%%* * BigGood: Of the sequels.sequels. They frequently lead the meetings between the adults and spearhead retaliation against threats to the valley. Grandpa is also shown to share command with Topps.

Added DiffLines:

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Grandpa Longneck is a kindhearted, gentle soul and the voice of reason for the Valley. When he hears Pterano has returned and is spewing his self-important bullshit to the children, he becomes irritable and aggressive, splashing his tail against the water and ranting about him. This is not Grandpa being stern when disciplining Littlefoot; this is legitimate, personal anger towards Pterano for his cowardice that got many dinosaurs killed, and the scene establishes Pterano as a very personal foe to the valley.

His only tactic is to charge forward and gnash his teeth, and throughout his fight with Littlefoot's mother, he takes multiple tail whips to the face that send him crashing into the nearest rock. However, Sharptooth is so ridiculously strong and durable that he doesn't need to be skilled. He still manages to mortally wound the sauropod, and none of her attacks leave a mark on him.

* StreetUrchin: The dour conditions of Littlefoot's first years of life are a clear metaphor for being born into poverty, and when he loses his mother, he perfectly fits the description of a desperate street orphan.

* {{Expy}}: Of Bambi's mom, from giving birth to a son at the beginning, [[HeroicSacrifice to dying while rescuing her son from one out get him.]]
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: We never actually see what injuries lead to her death, and considering one of the scenes contains a [[ShadowDiscretionShot horrifying shadow shot]] of Sharptooth biting a chunk of flesh out of her back, it's probably better that we don't. * AerithAndBob: She's the Bob among the original five, as her name is the only one that sounds like a modern human name (pronounced like "Sarah"). Ruby is the second one.

%%** Towards her baby sister Tricia, as well as her friends.
** She's kind of a grey area for her niece and nephew, Dana and Dina, since she often gets annoyed by their antics. However, she still loves them, and gets freaked out when they disappear.
* BigDamnHeroes: After separating from the group, she returns to deliver the final blow to defeat the Sharptooth once and for all.
* BreakTheHaughty: She spends most of the first film bragging about how she can take care of herself... until she nearly gets everyone killed following her way.
* CantLiveWithThemCantLiveWithoutThem: Despite constantly complaining about them, she seems to genuinely value her friends. Much more literally in the first film, when she ''despises'' the group's company thanks to her FantasticRacism, but has to stick together to avoid starving, freezing, or getting eaten. [[note]]They help her at least three times. Not only do they accept her into the group and let her travel with them after she meets Sharptooth, but they give her some of the "green food" they got off a tree when she's unable to get some down herself; they cuddle with her at night so she wouldn't be cold and alone, and finally they save her from the pack of Pachycephalosauruses that were about to eat her after she went the wrong way at the volcano valley.[[/note]]
* CatchPhrase:
** In the TV series: "I'll believe it when I see it."
** She does her HaughtyHmph often enough that it's practically one of these as well.
* ChangedMyMindKid: Returns to the group in the last minute at the climax to help them defeat Sharptooth.
* CommanderContrarian: At times it seems like her whole reason for existing in the plot is just to disagree with whatever plan Littlefoot has come up with. ''Some'' of her criticisms are justifiable, during occasions where Littlefoot gets a bit overly exuberant, but even then, she almost never offers an alternative. A perfect example would be during ''The Stone of Cold Fire'', in which she protests against the idea of crossing a chasm via some extremely flimsy vines. While she's perfectly correct that the idea is very dangerous, when asked if she has any other ideas, she has no choice but to reluctantly fall in line.
* DaddysGirl: She is close to her father, which makes sense because of her mother's disappearance. Her relationship with him is part of the reason why she's so stubborn and tomboyish.
* DeadpanSnarker: A big one in the sequels and TV show. Provides a lot of the funnier lines in the series as a result.
* DirtyCoward: In the first film. Brags about how brave she is when there's no enemy around to prove her mettle, and even headbutts targets she doesn't think can/will hit back (her sisters and parents when she's born, insects, frogs, what seems to be a dead Sharptooth...), but the second she's faced with something that can harm her (lightning, a very much alive Sharptooth...) she runs screaming.
* FantasticRacism: She starts out being very prejudiced against any dinosaur that isn't a three-horn in the first film. [[DefrostingIceQueen She mellows pretty fast, though.]]
* FantasticSlur: In the first film. And unlike Petrie, she's ''not'' an InnocentBigot.
-->'''Cera:''' My father told me that ''flatheads'' had very small brains.
* GreenEyedMonster: Cera seems to get extremely jealous when an outside character hogs all of Littlefoot's attention. This is most visible with Ali and Mo. And again with her half-sister Tricia.
* HairTriggerTemper: It doesn't take much to anger Cera. But this is toned down greatly in the sequels... unless her friends or her baby sister are being threatened. Interestingly, when Anndi [=McAfee=] started voicing her, she became somewhat more aggressive.
* HaughtyHmph: She does this almost nonstop in every appearance she's ever made, to the point that she rarely goes fifteen minutes on screen without grunting one.
* HumiliationConga: Suffers one in the first film after going the wrong way. First she is ambushed and nearly devoured by a pack of vicious predators. The predators are scared off by an even more horrifying monstrosity that makes its way towards Cera and picks her up, terrifying her. Only it turns out that it's just the other kids covered in tar. Once Cera realizes this, she appears happy and relieved for just a moment. Until the other kids all start laughing at her, angering her. She wrenches herself free from them and clumsily falls to the ground, making them laugh harder. She furiously tries to insist she knew it was them all along, but it's obvious none of them believe her. She starts to storm off, then slips in a puddle of tar and falls over, causing the others to laugh at her again. ''Then'' she bonks her head on a thick stalactite, making the others all laugh once more. She then takes off completely. All of this, along with the knowledge that she'd been in the wrong the whole time, causes her to break down into tears the second she's alone.
* IneffectualLoner: In the first movie, before learning ThePowerOfFriendship and becoming part of the group. In later movies she still has a tendency to storm off by herself after disagreements with the group, but her leave is never permanent.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's bossy, she's egotistical, she's short-tempered, and she'll always come through for her friends. Although in the first film she was bordering on {{Jerkass}}, only just redeeming herself in the final act.
* KickTheDog: In the first movie, after she [[UngratefulBitch insults Littlefoot's mother]] and the two fight, the film makes it clear that Cera [[CurbStompBattle won a swift and decided victory.]] However, rather than letting Littlefoot walk away with some dignity, Cera rubs salt in the wound by delivering one last blow after his back was turned and he had given up, then gloats with a triumphant "Ha!" Littlefoot is so angry afterwards that he ''cries'' with frustration and helplessness, and the film makes it clear that that was a low blow even for her.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: In the first film, she constantly brags to the others about how she alone knows how to do things (how to get across the chasm, how to get green food, how to reach the Great Valley), and she's almost always ''wrong.''
* TheLancer: To Littlefoot. She consistently acts as a foil to his character and ideas (see CommanderContrarian), yet is his most reliable supporter when they actually agree on courses of action.
* LaserGuidedKarma: The receiving end of this in the first movie when she suffers through a HumiliationConga.
* MeaningfulName: Derived from her genus name of Tri'''cera'''tops.
* MissingMom: At the beginning of the movie, Cera is seen with both of her parents, but at the end, her mother is nowhere to be seen [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse and is never seen nor mentioned in the sequels]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone:
** In the first film after she refuses to follow Littlefoot and leads the other dinosaurs down a different path, which nearly gets them killed, and she narrowly escapes death herself from a pack of predators. She is only saved by the timely intervention of her friends, who disguise themselves in tar to scare off the predators, and they even [[HumiliationConga use the opportunity to prank her]]. The combination of that, the realization she'd been wrong all along, and even implied guilt over earlier insulting Littlefoot's mother and being ashamed of her own fear, causes her to skulk off on her own before she breaks down into sobbing.
** In ''The Secret of Saurus Rock'', she feels responsible for Dana and Dinah running away because she yelled at them and told them to get lost.
* MyNaymeIs: Her name is pronounced similarly to common pronunciations of "Sarah" but is spelled C-E-R-A.
* NeatFreak: Cera hates getting covered in muck or foul substances of any kind, and usually puts up quite a fuss if the journey requires it of her. She didn’t want to hide in the stinky flowers in the fifth film. This also applies to 'stinkweed', which she's forced to cover herself with in the fourteenth film to hide her scent from sharpteeth.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: After her fight with Littlefoot, she leads everyone into a complete danger zone, nearly getting them and herself killed.
* NumberTwo: To Littlefoot. In the event he is missing or not with the gang, most notably in ''The Great Longneck Migration'', she is the one who leads the gang.
* OnlySaneMan: Amazingly is this in ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses''. When the rest of the gang are crying in regret over their harsh treatment of Littlefoot, she is the one who pushes them to apologize.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: In ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'', when she finds her friends crying in remorse over chasing Littlefoot away, she suggests they apologize to him in an unusually calm and gentle manner.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations: The fact that, despite being a child, she is already the aunt of two threehorn hatchlings named Dana and Dinah proves she has at least 1 older sibling who is already at an age that he/she can have children. This sibling is not seen however.
* RageBreakingPoint: Cera already had little patience with Scuttle, but the crustacean asking one favor too many (plus getting sucked underwater by a whirlpool twice when trying to get the water greens he requested) becomes the last straw for her and she ''explodes'' at him to gather up the sand-creepers in the Great Valley or else there will be no one to listen to his stories.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Littlefoot's Blue, being more hot-headed, brash, forceful, and impulsive.
* SignatureLaugh: A smug little "Hee...", usually done when she succeeds at accomplishing something. Lampshaded in one of the sequels wherein she ''actually says it'' in a slightly nervous voice as opposed to actually laughing, right before she falls into a river.
* SpoiledBrat: Behaves like this in the first film, by virtue of her being a three-horn, which she sees as [[FantasticRacism superior]] to the other species, therefore entitling her to various privileges such as food and leadership. She grows out of it, but still has occasional moments acting like one again in future films.
* TemperCeratops: Like her father, she initially firmly believes her kind is incompatible with hanging around and playing with other kinds of dinosaurs. And even after she overcomes this, she remains the most bossy and temperamental member of the gang, butting heads against the others if things don't go her way.
* TokenEvilTeammate: In the first film. In some ways, she is actually ''more'' antagonistic than Sharptooth!
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Ducky (and later Ruby's) Girly Girl.
* TookALevelInKindness: While she's still egotistical and abrasive in the sequels, she's mellowed out considerably from the first movie.
* {{Tsundere}}: She's stubborn, spoiled, and arrogant, and often hides her true feelings behind sharp-tongued rudeness.
* TheUnapologetic: She refuses to apologize for calling Littlefoot's mother stupid or for putting everyone in danger, out of her pride and her inability to admit to her wrongdoings, although she does wander off on her own and subsequently breaks down crying after she realizes how badly she messed up.
* UngratefulBitch: For most of the first movie, she remains prejudiced against longnecks and goes so far as to call Littlefoot's mother ''stupid'' even after she'd given her life to save her and Littlefoot from Sharptooth. Like many other negative traits, this too fades out as time goes.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: The whole plot of ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'' wouldn't have happened if Cera didn't make fun of Littlefoot about his size, which led to him knocking off the tree-sweets in the first place.
* UseYourHead: She is a ''Triceratops'', after all, so naturally she thinks RammingAlwaysWorks.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Littlefoot from day one. Even after she puts their [[FantasticRacism difference]] aside, they still get into arguments quite frequently.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Cera doesn't do too well when it comes to cliffs, chasms, and anything involving crossing them. Unfortunately, they face this dilemma at least once a movie.

