* ArtisticLicenseBiology: The classical "oxpeckers = cleaners" is used to portray their friendship, an admittedly common mistake in media. In reality, it's been proven for a while that oxpeckers are actually parasitic and large mammals are uncomfortable with them landing on them because they ''peck their wounds open and drink their blood'', [[FridgeHorror which would make their relationship a lot more abusive]]. Then again, they ''do'' remove ticks in the process, even if it's only to get the blood that the parasites have ingested.

-->'''Voiced in English by:''' Sarah Hyland

Tiifu is a female lion cub, and one of Kiara's friends. She is a great rule-follower, and trusts the judgement of her friends.
----
* ClingyJealousGirl: She gets jealous whenever Kiara hangs out with someone who could become her new bestie.
* GirlyGirl: She's nurturing and bubbly and much like Zuri loves looking her best and giving makeovers to Kiara.
* GreenEyedMonster: In "Fuli's New Family," she was quite resentful about Fuli joining in on her and Kiara's practice hunt, even thinking Fuli was trying to become "Kiara's new bestie."
* JerkassBall:
** In "Can't Wait To Be Queen," she and Zuri reacted to Kiara being made acting queen by setting themselves up as her advisors, talking down to others and ignoring their opinions.
** She goes into this again in "Fuli's New Family", angry that Fuli has committed the [[SarcasmMode great crime]] of hunting near Kiara.
* MeaningfulName: Tiifu means "obedient."
* NiceGirl: She comforts Zuri after she breaks a claw and is generally a very sweet cub, but she does have her moments of being snarky and possessive mainly to others who question Kiara's position as queen and gets jealous if other animals try to form a deep friendship with her. Her kind nature is once again showcased in "The Underground Adventure", where she sympathizes with Thurston over their fear of the dark.
* OddFriendship: Develops one with Thurston the zebra in "The Underground Adventure," when they bond over being afraid of the dark.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Justified, as Tiifu and Zuri are both minor characters, and Simba's Pride focused on Kiara and Kovu. Its entirely possible that they are among the lionesses in the second half of the film.
* ThoseTwoGirls: With Zuri.
* TookALevelInDumbass: In the ''Return of the Roar'' movie, she came off as sensible and down to earth. But later in the series, she seems to be just as oblivious and air-headed as Zuri.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: "The Underground Adventure" reveals she is afraid of the dark. She is fine with nighttime darkness, but she panics when she's in a place that's always dark. She overcomes it thanks to Kuchimba's advice.
* YouthfulFreckles: She has three dark spots of fur on each cheek.

Zuri is a female lion cub, and another of Kiara's friends. She is vain, and not as adventurous as her friends.
----
* DamselInDistress: She is first seen with her claw stuck in a log. In a Polish comic, she is trapped by Makku during a flood.
* GirlyGirl: She loves sharpening her claws to make them shinier and dreads it when she breaks one of them, is not a big fan of anything mucky or gross, and loves helping Kiara look her best by giving her a makeover and enjoys giving one to herself as well.
* IBrokeANail: When Bunga fouls up Timon and Pumbaa's attempt to free Zuri, her claw breaks.
* JerkassBall:
** In "Can't Wait To Be Queen," she and Tiifu reacted to Kiara being made acting queen by setting themselves up as her advisors, talking down to others and ignoring their opinions.
** She along with Tiifu go into this as well in "Fuli's New Family", regarding Fuli hunting alongside Kiara (though Zuri is more indifferent than outright contemptuous).
* PickyEater: She dislikes gazelle, calling it "hyena food."
* MeaningfulName: Zuri means "beautiful."
* {{Narcissist}}: The reason she was stuck in the log? Because of her tendency to sharpen her claws in every piece of wood she passed, as she wanted to keep them shiny.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Justified, as Tiifu and Zuri are both minor characters, and Simba's Pride focused on Kiara and Kovu. Its entirely possible that they are among the lionesses in the second half of the film.
* RescueRomance: PlayedForLaughs. In a Polish comic, if Kion chooses to save Zuri first, then she will nuzzle him, much to his disgust, and the Guard's amusement.
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: She's got eyeshadow-like markings around her eyes.
* ThoseTwoGirls: With Tiifu.

