valkyr into a ball of vicious rage; [[HilariousInHindsight Jumping]] prompts her to roll into [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments a ball of vicious rage]].
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her base helmet is cracked open on the left side. Her exclusive "Valkyr's Bonds" syandana dangles one chain off her right arm and two off the left.
* GrapplingHookPistol: ''Rip Line'' generates an energy tether that can be used for this, or YouWillNotEvadeMe - notable in that it can pull ''allies'' to her as well as enemies.
* KryptoniteIsEverywhere: While using Hysteria is made to turn tides of a fight to Valkyr's favor, there are an increasing amount of DemonicSpiders whose auras can '''[[{{Dispel}} nullify]]''' pretty much every ability buff/debuff made by any Warframe.
** AchillesHeel: While Valkyr's ultimate ability renders her ''almost'' completely invulnerable to damage, stand right inside a nullifier globe and she's down. Especially the Corpus, who are coincidentally savvy at ArmorPiercing. However, she can also take down nullifier globes by staying just out of range and attacking them.
* LightningBruiser: Her kit revolves around dishing out her hatred to enemies at close range with great mobility, while [[ArmorIsUseless boasting a wad of armor that makes Rhino's Iron Skin look like paper]].
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Can deal some of the highest damage in the game with her ultimate, while besting larger and bulkier Warframes as far as taking nasty hits.
* NoSell: ''[[UnstoppableRage Hysteria]]'' renders Valkyr completely invulnerable to damage at the cost of using only melee attacks rather than whatever weapon she carries. It may sound [[UselessUsefulSkill useless]] at first, but the invulnerability she receives actually leads to...
* NotTheIntendedUse: Despite of the intended name, her ultimate ability allows her to traverse through sections of a fight without taking damage from enemies -- even those with an InstantDeathRadius -- giving Valkyr time to revive allies, hack consoles and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking jaywalk]] with abandon. Combined with its weapon penalty, many players have taken to using ''Hysteria'' as a shield when playing a supportive role, and then disabling it during actual combat engagements.
* ScreamingWarrior: She and Rhino are the only frames to make any vocalizations, and they're pretty loud ones.
* {{Valkyries}}: The inspiration for her name, though she has little to do with them directly save perhaps that berserkers occur alongside them in Myth/NorseMythology.
** Her Kara alternate helmet takes its name from a Valkyrie; the Nordic translation is "the wild, stormy one."
* WaifFu: While the only two other Warframes who received a seemingly light armor treatment are [[HavingABlast Nova]] and [[MagnetismManipulation Mag]], Valkyr can sponge a lot of damage and does an insane focus of melee compared to most frames of the same gender at [[LightningBruiser blistering speeds]].
* WolverineClaws: Summoned as part of her Ultimate, ''Hysteria''.

-->''Lust was my sin. But greed is the blight that weakens our steel. These industrialists, gorged on the harvest of our long war. Their mind-drones, their mechanizations toil in foundries remote. For what purpose? We must set watch upon them, baiting our snares with the worms of profit. Those who kneel at the altar of commerce will be returned to the Void.''
-->''For your consideration... Vauban.''
--> ~ '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm6DS3IDYqI Warframe: Vauban Prime]]'''

The Combat Engineer Warframe introduced in Update 8, Vauban has the unique twist of deploying his abilities through specialized grenades. This gives him a longer reach than most of his compatriots and allows him to fortify multiple sections of a map at once. He is currently considered the most effective of the utility-centric Warframes.

