However, after fighting boss monsters Jee-Han gets things like money, skill books and healing potions - these last worth a lot of money just by themselves. Essentially, he's creating something from where there ''really should'' be nothing. ** In addition, while both people that have found out about Jee-Han's ability laughed at it, almost all fans realized how absurdly powerful Game Breaking Jee-Han's ability is. He is practically immune to any damage that doesn't kill him, recovers his full health extremely quickly, and can pretty much learn ANY ability he wants. He could also potentially raise one of his stats such as Strength to god-like levels incredibly quickly. To put numbers on it, when the story began, he had a Strength of 10, and raised it to 15 with his first level-up. Since then, he has gained 3 levels, and could put 15 more points in Strength, if he wanted to. That means that in less than a month, he could have TRIPLED his base Strength.

!!Han Jee-Han's family

[[folder:Han Jee-Han]]
!!'''Han Jee-Han'''

The Protagonist. At the start of the story, he suddenly gained the ability to see game effects in real life, apparently at random. He eventually discovers that he has a natural supernatural ability that manifested in a very strange and useful way.
-----

* AdaptiveAbility: His Gamer ability allows him to acquire and improve skills based on his actions. Doing normal actions such as working out or studying grants him basic EXP, while using an acquired skill increases its level. Extensively using a specific attribute such as Intelligence also has the chance to improve it.
* {{Badass}}: As he expands his skillset and knowledge, and builds upon them, Jee-Han slowly, but surely, is growing closer to the trope. He's already considered strong enough to live in the Abyss by a veteran.
* BashBrothers: With Sung-Il. They work pretty well together, despite Jee-Han only having his ability for a few months.
* BatterUp: His first weapon of choice. He tries out several others later, eventually settling on a spear.
* BloodKnight: Sort of. He doesn't like fighting real people, but he takes to hunting "mobs" in real life like most players take to grinding in games.
* CombatTentacles: Looking for a way to lock down his opponents, Jee-Han created the Mana Rope ability, which can act as this.
* DeadpanSnarker
* DishingOutDirt: His summon, Gnome, is an earth spirit. He's grinded it enough that she's able to perform multiple complex tasks with the required mana, including emergency burrows to escape attacks and [[spoiler:moving enough earth to make a ''massive'' traphole to disable giant golems.]]
* DullSurprise: A typical response to learning information from the Abyss without appropriate context or examples to compare with. For example, he wasn't really impressed with Lolikiano's claim to be one of the few sages in the world[[note]] With "few" being "a little over 100".[[/note]] until he got that it equated to a high-rank mage--which instantly turned him starry-eyed. Lampshaded frequently.
* TheEmpath: After a fashion, thanks to his Observe/Inspect ability also revealing the target's emotional state.
* EvolvingAttack: Much to his delight, his Spinning Mana Arrow doesn't just raise in power as he trains with it, but also allows him to shoot multiple ones in a single cast, creating a small barrage.
* ExtraOreDinary: Has a defensive skill that gives his skin the strength of bronze.
* FlatWhat: After [[spoiler:getting kissed]] by Lolikiano.
* FreakOut: During the early part of the story, Jee-Han couldn't see his mother's title and level, leading him to suspect she's both hiding something and is high level, so when [[spoiler: he could somehow see his mother's title and level and see that she was a low-level housewife, he was shocked and was wondering what was going on]].
* GenreSavvy: With his Gamer ability putting everything into a context most in-universe people would be hard-pressed to match his knowledge in, Jee-Han is normally able to easily deduce and work thing out in his favor, as long as it doesn't require information he'd have no way to be familiar with, like knowledge from the Abyss.
* GridInventory/{{Hammerspace}} / HyperspaceArsenal: How his inventory GUI appears.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Played with. He can instantly learn new techniques by using a skillbook, then immediately use them proficiently, whereas normal people would have to struggle with the learning process then train with the skill to gain a similar level of proficiency. A wonderful example is Jee-Han learning the Yunhon Soul Recovery technique, which none of the Chunbumoon knew because they were still researching its theory. He proceeded to use it to [[spoiler:accelerate Sung-Il's healing process from one month to one ''day''.]] However, Jee-Han's skills all have levels of their own, and he [[LevelGrinding has to work his butt off]] to strengthen them all the same. He also has to perform actions to gain new skills on his own, and Sung-Il reminded him that he still needs actual experience to be able to use the skills effectively, so he still trains with Sung-Il in order to get just that.
* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: While it at first seems like he missed a chance at some awesome superpowers because his love for games gave him a gamer ability, we later find out that it allows him to learn incredibly powerful techniques in meager amounts of time, and when the mechanics of it are exploited properly, he can very quickly become a force to be reckoned with. They also realize that for his ability to work the way it does, the world literally has to conform to it, meaning that he's technically a member of the rarest and most powerful class of natural ability users. To put it simply, in a world populated by generic tanks, lightning bruisers, and beam spammers, he is a reality warper.
* HealingHands: Jee-Han when using the Yunhon Soul Recovery technique.
* IdiotHero:
