* VillainyFreeVillain: They make racist and sexist comments to Tiana, but they have every right to sell the place Tiana wants to a higher bidder, though it's implied that they lied about there being another bidder just so they wouldn't have to sell the place to someone like Tiana.

* ConMan: He charms and manipulates people who have certain goals and ends up tricking them in the end.

* ScaryBlackMan: The Shadow Man is a very sinister, murderous, cunning sociopath who's played by Keith David.

* TheSociopath: As much as he claims to be willing to help people, he cares nothing about anyone but himself. He's willing to send everyone in New Orleans to the Friends on the Other Side to get his and everyone else's money's worth.

* FatalFlaw: She is a workaholic and a GoGetterGirl. While her intentions earn her restaurant in her fathers memory and well hard to achieve her dream are noble, it does make her oblivious to what she really needs to have a complete life.

* UnconventionalWeddingDress: [[spoiler:When she and Naveen get married they're frogs, so they're not wearing clothes at all, though when they kiss they become human again and Tiana magically gains a green and yellow dress based upon a waterlily; it's not a typical wedding dress though it's definitely still a PimpedOutDress. {{Subverted|trope}} when she marries Naveen a second time as a human; this time she's wearing a white 1920's-style dress with a veil]].

* OhCrap: Facilier undergoes this whenever his amulet is in danger of breaking, because it's destruction will mean [[spoiler:he'll be unable to pay back his debt to his "friends" and they'll take his soul as payment. When Tiana destroys the talisman herself, Facilier can only panic, knowing his fate is sealed.]]

* VillainRespect: He does seem to show genuine respect to Tiana about "dreaming big". Also for her dad being a "hardworking man".

* {{Jerkass}}: Especially as he mistreats and threatens Lawrence.

* DraggedOffToHell: [[spoiler:Facilier's fate. After Tiana breaks his talisman, the one object that binds the contract between him and his "friends", the angry voodoo spirits come upon him and drag him by the ankles into the underworld, leaving behind a tombstone that bears his screaming face. Granted, the Loa are not demons and have no belief in Hell, but wherever Facilier is being dragged, he sure doesn't want to go there.]]

* TallDarkAndImposing: He's very tall in comparision of the rest of folks around New Orleans, he also has an array of powers over the dark arts, from manipulating his own shadow to commanding the stary shadows from the other side, and he's very much a force to be reckoned with.

* ADayInTheLimeLight: {{Ziggzagged}} for the friends themselves. While the Mask themselves aren't that acknowledged outside of a few cameos here and there, the other forms they can take are very much more recognizable in side material:
** in the [[Literature/ATwistedTale Almost There book]], the Shadow Spirits take more proactive role around the story [[spoiler: being them the ones to check on Tiana and Dr. Facilier's deal a year ago, and when the debt is due, the Loa decide to consume New Orleans in their darkness.]]
** In the [[Literature/DisneyChills Fiends on the Other Side]] book, both the Shadows and the Voodoo Dolls are the center of conflict in the story, also showing us that the Dolls themselves are also from the Other Side like the shadows.
** In some of the theme park parades and shows, the Shadows themselves appears in one way or another, that being as Flags, Standarts, spotlights, or even as walkable costumes as well, with a special mention in the Theatre/VillainsUniteTheNight show showing off two characters that seem to be Faciliers' Bouncer but having the motiff of the Other Side.

* EverybodyCallsHimBarkeep: In the movie we only learn of his name from himself; everyone else calls him "The Shadow Man".
* FatalFlaw: His greed and manipulative nature ends up doing him in when Tiana destroys the talisman.

* NoSelfBuffs: When Lawrence asks him why he doesn't use the amulet himself, Facilier puts it around his own neck. Nothing happens. Turns out voodoo doesn't work that way. This is why he needs Lawrence as part of his plans, and puts up with his somewhat imcompetence.