* ArmorIsUseless: His sheer padded bulk does absolutely nothing but house a large assortment of grenades that he uses in battle; standing short with as little armor and shields as possible.
* BadassLongcoat: Vauban Prime's armor looks more like a coat taken from Baro Ki'teer's closet.
* BadassNormal: All the other Warframes seem to have innate abilities, powers that could only be explained by "Void Energy", partial infestation, etc. Vauban, however, runs entirely on advanced tech grenades and a good suit.
* CompositeCharacter: Each of his abilities has been accused of being a grenade form of another Warframe's: ''Tesla'' is similar to Volt's ''Shock'', ''Bounce'' resembles Excalibur's now-retired ''Super Jump'', ''Concuss'' shares properties of Banshee's ''Sonic Boom'', ''Bastille'' halts enemies like Rhino's ''Rhino Stomp'' and ''Vortex'' sharing the attractive attributes of Mag's ''Pull''.
* TheEngineer: His name is a shout-out to a certain UsefulNotes/{{France}} military marshal and his kit revolves around with the Corpus' common abilities that manipulate players on the fly.
* GravityScrew: Early on, Vauban's ''Vortex'' had this effect on players, causing them to jump higher and have more airtime if they jumped into it, but also causing them to drift helplessly and uncontrollably if they moved through it any other way. Part of this controversial side-effect was officially patched out in 9.8, though it's still possible for players to be catapulted into the sky by doing a jump kick near a vortex.
* GrenadeSpam: This is his entire modus operandi, and for good reason - all of his powers are grenades with different effects. A common (and valid) strategy in Defenses is for a Vauban to cover the map's walkways with ''Tesla'' grenades, given that they're relatively cheap and periodically deal stunning damage; a single grenade can do upwards of 1500 damage at max rank, albeit through multiple electrical charges.
** Alternately, one could coat the cryopod in ''Bounce'' grenades to repel melee-oriented foes.
* LaserHallway: The Augment for Vauban's ''Tesla'' can be used to create these.
* LuckBasedMission: Obtaining him, for players who are unwilling or unable to shell out the Platinum. Unlike any other Warframe, his parts are only available through random alerts. Said alerts are rare, typically only last for an hour or so, and can be at any time of day. To make matters worse, there are separate alerts for each of his three parts, so there's a good chance of catching an alert for the wrong part. It usually takes players months to build him.
** The fact that there can be periods of weeks without seeing the same part repeat has led many players to the question, "[[MemeticMutation How is Booben formed?]]"
* MeaningfulName: Named after the prominent French military engineer.
* MechanicallyUnusualClass: Unlike the other Warframes, Vauban's powers all take the form of grenades that he tosses. These grenades cannot penetrate the Snow Globes generated by Frost or Arctic Eximus units.
* NiceHat: His Gambit helmet has a turbine on top of it that rather resembles a beret.
* SpringJump: One application of ''Bounce''. Alternately, it can be used to rocket foes into the stratosphere, stunning them temporarily.
* SquishyWizard: Has the second-lowest armor and ties with Loki and Nova for the second-lowest shield capacity of all Warframes (after Valkyr).
* StickyBomb: ''Bounce'' will stick to whatever surface it's attached to, regardless of which direction the pad faces. ''Tesla'' does much the same, as well as attaching to enemies and allies alike to deal additional damage over time.
* TrapMaster: His grenades are best used as traps used to hold down a territory.
* TrickBomb: ''All of them.''
* [[WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer When All You Have Is Grenades]]: And he uses them to great effect.

[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click to see Prime form.]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ec7a595ecfd10ddc07d9f0685a9c33cb.png[[/labelnote]]]]
A nimble ability-oriented Warframe with the power to generate and control powerful electric currents. He is exceptionally devastating against the Corpus and their robotic proxies but while he tends to feel a bit lackluster against the other factions (which have some resistance to electric damage) his skills nevertheless offer a balanced range of utility. Volt was originally a starting Warframe before being replaced by Mag in Update 7, but returned to the roster in Update 14 replacing Loki.

* BarrierWarrior: His ''Electric Shield'' blocks incoming fire and supercharges allied projectiles and bullets fired through it. This not only adds bonus Electrical and critical damage to attacks, but increases their range, velocity, and penetrating power as well; even throwing-knives will HitScan.
* ChainLightning: His first ability, ''Shock'', fires a bolt of lightning that arcs between enemies. Each of those targets then receives the [[StandardStatusEffects Electrified proc]], causing ''them'' to chain damage to their allies as well, making it a cheap and effective way to stun whole crowds. ''Discharge'' electrifies the ground, causing electricity to arc between enemies.
* DeflectorShield: His third ability is ''Electric Shield'', a barrier that blocks enemy fire, though not enemies themselves.
* ElementalBarrier: His ''Electric Shield'' can block enemy fire, and has the added bonus of electrifying his bullets when he fires through it.
** GoodBadBugs: Ironically (as Volt is most effective against Corpus robots), this shield dramatically increases the damage of the Corpus-inspired Dera plasma rifle and turns it into a HitScan weapon.
* LightningBruiser: Incredibly effective against machines at high speeds, and definitely played literally.
* LightningCanDoAnything: Including granting super speed and making barriers out of thin air.
* MagicKnight: While ostensibly a caster with his ''Shock'' attack, his ''Speed'' ability greatly enhances mobility and melee damage while his ''Electric Shield'' can be picked up to create a mobile ramming shield to supplement his [[SquishyWizard low defenses]]. Amongst the starter Warframes in particular, his abilities offer the most compromise between the melee-heavy Excalibur and the more support- and CC-focused Mag.
* ManInAKilt: In an interesting variation, his kilt is open in the front, reaching up into his chestguard at about waist-height.
* PowerFloats: When he uses his ultimate, he jumps in the air and defies gravity for a split second before unleashing a wave of electricty. He used to float for the entire duration of the ability until it was patched for practicality.
* ShockAndAwe: All his powers are electrically-based, but special mention has to go to ''Discharge'', which really fits the bill. In earlier versions, it was so powerful it could clear the entire map with a single usage with excessive stacking of power range and power damage mods.
* SuperSpeed: One of his abilities gives a short burst of speed to himself and any teammates around him, making them run incredibly fast and swing their melee weapons quicker.
* TronLines: While most Warframes have this, Volt's are quite prominently displayed whenever he casts ''Discharge''.