** With a [[DumpStat wisdom-dumping]] stat sheet to prove it! He's actually [[InformedAttribute not usually that bad]] (he does a good job figuring out his own abilities, at least), partially because he has the advantage of a power that recontextualizes absolutely everything into the one context he's intimately familiar with. Although this lack of Wisdom is being addressed as of chapter 66.
** Subverted by the time you reach chapter 17, when he's raised his intelligence significantly and discusses how [[RealityEnsues having his special power doesn't mean he can avoid thinking about his future.]] More probably, he wants to live a semi-ordinary life without flaunting his gift too much due to the well-justified fear of getting way over his head and attracting the attention of vastly more powerful people than him. [[ResignedToTheCall Not that he has a choice.]]
** [[ZigzaggedTrope Might or might not]] be a case of MisappliedPhlebotinum from chapter 47 onwards: because his intelligence is high already (and difficult to grind) and skills can be trained through grinding, he realizes it's more efficient to dump his stat points in INT and grind the rest through training, earning him a point in WIS for wise decisions. On the other hand, he hasn't even used his two [[GameBreaker potentially most powerful skills]] - Life Drain and Telekinesis, which could be enormously powerful both individually or when combined with other skills (for example his Spinning Mana Arrow or Mana Shield) - and seems to have [[ForgottenPhlebotinum completely forgotten]] about the ultimate Chunbumoon skill he could learn with 90 INT (He has already gained close to 150 INT). He thinks some things through quite thoroughly, while completely missing out on some of the most obvious options.
* IKnowKungFu: When he learns the basic Chunbumoon's martial arts techniques.
* ImmuneToBullets: Even without his [[DeflectorShield shield]], his [[MadeOfIron multiple stat boosts]] make Jee-Han officially bulletproof; activating all of them made a bullet inflict [[ScratchDamage only one HP's worth of damage]].
* InstantExpert: Zigzagged. While he can learn basic spells and techniques simply by absorbing knowledge from a book or even inventing them, he has to practice them to make them worth using in a fight.
* KameHameHadoken: Learns a form of this in chapter 20.
* LevelGrinding: Whenever he isn't busy with something else, this is generally what he's doing. The fact his skills ALL have skill levels means that he is basically forced to be constantly grinding in order to survive when the supernatural comes calling.
* LivingMacGuffin: He's already well-known throughout the Abyss, and multiple people from there have tried to capture him so they can sell him to a Mana Farm. One can only hope that they don't discover that he can be used to farm extremely rare valuables...
** Justified because the Abyss sees the transit of money, information and ''human resources''--and a guy with an extremely valuable ability like his would ''of course'' become quickly known because of it and appraised appropriately. See SuperPowerLottery for more.
* LuminescentBlush: In full effect after getting kissed by [[spoiler:Lolikiano.]]
* MadeOfIron: Since his vitality is quantified in HP which replenish naturally, he easily recovers from otherwise serious injuries. His Gamer's Mind and Physical Tolerance skills also protect him from psychological and physical trauma, respectively.
** He takes this trope to the next level with [[ExtraOreDinary Bronze Skin]], which can stop bullets with ScratchDamage.
* MagicMissileStorm: His current go to spell, Spinning Magic Arrow, can (as of chapter 54) fire 25 arrows at once. He can cast the spell 20 times per minute, meaning ''500 projectiles'' per minute. [[MahouSenseiNegima Negi is proud]].
* MoneySpider: One of the in-universe strangest aspects to his ability. Usually the monsters encountered in Instant Dungeons don't drop anything since they're just dead spirits given form. However, after fighting boss monsters Jee-Han gets things like money, skill books and healing potions - these last worth a lot of money just by themselves. Essentially, he's creating something from where there ''really should'' be nothing.
* MuggleBestFriend: Was this to Sung-Il and Sae-Young until the story started when he got his own ability.
* MundaneUtility: He is able to improve his passive ''dish washing'' skill.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Jee-Han.
* RealityWarper: Technically. See SuperPowerLottery.
* ScratchDamage: When testing his durability, and got shot under controlled conditions. He was damaged by a single HP.
* StatusBuff: He's learned some buffs that improve his physical abilities--and it turns out he can apply them to allies.
* [[TheDulcineaEffect The Sung-Ah Effect]]: Basically what fuels his desire to save [[IllGirl Sung-Ah]], combined with a dose of sympathy and his own want for a purpose. This is also originally why he helped Shi-Yun (up until it turned out she can normally take care of herself), but it is much more pronounced with Sung-Ah.
* SuperPowerLottery:
** Jee-Han is a natural ability user, someone who was gifted with a sort of supernatural power by chance. Natural ability users gain abilities based on what they love or are passionate about. Thus, Han's love for [=RPGs=] is why he has powers based around RPG mechanics.
** He later finds out that he's what's called a late bloomer. Some natural abilities are powerful to begin with. Late bloomers start off weak, but can become infinitely stronger through training--with no limits.
** Jee-Han is technically a RealityWarper. Whenever someone kills a monster in an Instant Dungeon, the corpse simply disappears, as monsters are just souls having taken on physical shape temporarily. However, whenever Jee-Han gets involved, monsters ''start dropping items.'' This is a big deal because, since they're just souls, they don't actually carry anything with them and thus have nothing to leave behind--yet ''they do'' when Jee-Han's involved. This means that Jee-Han's ability is ''forcing'' the world to conform to it and ''make'' the monsters drop items like in video games. Ergo, Jee-Han's ability belongs to the rarest strata of ability users--the ones whose abilities work because the world has to bend backwards for them. The above is just one of the several ways his Gamer ability twists reality for his benefit.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Jee-Han and Sung-Il will snark at, banter with, tease, mock and insult each other. They also make a formidable team, and consistently show they have a strong bond. Sung-Il has proven to be Jee-Han's most prominent ally.

