He was also able to lead his people and helped them to successfully defend themselves from the Ice Nation grounders for months. He is also shown to be a capable fighter in the last episodes of the season.

* DoUntoOthersBeforeTheyDoUntoUs: His rationalization for the massacre was to attack them before they could attack Arkadia. He generally saw the Grounder/Sky People conflict starting again as inevitable and wanted his people to be the ones who strike first.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: He is introduced along with Farm Station disguised as Grounders and along with his people they cheer when they hear that bellamy and the others killed some Ice Nation scouts earlier and they call them "Grounder killers" as a compliment and he also refuses to shake Indra's hand when Kane introduces her to him and tells him that she is an ally and Pike responds with a "well I guess I'll have to take your word for it" remark to Kane about it.

The main members of the Sky People are Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, Murphy, Monty, Jasper, and formerly Wells and Finn from the 100, later joined by Raven in season 1. Abby, Jaha, and Kane were the main members of the Ark before arriving on Earth, Abby and Kane at the end of season 1 and Jaha in the beginning of season 2. Clarke and Bellamy serve as the leaders of the 100 and Abby and Kane as the leaders of the Sky People as a whole though arguably Clarke is the main leader of the Sky People in season 2 and 3 onward.

* CharacterDevelopment: In season one, he has a clear disdain of Grounders and antagonizes a chained and vulnerable Lincoln. By season three, he's Pro-Grounder, helping Lincoln and his people and working with Kane and Octavia to keep the Grounders safe.

* StraightGay: According to season 3, he had a boyfriend back on the Ark and the boyfriend is introduced in the second episode as part of the Farm Station survivors.

* AscendedExtra: Originally just another member of the titular 100, but has risen in prominence alongside Miller with each season. In season 4, she [[spoiler: becomes one of the seven who journeys to space to return to the Ark for five years.]]

* RelationshipUpgrade: In season 3 seduces and sleeps with her friend Monty, becoming an OfficialCouple in season 4.

** In season 2, Harper and Monty become close friends in Mount Weather and are one of the few to survive the bone marrow experiments. He takes care of her after the first round and she is one of the first people he hugs after the irradiation. In "Red Sky At Morning" she sleeps with him and they become an OfficialCouple at the end of the season.
** In season 1 she had this with Jasper as she attempted to flirt with him when he became popular for shooting at the Grounders though he showed no interest in her as he had a crush on Octavia at the time. But just like with Monty they become closer friends in Mount Weather and he ends up showing interest in Maya.

** Got better with a gun in season 1 and even shoots some guards in Mount weather in season 2.

* TookALevelInCynic: In season 4. This is because when the deadly Black Rain came, she saw someone fall down, but she ran instead of helping him. This act haunts her greatly, and she goes along with Jasper's GoOutWithASmile plans rather than try and survive. Ultimately, [[spoiler:Monty manages to talk her out of it at the last minute.]]

* ThoseTwoGuys: With Sterling in season two, until Sterling dies.

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Was closer to this trope in season one, when she could often be seen standing in the background with her arms crossed and looking irritated, but less so in later episodes.

* KilledOffscreen: Her mutilated body is unceremoniously dumped down a chute into a cart in the reaper tunnels in the season 2 finale, discovered by Octavia after being harvested by the Mountain Men. Her death is spoiled in a clip before the episode even airs.
* MauveShirt: Has a name and more lines than most background delinquents, but was never able to rise beyond minor character status, unlike characters such as Harper and Miller, due to her death in the finale of season 2.

* ThoseTwoGuys: With Monroe in season two, until his death.

* ShipTease: [[spoiler: with Miller in season 4, since the two are regularly seen spending time together.]] The two actors are very close, as seen in social media, and have definitely played up the ship.

* OutOfFocus: He appeared only when it had to do with getting his son out of Mount Weather and he tends to disappear for a few episodes especially in season 3 where his only speaking part is to give Kane a message about Indra and he's not seen again for the rest of the season.

A survivor from the Ark. She is in a romantic relationship with Bellamy following the time jump between seasons 2 and 3.

* RememberTheNewGuy: Bellamy apparently knew her on the Ark. She was never mentioned before her relationship with Bellamy, though the reason for this could be that she barely arrived when the Ark crashed on Earth and that the survivors where spread out in different locations so she probably wasn't around during the events of season 2 or she was just in the background and Bellamy was also in Mount Weather most of season 2 so he probably didn't run into her until after.

* SecondLove: He's heavily implied to have it bad for Raven, as shown when he specifically asks her to work with him on a radio beacon. He even designed a brace for her leg. They slowly grow closer in the latter half of season 2.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He is not shown in season 3 and is only mentioned to have broken up with Raven before the start of the season. This is because of his actor getting fired but it is unknown whether or not he lives or dies during the events of the season.