to:

\n* AerithAndBob: She's AdultsAreUseless: Averted. They are the Bob among most level-headed, intelligent characters in the original five, as her name is the entire series. The only one reason they aren't a bigger help is that sounds like a modern human name (pronounced like "Sarah"). Ruby is they have to deal with the second one.rest of the adults.
* AdultFear: In the first movie, they were separated from their daughter and grandson during an earthquake. If Littlefoot hadn't made it to the Great Valley on his own, they never would have found out what happened to either of them. The sequels occasionally touch on their fear of losing Littlefoot too.
* AscendedExtra: In the first film, they only appear in a few scenes at the beginning and end and have no dialogue other than a couple of brief chuckles. In the sequels, they are major supporting characters, with the greatest screen presence of the adults.
* BattleCouple: There are multiple occasions where they've worked together to fight off an enemy.
%%%%* BigDamnHeroes:
* BewareTheNiceOnes: The two are the kindlest and gentlest Longnecks in the series... yet both are capable of kicking major Sharptooth ass (and, indeed, ''do just that'' in ''The Great Longneck Migration'') and the look on Grandpa Longneck's face as he slides in to save Littlefoot from a Sharptooth is terrifying! Also, if you insult their grandson they will ''not'' be happy.
%%* BigGood: Of the sequels.
* CoolOldGuy: Grandpa Longneck can hold his own against a Sharptooth. Not bad for an old dinosaur.
* CoolOldLady: Grandma Longneck has been shown to take on a Sharptooth as well.

%%* ActionGirl: When you can shatter rocks with your head, you've earned this title.

GoodParents: Not only do they accept her into the group and let her travel with them after she meets Sharptooth, to Littlefoot, but they give her some of the "green food" they got off a tree when she's unable to get some down herself; they cuddle with her at night so she wouldn't be cold and alone, and finally they save her from the pack of Pachycephalosauruses that were about also this to eat her after she went the wrong way at the volcano valley.[[/note]]
their daughter.
* CatchPhrase:

While she's perfectly correct that the idea is

each other.
* DaddysGirl: She is close MamaBear: They are both quite protective of their grandson and will fight off dangerous predators to her father, which makes sense because of her mother's disappearance. Her relationship with keep him is part of the reason why she's so stubborn and tomboyish.
* DeadpanSnarker: A big one in the sequels and TV show. Provides a lot of the funnier lines in the series as a result.
* DirtyCoward: In the first film. Brags about how brave she is when there's no enemy around to prove her mettle, and even headbutts targets she doesn't think can/will hit back (her sisters and parents when she's born, insects, frogs, what seems to be a dead Sharptooth...), but the second she's faced with something that can harm her (lightning, a very much alive Sharptooth...) she runs screaming.
safe.
* FantasticRacism: She starts out being NiceGuy: Both of them are very prejudiced against any dinosaur that isn't kind-hearted.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Mama Longneck was their daughter. Their own grief over her loss is almost never touched on, but there is
a three-horn moment in the first film. [[DefrostingIceQueen She mellows pretty fast, though.]]
* FantasticSlur: In the first film. And unlike Petrie, she's ''not'' an InnocentBigot.
-->'''Cera:''' My father told me

* GreenEyedMonster: Cera seems to get extremely jealous when an outside character hogs

* ParentalSubstitute: They've acted as
Littlefoot's attention.
* HumiliationConga: Suffers one in
parents since the first film after going the wrong way. All of this, along with the knowledge that she'd been film.
* RetiredBadass: Implied
in the wrong the whole time, causes her to break down into tears the second she's alone.
* KickTheDog: In the first movie, after she [[UngratefulBitch insults Littlefoot's mother]] and the two fight, the film makes it clear that Cera [[CurbStompBattle won a swift and decided victory.]] However, rather than letting Littlefoot walk away with some dignity, Cera rubs salt in the wound by delivering one last blow after his back was turned and he had given up, then gloats with a triumphant "Ha!" the rest of his family.

* ActionGirl: Her attempt to bait the sharptooth in the original definitely counts as this.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Is the main character in ''The Big Freeze'', which heavily revolves around her family dynamic with Spike. Her solo departure to find Spike after he leaves with the other spiketails is the catalyst for the events of the film's entire second half.
* BadassAdorable: Don't let her size fool you. If you're threatening someone she cares about, especially her little brother, she ''will'' stand up to you.
* BigSisterInstinct: She loves Spike to death. She even started attacking a ''T. rex'' when he was paralyzed with fear.
* CatchPhrase: "Yep yep yep!" Sometimes modified to "Nope nope nope."
* CheerfulChild: Ducky is almost always happy and very excitable.
* TheChick: Ducky is the more girly of the groups females, in contrast to Cera's tomboyishness.
* CuddleBug: Ducky tends to be pretty liberal on initiating physical contact with people, and often grabs their hand, tail, appendage, or even pull them into a hug without any warning. The usual recipient of this is Spike, but she's also done it to Littlefoot, Petrie, and Chomper.
* TheCutie: Her pep, positivity, and friendliness makes her this out of the original five, and she still shares the role nowadays with Chomper.
* DamselInDistress: Frequently fits this role. The most notable instance is in ''The Stone of Cold Fire'', where she is taken hostage by Pterano to ensure no one interferes with his search for the titular stone.
* DisappearedDad: Her father appears in the first installment but vanishes in the sequels. Granted, this ''might'' be due to what happened to Judith Barsi at the hands of her father...
* TheHeart: Along with Littlefoot.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: In movie eight, Ducky attempts to pretend that she doesn't care about Spike when he starts giving his new friend Tippy more attention than her. In one scene, where Petrie casually mentions Tippy's herd is going away, the facade instantly breaks and she joyfully hugs [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments a very confused looking Petrie.]]
* JerkassBall: The TV episode "Search for the Sky Colored Stones" shows that Ducky isn't without a dark side. During a hunt for sky colored stones (geodes), her brother gets stuck in a cave opening, and instead of running off to get help she proceeds to find and hoard all the geodes in the cave for herself, intentionally misdirects Ruby and Cera so they never find any themselves, and generally acts like a sneaky, paranoid nutcase. She ends up having a HeelRealization after a [[FriendOrIdolDecision life or geode decision]].
* ManicPixieDreamGirl: Platonic version. When they first meet, Ducky pulls Littlefoot out of his long-standing depression (from losing his mother and being rejected by Cera) due to her cheerful, sunny disposition.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: Besides Spike, Ducky hast at least 3 other sisters, but in movie six, she mentions that she was originally part of a nest of 13 twins, so she understands twin talk very well.
* MotorMouth: A mild example in the first movie, mostly due to her many verbal tics and outgoing personality, which goes along with the original name for 'swimmer': Bigmouth.
* NiceGirl: The nicest of the gang along with Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby.
* NotSoInnocentWhistle: While trying to muster up the nerve to call Sharptooth's attention to her, she hums nervously under her breath.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Besides Spike, she arguably [[KiddieKid acts the most naive and childlike]] of the group, though the first film shows she is in fact slightly older than Cera and Littlefoot.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Petrie.
* SpannerInTheWorks: It's quite amazing how such a little girl can cause so many problems for so many different villains. It's also the primary cause for her DamselInDistress role.
* TeamMom: She always comforts and pep-talks everyone, and her plucky personality usually rubs off on everyone around her.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Petrie, with whom she interacts with the most (likely due to both being the smallest of the gang).
* TinMan: In ''The Big Freeze'', Ducky had to ask Cera what the strange emotions she was feeling towards Spike's constant snoring and keeping her awake were. When Cera told her she was feeling angry, Ducky was mystified, because she had never felt anger before, and Cera has to teach her (in song, no less), how to express anger. This is probably referring to explicit anger, as she's clearly shown to display annoyance and dislike before this.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Cera's Tomboy, although she's pretty adventurous and is only really a Girly Girl when compared to Cera.
* TreeCover: Her small size means she often walks in on important conversations unnoticed. See SpannerInTheWorks.
* VerbalTic: Ducky has several. The first and most widely known is her tendency to repeat "yep" or "nope" three times at the end of a sentence for emphatic effect. She does the same for 'he/she/it does' and 'he/she/it is', except she only repeats these phrases twice at the end of a sentence. She will rarely, if ever, use contractions and will say “can not” and “do not” instead of “can’t” or “don’t”. Finally, she'll occasionally add needless tense modifiers at the end of words, resulting in phrases like 'scardeded' and 'foundeded'.
* WhyAreYouLookingAtMeLikeThat: When Littlefoot explains his trap for Sharptooth, he realizes that they'll need bait to lure him into position. Cue a smiling head turn towards Ducky, the only one in the group who doesn't have a job yet. Naturally, she doesn't seem particularly thrilled, but seems to agree to it in the end. To give this context, it was a far safer job for her to do than it would have been for the other three, given she just needed to lead Sharptooth to a pool of water that she could swim in and he couldn't.