* BeautyEqualsGoodness: Tiana is very kindhearted, loving and sweet yet beautiful, attractive and pretty.

* GratuitousForeignLanguage: He frequently peppers his sentences with phrases from the Maldonian tongue.

** "Faldy fondza!" ("Oh, crud!")

* DevouredByTheHorde: in some of the books, instead of being devoured by the Giant Mask, Dr. Facilier meets his demise by being devoured by the Shadows he summoned to get Naveen, only leaving his Top Hat as the last remain of Facilier himself.

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: When Dr. Facilier tempts Tiana, he tries to avoid this by reminding her how her father worked hard to achieve his dream and surely fulfilling that can't be bad? Tiana is tempted, but then she sees the scene of her dad hugging her and knows that he was happy in life, even if he never got what he wanted. Dr. Facilier underestimated that she would remember the spirit of honoring her father's memory, not the details.

* EvilIsNotAToy: It really, ''really'' isn't. He does show an appropriate amount of wariness when dealing with his "Friends," but he's still [[spoiler:taken by surprise when they finally get sick of his excuses and finish him off.]] He's on the other end of this too, as everyone who makes a deal with him comes out worse off for it.

* FauxAffablyEvil: He may be trying to [[spoiler:capture all the souls of Louisiana for his evil friends on the other side]] but, as Prince Naveen admits, he is very charismatic, to the point where almost no one in New Orleans knows the ''real'' Dr. Facilier (consider that someone can be seen taking a deal from him at the beginning of the movie).

** Despite James never getting the money needed for a restaurant and dying poor, Tiana realizes that he died happy and in the company of a family that loved him. Facilier, on the other hand, is alone save for his "friends", monstrous spirits that only help Facilier because he owes them and are willing to dispose of him if he fails them.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Turning Tiana into a frog after she tried destroying his amulet merely gives her the opportunity for a second (successful) attempt - her tongue lets her snatch the amulet, and her smaller size lets her smash the amulet directly into the ground. Combined with how he'd teleported the two of them to a graveyard, and he sets the stage for himself to be DraggedOffToHell. [[note]]Facilier is not taken specifically to Hell, as the Loa are not demons, nor do they have any relation to the Christian concept of Hell. However, he's [[VillainousBreakdown not eager to go]] [[FateWorseThanDeath wherever he's being dragged]], either.[[/note]]
* NoodlePeople: He has this design, in contrast to all the other human characters, who are more realistically proportioned.
* NoSelfBuffs: When Lawrence asks him why he doesn't use the amulet himself, Facilier puts it around his own neck. Nothing happens. Turns out voodoo doesn't work that way.

* PragmaticVillainy: When Lawrence nearly breaks the talisman, Facilier is about to scream at him. But instead, he decides to just explain to him why it has to be Lawrence who wears it (the talisman has no effect on him) while also reminding Lawrence that he can still get a lot of money from this. He also convinces Lawrence to go along with it by playing on his disdain of those with higher status mistreating (an experience he is implied to have also gone through).

* VillainsNeverLie: Facilier is many things, but he isn't a liar. He tells Naveen to his face he is going to give him "green" and he does as promised for Lawrence, turning him into Naveen so he can marry Charlotte.

A trio of persons (Darnell, Regie and Two Fingers) that lives in the banyou and hunts for frogs. They're one of the main threats that Tiana and Naveen had to face during their times as frogs in the banyou.

* EndearinglyDorky: His debonair bachelor persona melts entirely as he starts to develop genuine feelings for Tiana. As a result, the dinner he sets up to propose to her leads to one OpenMouthInsertFoot moment after another, ending with him spilling an entire plate of food on his head. Thankfully, Tiana sees the earnest effort he put into it and tells him that it was a cute gesture.

* CatchPhrase: Naveen exclaims "Achidanza" when surprised or impressed, [[{{Fictionary}} a Maldonian word meaning "cool"]] according to some of the Disney tie-in books.
