[[folder: Vincent Aza]]
The Santalune City Gym Leader and freelance photographer, specializing in Bug-type Pokémon and taking pictures of them whenever he could. He also became a Gym Leader as means to get closer to Jagged Stone.
-----
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: In the main show, he stalks Jagged Stone for photos, to the point he even stalks the rock star's mother. In this story, he hasn't done anything that would violate the Elite Four's personal space (so far), and has properly passed the Gym Leader's qualification exams.

He wants to learn more about Kalos's history, including tracing the origins of Mega Evolution back to his ancestor. [[spoiler: He cements himself as a difficult challenge for many Trainers due to being able to Mega Evolve his Lucario]].
-----
* BadassBookworm: Jalil is a historian and the current Gym Leader of the Shalour Gym.
* BareFistedMonk: The Shalour Gym, though known for having Trainers capable of performing Mega Evolution, is known to specialize in Fighting-types.
* DespairEventHorizon: According to Alix, most challengers that face Jalil's [[spoiler: Mega Lucario]] and lose are so devastated that they give up on their dreams on the spot.
* OutGambitted:[[spoiler: He had his Mega Lucario use Bone Rush to shroud the arena in sand dust and was planning on using his Aura manipulation ability to find Tikki within the dust covered battlefield. [[DidNotSeeThatComing What he didn't count on was Tikki using Silver Wind to blow the cover away; leaving his Mega Lucario exposed and vulnerable to her counterattack]]]].
* SuperMode:[[spoiler: Can Mega Evolve his [[WeaponOfChoice Lucario]]]].
* TransformationTrinket: Jalil's Key Stone is in his pendant while [[spoiler: his Lucario's]] Mega Stone is worn in an arm band.

-----
* GreenThumb: Specializes in Grass-type Pokémon.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler: In the final round against Marinette, his Gogoat had Tikki bound by Grass Knot and was about to use Leech Seed. [[spoiler: He inadvertently gives Marinette heart trouble, causing her to briefly be attracted to him due to his handsome looks and kind personality]].
-----
* BigBrotherInstinct: Cares very much for Juleka and wants her to open up to others more. In Chapter 59, he helps her calm down when she's having a panic attack during the Showcase intermission due to dealing with performing on an outdoor theater.
* ChickMagnet: Described to be charming and handsome, it also helps that he's involved in the Laverre fashion shows to attract a lot of female attention. [[spoiler: A digital image of him was enough to briefly cause Marinette heart trouble]].
* ClosestThingWeGot: [[spoiler: Although he was picked by President Bourgeois as the new Laverre City Gym Leader because of his skills with Fairy-Types, it also because the President Bourgeois was in dire need for an immediate replacement when Clara was about to leave for her travels and Luka was at the right place at the right time when that happened]].

However, [[spoiler: Luka]] does focus on the [[TheFairFolk more realistic and darker aspects of Fairy-types]], constantly referring to their "hidden fangs" [[spoiler: during Marinette's Gym battle against him in Chapter 46]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Marianne Lenoir]]
An elderly woman born with psychic powers, the most prominent being the ability to look into the future, Marianne has held the title of Gym Leader of Anistar City for a seeming long time. She has aided the Kalos region in the past with her clairvoyance, protecting the people from imminent disasters when the stars allow her to foresee them. [[spoiler: She also has a special relationship with Fu, guiding Marinette to find him in Terminus Cave after she defeats her in a Gym battle in Chapter 56]].
-----
* AdaptationalBadass: She's a powerful Psychic-user in this story.
* AnimalMotifs: Her cloak has Celebi body outlines.
* AntiMagic: Xatu's Magic Bounce, which caught Marinette off guard when she had Leavanny attempt to restrain her with String Shot, only to discover the move reflected back on Leavanny. [[spoiler: Marinette later uses this to her advantage to get Marianne to lower her guard, by having Leavanny use String Shot again and getting Togekiss to take the hit to be slowed down. This is to make her the fastest Pokémon while Trick Room is active]].
* BadassTeacher: Marianne has Simon as her leading apprentice and several Psychics studying under her tutelage in the Anistar Gym to hone their abilities and deepen their bonds with their Pokémon. As Marinette experienced in her Gym battle, Marianne is a force to be reckoned with in both her psychic abilities and experience as a Gym Leader.
* BlowYouAway: Owns a Xatu, a dual Psychic/Flying-type.
* CombatClairvoyance: Both her Xatu and Starmie use Future Sight, combining their powers to set up a devastating and incoming attack that is assure to strike.
* CoolOldLady: She is kind and grandmotherly to Marinette and her friends. Even her students greatly admire her.
* CrazyPrepared: Xatu's and Starmie's movesets and Abilities complement each other well for nearly every situation, [[spoiler: particularly Xatu's Trick Room and Starmie's Analytical]].
* DiscardAndDraw: [[spoiler: A combination of Xatu's Trick Room and Starmie's Analytical ability decreases Starmie's speed in exchange for a tremendous power boost to its Attack stats]].
* DualBoss: Marianne uses her Xatu and Starmie against Marinette, who in turn chose Leavanny and Togekiss.
%% * {{Expy}}: Of Olympia, being a wise older woman with clairvoyant powers and teaching younger Psychics how to enhance their powers and bonds with their Pokémon.
* TheFatalist: Played with. Part of her theme during her battle against Marinette is how everything has a set path to their inevitable outcomes, ironically referencing in "Backwarder" her goal to change the past due to a misunderstanding between her and Fu. She even questions Marinette what her belief in fate is, asking if her victory was a result of her determination or that it was inevitable.
* MakingASplash: Her Starmie, which is part-Water-type.
* MythologyGag: [[spoiler: The phases of Marianne's Gym battle have Valerie's and Olympia's battles from the anime combined: the former using Trick Room as the final phase while the latter uses dual Future Sight]].
* NeverMessWithGranny: She can be assumed to be as old as Fu and is a tough Gym Leader.
* PsychicPowers: Has clairvoyance, a degree of levitation, and specializes in Psychic-types.
* {{Seer}}: What Marianne is in this story and fittingly owns a Xatu.
* SecretKeeper: She knows Fu and the importance of his role. She also knows the true identities of Lady Ledian and Liepard Noir due to her clairvoyance.
* StealthMentor: Downplayed. Throughout Marinette's Gym battle, [[spoiler: Marianne enforces the concepts of fate by berating Marinette's lack of preparedness whenever Marianne had the upper hand and saying how her loss was inevitable, but it only spurred [[{{Determinator}} Marinette]] to push forward despite the overwhelming odds]].
* StealthPun: Her name in the show is meant to reference the Marianne symbol for French resistance during World War II. With her Psychic powers in this story it unintentionally serves as an homage to Marie Anne Lenormand, a famous fortune teller from the Napoleonic era.
* SupportPartyMember: Xatu's only offensive moves are Psychic and Future Sight. Her other moves are [[MindOverMatter Telekinesis]] and Trick Room.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Initially before Marianne's debut in the main show, the role of Anistar Gym Leader was given to Simon Grimault. Instead, he is Marianne's top apprentice, designated to succeed her once she decides to retire.