does more harm than good.
* CatchPhrase: "Yep yep yep!" Sometimes modified CharacterDevelopment: His disdain for other species is definitely toned down after the third film, in which he is saved by Grandpa Longneck and comes across a parent as bad as he is.
* CoveredInMud: In ''Great Day of the Flyers'', thanks
to "Nope nope nope.Guido.
* DeathGlare: Pretty much every look he ever gives Wild Arms wishes terrible, terrible things would happen to him, but most notably the first time the two are on screen together. He also gives one to Guido after he causes him to get covered in mud.
* DividedWeFall: His stubbornness finally gets him and Cera into trouble in ''Time Of Great Giving'', and they end up getting saved by Grandpa Longneck.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He's not exactly the world's greatest dad, but even he's disgusted with how Hyp's father treats his son.
* FantasticRacism: He doesn't think highly of dinosaurs other than his kind, and is especially prejudiced against longnecks. Seems to get along with Grandpa Longneck in the sequels well enough, however.
* FreudianExcuse: The reason why he acts like a grump is for the sake of his family and because his own father was as grumpy as him. The absence of his wife and all of his children besides Cera from the second film onward may also explain it.
* GrumpyBear: Is perpetually in a bad mood. Even his daughter states he's always mad.
* HeroAntagonist: While the bullies are the main antagonists to the children and the drought is the major threat to the Great Valley in ''Time of the Great Giving'', he begins causing problems all on his own when he takes charge of the dinosaurs' limited water supply.
* {{Jerkass}}: His defining trait is his stubborn, unfriendly exterior. He taught Cera her FantasticRacism in the first film, and he repeatedly caused trouble for all the other grown-ups in the sequels and the series.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He genuinely loves his daughter despite all his other flaws. He also points out to Hyp’s father in ''The Time Of the Great Giving'' that yelling at one’s children only hurts them more than helps as he realized with his interactions with his daughter. In ''Secret of Saurus Rock'', he actually felt bad about upsetting Littlefoot by blaming Doc for their recent misfortune in the Great Valley, while also conceding that Doc seems to be a perfectly fine fellow but for seemingly being "bad luck.
"
* CheerfulChild: Ducky TheLancer: He's second in authority only to Grandpa in the Great Valley, sometimes sharing the role of leader.
* MeaningfulName: Like his daughter, his given name
is almost always happy likely derived from his genus name of Tricera'''tops'''.
* MisterDescriptor: He's one of the only parents of the gang who's first name has been revealed: Topps. However, no one ever calls him this save for his wife's AffectionateNickname of 'Topsy',
and instead just refer to him by his species.
* OppositesAttract: He's hard as stone and utterly head over heels for sweet, amicable, candy-pink Tria, both when they were younger and later on in life. In addition, she's the only one who can calm him down.
* PapaWolf: While a GrumpyBear to begin with, nothing makes him angrier than threatening his family.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The manly to Grandpa Longneck's sensitive. He believes in being tough (and sings a whole song about it), is
very excitable.aggressive, and has a short temper, while Grandpa is a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant and more nurturing, polite and soft-spoken.
* TemperCeratops: One of the defining examples of a rather unsocial herbivore in fiction. Topps initially firmly holds onto the belief that his kind is incompatible with hanging around and playing with other kinds of dinosaurs, and even after mellowing out somewhat in the later movies, he can still be bossy and temperamental whenever things don't go his way.
* TookALevelInKindness: After his CharacterDevelopment in the third film, his prejudice and his general abrasiveness slowly but surely starts to tone down. Even more evident once Tricia is born.
* {{Troll}}: While he shows admirable acceptance by not treating Chomper like a threat, he still has no qualms telling him blatantly untrue stories just to get a kick of how scared he can make him, nor has any problems openly mocking him for his tiny arms when he knows he's self-conscious about them.

* TheChick: Ducky is the more girly of the groups females, in contrast to Cera's tomboyishness.
* CuddleBug: Ducky tends to
VillainSong: Not really a villain, just an antagonist. "Standing Tough" could be pretty liberal on initiating physical contact with people, and often grabs their hand, tail, appendage, or even pull them into a hug without any warning. The usual recipient of considered this is Spike, but she's also done it to Littlefoot, Petrie, and Chomper.in the third film, given what he was doing at the time.
* TheCutie: Her pep, positivity, and friendliness makes her WasTooHardOnHer: He realizes he had been this out of the original five, and she still shares the role nowadays with Chomper.
towards Cera after witnessing Hyp's father yell at his son.
* DamselInDistress: Frequently WellIntentionedExtremist: He will do anything to protect his family, going to violent lengths. He especially fits this role. The most notable instance is trope in ''The Stone of Cold Fire'', where she is taken hostage by Pterano to ensure no one interferes with his search for the titular stone.
* DisappearedDad: Her father appears in the first installment but vanishes in the sequels. Granted, this ''might'' be due to what happened to Judith Barsi at the hands of her father...
* TheHeart: Along with Littlefoot.
* NiceGirl: The nicest
"Time of the gang along with Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby.
* NotSoInnocentWhistle:
Great Giving." While his water plan causes problems, he's legitimately just trying to muster up conserve the nerve to call Sharptooth's attention to her, she hums nervously under her breath.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Besides Spike, she arguably [[KiddieKid acts the most naive and childlike]] of the group, though the first film shows she is in fact slightly older than Cera and Littlefoot.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Petrie.
To give this context, it was a far safer job for her to do than it would have been for the other three, given she just needed to lead Sharptooth to a pool of
valley's water that she could swim in and he couldn't. supply.

* {{Scatting}}: Keeping in line with his muteness, he scat sings during musical numbers.
* SmarterThanYouLook: In one of the TV episodes, Spike's thoughts are revealed. He's actually quite observant, and secretly rolls his eyes whenever Littlefoot and Cera get into a pointless argument.
* TastesLikePurple: He can apparently "hear" songs from plants, and can even identify them based on their different tune. Given his unusually good smelling abilities shown through out the series, it's possible that Spike is demonstrating an olfactory form of synesthesia.

%%* DefiantToTheEnd: Was this throughout [[spoiler:the final battle.]]
* TheDreaded: When even baby dinosaurs know your name, you're this. The book mentions he'd been following the herds for some time, preying on stragglers and building a reputation. Also, when Littlefoot's mother intervenes, she orders Littlefoot to run. This is notable because baby animals usually stay near their
parents during such instances (such as Wildebeest and Bison), and the chances that Littlefoot could run into another hazard without her presence. It also indicates Littlefoot's mother knew she would likely lose the fight, and that no other hazard in the area was as dangerous as Sharptooth.

