** With Goenitz's return in ''XV'', he also gets a special Boss Challenge version of himself much like Omega Rugal before him. This version of Goenitz has the [[SarcasmMode lovely]] ability to summon two consecutive Yonokazes one after the other, the ability to cancel his [[ThreeStrikeCombo rekka string]] into his teleport special move, a buffed EX version of his teleport that allows him to instantly warp right behind the opponent's head, and a CPU-only SDM in the form of his Ibuki Nagayo [=MAX2=] from ''2002UM'', complete with its ability to vacuum you in close to him. If you're anywhere midscreen when he does this move, you can't do anything except watch as your character is helplessly sucked into Goenitz's gigantic wind vortex and their lifebar is ripped in half.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: In her [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG6jUFGdtXQ Awakening Blood Neo MAX]] from ''XIII'', Mature briefly takes off her eyepatch. Her eye turns red as she unleashes a crapload of Orochi power in a method similar to [[VideoGame/GuiltyGear Sol Badguy's]] All Guns Blazing). It is ''[[JustForPun dead]]'' sexy.

-> The '''[[JustForPun Big]]''' [[BigBad Bad]] of the first ''VideoGame/ArtOfFighting'' game, he is invited by Geese Howard to join him and Wolfgang Krauser in the ''[='96=]'' tournament. He used to be the head of Southtown's underworld until Geese displaced him and made him second-in-command, and it was under Geese's orders that he kidnapped Yuri Sakazaki and kickstarted the events of ''AOF''. As revealed in ''XIV'', he still wants Geese's blood for being used by him in the '96 tournament. Until that time, however, it's assumed he's currently living the good life with his ladies and henchmen.

* BoobsOfSteel: Much more prominent in later games where she ditches her jacket for a tanktop.

* BoobsOfSteel: She has among the bigger boobs in the cast (bigger than her partner Mature), and her fighting style mainly smashes her foes around.

* MultiSlotCbaracter: Early on, her Orochi form was treated as her own character, while later games make [[CompositeCharacter incorporate her Orochi form into her regular forms' attacks]].

* EvilCounterpart: Similar to the other three Heavenly Kings, he has a "dark" version of one of the main characters' fighting styles and one or two of their signature techniques. In Goenitz's case, he's well-known for his "true" versions of several of Iori's techniques, mainly being the [[ThreeStrikeCombo Aoihana (Hollyhock Flower; Goenitz's version is named Seiran/Holy Riot)]], Kototsuki (Harp Moon) and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown Ya Otome (Eight Maidens)]]. It's never elaborated upon, but it's implied many of the Yagami Clan techniques originated from Goenitz's predecessor at the time following their betrayal. This comparison is furthered when he returns in ''XV'', as he gains access to a new move that is a "true" version of Iori's Shiki Tsumakushi.

* GreaterScopeVillain: He is this of the first two King of Fighters games as Goenitz is responsible for many things, such as killing leona’s parents, murdering Chizuru’s older twin sister, giving Rugal a piece of Orochi’s power and setting Rugal up as a candidate for Orochi’s return.
** On a larger scale, Goenitz might be this for the whole series, since many important character backstories and events happened because of him and had repercussions in the future. None of the events in the NESTS Chronicles, the Tales of Ash and the New Age Saga would have happened at all if not for Goenitz actions in the first place. Due to this, many consider him the central antagonist of the KOF lore.

-> In the King of Fighters timeline Geese is alive and well. He was also interested in the new version of the King of Fighters tournament that Rugal is hosting, Geese sends Billy in ''[='95=]'' to form the Rival Team and enact revenge upon the Bogard Bros. He resurfaced in ''[='96=]'', entering the King of Fighters tournament along with his half-brother Krauser and Mr. Big to learn more about the Orochi's power. Mr. Big, learning he was being used, attempted to assassinate Geese, but Billy arrived just in time to stop the sniper's bullet aimed at Geese's head. In ''[='97=]'' he chose Billy, Yamazaki, and Blue Mary to go and investigate the Orochi power further. Later that same year, In ''2003'' he sponsors the Outlaw Team consisting of Yamazaki and Billy once again, as well as Gato. In ''XIV'' he once again participates in the King of Fighters tournament, along with Billy and his butler Hein. He is set to once again appear in ''XV'', once again fighting alongside Billy and now also joined by Yamazaki.

However, this would prove to not be the end for him, as Goenitz was one of the many souls trapped inside of the strange entity known as Verse that were released upon its destruction in ''XIV''. Sure enough, ''XV'' confirms that he is alive and well, having established contact with his fellow acolyte Yashiro and going over the status of all the other Hakkesshu before setting new plans into motion. He is set to appear in Season 2 of ''XV'', playable and legally usable in official competitive settings, as part of a free update much like Omega Rugal.

* VocalEvolution: When played by Yoshinori Shima, Goenitz's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDafIe7Wv-M original voice]] is smooth, affable, and relatively youthful, but in ''2002'' and ''SVC Chaos'', Shima [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVfup2yFxpM changes the voice]] to be raspy, more sinister, and older sounding (this is partially because he also speaks slower than in ''[='96=]''). Susumu Akagi plays him more outwardly villainous in ''All Star'', but his performance in ''KOF XV'' is very similar to Shima's original.

* EvilLaugh: Surprisingly, he's somewhat averse to these in the older games, but starting from ''All-Star'' and continuing into ''XV'', he starts really cutting loose.

* TheHeavy: Rugal may have kickstarted the plot of the Orochi saga through becoming Omega Rugal, but Goenitz is the one who actually set it in motion long before Rugal became prominent, and is responsible for the vast majority of events in KOF history. He killed Chizuru's sister Maki in order to weaken Orochi's seal, awakened Leona to her Riot of Blood state and caused her to kill her family in a berserk frenzy, gouged out Rugal's eye and gave him Orochi's power, sent Mature and Vice to monitor both Rugal and later Iori, nearly beat Kyo to death which forced him to change his fighting style, and counted on Chizuru to host KOF in order to lure him out.

* FauxAffablyEvil: He acts polite and courteous to his opponents, though his pre-battle quotes in '''96'' and most of his series winquotes don't hide his true intentions and contempt for his foes.

* GenderFlip: He has one named [[http://snk.fandom.com/wiki/Goeniko Goeniko]], which stemmed from his Midnight Bliss form in ''SVC Chaos''. Notable in that she actually showed up as an official character in the pachinko games.

* TheDragon: To Orochi, as he's the strongest of the Hakkeshu.

* TokenEvilTeammate: Among the Hakkeshu, Goenitz is shown with the least redeeming qualities. Unlike his other Heavenly Kings, he is directly connected to evil acts such as the slaughter of Leona's village and the murder of Maki Kagura. Also unlike them, Goenitz is never shown to be engaged in any hobbies or doing anything besides fanatically trying to revive his master.

* BackFromTheDead: In ''XIV'', it's implied that Goenitz is one of the many souls that was released from verse after his defeat. The Awakened Orochi team's story in ''XV'' finally confirms that he is indeed alive and well.
