* AFatherToHisMen: Starts to slip towards this in Armada, particularly after his men start taking issues with his needless hostilities and prove themselves 'very' capable of fighting back if pushed too far.

Added DiffLines:

* CardCarryingVillain: Tends to display snarky awareness to being an inflicter of evil, especially in the dub.

Added DiffLines:

* DefiantToTheEnd: In all three series, he ultimately chooses death over submitting or accepting control to Unicron or another power. He may be a brutal, dastardly tyrant, but at least he's damn well consistent about it.

Added DiffLines:

* OnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Optimus Prime is his to destroy. Sixshot in particular suffered very brutal dismissal for trying to dispose of Optimus himself throughout ''Energon'', a disposition that [[DefiantToTheEnd did not remotely waver]] when [[TheStarscream Sixshot half slagged Galvatron to do so]].
-->'''Sixshot:''' ''*charges and aims laser at Galvatron*'' Optimus Prime will be ''mine''!
-->'''Galvatron:''' ''NEVER!!!''
* PragmaticVillainy: Despite being a BadBoss, he is smart enough to keep most of his Decepticons motivated and capable, only truly disposing of those that betray him. Many of his minions even get upgrades at his choosing. He best exemplifies this through a HannibalLecture to Optimus in ''Cybertron'', having kept his minions loyal to him until he finally achieved his goals and didn't need them anymore.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationNameChange: In the original Japanese edit of ''Energon'', his character was in fact Nightscream, a separate Transformer who only had coincidental resemblance to Starscream. Only the dub establishes him as a true reincarnation to the character.

* {{Badass}}
** CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Despite his status as rookie, he is still very capable of kicking butt. He even gets to wield the Star Saber for a while in ''Armada''.

* {{Badass}}: If [[spoiler:being lethally wounded by the Requiem Blaster and still having the strength to try and take Megatron down]] doesn't count, what does?

* {{Badass}}: Hell yeah.

* {{Badass}}: From the middle of ''Armada'', and all the way through ''Cybertron''.

* {{Badass}}: Not as much as his other adaptations (initially), but when push comes to shove he's very prepared to hand you your ass on a platter.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: When his ''Cybertron'' incarnation [[spoiler:eventually decides to betray Megatron]], he waits until the moment is right and comes '''very''' close to succeeding. Later, when Prime is able to stop him after he's taken on eleven Autobots, he aims for the children and forces Prime into a SadisticChoice.

* GenreSavvy: "Morale? [[LampshadeHanging We've never had morale around here]]!"

* BiggerBad: [[spoiler:To Megatron. While Megatron may be the BigBad of the show, Unicron far eclipses him in terms of threat, while being detached from the main show]].

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: See [[spoiler:DeathIsCheap]]'s fourth example.

* OnlySaneMan: He's pretty much the only sane decepticon.

* DumbIsGood: He's the closest thing to a "nice" Decepticon that you're going to find.

* DumbIsGood: He's the closest thing to a "nice" Decepticon that you're going to find.find, aside from Starscream. Though interestingly, those two don't get along at all.

* OnlySaneMan: Compared to the rest of the Decepticons, he definitely feels this way.

Added DiffLines:

* TheRival: To Starscream, for the position of Megatron's right-hand man.