* {{Expy}}: Of the hunter from ''WesternAnimation/{{Bambi}}'' to a degree. Both kill the main character's mother in an attempt to kill the main character himself, enter the plot rather abruptly and out of nowhere, have little screen time, and are TheVoiceless.
* EyeAwaken: When Cera uses his seemingly dead body to practise headbutting, his eye snaps open and stares at her, revealing he's still alive. Note that this is the eye that was stabbed with a thorn and was supposed to have been blinded.(Alternatively, the injury may have simply caused his eyelids to swell to the extent he could only occasionally open his eye,
since he is also seen opening it towards the end of the movie.)
* EyeScream: Littlefoot accidentally stabs him in the eye with a thorn while trying to escape, supposedly blinding him in that eye. The illustrations in the book and original cut of the film showed it bleeding afterwards.
* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: Delivers one to Littlefoot's mother, and suffers one himself; trapped under a boulder by the protagonists and sent plummeting into a deep lake, whereupon he drowns.
* ForTheEvulz: Unlike most predators, he seems to kill other dinosaurs entirely because he ''wants'' to, not because he ''needs'' to.

* ImplacableMan: One of the most notable in western animation. Borders on slasher villain territory.
* InASingleBound: One of the things
that Grandma is not as strong as she was in their youth. Considering how capable both of them are shown to be, Grandma and Grandpa must have been ''fierce'' in their prime, just in case there was any doubt about where their daughter got it from.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: Grandpa Longneck is the sensitive to Topps' manly. He's a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant, quite nurturing toward his grandson, and much more polite and soft-spoken
makes him scarier than a real ''T. rex'' is that he can jump super high and far. This is how he killed Littlefoot's mother, and this is how he almost killed the tough, aggressive and short-tempered Topps.
* TheStoryteller: In
protagonists had they not pushed the TV series it's revealed that, boulder off in time.
* ItsPersonal: He hates Littlefoot because he accidentally blinded him on one of his eyes. He also hates Cera for headbutting him
when he was young, Grandpa Longneck was unconscious. It's heavily implied that THIS and his hatred are the reasons why he is going to such extremes to kill dinosaurs that would be of little food value to him. This goes both ways, as he killed Littlefoot's mother, and other members of his herd in the novelization.
* KillItWithWater: [[spoiler:Meets his end when the heroes use a rock to topple him into a lake. Due to having stubby arms, he can't swim and drowns.]]
* KingOfTheDinosaurs: It's a ''Tyrannosaurus rex'' and it's the [[TheDreaded most feared dinosaur]] in the land. Even Littlefoot's mother can barely fend him off (and she paid her life for it), and his primary prey are young dinosaurs who could do nothing but run [[spoiler:until Littlefoot comes up with a plan to drown the monster into a deep watery pit with a giant boulder]].
* KnightOfCerebus: ''Oh yes.'' The movie is initially
very reputable 'Story Speaker', a master light in its tone. Then he shows up and kills Littlefoot's mother. Anytime he does appear on screen for the rest of Longneck OralTradition storytelling.the movie the levity stops and the heartwarming atmosphere screeches to a abrupt halt. Part of what made the sequels LighterAndSofter is that they didn't have any villains nearly as dark as him.
* LightningBruiser: Ridiculously tough for a big Tyrannosaurus, but if pissed off enough, he lunges ''so incredibly fast'' he can't control that speed; he dives over and plows through everything, just barely missing the heroes. He can even leap to great heights and distances, soaring over Littlefoot's mother, and leaping from bottom to top of a very tall cliff in ''seconds''.
* MadeOfIron: His stamina and strength were ridiculous enough, but he survived falling into a deep trench without any actual injury and can smash large rocks with his head with no pain involved.

* {{Narcissist}}: The novel mentions that Sharptooth was extremely arrogant and vain, to the point where Cera headbutting him - which didn't hurt him in the slightest - pissed him off, and Littlefoot inadvertently stabbing his right eye with a thorn sparked a deep, intense grudge.
* NonMaliciousMonster: Definitely averted; one of the things that made Sharptooth so incredibly terrifying was that he didn't just kill for food, he also killed for ''pleasure'' and more often, because he was ticked off. However this is confirmed only in the novel. In the movie, vicious and scary as he is, he could be just a predator who is trying to not starve, thus following his survival instinct.
* NotQuiteDead: Is seemingly killed when he falls off a cliff fighting Littlefoot's mother. Cera finds out later on he survived and is ''ticked off!''
* PredatorsAreMean: An extremely brutal killing machine who is not even against eating children. In the book he's even worse as he also has a sadistic streak going beyond ordinary predators standards.
* PrehistoricMonster: While he can be interpreted as a very hungry predator, the Sharptooth is portrayed as an almost supernatural monster, able to survive things that would otherwise kill a real ''T. rex'' and performing impossible feats like leaping InASingleBound. The novelization takes it further by revealing that the [[ForTheEvulz Sharptooth kills for pleasure rather than for food]].
%%* VitriolicBestBuds: Grandpa RedEyesTakeWarning: Especially if you're a hatchling.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: In the book version, the reason he relentlessly pursues the protagonists is because when Littlefoot fled from him he sent a thorn flying into his right eye, half-blinding him. In most scenes of the film he has his right eye closed, which supports this.
%%* ScaryTeeth: His name should make it already clear.
* SerialKiller: What he's basically portrayed as in the novalization. As opposed to killing just because he needs to eat like most predators, he kills because he ''enjoys'' it.
* TheSociopath: A violent, sadistic, prideful monster that kills for sport. At least, this is how he's portrayed in the novel.
* SuperDrowningSkills: [[spoiler: Is killed by drowning. Justified: his little arms aren't exactly built for swimming. Also, it's hard to swim when a massive boulder was just dropped on your chest.]]
* SuperPersistentPredator: Is dead set on killing the group. Justifed as only a few other dinosaurs are seen during the film, so they may just be the only thing to eat. [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge He also wants revenge]] on Littlefoot for [[EyeScream injuring his right eye]]
and Topps.Cera for [[MinorInjuryOverreaction headbutting him when he was unconscious]].
* TakingYouWithMe: Bites down on Petrie's tail as he falls into the water, hinting that he is petty and vengeful as he is in the novel rather than merely predatory.
* UnstoppableRage: He's in a psychotic fury for every moment of screen time. And it is ''terrifying''.
* VileVillainSaccharineShow: For an innocent-looking movie about baby dinosaurs trying to find paradise, it can get quite intense whenever he's onscreen.
* TheVoiceless: Like almost every theropod in the series, he communicates solely with snarls, roars, growls and hisses.
* WouldHurtAChild: Most definitely, as he literally spends his entire onscreen time trying to kill the five main characters, who happen to be baby dinosaurs.
* YouKilledMyFather: Killed Littlefoot's mother.

An aggressive male Triceratops with deep seated prejudice against dinosaurs other than his own kind. He's Cera and Tricia's father, and Tria's husband. He lives in the Great Valley with the rest of his family.

----
* AngerBornOfWorry: In the third movie, he explains that he sometimes yells at Cera out of worry. He realizes that yelling at her does more harm than good.
* CharacterDevelopment: His disdain for other species is definitely toned down after the third film, in which he is saved by Grandpa Longneck and comes across a parent as bad as he is.
* CoveredInMud: In ''Great Day of the Flyers'', thanks to Guido.
In ''Secret of Saurus Rock'', he actually felt bad about upsetting Littlefoot by blaming Doc for their recent misfortune in the Great Valley, while also conceding that Doc seems to be a perfectly fine fellow but for seemingly being "bad luck."
* TheLancer: He's second in authority only to Grandpa in the Great Valley, sometimes sharing the role of leader.
* MeaningfulName: Like his daughter, his given name is likely derived from his genus name of Tricera'''tops'''.
* MisterDescriptor: He's one of the only parents of the gang who's first name has been revealed: Topps. However, no one ever calls him this save for his wife's AffectionateNickname of 'Topsy', and instead just refer to him by his species.
He believes in being tough (and sings a whole song about it), is very aggressive, and has a short temper, while Grandpa is a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant and more nurturing, polite and soft-spoken.
* VillainSong: Not really a villain, just an antagonist. "Standing Tough" could be considered this in the third film, given what he was doing at the time.
* WasTooHardOnHer: He realizes he had been this towards Cera after witnessing Hyp's father yell at his son.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He will do anything to protect his family, going to violent lengths. He especially fits this trope in "Time of the Great Giving." While his water plan causes problems, he's legitimately just trying to conserve the valley's water supply.

----
* ArtisticLicensePaleontology: He's based on an outdated portrayal of ''Scolosaurus'', having a horn on his nose and two spiky prongs on his small tail club. We now know the real animal was an Ankylosaurid mostly similar to ''Euoplocephalus'', with the exception of longer horns facing downwards.
* BigOlEyebrows: He has bony eyebrows that highlight his old age.
* CallBack: Possibly one in movie ten. Bron tells Littlefoot that he learned of his mother's death from a passing dinosaur not long after the Great Earthshake, and that this dinosaur also mentioned that Littlefoot survived. Given the timing, this dinosaur was likely Rooter.
* CoolOldGuy: While initially crotchety at Little Foot for disturbing his nap, the old dinosaur proves to be benevolent and wholesome in his interactions with the young sauropod.
* DoNotGoGentle: Rooter's biggest impact in the series is helping soften the blow of Mama Longneck's death-- both for Littlefoot and the younger audience-- by confirming to Littlefoot that his mother will always be with him, and that the pain he feels right now will lessen in time.
* GutturalGrowler: Speaks with a very coarse, gruff voice.
* InformedSpecies: As stated above, he looks ''nothing'' like a real ''Scolosaurus''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: When he first runs into the crying Littlefoot, he treats him with gruff indifference. When he realizes the boy has just lost his mother, he immediately softens and opts to help him as much as he can.

