And when Rapunzel fights back, it ends with watching Mother Gothel die in front of her and Flynn nearly dying. ** To Varian -- Both were allies of Rapunzel [[spoiler: before they both betrayed her]], but while Varian was a NiceGuy who loved alchemy and science, Cassandra was a snarky, no-nonsense JerkWithAHeartOfGold who wanted to join the Royal Guard. [[spoiler: While Varian turns evil of his own volition due to what happened to his father, Cassandra turned evil just before she touched the moonstone and made sure to keep it hidden until then]].

* {{Hypocrite}}: She's quick to call Eugene [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered]], but Cassandra herself can be very selfish; she almost jeopardized Eugene and Rapunzel's relationship due to not wanting to face consequences for sneaking Rapunzel out of the castle in the pilot for the series, tries to sabotage Rapunzel in "Challenge of the Brave" due to being upstaged, and "Rapunzel and the Great Tree" suggests she's afraid of Rapunzel becoming independent because she'll stop having to rely on her. And then there's of course the second season's finale, [[spoiler: where she takes the moonstone's powers for herself.]]
