Head Thwomp will then slow to a stop and perform an action. If the red face was chosen, it takes damage and drops a healing item. If another one was chosen, it takes no damage and performs an attack, from the following:

While riding through the countryside of Hyrule, the Triforce summons Link to Hyrule Castle, where he is sent to either Holodrum or Labrynna. He has a Triforce mark on his hand, which signifies him as a hero from Hyrule to the natives of those lands. ''Literature/HyruleHistoria'' states that he is the same hero from ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaALinkToThePast A Link to the Past]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendofZeldaLinksAwakening Link's Awakening]]''. However, the Japanese version of ''Hyrule Compendium'' has [[{{Retcon}} retconned him into being a new Link]].

* ExperiencedProtagonist: He has already saved one land before the start of the games; namely, Hyrule back during the events of ''A Link to the Past''.

* RecognitionFailure: Downplayed. When the two first meet, she recognizes Link but does not seem to know him firsthand, despite supposedly being the same princess he rescued in ''A Link to the Past''.

* YouDontLookLikeYou: She's allegedly the same princess Link encountered in ''A Link to the Past'', yet she has a much younger appearance and a more reddish hue to her hair than she did previously.

* FinalBoss: Of both games in the linked scenario; he and Twinrova are encountered in a bonus area after Onox/Veran are killed at the end of the second game.

* FairySexy: A sign of Veran's [[VainSorceress vanity]], she deems her "true" form to be "hideous." Said form retains her stunning facial features and curvaceous figure while, in accordance with the trope, decking Veran out in clothes even skimpier than her already mildly {{Stripperiffic}} dress. The only other characteristics that distinguish Veran from the rest of her fairy kin are more prominent head antennae, [[GoodWingsEvilWings sharper wings]], and what is either [[SlasherSmile a lurid grin]] or {{fangs|AreEvil}}, all of which are, at worst, minor blemishes on her physical beauty.

* MeaningfulName: "Vera" as in "truth", fitting a villain who's constantly hiding her true form.

* OneWingedAngel: Her true appearance is that of a fairy. Veran has an additional ''three'' she doesn't want anyone to see (bee, beetle, and spider).

* PeekABangs: Her hair covers her right eye.

* PeekABangs: His hair partially covers his eyes.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Her attempts to find and eliminate [[AchillesHeel Mystery Seeds]] results in Queen Ambi rewarding Link with a bomb bag necessary to access the second dungeon and didn’t even stop Link from having access to Mystery Seeds. If she didn’t do this. Link wouldn’t have been able to get all of the [[PlotCoupon Essences of Time]], and he (and the player) most likely wouldn’t have learned her weakness either.

* HumanShield: She’s more than happy to exploit the fact that attacking the person she’s possessing will only kill the person she’s possessing and not her. Unfortunately for her, mystery seeds forcer her out of her host, bypassing this entirely.

* DrivesLikeCrazy: Maple's rage at Link "crashing into her" and not the other way around would be more believable if she didn't fly several loops around the same screen in increasingly convoluted patterns. If you're not leaving the screen, she can actually be quite tricky to dodge.
* FlyingSaucer: In a linked game, once she's stolen a certain amount of Rupees from Link, she ends up ditching her broom for a shiny new UFO.

* LuckBasedMission: Maple prioritizes collecting her dropped items by most valuable to least. Unfortunately, one of these items can be a Piece of Heart -- she will ''always'' go for it first, and unlike Link she can fly. All the player can do is hope it landed somewhere Link can reach before Maple retrieves it.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Since most encounters with her require the player to intentionally crash into her, she does have a right to be upset with you for knocking her things loose.

* BigBadDuumvirate: A dragon to Twinrova and by extension Ganon/Ganondorf, but by far the most visible of the main antagonists in these two games.

* ChickMagnet: Ladies love him across both games. [[StealthPun If you find Cuccos anywhere, their chicks will follow Link around.]] In the unofficial manga, he even has a pet Cucco chick, Piyoko. Link: ''literal'' ChickMagnet!

* HeroesWantRedHeads: In addition to Zelda, who's a strawberry blonde this time and gives Link a SmoochOfVictory for saving her, the manual for ''Seasons'' suggests an attraction to Din, the redheaded Oracle of Seasons. The (unofficial) manga outright confirms it.

* InterspeciesRomance: The Maku Tree wants to marry him when she grows up, he dates Rosa the Subrosian, and in the (unofficial) manga, his pet Cucco Piyoko admits to being in love with him.

* OfficerAndAGentleman: He claims to be this in the official manga, but it hardly shows.

* ProngsOfPoseidon: Wields his trident as usual.

* GagBoobs: Her bust is so large, it hardly fits into her dress.

* BareYourMidriff: Her outfit has bulky parts for intimidation, but it's also an elegant dress with the midriff bared.

* MsFanservice: She's a [[HotWitch sorceress]] with a [[ImpossibleHourglassFigure hourglass figure]] and wears a dress that bares her [[BareYourMidriff stomach]] and [[CleavageWindow some of her cleavage]]. Her OneWingedAngel form as a [[FairySexy fairy]] isn't so bad looking either.

* FailedASpotCheck: The cute Labrynna Maku Tree sprout asks Link to come back and see her when she comes of age. Maku Trees live for hundreds of years - she doesn't become a mature tree until 400 hundred years later! Link would be long dead were it not for time-travel.