%%* DeadpanSnarker: Has her moments.
* GoodParents: Especially noticeable in "Stone of Cold Fire", where she makes sure to set a better example for her children than Pterano.
* MamaBear: Notice a pattern here? She flew through what was essentially a ''hurricane'' to find her missing son!
* OpenMindedParent: Especially noticeable in "The Great Day of the Fliers". She loves her son for who he is-- quirks and all-- and is supportive of him even when he doesn't seem to be doing well in his flying demonstrations.
* SiblingRivalry: Played with; she's set up to have something like this with Pterano, but she has enough faith in him to know that he won't let any harm come to Ducky. She still doesn't think too highly of him, though...
* StraightMan: Aside from Littlefoot's Grandparents, she's usually the most level-headed voice among the Valley's adults, and is less prone to wild accusations that tend to get thrown around whenever the Valley is facing a crisis.

[[folder:Sharptooth]]
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_sharptooth1_2097.jpg]]
!!!'''Appearances:''' original film
!!!'''Species:''' Sharptooth (''UsefulNotes/TyrannosaurusRex'')

A vicious, relentless Tyrannosaurus who acts as the primary antagonist of the first film. He's responsible for the death of Littlefoot's mother. [[spoiler: He's supposedly killed by Littlefoot and his friends after they drop a rock on him, knocking him into a deep water hole.]]

----
* AdaptationExpansion: In the movie it's unclear whether Sharptooth is a NonMaliciousMonster or not. The book shows some events from his perspective, and gives him an arrogant, vain, and vindictive personality on top of his predatory instincts.
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the movie, he's mostly portrayed as an instinctive force of nature, albeit with more personality than one might expect. The novelization, however, depicts him as being like a prehistoric SerialKiller. Interestingly, this can also be considered "Recursive Villainy", as what can be found in storyboards for deleted scenes shows that this personality for the character was going to be in the original film.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Is he a sadistic, vengeful murderer, or just a predator desperate for food? Throughout the movie, it remains up in the air. But that's only the movie incarnation; in regards to the novelization's [[AdaptationalVillainy version of him]], it's absolutely clear that yes, he's a downright evil monster who kills for the hell of it, and whose antagonism with the children is based purely on vindictive, narcissistic, psychopathic spite.
* ArchEnemy: To Littlefoot after he killed his mother. Even before that Sharptooth was already angry at him for having him blinded in one eye.
* AxCrazy: Is noticeably unhinged and needlessly violent even for a ''Tyrannosaurus''. In the novelization, this is even more evident as instead of a simple predator, he is a vengeful, spiteful and sadistic SerialKiller in the skin of a dinosaur.
* TheBerserker: His face is always locked in one single expression; pure, unadulterated, pissed-off rage.
* BigBad: His initial attack kicks off Littlefoot's story and he remains an ever-present threat to the gang for the rest of the film.
* CarnivoreConfusion: He is a ''T. rex'' hunting sentient baby dinosaurs.
* DeathGlare: Shoots Petrie a murderous glare after the pterosaur hits him with a pebble.
This is notable because baby animals usually stay near their parents during such instances (such as Wildebeest and Bison), and the chances that Littlefoot could run into another hazard without her presence. It also indicates Littlefoot's mother knew she would likely lose the fight, and that no other hazard in the area was as dangerous as Sharptooth.
* DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler: Falls off a cliff into a lake and drowns. However, unlike most, his is an intentional one on the part of the heroes, though given the situation, it's hard to blame them.]]
%%* EatenAlive: Possibly what he was doing to Littlefoot's mother during the fight.
Note that this is the eye that was stabbed with a thorn and was supposed to have been blinded.(Alternatively, the injury may have simply caused his eyelids to swell to the extent he could only occasionally open his eye, since he is also seen opening it towards the end of the movie.)
* HandicappedBadass: The novelization reveals he was blinded in his right eye when Littlefoot accidentally [[EyeScream stabbed it with a thorn]]. Despite this, he apparently is still capable of seeing things around him perfectly fine.
* TheHeavy: Most of the events in the first film would not have happened had it not been for him.
* HeroKiller: Sharptooth not only survives being bashed into cliffs and falling into a ravine, but mortally wounds Littlefoot's mother - who, granted, puts up one heck of a fight - and almost kills the main group several times.
* ImplacableMan: One of the most notable in western animation. Borders on slasher villain territory.
* InASingleBound: One of the things that makes him scarier than a real ''T. rex'' is that he can jump super high and far. This is how he killed Littlefoot's mother, and this is how he almost killed the protagonists had they not pushed the boulder off in time.
* ItsPersonal: He hates Littlefoot because he accidentally blinded him on one of his eyes. He also hates Cera for headbutting him when he was unconscious.
* KnightOfCerebus: ''Oh yes.'' The movie is initially very light in its tone. Then he shows up and kills Littlefoot's mother. Anytime he does appear on screen for the rest of the movie the levity stops and the heartwarming atmosphere screeches to a abrupt halt.
%%* RedEyesTakeWarning: Especially if you're a hatchling.
[[RoaringRampageOfRevenge He also wants revenge]] on Littlefoot for [[EyeScream injuring his right eye]] and Cera for [[MinorInjuryOverreaction headbutting him when he was unconscious]].
* YouKilledMyFather: Killed Littlefoot's mother.

* ThinkOfTheChildren: In her earlier appearances, Mama Swimmer tended to be this. She seems to give some thought to Mr. Threehorn's claim that, Littlefoot is a bad influence in "Time of the Great Giving" as she calls Ducky and Spike away from him. Later on, she takes a more complex approach to this trope when she truly considers whether Spike would be happier with his own kind rather than with her in "The Big Freeze".

with his Grandparents and best friends.

* AlmostDeadGuy: After being badly wounded, she lives long enough to remind Littlefoot of what he must do to reach the Great Valley.
%%* BigGood: Of the first movie.
%%* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Probably the most famous example after {{WesternAnimation/Bambi}}'s mother.
* {{Determinator}}: Even when she's bleeding out from the wounds Sharptooth inflicted on her she still musters up the strength to save Littlefoot and Cera from falling into a fissure along with Sharptooth.
* DiedHappilyEverAfter: Potentially why her spirit never spoke to or appeared before Littlefoot again after helping him finally find the Great Valley. Her son was now in a land where he could grow up safe and not starve and was back in the care of her own parents whom she knew would care for and raise him well. Ultimately she could rest in peace now that had achieved everything she wanted for her child. However, she does make an "appearance" in the fifth movie as a star that twinkles brighter than the others, reassuring Littlefoot that she's always watching over him.
What's more, there actually was film footage made depicting more of the fight between her and Sharptooth. Considering Don Bluth had this footage '''burned''', it's safe to say that her death was decidedly non-G-rated. Going by the footage of the shadow, Sharptooth wasn't just biting chunks of flesh from her back, [[EatenAlive he was eating them]]!
* FantasticRacism: It's subtle compared to Cera and Topsy's prejudice. But when Littlefoot asks his mother why he isn't allowed to play with Cera, she merely tells him that different dinosaur species never do anything together and that, ''"It's always been that way."'' She herself does not appear to question it or view it as a bad thing, and she reassures Littlefoot that when they reach the Great Valley, he'll have other longnecks to play with instead. That said, she means no malice toward other dinosaur species either, and rescues both Littlefoot and Cera without hesitation.
* HeroicSacrifice: It's obvious that she ultimately sacrifices her life to save her son.
* MamaBear: Oh yes. She protects her son by fighting off a bloodthirsty Sharptooth ''while an earthquake is tearing apart the land around her''. Even more so in the novel where it's revealed Sharptooth slaughtered the rest of her herd, meaning she knew exactly how dangerous he was.
* NoNameGiven: Her name has never been revealed, nor have her parents said it.
* SacrificialLion: Dies protecting Littlefoot from Sharptooth; whatever chance she had to survive was destroyed by the earthquake that followed.

