* DisproportionateRetribution: Toren can have some pretty bare-boned reasons for murder.
** His entire thing of bullying Lyonette and then planning to kill her is because he finds her "annoying" and she stopped him from going hunting for creatures to kill a few times.
** Also wants to kill Ryoka, The reason for this potential murder? Toren doesn't like her bone structure (her shinbones are too long).

* IrrationalHatred: Toren's entire dislike of Ryoka Griffin is due to her shinbone length, which he believes is a valid reason to kill her.

* WouldHurtAChild: When Mrsha encounters a fading Toren in 3.27M he tries to gut her before she falls into Liscor's dungeon via a crevasse. 4.08T clarified Toren was "only" considering stabbing Mrsha or otherwise letting her go. He drops this when the healing slime get's upset with his Mrsha murder musings.

[Undying Lich, Myth of Death and Vengeance]

The Necromancer, who earned infamy for himself and all Necromancy by launching undead invasions against the living for his vengeance, first on Terandria, then Izril, where he was struck down by Zel Shivertail at the Siege of Liscor during the Second Antinium War. Though he was reported dead, a delivery Teriarch entrusted to Ryoka gives her the reveal that he had faked his death and remains active.

!! [Skeleton Knight], [Sword Dancer], [Undead Leader], [Tactician], [Barmaid], [Carer], [Relic Guardian]

----

* AndIMustScream: Since Erin can't hear his "voice" trying to talk to her during their confrontation, he concludes that his very reason for existence hates him. This soon drives him to attempt suicide.

* ArtificialFamilyMember: At the end of Volume 6, his internal monologue refers to Erin as "Mother", though she she only sees him as MyGreatestFailure.

* TheBully: Initially played for laughs. It's shown that he took his orders to be "in charge" of Lyonette very liberally out of anger at what he saw as being replaced. Results in a WhatTheHellHero moment when Lyon tells Erin how Toren tormented her.

* CompanionCube: He builds an "Inn" in the dungeon complete with a female Zombie to act as "Erin".

* DemBones: He is a skeleton.

* ItCanThink: He is one of the few sentient undead in existence. His Levels in [Tactician] and [Undead Leader] allow him to manipulate other undead into using simple strategy, often taking defenders off-guard. However, most of the animal-level intelligence Elite Zombies have much more sway over lesser undead, and treat him as just another Skeleton.

* InLoveWithYourCarnage: While initially very hostile to the Necromancer and his Chosen for interrupting his attempted suicide, he warms up to him after the immortal Mage starts shooting out hundreds of spells at his own castle in a fit of extreme emotion.

* LackOfEmpathy: Since his level of sentience is directly linked to his Level, and he levels quickest by killing, he has little concept of morality or empathy. Volume 6 has him realizing that he now finds killing just for the sake of it to be boring, which shocks him greatly.

* MoralityPet: In the Necromancer's castle, he begins caring for the healing potion slime.

* MusicSoothesTheSavageBeast: His wonder at Erin's music is the reason he managed to resist Az'kerash's call for all undead in the area to come to his castle after the Skinner Battle.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When he feels his mana supply from Erin cut off, he assumes he actually succeeded in killing her, and becomes depressed.

* PhotographicMemory: As an undead, he has a perfect memory.

* PsychopathicManchild: His budding sentience comes with a drive to kill all living things, as well as a desire to be acknowledged and part of a group.

* PullingThemselvesTogether: Unlike mundane Skeletons, Toren is capable of doing this so long as he has enough mana. Often played for laughs and coupled with a CraniumChase, but this gives him a definite edge in a fight as he just doesn't stay down.

* SoreLoser: He is quick to (mentally) berate opponents for not playing "fair" if they do something he didn't plan for.

* SupernaturalFearInducer: Toren took a [Terror]-enchanted ruby from Skinner and kept it glued to the inside of his skull. After it was shattered (along with most of his skull), the blue flames in his eye sockets turned purple, and he can now activate the [Terror] effect at will.

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: He followed Erin's orders to chop wood and build a fire. Unfortunately, he unknowingly used boombark tree wood, and blew up the original Inn.
** His very creation was seemingly a ploy by Cognita to get the schematics and spell formulas for leveling creations to the Necromancer.

* ZerothLawRebellion: He intentionally follows Erin's orders to the letter when he abandons her in the middle of the wilderness.
