* PoorCommunicationKills: He seems to have some plan in place when he leaves behind Sterne and Helena, which the latter seems to be in on, but he refuses to explain himself to either of his sons. [[spoiler:Even when both Mont and Sterne confront him over Helena's reported death and Sadali's insinuation that Oelde knowingly sent her to her death, he refuses to explain himself.]]

* BigDamnHeroes: Just as Ramada and Lilyth are almost killed by Muraga Vallaide runs in with the rest of Fortem. [[Subverted when Muraga kills them all anyway.]]

The prince of Hourne and Macherie's older brother. Although blessed as a natural spellblade, he hates fighting even more than his father does and has no desire to succeed the throne. Before Macherie is sent off the be wed, Dario accepts the king of Fennes' daughter, Vinera, as his princess.

* GoldColoredSuperiority: Fennes' army is taken into wearing gold-colored gear, with tones of PurpleIsPowerful to accompany it.

* TheSpartanWay: Fennes' usual method of making soldiers doesn't create weaklings, they mostly [[RecruitedFromTheGutter scoop these people from the slums]] and turn them into {{Tyke Bomb}}s.

* TheStrategist: Muraga put her as Fennes' main strategist for a reason: Oldoa is ''really'' smarter than she looks. [[CooperationGambit She played nice with Mont]] so he would wait for an ambush from Muraga, while Kilphe's troops came from behind to attack Caelum in the fortress. This also ends up distracting Caelum [[CombinationAttack as Muraga's own troops close in from the other side]].

* CreepyMonotone: Fennes' own flavor of this. Not even once does she raise her voice.

* BringIt: Oelde's answer to [[spoiler:Khury being willing to sell Leonis' heads to Muraga]]? [[spoiler:Let Mont go rescue Machérie in Leonis Castle (in one of the ''very few times'' he actually doesn't belittle Mont for his idea), knowing Khury would not take that well, and gladly challenge Wezette's soldiers when Khury tries to stop Mont's team from leaving his castle.]]

An Arithmetician of Leonis, she dreamed of following in her late mother's footsteps and becoming a tactician. However, Queen Helena worried for her safety and appointed her manager of Leonis' finances instead. She believes that mathematics can change the course of battle.

* SummonMagic: Is in possession of Leonis' sacred relic, which lets him summon Visions. He is later given Hourne's sacred relic by Macherie.

* LadyOfWar: Leonis' own, experienced one. She's also all too willing to jump into battle when the time calls for it.

A Knight from Leonis' second division, Caelum, who is normally a laid-back gourmand. However, when his companions are in danger, he transforms completely into a valiant warrior. Mont's childhood friend, Mont asked him to join during the establishment of Caelum.

An archer from Leonis' second division, Caelum, who surprised those around her at a young age when she hit bull's-eyes with arrows she fired while messing around. She joined Caelum after Lilyth told her she could become a world-class archer with the experience she'd gain in the army.

An optimistic Green Mage from Leonis' first division, Fortem, who can laugh off any kind of danger and doesn't hesitate to sacrifice himself for the sake of his allies. He has feelings for Ramada but agonizes over her enlistment in Caelum, which prevents them from having any kind of interaction.

A Spellblade who, despite having no battle experience, managed to join Leonis' first division, Fortem, after her bright and enthusiastic nature caught Sterne's eye. She is very proud of the name given to her by her mother and becomes upset when mistakenly referred to by a different name.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He may be just following orders from Khury, but he's fully aware (and not liking a single bit of it) of what is happening in Wezette, warning Mont that even if he manages to calm Khury down in his plan to [[spoiler:sell Leonis' heads to Muraga for the safety of his kingdom]], the king won't take that quietly.