* AlmostDeadGuy: AwesomeMcCoolName: Or at least, it [[WhatCouldHaveBeen would have been]] if they had gone with the original name for the character: ''Thunder''foot. InUniverse, his name actually comes from Mama Longneck naming him after Bron's childhood nickname of "little foot".
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** Qualifies as this in the first movie.
After dealing with Cera's attitude for a while and then [[RageBreakingPoint her remark about his mother being badly wounded, she lives long enough to remind stupid]], Littlefoot snaps at her to take it back, resulting in a fight.
** He's also the one who decided that Sharptooth needed to die, and was perfectly willing to use Ducky as live bait to make it happen.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He displays a protective streak towards Ducky ever since she brings him out
of what the deep depression he must do was in after his mother's death in the first film, and he displays a similar instinct towards Chomper from the very moment he hatches, even going as far as protecting him from his other friends at times.
* ComfortingComforter: He tucks Ducky under Spike’s tail during the final verse of "Always There" in ''The Mysterious Island'' shortly before going
to reach sleep himself.
* DemotedToExtra: Downplayed. In the TV series, he's still a main character, though the amount of episodes focusing primarily on him can be counted on one hand.
* DisappearedDad: Played straight until ''The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration''.
* TheHeart: Along with Ducky. Excluding the few times he ditches his friends (or vice versa), he always acts as the primary force to hold them together.
* TheHero: The main character and protagonist of the series, being TheLeader of the gang and having the most character focus.
* DisapprovingLook: Gives this to Cera in "The Great Day of the Flyers" when she seemed reluctant in rescuing Guido from the Mysterious Beyond.
* HerosJourney: At the beginning of the first movie, Littlefoot is a friendless, naïve child who's very much dependent on his mother to survive. By the end, he's become a strong, wise leader with more friends than he could have ever dreamed of.
* HeroicBSOD: After his mother dies, Littlefoot goes into a deeply depressed state. He refuses food when it's offered to him and seems to lose much of his will to find
the Great Valley.Valley. He only comes out of it after meeting Ducky.
* HeroWorshipper: For Doc in the sixth film. He spends a good chunk of the movie following him around and is more than enthusiastic about Doc saving his life multiple times. However, he redirects his hero worship to his grandfather.
* HowDareYouDieOnMe: While talking with Rooter, Littlefoot tearfully says his mother should have known better than to fight the sharptooth. This is likely just a statement out of intense grief, as her death leaves him completely alone in the world.
* IneffectualLoner: In both ''The Secret of Saurus Rock'' and ''Journey of the Brave'', Littlefoot's attempts to ditch his friends and continue on his own very quickly land him in trouble. It is clear he needs his friends just as much as they need him.
* ItsPersonal: Not outright stated, but when the opportunity to kill Sharptooth appears, Littlefoot is the first to take it, and he immediately works out a plan for him and the others to bring Sharptooth down. Less so in the original ending - where he discovered the Great Valley and then went back to rescue the others - where it was more to prevent Sharptooth from following them into the Great Valley.
* JerkassBall: In ''Journey of the Brave'', during an argument with Cera, Littlefoot tears into not only her but the rest of his friends sans Chomper and Ruby (and that's only because the latter two were with a different group) by accusing ''all'' of them of holding him back in rescuing his dad.
* TheLeader: Is always ultimately the one who leads the gang in their various adventures and one who plans their schemes in creating solutions for whatever problem or antagonist is plaguing the Great Valley and/or its denizens.
* NervesOfSteel: If something's going wrong, Littlefoot's generally the one who keeps his head together.
* NiceGuy: He is friendly, brave, selfless, compassionate, and forgiving. Along with Ducky, he is easily the kindest and most levelheaded of the main cast.
* OnlySaneMan: Usually. He is the one to most often suggest the most optimal solution (or any solution at all) to whatever predicament the gang find themselves in.
* RaisedByGrandparents: After Littlefoot's mom dies, his maternal grandparents have assumed guardianship of him to this day, due to his decision not to live with his dad.
* RedIsHeroic: His eyes are a shade of reddish brown that varies anywhere from mahogany to maroon between movies.
* RedOniBlueOni: The calm, reasonable Blue to the hot-headed Cera's Red.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Frequently breaks the rules in order to fix a problem that the adults won't.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: After Cera insults his mother and then adds injury to insult by soundly defeating him in a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown, Littlefoot is ''not'' happy when the others say they would rather go with Cera since her way is "easier."
* SiblingsWanted:
** In the ninth film, Littlefoot laments that he has no brothers or sisters to play with. One movie later, he gets an adopted brother: Shorty.
** Chomper might technically be called his 'godbrother', considering he oversaw his birth.
** Mo and Littlefoot declare themselves [[BloodBrothers 'Mud Brothers']].
* StreetUrchin: The dour conditions of Littlefoot's first years of life are a clear metaphor for being born into poverty, and when he loses his mother, he perfectly fits the description of a desperate street orphan.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Given what the original Sharptooth did to him, his friends, and his family, Littlefoot has plenty of reasons to fear and hate the newly hatched Chomper for what he is. However, he refuses to forsake a newborn child for what the rest of his kind has done, and is the most vocal proponent in the group to caring after him.

%%* BigGood: Of the first movie.
%%* DeceasedParentsAreTheBest: Probably the most famous example after {{WesternAnimation/Bambi}}'s mother.
* {{Determinator}}: Even when she's bleeding out from the wounds Sharptooth inflicted on her she still musters up the strength to save Littlefoot and Cera from falling into TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Inverted: a fissure along with Sharptooth.
* DiedHappilyEverAfter: Potentially why her spirit never spoke to or appeared before Littlefoot again after helping him finally find the Great Valley. Her son was now in a land where he could grow up safe and not starve and was back in the care
notable part of her own parents whom she knew would care for and raise him well. Ultimately she could rest in peace now that had achieved everything she wanted for her child. However, she does make an "appearance" in the fifth movie as a star that twinkles brighter than the others, reassuring Littlefoot that she's always watching over him.
But when Littlefoot asks
Littlefoot’s design is his mother why he isn't allowed to play with Cera, she merely tells him that different dinosaur species never do anything together and that, ''"It's always been that way."'' She herself does not appear to question it or view it as long, feminine eyelashes, despite being a bad thing, and she reassures Littlefoot that when they reach the Great Valley, he'll have other longnecks to play with instead. That said, she means no malice toward other dinosaur species either, and rescues both Littlefoot and Cera without hesitation.
* HeroicSacrifice: It's obvious that she ultimately sacrifices her life to save her son.
boy.
* MamaBear: Oh yes. She protects her son by fighting TrademarkFavoriteFood: [[MemeticMutation Mutha fuckin' treestars, bitch!]]
* UndyingLoyalty: He will ''never'' abandon his friends and family.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Has this dynamic with Cera from day one. They get into at least one disagreement/fight per film.
* WhatTheHellHero: In ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'', Littlefoot accidentally knocks all of the fruit
off of a bloodthirsty Sharptooth ''while an earthquake special tree that no one is tearing apart to eat from until everyone is there to share it. He proceeds to lay the land around her''. Even more so in blame on the novel where it's revealed Sharptooth slaughtered innocent Tinysauruses, and the rest of her herd, meaning she knew exactly how dangerous he was.
* NoNameGiven: Her name has never been revealed, nor have her parents said it.
* SacrificialLion: Dies protecting
the Valley inhabitants try to chase away and destroy the innocent micro-dinos. When Littlefoot from Sharptooth; whatever chance she had admits he lied, ''everyone'' gives him a disbelieving reaction.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: Played fairly realistically. While he's still clearly a kid at heart and prone
to survive was destroyed by making mistakes, his values, beliefs, and sense of duty are very advanced for his age.
* WouldHitAGirl: To be fair,
the earthquake that followed.girl in question ''can shatter rocks with her head''.

* RetiredBadass: Implied in the fourth movie when Grandpa expresses concern that Grandma is not as strong as she was in their youth. The original five, as her name is the only reason they aren't a bigger help is one that they have to deal with sounds like a modern human name (pronounced like "Sarah"). ** Towards her baby sister Tricia, as well as her friends.
Not only to Littlefoot, do they accept her into the group and let her travel with them after she meets Sharptooth, but they give her some of the "green food" they got off a tree when she's unable to get some down herself; they cuddle with her at night so she wouldn't be cold and alone, and finally they save her from the pack of Pachycephalosauruses that were also this about to their daughter.

While she's perfectly correct that the idea is
very kind dangerous, when asked if she has any other ideas, she has no choice but to reluctantly fall in line.
* DaddysGirl: She is close to her father, which makes sense because of her mother's disappearance. Her relationship with him is part of the reason why she's so stubborn
and loving to each other.
tomboyish.
* MamaBear[=/=]PapaWolf: They are both quite protective of their grandson DeadpanSnarker: A big one in the sequels and will fight off dangerous predators TV show. Provides a lot of the funnier lines in the series as a result.
* DirtyCoward: In the first film. Brags about how brave she is when there's no enemy around
to keep him safe.prove her mettle, and even headbutts targets she doesn't think can/will hit back (her sisters and parents when she's born, insects, frogs, what seems to be a dead Sharptooth...), but the second she's faced with something that can harm her (lightning, a very much alive Sharptooth...) she runs screaming.
* NiceGuy: Both of them are FantasticRacism: She starts out being very kind-hearted.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Mama Longneck was their daughter. Their own grief over her loss is almost never touched on, but there is
prejudiced against any dinosaur that isn't a moment three-horn in the second movie where they tell Littlefoot first film. [[DefrostingIceQueen She mellows pretty fast, though.]]
* FantasticSlur: In the first film. And unlike Petrie, she's ''not'' an InnocentBigot.
-->'''Cera:''' My father told me
that he is ''flatheads'' had very small brains.
* GreenEyedMonster: Cera seems to get extremely jealous when an outside character hogs
all they have.
* ParentalSubstitute: They've acted as
of Littlefoot's parents since attention.
* HumiliationConga: Suffers one in
the first film.
* RetiredBadass: Implied
film after going the wrong way. All of this, along with the knowledge that she'd been in the fourth wrong the whole time, causes her to break down into tears the second she's alone.
* LaserGuidedKarma: The receiving end of this in the first
movie when Grandpa expresses concern that Grandma is not as strong as she was in their youth. Considering how capable suffers through a HumiliationConga.
* MeaningfulName: Derived from her genus name of Tri'''cera'''tops.