A Warframe inspired by Sun Wukong of ''Literature/JourneyToTheWest'' fame. Fights with trickster powers much like his namesake. Got an early release in the Chinese version before making his way over to the main build in 17.12.

* BiggerStick: Weaponized and taken literally. When Wukong's ''Primal Fury'' gets a successful hit with his Bo, it gets bigger and longer.
* {{Combo}}s: To start in his background, all of his melee attacks encourage long, powerful combos, by having a longer combo timer.
** ''Primal Fury'' fully incorporates the trope with every successful hit, dealing more damage while covering a large area.
* DreadlockWarrior: Two long ones made of... whatever Asa Syandanas are made of.
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: As a monkey king-based Warfare.
* HerdHittingAttack: If ''Iron Jab'' hits an enemy, it releases a shockwave that hits a bunch more enemies too.
* LightningBruiser: Much like Excalibur and Valkyr before him, Wukong is designated to deal damage as taking as much as he can.
* MonkeyKingLite: He's designed with monkey motifs, can summon a TelescopingStaff, and even has the ability to turn into a cloud.
** ''Cloud Walker'' also makes Wukong invulnerable while active, with the caveat that it also prevents him from attacking. However, it is excellent for safely toggling off ''Defy'' and reaching a new position from which to toggle it back on again.
* OffScreenTeleportation: ''Cloud Walker'' sees Wukong leap ''outside the frame of the camera'', covered by a SmokeOut to keep his enemies from questioning how that works.
* SimpleStaff: Wukong's AceCustom Bo. It gets bigger and deadlier the longer you keep ''Primal Fury'' turned on.

[[folder:Zephyr]]
[[quoteright:350:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/zephyrnewlookedit_8730.jpg]]
An avian-themed Warframe with wind powers set released in Update 12. She is noted for her high mobility, as well as her air-support potential.

* AirAidedAcrobatics: She's naturally lighter than other Warframes, allowing her to jump higher and giving her more airtime. In addition, ''Tail Wind'' allows her to propel herself into and through the air- the most potent travel skill of its cost.
* AnimalMotifs: Birds, specifically hawks, according to the Design Council poll that originally spawned her. Her design invokes a beak, feathers, and even a swallow-like tail, while her first two powers involve getting into the air and slamming down on enemies.
* AppliedPhlebotinum: The use of Oxium in her recipe accounts for her lighter weight and reduced falling speed compared to other Warframes.
* AscendedFanon: Like Nova, Nekros and Valkyr, Zephyr owes her theme to a Design Council poll full of options submitted by players. The frame's name, design and even several abilities are also frequently attributed to a popular fan art thread which at least one developer stated was "[[https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/121272-warframe-concept-zephyr-the-wind-elemental-artwork-included-what-about-that-leaked-hawk-frame/?p=1845596 very inspiring]]".
* BlowYouAway
* ColorCodedElements: Primarily white, blue, and irremovable grays.
* CoolShades: Her Cierzo alternate helmet gives her a visor - appropriate for the aviator Warframe.
* DeathFromAbove: ''Dive Bomb'' can only be used while airborne, although its benefits aren't so much "death" as "radial knockdown". See GroundPound.
* DoNotTouchTheFunnelCloud: ''Tornado'' allows her to trap enemies inside whirlwinds, which can be loaded up with elemental damage.
* EasterEgg: when modifying are warframe's appearance, there is a row of buttons in the top left labeled ''A'', ''B'', and ''C'', that let you save your outfits and swap between them, but Zephyr also has a fourth ''Z'' button that [[spoiler:let's you play as her in a game of FlappyBird]]. because why not?
* GroundPound: ''Dive Bomb'' does ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin, releasing a shockwave that deals damage based on the drop distance.
* LightningBruiser: Fast, plenty of shields and plenty of health, add in abilities that focus on dashing around hammering enemies and an ultimate that ''abuses'' ElementalRockPaperScissors like no other and the result is a very fast and very tough frame with plenty of firepower.
* MeaningfulName: A zephyr refers to a light wind from the west (named after a Greek deity), while a cierzo is a Spanish term for a dry, cold wind from the north.
** GenderBlenderName: Zephyrus, like all of the Greek Anemoi, was male.
** {{Tengu}}: Her second alternate helmet is not only named after such, but also invokes the long nose-like beak associated with them.
* TornadoMove: ''Turbulence'' allows her to create a tornado barrier to deflect projectiles, while ''Tornado'' lets her summon vortexes to entrap enemies.
* WindFromBeneathMyWings
** NotQuiteFlight: She has natural resistance to gravity while ''Tail Wind'' allows her to jump off the ground and propel herself in the air, but she cannot fly freely.
