* DumbMuscle: Strength of 9, Intelligence of 3. He's not going to win any accolades for dissertations anytime soon.

Added DiffLines:

* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: He's treated like a loser and has very few successes to his name. His sole moment of glory involved shooting Prowl in the 1986 movie, and even then that's been shown to be a fluke--he later gets run over by a twelve-year-old Daniel Witwicky, of all people.

* DumbMuscle: Devastator sets the ground-rule in G1 that once Combiners become one, their conflicting personalities WILL make the resulting giant as dumb as a box of rocks, no matter how smart each individual component may be. Devastator, case in point, is made up of six genius level engineers, only to be a roaring, screaming monster whose mind is severely hampered by the competing thoughts of his components. If they actually agree on a certain plan, however, Devastator gets far more dangerous.

* DumbMuscle: Devastator sets the ground-rule in G1 that once Combiners become one, despite their conflicting immense power, the strain and difficulties in syncing the minds and personalities WILL make the resulting giant as dumb as a box of rocks, no matter how smart each individual their component may be. transformers always results in Combiners having some sort of mental deficiency. Devastator, case in point, is made up of six genius level engineers, only all of whom have to be a roaring, screaming monster whose mind is severely hampered by the competing thoughts of his components. If they actually unanimously agree on a certain plan, however, what action to take in order for Devastator gets far more dangerous.to function, leaving him a plodding brutish monster who's left easily distracted and confused if bombarded with too many conflicting stimuli at once.

* NotSoStoic: Though he gives off the impression of an emotionless robot in the cartoon, he does have moments of emotion (see ScreamsLikeALittleGirl and EvilLaugh). Also in "Child's Play", he tried to play baseball with Skywarp, while in "Microbots" he gets as drunk off his ass from Energon with the other Decepticons.

* MechanicalAnimals: Sometimes, Laserbeak and Buzzsaw are not simply Transformers with bestial robot modes, but upgraded Cybertronian wildlife called Cryo-condors.
* PaletteSwap: Buzzsaw and Lazerbeak as well as Rumble and Frenzy (whichever one is which).

Became rather hilarious when later toys that had stuff packaged with them such as the Headmasters did get advertised. Somewhat averted in the comics, where he got roughly equal time with Laserbeak up until Buzzsaw was among Omega Supreme's victims, but even Laserbeak fell out of focus after that, despite escaping that battle intact.

* SissyVillain: To varying degrees, depending on the medium. Starscream is often shown to be a preening egotist, but with an undercurrent of petty spite and vengefulness that falls somewhere between 'foppish' and 'bitchy.' Pair that with his arrogance, flamboyant attitude, raspy-screech voice, tendency to whine and/or complain, and arguably the best looks among the original 1984 Decepticons, and you have some definitely headway into this trope.

* HumansAreSpecial: He even says the quote for the trope page. In Issue #4 of The Transformers, it's revealed Thundercracker survived being shot down by Skywarp and spent the subsequent three years wandering Earth. Initially, he was disgusted by the abundance of organic life on the planet. However, as time passed, Thundercracker experienced a deep change. After making a distress beacon and observing human culture through TV broadcasts, Thundercracker became fascinated by human society and its methods of preserving itself. Reflecting on the resilience and adaptability of the human race in the aftermath of Megatron's failed conquest, Thundercracker found himself marveling at their ability to rebuild and endure. Where once he had laughed at humanity's penchant for change and evolution, Thundercracker now viewed the Earth and its inhabitants with a newfound sense of appreciation and admiration. He came to recognize the beauty inherent in the active nature of their existence, a stark contrast to the stagnation that characterized Cybertronian society.

* PaperThinDisguise: ...yeah, guys, great disguise, no-one will bat an eye at construction vehicles painted bright green and purple. This even gets lampshaded in the original IDW continuity where this is how Spike Witwicky found Scrapper to kill him. At least a European rerelease had them painted a more realistic yellow.

* AdaptationDyeJob: The biggest flip-flop is whether he has a purple (original toy) or silver (G1 cartoon) face.

* DemotedToExtra: In many continuities where he isn't as important as the main cast, he falls into this. This is pretty noticeable in the IDW comics, where he's introduced in the very first arc, and he has numerous appearances, fights and dialogue in the series, but like Astrotrain, he never really takes center stage, compared to his teammates (The Seekers) and Megatron. The Battlechargers were also introduced in the arc, .