!!Chunbumoon

[[folder:Shin Sun-Il]]
!!'''Shin Sun-Il'''

Childhood friend of Han Jee-Han and the Chunbumoon martial arts clan's heir.
-----
* {{Badass}}: Before Jee-Han took down his first zombie mob boss, this guy had already taken several of them down on his own.
* BareFistedMonk: How he usually fights. Notably, the intense Chunbumoon training regime leaves him with [[LightningBruiser a high physical-oriented stat spread]], which is what tips off Jee-Han to the fact that [[BoringButPractical he can raise his own in the same way without having to expend stat points in those.]]
* BashBrothers: He and Jee-Han are shown to work together pretty well, and they've already been friends for years by the time they actually start fighting together.
* BerserkButton: Sung-Il nearly chokes Jee-Han to death, having (justifiably) thought that his up-until-then [[ChildhoodFriend childhood]]-[[MuggleBestFriend non-ability user friend]] had been replaced by someone from the Abyss. That also would have implied a potential threat to his clan, due to Jee-Han's relationship wit him. Moral of the story: if you mess with his friends and his clan, get ready to pay.
* ChildhoodFriend: Of Jee-Han. It's noted that despite his popularity in school, Sung-Il is apparently only really friends with Jee-Han, probably due to his family's status.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Less so than most characters of this type. He opens them when surprised, serious, or when Han Jee-Han does something silly.
* LightningBruiser: Which Jee-Han realizes at once and abuses for all it's worth. He nominates Sung-Il the party's tank so that Jee-Han can safely spam his projectiles.
-->'''Jee-Han:'''"''Everybody board the Sung-Il train!''"
* NotSoAboveItAll: He's normally ready to banter and snark with Jee-Han--but he's quite a video game geek himself; he's Jee-Han's best friend, after all. Whenever Jee-Han discovers something absurd regarding his Gamer ability ( and this happens rather often), he'll go tell Sung-Il, who will normally react by [[LampshadeHanging commenting on how ridiculous his ability is]] and then [[GameBreaker complain that his ability is too cheaty.]] Look no further than [[HilarityEnsues their reactions after the first time a boss dropped items.]]
* RichKids: Played with. He comes from a wealthy family of martial artists, but they're very old fashioned and value discipline so he doesn't have many of the fancy electronics or perks that come with being rich.
* TheWorfEffect: One of the strongest people Jee-Han knows is his longtime friend from school, Shin Sun-Il, who is actually a level 25 acquired ability user (raised to 28 recently). [[spoiler:Sung-Gong easily bests both him and his 2 brothers, and lands him a projected month-long recovery time... Which Han cuts down to a day by learning one of his clan's most effective healing techniques.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: Sure, they'll snark at and mock each other, but Jee-Han and Sung-Il are best friends, and it shows.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Green. His brothers have blue and red hair, so technicolor hair seems to run in the family. Ironically, Han Jee-han thought it was strange that [[WeirdnessCensor no one seemed to notice]] the red-headed transfer student's appearance, completely overlooking his childhood friend's abnormal hair color.