** Kane stops Octavia from killing him in season 3. He points out that the Grounders have to be the ones to kill Pike with their brand of justice so that the Sky People can renew peace with them.

* {{Foil}}: To Kane because his attitude towards grounders counters Kane's desire to make peace with them. His devotion to his plan mirrors Kane wanting to kill 300 people on the Ark to save air and life support in season 1.

* HeelFaceDoorSlam: Despite signs of a redemption arc in late season 3, [[spoiler:Octavia abruptly kills him in the finale as revenge.]]
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He sees the [[spoiler:massacre of the Tree People Grounder army sent to protect Arkadia]] as attacking them before they could attack Arkadia and he wanted to strike first to show strength against the Grounders. He also decides to [[spoiler:attack a village]] afterwards because he wanted to farm the land for food as most of Arkadia's food supply was lost in the Mount Weather attack. It is shown that he still has this belief in the season 3 finale.

* MadeOfIron: In the last episodes of season 3 he is able to fight and do other things despite heavy wounds and injuries.

* RememberTheNewGuy: He was apparently important on the Ark but he was not mentioned by name or introduced until season 3.

* BigBad: Serves as this for the season 1 Ark story line as she is the one who orchestrated Jaha's assassination attempt, attacked the Unity Day celebration, and stole one of the dropships which resulted in The Ark loosing power and air thus forcing the Sky People to come to the ground.

* BadassGay: He is one of the more capable members of the 100, and during the Grounders assault on the dropship he kept fighting even after taking a spear to his right shoulder. He even takes down Anya in one hit.

* BadassGay: Along with the other Farm Station survivors he was able to hold off the Ice Nation. Some what a subversion because the Ice Nation conflict took place off-screen and though it is shown that he knows how to use a gun he spends most of season 3 being on the side line and Miller is mostly shown protecting him when he gets injured later on so he hasn't gotten a truly badass moment on-screen yet.

* KickTheDog: [[spoiler: As said in PetTheDog below he is respectful to Lincoln but that doesn't stop him from pulling the trigger and killing him is this trope because all though you can arguably understand his reasons for the massacre he had no good reason to kill Lincoln and he just did it to punish him for the others escaping.]]
** Of course the massacre is also this trope because of the whole idea that he along with the others not only killed everyone in their sleep but also killed the wounded and the fact that there were children apart of the army.
* MadeOfIron: In the last episodes of season 3 he is able to fight and do other things despite being cut up on his chest by [[spoiler:Indra]], getting injured in his side and it looked like it could become fatal later on, and [[spoiler:Octavia cutting him in the leg in an attempt to get him killed.]]
* PetTheDog: Before executing [[spoiler:Lincoln]], Pike tells him that while he won't let his people go he will make sure they are properly taken care of and he speaks respectfully to him. It is also shown by the look on his face that he doesn't enjoy what he is doing.

** In general his flashback story where it is shown that he cared for his students and was willing to go with the 100 to the ground despite the fact that at the time the possibility that the earth's radiation could still be fatal.
* PragmaticHero/ PragmaticVillain: When he is first introduced he is shown to be pragmatic in fighting the Ice Nation and protecting his people. He also had a reasonable distrust for the Grounders in general because of this and that the last time he and his people had contact with the others they were at war with the Trikru who are now their allies. Later his pragmatism and his distrust for Grounders is what turns him into villain when he massacres a Trikru army out of the belief that they were planning to attack and even if they weren't planning to that war with the grounders would inevitably start again because of the previous actions of the Ice Nation and that they should strike first to send a message to the other Grounders that they are prepared to defend themselves and won't go down without a fight but in the process almost starting the war that instead could have got him and his people wiped out despite his intention.
** Though he later helps the others to [[spoiler:fight A.L.I.E.]] because she was a problem for everybody and he was even able to once again set aside his distrust for grounders to work with Indra.

* RevengeBeforeReason: His [[JustifiedTrope justified hatred of the Ice Nation]] and because of an attack by them on Mount Weather that killed several of his people leads to him rejecting the membership in the Coalition and for all intends and purposes starting a war that the Sky People cannot possibly win when he massacres a Tikru army who were sent by Lexa to protect Arkadia after the attack.
* RevengeByProxy: Goes after the Trikru just for being grounders like the Ice Nation who killed several of his people.

* TyrantTakesTheHelm: [[spoiler: Becomes the new Chancellor in "Watch the Throne" and proceeds to launch a war with the Grounders. He will also imprison, and if he must execute, those who help Grounders, or even refuse to accept his leadership or his rules.]]