[[caption-width-right:350:''Yes, it's true. I can sound like other animals, any other animal in the Pride Lands, really. It's my little talent''.]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' CJ Byrnes

A drongo bird who has the ability to imitate the voices of other animals.
----
* ArtisticLicenseOrnithology: Tamaa using his voice mimicry to steal food from the other animals is seen as him simply [[LazyBum being too lazy to hunt and gather food for himself]]. But in real life, while it's true they can gather food for themselves, forked-tailed drongos gain about a quarter of their daily calories this way. However, Tamaa appears to be based on the greater racket-tailed drongo, which only ''sometimes'' use their vocal mimicry to scare away animals and steal their food. Too bad that species is native not to Africa but to Asia.
* HeelFaceTurn: While not exactly a villain, he does cause a lot of trouble using his voice mimicry to scare off other small animals to steal their food. Janja capturing him and forcing him to use his ability for evil causes him to decide using his mimicry for good from now on.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: His ability to imitate voices causes Janja to capture him.
* IAmSong: "Bird of a Thousand Voices".
* InformedSpecies: His exact species is not possible to clarify. Given the African setting and his use of voice mimicry to gain food, he is apparently meant to be a fork-tailed drongo, but he also has tail streamers and a small head-crest which makes him look more like a greater racket-tailed drongo.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Starts off as a {{Jerkass}} using his ability to scare off small animals and steal their food, and after supposedly agreeing with the Guard not to do it anymore when they confront him he still tries to mooch off the food from the other small animals and quickly goes back to his old ways. But after Janja captures him and forces him to lure the impalas into the Outlands with his ability, he soon uses it to scare the hyenas allowing the Guard just in time to chase them off and save the impalas. He has [[TookALevelInKindness changed for the better]] by his second appearance, now using his ability to get food the legitimate way (as an entertainer) and is willing to help the Guard when asked.
* MeaningfulName: Tamaa means "disappointed" in Swahili.
* MisplacedWildlife: While Africa has drongos, Tamaa is instead based on an Asian species (specifically, the greater racket-tailed drongo).
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: He does a pretty good job in distracting the jackals while the Guard goes after the hyenas, but then he gives his position away by trying to replicate the Roar of the Elders which he can't.
* RedBaron: See IAmSong above.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: A drongo.
* VoiceChangeling: [[TruthInTelevision Just like real drongos]], he can imitate the sounds and voices of other animals. But it does have limits; he can't replicate the Roar of The Elders or produce anything of similar sound.
* YouCouldHaveUsedYourPowersForGood: As Kion tells him, he could have used his voice mimicry to safeguard the Circle of Life instead of tricking other animals. Later after using his ability to defeat Janja's and his lackeys, he vows to use it for good from now on. "Divide and Conquer" shows he now uses his ability to entertain the other Pridelanders in exchange for food, as well as fooling enemies under the Lion Guard's request.

* ShrinkingViolet: All of them are shy and get scared easily, which is TruthInTelevision.
* TaxonomicTermConfusion: They're often stated to look like hyenas, which [[IAmNotWeasel they get offended by if told so]]. In real life, aardwolves actually are a species of hyena.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Termites, also TruthInTelevision.

[[folder:Kifaru and Mwenzi]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maxresdefault_1_83.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:300:Kifaru (rhino) and Mwenzi (oxpecker).]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MauriceLaMarche (Kifaru) and Rhys Darby (Mwenzi)