* TheTease: So far only seen interacting with Jee-Han and her family members, but she is at least this towards Jee-Han. ''Constantly.'' She's hot and she knows it, so she plays it up to regularly put Jee-Han on the spot.

* TheComicallySerious: To a small extent. She is 100% serious to the point that it comes across as comedic in some situations, such as when she forgot Han Jee-Han's face after claiming to have memorized both his face and name in their first meeting.
* ExactWords: When she offered her body [[labelnote:context:]] After getting saved by Jee-Han, she insisted on a reward and these were her ExactWords, as an example.[[/labelnote]], she meant as a bodyguard for Jee-Han, not what most people ([[CovertPervert including Jee-Han himself]]) would have in mind when hearing these words.
* FieryRedhead: Though her temper is very much subdued in comparison to most others.
* LuminescentBlush: After realizing what her ExactWords entailed when taken out of context.
* NewTransferStudent: Initially averted; Jee-Han is surprised when the new transfer student isn't her. She does transfer in a few months later, though.
* NotSoStoic: She reacted in much the same way Sun-Il did when first introduced to the party invite message box. She recovers rather quickly though, and her shock isn't as ridiculous or pronounced, but still very much noticeable.

* AdultFear: Imagine being the parent of a weak, helpless child. You love that child dearly, and wish only her happiness, but she has a severe health problem that forces you to isolate her for her sake. Furthermore, there are thousands of people who would jump at the chance to get their hands on her in order to exploit her for the very thing that ails her. Your child grows up friendless and lonely, chronically sick, with a short life expectancy, little to no hope of recovery, and in danger of being kidnapped at any moment by unsavory people. ''[[DeathSeeker All while she doesn't care about what happens to herself.]]'' Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the life of Hwan Sung-Gong.
* AntiVillain: To the point he can barely be called a villain, as all he's doing is being done to cure his daughter.
* BadassInANiceSuit: With SinisterShades to boot.
* OverprotectiveDad: Seems to be this, when he's observing Jee-Han and Sung-Ah "date", which leads to [[CrowningMomentOfFunny Jee-Han involuntarily learning a skill to sense blood thirst directed at him.]] Which only kept getting levels throughout the whole afternoon.
** With the revelation of the nature of Sung-Ah's problem and how she could be exploited, this aspect of his personality is not only [[ProperlyParanoid perfectly justified]], but comes off less as hilarious and more as tragic.

[[folder:Hwan Sung-Ah]]
!!'''Hwan Sung-Ah'''

The daughter of Hwan Sung-Gong. She is victim to the Black Demon's Invasion, a very powerful curse that's slowly draining her life force and will eventually kill her.
-----

* DeathSeeker: Sung-Ah has really been pushed into depression by how burdensome her curse is. She's perfectly fine with letting the kidnappers sent by the Mana farm to catch Jae-Han get her while he gets away because she's so ready to give up on life. The only thing that's kept her alive this long is most likely her father's dedication.
* DissonantSerenity: She talks about her kidnapping, rape, enslavement and selling in pieces like one would discuss the weather. A strong example of her DeathSeeker tendencies.
* GlassCannon: Sung-Ah's stat page seems to point towards this. She has abysmal stats in vitality and strength, pointing to a very frail body, but has even more Int(elligence) than Jee-Han, along with very high Wis(dom) and good Luck, all indicative of a heavy-hitting mage. Justified, since she's been cursed since birth with an ailment that drains her life force.
* IllGirl: The Black Demon's Invasion slowly drains her life force and will eventually kill her if not stopped. On top of a general lack of energy, the curse gradually drains the warmth from her body as it creeps closer to death. She's often lying on a hospital bed connected to machinery, and Sung-Gong keeps her close to protect her. Jee-Han can temporarily reduce the effects of the curse with the [[HealingHands Yun-Hon Soul Recovery Technique,]] including restoring her energy and warming her up, and hopes to [[LevelGrinding grind it enough]] to cure her completely.
* MoralityPet: Though Sung-Gong isn't outright villainous so much as as antagonistic as needed for Sung-Ah's sake, his daughter represents the best of him. Everything Sung-Gong does is to save Sung-Ah from an extremely dangerous curse that's slowly killing her.
* NewTransferStudent: Kwon Shi-Yun suddenly transfers to Han's class not long after he encounters her. For extra comedy, [[spoiler: Hwan Sung-Gon]] transfers as a teacher.
* NoSocialSkills: A consequence of her sheltered life, kept close under her father's wing. She demonstrates this often, but a good example is how her entire reasoning for clinging to Jee-Han's arm during their "date" is that she learned from "the sea of knowledge"[[note]] --The Internet--[[/note]]that that's what you're supposed to do when on a date.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: She exhibits several of the characteristics, although she notably lacks [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair the hair color]] you'd expect of characters like this. She's less emotionless and more socially awkward though.
* ShipTease: She's had more of it with Jee-Han than any of his other potential {{Love Interest}}s.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Generally on the "ice" side due to her usual depression and lack of energy. Normally more sugary when with Jee-Han, although that still isn't saying much. The situation described below in TearsOfJoy is a notable major exception.
* TearsOfJoy: [[spoiler:After Jee-Han declares that he will save her. Especially heartwarming when the only thing that had been keeping her from just giving up was her father's dedication to save her, and now she finally realizes that there is someone else who wants her to live, and not just because they feel like they have to take care of her, like she thinks her father does.]]
* WhenSheSmiles: The problem is getting her to smile, as she's rather taciturn. The situation described in the above trope is a notable example of this trope in Sung-Ah.