* VillainHasAPoint: The massacre of the Trikru army would have been the right decision if Nia successfully became commander as she would of had them attack. There is also when [[spoiler:Ontari became commander after Lexa's death]] and in the finale he points out to Bellamy that if the army was still there when she died they would have attacked. Main point being that the Grounders always obey the Commander [[MyCountryRightOrWrong even if they disagree with them]] so yes they could have attacked Arkadia and you could also factor in when [[spoiler:A.L.I.E took over Polis through Ontari and she could have had an extra army behind her.]]
** He also has some valid points in his distrust of Grounders when it is considered that their truce with the Sky People was a very fragile one with the Sky People having to be cautious with all their decisions under the threat that they could be wiped out if they make the wrong one and the Grounders' culture and traditions sometimes making it hard to reason with them. This makes it possible that even despite Pike's actions there never truly would have been peace in the long run.

** Also as a participant in the massacre she possibly killed children who were apart of the army as Grounders do have ChildSoldiers that fight along side them.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: It seems he was introduced as Miller's boyfriend just to prove to the audience that Miller's gay.

* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: In late Season 3, Indra spares his life because Murphy points out to her that they'll need him in the fight against A.L.I.E. and Indra later also invokes that they need him on her former second Octavia who has a harder time with it because of him killing [[spoiler:Lincoln and even makes an attempt on his life when their supposed to be fighting together to prevent the chipped people from entering from the balcony, though she is later able to work with him but of course she [[YouHaveOutLivedYourUsefulness kills him the moment A.L.I.E is defeated and he is no longer of use alive]].]] Otherwise besides Indra and Octavia none of the other characters are shown to have a desire to kill him.
** An earlier example in season 3 is when [[spoiler:Bellamy sets him up to be captured and Octavia is stopped from killing him by Kane who points out that the Grounders have to be the ones to kill him with their brand of justice so that the Sky People can renew peace with them because he assumes that they will not tolerate him being killed by Skaikru since they have already denied them their justice before when Clarke mercy killed Finn]].

* CoolTeacher: At least back on the Ark. His Earth Skills lessons definitely came in handy and he has stated a couple of times that Clarke was one of his best students. [[spoiler: He was tasked to teach the 100 those lessons to prepare them before they were sent to the ground.]]
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]:[[spoiler:He was quite stern with the 100 because they were being uncooperative in class and then he starts beating up Murphy in their last day of class before they were sent to Earth.]] [[JustifiedTrope Justified]]:[[spoiler:He only had a few days to teach them how to survive on the ground and he couldn't tell them they were going to be sent to the ground and he wasn't allowed to go with them. He beats up Murphy to make the students fight back in an last attempt to teach them how to survive, even then Murphy was the student who was being the most uncooperative as he was being a class clown and constantly interrupting Pike. So in a way he was giving Murphy a hard lesson in survival by beating him up.]]
* CruelToBeKind: [[spoiler:In flashbacks, he beats up Murphy in front of the rest of the class to get them to fight back because it was the last day he could teach them anything before they are sent to the ground and he needed to see if they have what it takes to survive. * DidNotThinkThisThrough: The problem with his plan to fight a war with the grounders is that even though the sky people have guns and other advanced weaponry and the grounders don't use guns, the grounders still greatly outnumber the sky people and they are all warriors trained since birth while most of the sky people have only recently learned too use guns and fight and they really don't have a lot of ammo to kill every single grounder.
** Another problem that was brought up is that being at war with the grounders will make it harder for the Sky People to gather food since they are confined to only one area of the land to defend themselves which is why Pike makes the decision to attack the nearby grounder village to farm the land to grow food so that the people of Arkadia don't end up starving when their food supply runs out as most of their food supply was lost in the Mount Weather attack.
* DoUntoOthersBeforeTheyDoUntoUs: His rationalization for the massacre was to attack them before they could attack Arkadia and he generally saw the Grounder/Sky People conflict starting again as inevitable and wanted his people to be the ones who strike first.
* DramaticIrony: The first one is ending up in the same cell as Murphy who he beat up in class in the flashbacks and Indra who was the only one he spared in the massacre. The second one is when [[spoiler:Octavia is the one who kills him]] when the flashbacks reveal that she was the one student who was paying attention in class.

The Agro Station (also known as "Farm Station") which was the Ark's agricultural facility. It was where edible plants and vegetables were grown, used as food by the inhabitants. It was also known for moonshine and medicinal herbs. Agro was one of three stations evacuated after losing power during the Unity Day mutiny. During the exodus, it survived the descending to Earth and crashed deep into Ice Nation territory somewhere to the northwest from Alpha Station with approx 200 survivors.