A rhino and tickbird pair.
----
* ArtisticLicenseBiology: The classical "oxpeckers = cleaners" is used to portray their friendship, a mistake admittedly common in media.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: According to Beshte, Kifaru is a nice guy. (Not that farfetched when you consider that the white rhino [[TruthInTelevision is far more docile than the black rhino]]). But since he's a ''rhino'' it's a very bad idea to mess with him, especially if you threaten Mwenzi.
* BlindMistake: Kifaru ends up causing trouble wherever he goes, unable to navigate properly due to his especially poor eyesight.
* InterspeciesFriendship: They even have a song about rhinos and tickbirds being friends for a long time.
* LethalKlutz: Kifaru ''is'' a rhino, so due to his poor eyesight, his own clumsiness can cause a lot of damage.
* MeaningfulName:
** Kifaru is Swahili for "[[ADogNamedDog rhinoceros]]".
** Mwenzi is Swahili for "companion", referencing his [[InterspeciesFriendship friendship with Kifaru]].
* PapaWolf: Mess with Kifaru's friends and he ''will'' charge you.
* RhinoRampage: Subverted. Kifaru means well, but [[BlindMistake his tendency to run into things due to his poor eyesight causes problems for the other animals in the Pride Lands]], namely when Mwenzi isn't there to keep him in check. Although, [[PapaWolf if you mess with his friends]], Kifaru will play this straight, as Makuu found out the hard way.
* SeldomSeenSpecies:
** Kifaru is a white rhinoceros, which is not represented in media quite as frequently as the black rhinoceros. As an added bonus, he's the first white rhino to appear in the ''Lion King'' universe; all other rhinos seen in the franchise so far have been black rhinos.
** Mwenzi is a red-billed oxpecker. Similar to Kifaru, he's the first of his species to appear in the show since the other tickbirds have been yellow-billed oxpeckers (also seldom-seen in media).

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kulinda_img.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Elise Allen

A mother hamerkop.
----
* GoodParents: Ono describes her kind to be very good parents, and sure enough she's always very loving and caring to her daughter. She only leaves her un-hatched egg in Ono's nest so it could be in a safe watch until she's finished building a home that's better protected from predators.
* MamaBear: She will fight hawks and vultures to defend her young.
* MeaningfulName: Kulinda means "protect" in Swahili, and this reflects to her being a [[MamaBear Mama Bird]].
* NiceGirl: A kindly citizen of the Pride Lands, so long as you ''[[BewareTheNiceOnes don't mess]]'' ''[[MamaBear with her offspring]]''.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: A hamerkop, similar to egrets (like Ono) and storks, but in a unique family all their own.

[[folder:Chama, Furaha, and Mzaha]]

[[caption-width-right:350:''"[[CatchPhrase Chama chama, mzaha na furaha!]]"'']]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Jacob Bertrand (Chama), Mekai Curtis (Furaha), and Cade Sutton (Mzaha)

A bachelor trio of young male animals, who became outcasts from their respective groups due to their carefree, mischievous nature.
----
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Chama, Furaha and Mzaha are this among their respective groups, where their playful antics aren't appreciated.
* BigThinShortTrio: Chama is a bulky elephant, Furaha is a short red colobus monkey and Mzaha is a svelte sable antelope.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: As silly as they may be, they can be very serious and competent if the situation calls for it, as shown when they rescue Rafiki and Makini when a dry lightning sets their tree on fire.
* {{Fratbro}}: Chama, Furaha and Mzaha are as close to this as wild animals can get.
* HonorableElephant: Played with. The other elephants disapprove of Chama due to his silly nature, but he and his friends do help the Guard put out the fire near Rafiki's tree.
* MeaningfulName:
** Chama the elephant is the leader of his group of friends. Chama in Swahili means "club" or "group," which both describe his "fraternity" with Furaha and Mzaha.
** Furaha means "Happiness" in Swahili, reflecting his fun-loving nature.
** Mzaha likes fooling around with his pals, and he headbutted his fellow herd members for the fun of it. Mzaha means "Joke" in Swahili.
** It's probably not a coincidence that all their names have the word "ha" in them.
* MischiefMakingMonkey: Furaha loves to have fun and fool around with his pals. Deconstructed as the other monkeys of his troop do not approve of his behavior and sent him away for it.
* MisplacedWildlife: Zanzibar red colobuses live on the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin island of Zanzibar]], unlike Furaha and his troop.
* NiceGuy: As silly as they may be, they're good creatures at heart.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: Furaha is a Zanzibar red colobus, while Mzaha is a sable antelope. Averted with Chama, the African elephant.
* TrueCompanions: All three end up leaving their groups and coming back together, realizing the only group they fit in is their own trio. The song "Three of a Kind" is all about this.
* UseYourHead: Mzaha loves to headbutt things, and was sent away from his herd due to headbutting the other antelopes. This turns out to be useful when putting out the fire surrounding Rafiki's tree.

