* BewareTheSillyOnes: A smug, spoiled 15 year old {{Jerkass}} who starts off as incredibly weak, with powers that include [[ImprobableWeaponUser dropping pianos from the sky with his cellphone]], constantly teases (and occasionally [[AmbiguouslyGay flirts with]]) Neku, is the only male character who can wear girl's clothing the moment he becomes playable, and is the only person in the entire game who can use a mobile, apparently because he didn't get the message about them being banned. When it becomes apparent that the current situation is more dire than he thought, he stops playing around and becomes the most powerful partner of them all, reigning huge beams of holy light down on to enemies with his cellphone rather than pianos. [[spoiler:He's also the BigBad. And God.]]

** Shiki: [[spoiler:Played straight to the end. Shiki's scenario sees that her appearance was important because ultimately to her lesson, looks and imagination are not everything. Be it either her accident was coincidental or infact suicide, her death ultimately leaves an irreplacable rift which Eri will never be able to succeed as a designer or forgive herself as a person over. Because of this, Shiki realizes the worth of her life and sees how important it is she must win her right to live again.]]

* {{Bokukko}}: She has a very boyish appearance and doesn't speak very girly for her age.

* TeensAreShort: Even Beat, by far the tallest of the 15-and-under group, is teeny in juxtaposition with any given character over 17.

* {{Bishonen}}: He's referred to as "Pretty Boy" or "Prissy Kid" by a few Reapers and is noted to pull off wearing women's clothing almost disturbingly well.

* HurtingHero: Beat is constantly burdened with guilt over his failure to protect Rhyme on multiple occasions and will often look down on himself when he reflects on this.

* RatedMForManly: In comparison to [[RealMenWearPink Neku and Joshua]], none of Beat’s special clothing options deal with feminine attire and brands and instead focuses more on street and punk wear. On top of that, he’s also much more well-built compared to the two and is a physical powerhouse compared to [[TheBeastmaster Shiki]] and [[HolyHandGrenade Joshua]].

* OffModel: A very minor example. He is shown wearing a silver band on his right ring finger on the game's cover art, but it is absent from his sprites and the rest of the game's promotional art. In-game, the times he's shown wearing it can be counted on one hand.

* MessianicArchetype: [[spoiler:Joshua is all but symbolism for the Christian son of God, Jesus Christ. Starting with his names, Yoshiya and Joshua, are Japanese and English counterparts of the name "Yeshua"; The historically accurate name of Jesus. Josh's true attack form is often called the "Jesus Beam" by fans, as it summons angels and beams of light. He is the god of Shibuya, and assumes a T-pose when levitating and being absorbed into Draco Cantus. I think it's safe to assume there was some inspiration for his character.]]

* SuccessSymbiosis: She is this to her best friend Eri, helping to make the materials for her friend's fashion hobby and generally being a supportive, admiring friend.