[[folder:Lolikiano Mistream]]
!!'''Lolikiano Mistream'''

A magical witch mercenary specializing in killing weak ability users. She's among the few sages in the world, skilled and powerful mages with vast knowledge of the magical arts. Aholting's partner.
-----
* {{Badass}}: She's small and looks like a cute little girl dressing up as a witch. She also specializes in magic that draws from and destroys her enemies with their own life energy. When teamed up with Aholting, she can easily level very large areas with her destructive magic. The gamer ability shows her level to be ''142'', which puts her leagues ahead of Jee-Han. Her moniker is well deserved.
* CuteWitch: [[TheTease Plays up to it, too.]]
* GeniusBruiser: As magic is like a science, requiring much studying and dedication, but with under 30% of mages actually becoming fighters, she's this by virtue of being one of the few battle sages in the world.
* LogicalWeakness: Since she specializes in using magic that involves LifeDrain, she's at a disadvantage when facing foes that are not alive--like giant golems. Made even more apparent when it turns out she was '''Level 142''' and was still having trouble because of the nature of her magic. [[SubvertedTrope That doesn't mean]] ElementalRockPaperScissors [[SubvertedTrope is the be-all-end-all to magic though]], as she demonstrated.
* LifeDrain: Lolikiano specializes in draining energy from her opponents and using it to fuel spells against them. She can also draw upon energy provided by living beings--say, a forest--to slug some extremely devastating spells.
* OlderThanTheyLook: She looks like a child.
* PunnyName: ''Loli''kiano.
* RedBaron / NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: ''The Witch of Slaughter.''
* SummonMagic: She seems to have a contract with demons for summoning or something to that effect, since she summons the Demon Gods [[BunnyEarsLawyer Berith]] and [[BloodKnight Zagan]] to aid her. She's quite chummy with them too.
* TheTease: She calls herself Jee-Han's "big sister" and flirts constantly with him, like Sae-Young but with a lolicious body. She even gives him her number. Also, [[spoiler:she, uh, stole his first kiss,]] claiming he's been "marked" by her. Jee-Han is [[LuminescentBlush suitably]] [[FlatWhat flabbergasted.]]

* {{Badass}}: According to the gamer's ability, he is level 156, making him even stronger than the witch of carnage.
* BodyguardingABadass: His charge, Lolikiano, is quite strong herself at level 142, yet he still protects her. Rather justified in their case, since their respective magics have very strong synergy, allowing for extremely destructive spells when working together.
* BodyHorror: When his magic incantation spoke of turning his body into a tree, ''he meant it literally.''
* FromASingleCell: Even if you destroy the foliage that results from his magic, as long as his roots remain intact underground, his forest will keep regenerating, and eventually so will his human body.
* GreenThumb: His magic allows him to turn himself into a tree--which leaves a vast root connection underground that allows him to [[FromASingleCell rapidly regenerate,]] and quickly become [[LifeDrain a life-draining]] [[MesACrowd forest.]]
* LifeDrain: Like Lolikiano. In his case, the trees created by his magic can drain the energy from his opponents, or he can provide the energy himself. He does so and then gives it to Lolikiano in order to give her the energy needed to prepare massively destructive magic.
* NatureHero: He's a druid, and uses magic from nature
* NemeanSkinning: He wears a wolf-head cowl.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Due to his magic, he looks somewhere in his early 30s, but he is actually in his 50s.

[[http://www.mangahere.co/manga/the_gamer/c026/7.html Her intelligence was stated at '54' at level 10, while Jee-han stated his was 65 at the time her Int Score was revealed.]] Jee-han's Int has since increased over 150, making her one feature obsolete.