* TheStoryteller: MyGodWhatHaveIDone:
**
In the TV series it's revealed first film after she refuses to follow Littlefoot and leads the other dinosaurs down a different path, which nearly gets them killed, and she narrowly escapes death herself from a pack of predators. She is only saved by the timely intervention of her friends, who disguise themselves in tar to scare off the predators, and they even [[HumiliationConga use the opportunity to prank her]]. The combination of that, when he was young, Grandpa Longneck was very reputable 'Story Speaker', a master the realization she'd been wrong all along, and even implied guilt over earlier insulting Littlefoot's mother and being ashamed of Longneck OralTradition storytelling.her own fear, causes her to skulk off on her own before she breaks down into sobbing.

* VitriolicBestBuds: Grandpa With Littlefoot from day one. Even after she puts their [[FantasticRacism difference]] aside, they still get into arguments quite frequently.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Cera doesn't do too well when it comes to cliffs, chasms,
and Topps.anything involving crossing them. Unfortunately, they face this dilemma at least once a movie.

[[FridgeHorror The absence of his wife and all of his children besides Cera from the second film onward may also explain it]].
In ''Secret of Saurus Rock'', he actually felt bad about upsetting Littlefoot by blaming Doc for their recent misfortune in the Great Valley.
He believes in being tough (and sings a whole song about it), is very aggressive, and has a short temper, while Grandpa is a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant and more nurturing, polite and soft-spoken.
He especially fits this trope in "Time of the Great Giving." While his water plan causes problems, he's legitimately just trying to conserve the valley's water supply.

to:

* AngerBornOfWorry: In ActionGirl: Her attempt to bait the third movie, he explains that he sometimes yells at Cera out of worry. He realizes that yelling at sharptooth in the original definitely counts as this.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Is the main character in ''The Big Freeze'', which heavily revolves around
her does more harm than good.family dynamic with Spike.

* CharacterDevelopment: His disdain for other species CatchPhrase: "Yep yep yep!" Sometimes modified to "Nope nope nope."
* CheerfulChild: Ducky
is definitely toned down after the third film, in which he is saved by Grandpa Longneck and comes across a parent as bad as he is.
* CoveredInMud: In ''Great Day of the Flyers'', thanks to Guido.
[[FridgeHorror The absence of his wife and all of his children besides Cera from the second film onward may also explain it]].
* GrumpyBear: Is perpetually in a bad mood. Even his daughter states he's
almost always mad.
* HeroAntagonist: While the bullies are the main antagonists to the children
happy and the drought is the major threat to the Great Valley in ''Time of the Great Giving'', he begins causing problems all on his own when he takes charge of the dinosaurs' limited water supply.
In ''Secret of Saurus Rock'', he actually felt bad about upsetting Littlefoot by blaming Doc for their recent misfortune in the Great Valley.
He believes in being tough (and sings a whole song about it), is
very aggressive, and has a short temper, while Grandpa is a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant and more nurturing, polite and soft-spoken.
* {{Troll}}: While he shows admirable acceptance by not treating Chomper like a threat, he still has no qualms telling him blatantly untrue stories just to get a kick of how scared he can make him, nor has any problems openly mocking him for his tiny arms when he knows he's self-conscious about them.
excitable.
* VillainSong: Not really a villain, just an antagonist. "Standing Tough" could TheChick: Ducky is the more girly of the groups females, in contrast to Cera's tomboyishness.
* CuddleBug: Ducky tends to
be considered pretty liberal on initiating physical contact with people, and often grabs their hand, tail, appendage, or even pull them into a hug without any warning. The usual recipient of this in the third film, given what he was doing at the time.is Spike, but she's also done it to Littlefoot, Petrie, and Chomper.
* WasTooHardOnHer: He realizes he had been TheCutie: Her pep, positivity, and friendliness makes her this towards Cera after witnessing Hyp's father yell at his son.
out of the original five, and she still shares the role nowadays with Chomper.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He will do anything to protect his family, going to violent lengths. He especially DamselInDistress: Frequently fits this trope role. The most notable instance is in "Time ''The Stone of Cold Fire'', where she is taken hostage by Pterano to ensure no one interferes with his search for the titular stone.
* DisappearedDad: Her father appears in the first installment but vanishes in the sequels. Granted, this ''might'' be due to what happened to Judith Barsi at the hands of her father...
* TheHeart: Along with Littlefoot.
* NiceGirl: The nicest
of the Great Giving." gang along with Littlefoot, Chomper, and Ruby.
* NotSoInnocentWhistle:
While his water plan causes problems, he's legitimately just trying to conserve muster up the valley's nerve to call Sharptooth's attention to her, she hums nervously under her breath.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Besides Spike, she arguably [[KiddieKid acts the most naive and childlike]] of the group, though the first film shows she is in fact slightly older than Cera and Littlefoot.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Petrie.
To give this context, it was a far safer job for her to do than it would have been for the other three, given she just needed to lead Sharptooth to a pool of
water supply.that she could swim in and he couldn't.

A panic-prone male pterosaur. He's one of the main characters throughout the series. He lives in the Great Valley with his mother and siblings. He has gone through a VocalEvolution in the sequels.

* BigOlEyebrows: Bony ones, at that, they highlight his old age.
When he realizes the boy has just lost his mother, he immediately softens and opts to help him as much as he can.

to:

* ArtisticLicensePaleontology: AcrophobicBird: Grows out of it by the end of the first movie, for the most part.
* BigDamnHeroes: In "Great Day of the Flyers", he saves Guido right when he's about to get chomped by a ''Spinosaurus''.
* BrutalHonesty: Briefly, in "The Big Freeze":
-->'''Littlefoot:''' You believe me, don't you Petrie?\\
'''Petrie:''' Oh sure! [[SuperGullible But then me believe anything.]]
* ButtMonkey: Bad things tend to happen to him a lot in the series. Things like crashing into obstacles while flying, getting scared, or getting accidentally sat on by Spike tend to be PlayedForLaughs. Other things, like his clumsiness getting him bullied by his siblings or the various misfortunes that come with his idolization of his uncle, are usually presented more seriously.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Has a pretty vivid imagination.
* CowardlyLion:
He's based on an outdated portrayal of ''Scolosaurus'', having a horn on his nose and two spiky prongs on his small tail club. We now know the real animal was an Ankylosaurid mostly similar timid, but can become very brave when the situation calls for it.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Typically overcomes his fears during life-or-death situations, only
to ''Euoplocephalus'', immediately react in horror afterwards that he ever did something so dangerous.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He is the main character of ''The Stone of Cold Fire'' and ''The Great Day of the Flyers''. Also is this in the episode “The Hermit of Black Rock”.
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: When Petrie finally learns to fly, he celebrates by throwing rocks and laughing at the murderous sharptooth at the bottom of the ravine. [[spoiler: This cockiness very nearly ends in tragedy when the sharptooth tries to pull him down with him.]]
* DisappearedDad: His father is never seen, and we only ever see his mother and his many, [[AmazingTechnicolorWildlife multicolored]] siblings. Heck, unlike Cera and Ducky's unseen parents, he's not even seen in the original!
** In [[HilariousInHindsight hindsight]] this actually makes sense; recent evidence suggests that male ''Pteranodon'' had little to no involvement

their young. Of course, [[ScienceMarchesOn neither did the females]] but it still justifies the scenario a bit.
* BigOlEyebrows: Bony ones, at that, DisneyDeath: [[spoiler:He nearly dies when they highlight kill Sharptooth, but he ends up ok.]]
* EasilyImpressed: Probably the easiest member of the group to dazzle. This especially shows in ''The Stone of Cold Fire'' where we see him being utterly enthralled by
his old age.
* CallBack: Possibly one in movie ten. Bron tells Littlefoot that he learned of his mother's death from a passing dinosaur not long after
uncle's tall tales. In the Great Earthshake, and that this dinosaur also mentioned that Littlefoot survived. Given the timing, this dinosaur TV episode "The Brave Longneck Scheme", Petrie was likely Rooter.
* CoolOldGuy: While initially crotchety at Little Foot for disturbing his nap, the old dinosaur proves
very eager to be benevolent and wholesome in his interactions with the young sauropod.
* DoNotGoGentle: Rooter's biggest impact in the series is helping soften the blow of Mama Longneck's death-- both for
meet Rhett when Littlefoot and Cera explain the younger audience-- by confirming made-up stories he told them and Ali.
* HeroWorshipper: Idolizes his uncle and takes everything he says as absolute fact. Unfortunately, [[EvilUncle his uncle isn't the best of role models]].
* {{Hypocrite}}: In ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'', he tells off Ducky for chewing Littlefoot out when he was just as guilty about it as she and Spike are. He gets [[HypocrisyNod called out for it]], leading to a JerkassRealization (on all three sides).