[[folder:Hodari]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hodari_img.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Justin Hires

A gecko who has dreams of becoming a member of Makuu's float.
----
* AnimalStereotypes: [[LovableLizard Heroic lizard]]? Check. Cute and lovable with a dash of awkwardness? Check. Climbs walls and licks his eyes? Check.
* BadassAdorable: A cute little gecko with the courage of a crocodile. He doesn't let his small size stop him from saving Makuu from Kiburi, even jumping onto the evil croc's snout to hinder him.
* BlueIsHeroic: A heroic electric blue gecko.
* BrainsAndBrawn: The Brains to Makuu's Brawn, which certainly evens the odds when raw strength fails the crocodiles, allowing him to cover any weaknesses Makuu might have.
* FailedASpotCheck: For someone who sang about his own skills, among them being stealth, he failed to notice they were being spied at.
* FourLegsGoodTwoLegsBetter: Played with. He often stands on his hind legs, but he also just as often goes on all fours.
* GoodCounterpart: Although they don't meet in the same episode, Hodari seems to fit as one for Kenge. While Hodari is a tiny gecko who aspires to be a crocodile, he isn't really sensitive about his size. Kenge, on the other hand, is a huge monitor lizard (considered the UnpleasantAnimalCounterpart to a gecko) who loses his temper anytime he's called little, or if anyone implies it.
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: When put on the spot, Hodari trusts Kiburi and his crocs - who he's known for all of ten minutes - over Beshte and the Lion Guard - who've dealt with them before - because of what happened earlier with Makuu. This comes back to bite him.
* KarmicJackpot: After Hodari's DavidVsGoliath scenario with Kiburi, Makuu becomes so impressed that he rewards the gecko a place in his float.
* LovableLizard: A heroic gecko who wants to become a crocodile, not letting his small size get in the way.
* MeaningfulName: Hodari means "brave/capable" in Swahili. Hodari bravely jumps onto Kiburi's snout to distract him and give Makuu a HeroicSecondWind, which earns the gecko the respect of Makuu and his float.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After Kiburi betrays him and beats up Makuu, Hodari becomes guilt-ridden and states [[ItsAllMyFault it's all his fault]] since he's the one who gave away information about the Pridelander crocs' fighting techniques to Kiburi's float. Which is worsened by the fact that he also ended his friendship with Beshte and the Lion Guard for Kiburi's float earlier.
* RedBaron: "The Honorary Crocodile"
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Comes with being a gecko.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: A William's dwarf gecko, A.K.A. electric blue gecko. For bonus points, the William's dwarf gecko is a literal seldom-seen species in real life, due to being critically endangered and endemic to a small area in Tanzania.
* TooCleverByHalf: Hodari may have a lot of cleverness to make up for his lack of stature, but he tends to showboat his talent. As a result, he ended up making himself look foolish in front of Makuu, who clearly had no patience it, and worse, easily gullible in the eyes of the bad guys.
* UnwittingPawn: His extensive knowledge of new fighting techniques used by Makuu's float gives Kiburi and his float an advantage when they challenge the former group.
* WallCrawl: Naturally. As a gecko, he possess sticky pads on his hands and feet for clinging onto vertical surfaces, ceilings, and even the bodies of larger animals. This ability becomes useful when distracting Kiburi from murdering Makuu.
* WeakButSkilled: What allows him to synergize with Makuu, who is UnskilledButStrong. Hodari has memorized a lot of fighting techniques, and can effectively improvise when thrust in a DavidVsGoliath scenario with Kiburi, coming up with new skills when Makuu is not at 100%.

[[folder:Kongwe]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_wisdom_of_kongwe_527.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/CCHPounder

An elderly tortoise who is one of the wisest animals of the Pride Lands.
----
* CoolOldLady: An older female tortoise who offers sage advice to her peers.
* CrypticConversation: She often speaks in riddles when sharing her wisdom with others (for example, "He who chases two hares will catch neither.").
* GentleGiant: She's big enough for Fuli to ride on, and has a warm personality. TruthInTelevision, as sulcata tortoises are known for being the largest mainland tortoises, and for having docile temperaments.
* MeaningfulName: Kongwe means "ancient" in Swahili, which fits for a tortoise (known for having long lifespans).
* NiceGirl: Kongwe is very wise, calm, kind-hearted, patient, and grandmotherly.
* RedBaron: "The Wisest of the Wise"
* SeldomSeenSpecies: An African spurred tortoise a.k.a. sulcata tortoise.
* SturdyAndSteadyTurtles: Not only does she move slowly, but she prefers to take things at a slow and calm pace, making observations along the way. Fuli is initially exasperated by this due to the fact they're in an EscortMission (and, being a cheetah, she would rather do everything fast), but she gradually takes her advice to heart especially when it becomes useful in defeating Makucha.
* TurtlePower: She follows the common portrayal of tortoises as slow-moving, wise, and long-lived.
* WiseOldTurtle: She's known to be the wisest animal in the Pride Lands, having seen many things throughout her long life.

