The all-time fan-favorite and main contender for the Tournament, composed by the best athletes and soldiers of their generation. During Malcolm's nine-time reign, former Iron Guard members Brock and Lauren joined forces with the team, however after Gorge defeated Malcolm and broke his spine, the original team returned for the ''2004'' Tournament.

As [=FenTech=]'s finest creation, Malcolm is an artificially boosted Tournament warrior. He was the winner of nine Liandri Grand Tournaments from 2293 to 2301. In the tournament of the year 2302 (''Unreal Tournament 2003''), he joined forces with his former enemies Brock and Lauren, of the Iron Guard team. The team managed to go to the finals, where they meet the Juggernaut team, led by Gorge. Gorge's team won the Tournament, with Gorge breaking both Malcolm's winning spree [[GameBreakingInjury and his spine]].

* AscendedExtra: Though there were some hints in VideoGame/UnrealTournament, such as Thunder Crash being the default team, and him being the default face, for the ladder, there he was just a selectable skin. Then came ''Unreal Tournament 2003'' and it was revealed that he was the 9 time champion of the Tournament. He went on to be [[SeriesMascot the franchise's main face]].
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: As shown above, he wouldn't have been contracted by Izanagi or Liandri if he wasn't famous as being the biggest Tournament champion of the story.

* CutscenePowerToTheMax: In ''2004'', the Assault Rifle is the weakest weapon of the entire roster. Malcolm dispatches some goons easily with a pair of them.

* DefeatMeansPlayable: In ''2003'' and ''2004'' you must defeat him at the end of the ladder. In ''2004'', Thunder Crash must be the best ranked team of all Godlike teams in order to get to fight him.

* LegendaryInTheSequel: In ''Tournament'' he was just another combatant with a generic backstory. In ''2003'', he became the nine-time champion and a highly condecorated Tournament warrior.
* LivingLegend: Malcolm is acknowledged as such in all the games he participated after ''Tournament'': in 2003 he's credited as the man who dethroned Xan Kriegor; in ''2004'' his team is placed in the Godlike tier of potential final bosses, in ''Championship 2'' he became a color commentator as well as a business man for Liandri, and in ''III'' Reaper meets him listing his achievements:

* SixthRanger: Defeating them and ''not'' accepting their surrender in Act II of ''III'' gives you a card which calls two Iron Guard members.

** Of a sort in ''Tournament''. They're the team the player's team face in the Tutorial levels. They're still fought as regular rival teams in later team rungs, though.
** In ''III'', they're the first enemy team Ronin faces off against. You defeat them near the end and are given two choices: accepting their surrender (unlocks Lauren and grants the Enhanced Respawners card after a match) or don't (which instead gives you the [[SixthRanger "Iron Guard Reinforcements"]] card).

He was hired, alongside the original Iron Guard team, by the illegal weapons seller Jihan Nyhn, as their bodyguards. Nyhn had plenty of arenas which the team used for their personal training. After Nyhn's death, the team found a way to vent their bloodlust in the Tournament.

Brock and Lauren joined forces with then-champion Malcolm for the 2302 tournament (''Unreal Tournament 2003'') but lost the final match against Gorge and his band of Juggernauts. Infighting and recrimination made the team to split-up, with Brock and Lauren returning to lead a reformed Iron Guard. It is unknown if the team succeeded in that Tournament.

In the off-season, (''VideoGame/UnrealTournamentIII''[[note]]although this was never referred to as in any section of this game, but it was mentioned in ''VideoGame/UnrealChampionship2TheLiandriConflict''[[/note]]) he tried to ambush Gorge because of Malcolm's dethroning. Gorge easily killed him, and Lauren committed suicide shortly after. Both were brought back by both Liandri and Phayder corporations via the expensive Necrification process. Brock lost all of his memories, thus making him a remorseless killing machine.

* BreakoutCharacter: Same deal as Malcolm: playable character with barebones story in ''Tournament'', final sub-boss in ''2003'', leader of his own team in ''2004''.

* YourMindMakesItReal: His "Ethereal" adrenaline combo in ''Unreal Championship 2'' makes him to be seen slightly out of position.

Liandri's own backed team, led by the Tournament champion Xan Kriegor. After Xan's defeat at the hands of Malcolm, the team went AWOL but returned in ''2004'' as one of the Godlike-tier teams. They also return in ''III'' as Liandri's own force, defending the Hyperion territory.

* DownloadableContent: Nova (formerly an Xbox 360 exclusive character) becomes playable in the Playstation 3 and PC versions of ''III'' by way of the Titan Pack.
* ExpyCoexistence: ''2003'' features a team of robots, the whole class being called "Automaton", a clear stand-in for the Liandri robots. In ''2004'' both that team (now christened "Blood Fist" and belonging to the Tough tier) and The Corrupt share the spotlight.

* KillerRobot: Xan's personal bodyguards.
* MechaMooks: Xan's personal bodyguards. They also double as Liandri's force during downtime.

A former rebelling KillerRobot, Xan was created in the LBX-7683 asteroid, and was put in stasis lock after leading the [[ZerothLawRebellion robot uprising]] in said asteroid. Xan was also a 9-time Tournament champion. The first 7 tournaments weren't officially counted, as the event was still underground at the time. However, he won an eighth time in the first official Tournament in 2291. (''Unreal Tournament'') Malcolm dethroned him in the 2293 tournament.

He was rebuilt twice, first as Xan MKII (for one of the bonus packs and the console versions of the first ''Tournament'') and then as MKIII. He was seen leading his own team, "The Corrupt", in this suit in ''Unreal Tournament 2004''. The status of him and his team after that Tournament are unknown.

** Beating the ''2004'' by defeating him unlocks him as a playable character. In order to fight him and his team, The Corrupt must be the best ranked of all Godlike teams in the ladder.
* FinalBoss: Of ''Tournament'' and ''2004'', the latter only if The Corrupt is the best ranked Godlike team after finishing the gametype ladders.

** In ''2004'' Hyperblast makes a return, but in order to fight Xan on it, The Corrupt must be the best ranked of the Godlike-tier teams.

The different Deathmatch ladder matches from ''Tournament'' feature a bunch of bots, each with their own backstory. Here are some tropes related to them.

* AscendedExtra: In ''Tournament'' Barktooth was an opponent in the Deathmatch ladder. In the ECE edition of ''2004'' and ''III'' he becomes playable.

** Barktooth prefers ripping with his hands, preferring the close range Flak Cannon should he use a weapon.

* BadassNormal: For a certain amount of "Normal", Nikki and Bart are a regular civilian and an economist who paid lots of money in order to enter the Tournament. Nikki, however, manages to win some fights after your initial confrontation with her.

** Andrew is fighting in the Tournament as punishment for computer related crime.

* KickTheDog: Tajheri is a slave who managed to escape her slavers and made her way to NEG space. NEG picked her up and rewarded her by shoving her in an arena.