agreement]])''
* GutturalGrowler: Speaks with a very coarse, gruff voice.
* InformedSpecies: As stated above, he looks ''nothing'' like a real ''Scolosaurus''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold:
InnocentBigot: When he Petrie first meets him, he refers to Littlefoot as a 'flathead'. Given Littlefoot's reaction to this term, Petrie's lack of racist tendencies, and the fact that Petrie stops using this term soon after it's introduced, he may have unknowingly been using a racial slur that he innocently picked up from somewhere else.
* TheKlutz: A major factor in in his status as the ButtMonkey of the group. In particular he often
runs into things when he's not watching where he's flying.
* NervousWreck: This LovableCoward is infamously known for frequent panic attacks.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Ducky.
* PluckyComicRelief: The official website refers to him as "the clown of
the crying Littlefoot, group". Occasionally he treats even plays jokes on his friends, like triggering Cera's fear of heights as she crosses a log in ''Mysterious Island'' by flying in front of her face and forcing her to look down. However, most of the time he's the subject of jokes and misfortune rather than the giver.
* PteroSoarer: The original movie tried to avoid this; while he was still outdated by modern standards the animators gave
him with gruff indifference. When he realizes features in accordance to then new theories, like having him walk on all fours and not mentioning his diet. Unfortunately, the boy has just lost sequels throws all of those features into the trash bin.
* TheSmartGuy: Though not so much because he's the most intelligent as he is the most cautious.
* SuperGullible: He pretty much says word for word that'll he'll believe anything.
* ThirdPersonPerson: His character shtick is to quote himself in third person when talking. He also tends to say “me” in place of “I” starting in the sequels.
* TokenFlyer: The only member of the gang that can fly.
* ToothyBird: While some pterosaurs ''do'' have teeth, ''Pteranodon'' (Toothless Wing) aren't among them.
* TheUnfavorite: Petrie is well loved by
his mother, he immediately softens but is often the target of the ire of his other siblings, particularly in ''Great Day of the Flyers'' where Petrie's inability to fly in formation causes all of his brothers and opts sisters to help crash.
* ThoseTwoGuys: With Ducky, with whom he interacts with the most (likely due to both being the smallest of the gang).
* VegetarianCarnivore: Petrie is a Pteranodon, which are known to dine on fish. Yet, he and other "fliers" are shown eating plants and there's no explanation as to why. This is only in the sequels, though-- the first movie never shows
him eating.
* VocalEvolution: His voice has become ''much'' higher and squeakier
as much the sequels have progressed.
* YouNoTakeCandle: He rarely uses the pronoun ‘I’ and instead prefers ‘Me’. He also usually uses ‘No’ in place of ‘Don’t’, and instead of using verbs in the present progressive tense he’ll use the infinitive, such
as he can.saying ‘Petrie need help’ instead of ‘Petrie needs help’.

* PinkGirlBlueBoy: She and her husband have this color scheme in the finale of the first film. She's given a more realistic green color from the second film onward.
Later on, she takes a more complex approach to this trope when she truly considers whether Spike would be happier with his own kind rather than with her in "The Big Freeze".

to:

* ADayInTheLimelight: Got some AbsenteeActor: He doesn't appear in the final episode of the TV series.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: He can be a funny guy, but he does get serious when he needs to. In ''Journey Through the Mists'', he knocked Icky into Dil’s mouth when he called his friends "diet delights."
* BigBrotherInstinct: A unique case of a younger sibling having this. He is ''very'' protective of Ducky. When Ducky is kidnapped in ''The Stone of Cold Fire'', he is the most driven and first to run off to rescue her.
* BigEater: This and his speechlessness being his signature traits.
* TheBigGuy: The largest of the gang, and also the strongest whenever they engage in
more attention laborious tasks.
* BigLittleBrother: To Ducky, although it's justified because they're different species. Ironically, she'll probably be taller than him when they grow up.
* DumbMuscle: In the first film, due to Cera's attitude and the others' small height, Littlefoot usually ends up directing him to help with most physical tasks.
* ElectiveMute: He ''can'' talk--he just doesn't want to most of the time.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Moments after hatching, he eats the tall grass that was surrounding his egg, instantly showing that he has a big appetite.
* EvenTheDogIsAshamed: Well, not quite dog-like or even a pet, but these still count.
** This is his reaction to Littlefoot and Cera's fight in the first film.
** In ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'', he is just as angry at Littlefoot as the rest of his friends are for lying to them about the Tinysauruses destroying the tree-sweet tree. Afterwards, he agrees with Ducky when she [[HypocrisyNod calls out Petrie on his hypocrisy]] in scolding them for being mad at Littlefoot, that he soon regrets as the others (making this a case where even the dog/dinosaur is ashamed ''of himself'').
** In "The Amazing Threehorn Girl", he is just as upset with Cera as everyone else is after she confesses that she [[FakeUltimateHero lied about saving the Great Valley from the Belly Draggers]], sadly walking out on her.
** He shows his disapproval for Shorty's poor leadership skills like the Gang sans Littlefoot
in "The Big Freeze".

* MamaBear: Won't stand

* GodGuise: In the TV episode "Stranger From the Mysterious Above",

* MellowFellow: He's the least energetic and most laid back of the gang, often outright ignoring anything around him that would distract him from his favorite activities of eating and relaxing. He himself seems to wish his friends exhibited this trope more often instead of always running off to go on dangerous adventures.
* NotSoStoic: In ''Invasion of the Tinysauruses'', he breaks down in OcularGushers along with
Ducky and Spike away from him. Later on, she takes a more complex approach Petrie over [[TearsOfRemorse remorse]] for dismissing Littlefoot in anger.
* ObliviousAdoption: Deals with issues related
to this trope when she truly considers whether in ''The Big Freeze''.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness:
Spike would is an elective mute: he ''can'' talk, but chooses not to, even when it's very inconvenient. The only times he's ever seen speaking are in life-or-death situations.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: He is born in the middle of the film while the rest of the gang have grown up to
be happier kids, but grows to their age in a matter of seconds.
* ReluctantHero: He apparently isn't enthusiastic about his friend's frequent adventures outside the Great Valley, and wishes his friends could be more content with staying home and eating. He nevertheless is loyal to them no matter what decision they all decide to make
* {{Scatting}}: Keeping in line
with his own kind rather than with her muteness, he scat sings during musical numbers.
* TheVoiceless: Except for ''two'' instances where he yells Ducky's name when she's
in "The Big Freeze".danger, and when he yells "Mama!" as he nearly drowns in a lake.
** Later revealed that he can talk but simply chooses not to.
** And, when he does "speak", it's usually [[TheUnintelligible unintelligible mumbling]]. Interestingly enough, in one episode of the series, it's shown that his thoughts are quite sophisticated.
** In several of the songs, however, he can be clearly seen and heard humming and hilariously enough, scat-singing at a few points.
* YoungerThanHeLooks: Despite being the largest, he is actually the youngest of the original five due to not being born until halfway through the first movie.

Ultimately she could rest in peace now that had achieved everything she wanted for her child.

Added DiffLines:

* AdultsAreUseless: Averted. They are the most level-headed, intelligent characters in the entire series. The only reason they aren't a bigger help is that they have to deal with the rest of the adults.
* BigGood: Of the sequels.
* CoolOldGuy: Grandpa Longneck can hold his own against a Sharptooth. Not bad for an old dinosaur.
* CoolOldLady: Grandma Longneck has been shown to take on a Sharptooth as well.
* GoodParents: Not only to Littlefoot, but they were also this to their daughter.
* HappilyMarried: They're very kind and loving to each other.
* MamaBear[=/=]PapaWolf: They are both quite protective of their grandson and will fight off dangerous predators to keep him safe.
* NiceGuy: Both of them are very kind-hearted.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: Mama Longneck was their daughter. Their own grief over her loss is almost never touched on, but there is a moment in the second movie where they tell Littlefoot that he is all they have.
* ParentalSubstitute: They've acted as Littlefoot's parents since the first film.
* RetiredBadass: Implied in the fourth movie when Grandpa expresses concern that Grandma is not as strong as she was in their youth.
He's a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant, quite nurturing toward his grandson, and much more polite and soft-spoken than the tough, aggressive and short-tempered Topps.
* TheStoryteller: In the TV series it's revealed that, when he was young, Grandpa Longneck was very reputable 'Story Speaker', a master of Longneck OralTradition storytelling.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Grandpa and Topps.

!!!'''Species:''' Three-horn (''Triceratops'')
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Burke Byrnes (original film) | John Ingle (''II'' to TV series) | George Ball (''XIV'')

[[FridgeHorror The absence of his wife and all of his children besides Cera from the second film onward may also explain it]].
* GrumpyBear: Is perpetually in a bad mood.
In ''Secret of Saurus Rock'', he actually felt bad about upsetting Littlefoot by blaming Doc for their recent misfortune in the Great Valley.
He believes in being tough (and sings a whole song about it), is very aggressive, and has a short temper, while Grandpa is a NiceGuy, a GentleGiant and more nurturing, polite and soft-spoken.

* BigOlEyebrows: Bony ones, at that, they highlight his old age.

* PinkGirlBlueBoy: She and her husband have this color scheme in the finale of the first film. She's given a more realistic green color from the second film onward.