[[folder:Kinyonga]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kinyonga.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Meghan Strange

A color-changing chameleon.
----
* AchillesHeel: If she gets scared or nervous, she'll lose control of her camouflage and change colors wildly.
* ActionGirl: She is able to hold out against Shupavu and her skinks quite well on her own, until she ends up in a dead end.
* BadassAdorable: A cute, little chameleon who is an ActionGirl.
* CartoonyEyes: Averted. Her eyes are accurate for a chameleon, namely having the joined eyelid that covers most part of the eye (which is often omitted in cartoons). She does have small eyelashes as TertiarySexualCharacteristics, though.
* DistaffCounterpart: To Hodari, as they're both small, heroic lizards who wish to take on huge challenges others are wary of letting them take, and sing songs emphasizing how their size doesn't matter when they've got a unique skill. Additionally, they're both quick, clever, and very stealthful.
* ADogNamedDog: Kinyonga means "chameleon" in Swahili.
* ExactEavesdropping: She reveals to the Guard that she knows about Scar's return, having overheard it from the skinks. And since she's a chameleon...
-->'''Ono''': The skinks talked about Scar? Right in front of you?\\
'''Kinyonga''': It's amazing what you hear when nobody can see you.
* GoodCounterpart: She is this to Shupavu, both being spies for opposing sides.
* HollywoodChameleons: Of the type that can turn invisible.
* IAmSong: Sings "Now You See Me, Now You Don't" as she demonstrates her camouflage and color-changing ability to the Guard.
* LovableLizard: She follows the portrayal of chameleons as colorful BadassAdorable heroes. She insists helping the Lion Guard by spying on Scar in the Outlands upon overhearing their predicament, despite them warning her it would be very dangerous if not life-threatening.
* MisplacedWildlife: She is based on a veiled chameleon, which is native to the Arabian Peninsula rather than Africa.
* MultipurposeTongue: Her very long and sticky chameleon tongue can be used to outwit adversaries.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: She looks different than the other chameleons previously seen in the series, being comparatively more detailed and having eyes realistic for a chameleon.
* PrehensileTail: Being a chameleon, she has a curled tail for grabbing onto things.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: As expected from a chameleon, almost as cute as [[WesternAnimation/{{Tangled}} Pascal]].
* SeldomSeenSpecies: She's a veiled chameleon, judging by her prominent crest.
* SomewhereAHerpetologistIsCrying: In addition to near complete invisibility (which real life chameleon's obviously can't do), she changes color much too quickly. Additionally, while some chameleons change color to blend into their surroundings (and even then, not nearly the extent that Kinyonga does), it's more often used for social interaction.
* WeakButSkilled: When dealing with more formidable opponents, Kinyonga relies on her reflexes and wit as well as her camouflage, prehensile tail, and long and sticky tongue.

-->'''Voiced by''': [[Music/BackstreetBoys AJ McLean]]

A golden mole who lives underground.
----
* BerserkButton: Intruding and stealing his tunnels, due to his species being territorial.
* BlindMistake: Averted. Despite being blind (in fact, he doesn't even have eyes, which Zuri points out), he makes no mistake in guiding the gang through the tunnels until they get as far as his territory expands. It helps that he still has other senses to help him navigate, such as his ability to feel vibrations ([[TruthInTelevision just like real golden moles]]).
* EyelessFace: He doesn't have eyes, instead having dark spots where his eyes should be. This is TruthInTelevision; golden moles have their eyes covered over by furry skin as a result of living in total darkness underground.
* MeaningfulName: Kuchimba is Swahili for "dig".
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: His design looks like he came right out of ''WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitch''.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Despite lacking eyes, he's quite adorable. Zuri even lampshades this.
* SeldomSeenSpecies: When was the last time you saw a golden mole in a work of fiction?
