However, while [[ForTheEvulz Vaclav]] had [[FlatCharacter no depth]] past using the Nerifes Cannon to take over the world "because," and is [[spoiler: killed off barely a quarterway into that game,]] Alexei has sympathetic and fleshed out reasons for his actions. He also [[spoiler: survives until near the end of the game.]]

* BrutuallyHonest: Judith flat out admits that she isn't good at lying, and so tends to just say what she has on her mind. One of her more notable examples is when she [[WhatTheHellHero calls out Estelle]] for how she is essentially using Brave Vesperia for her own ends while not offering anything back like a real Guild agreement would expect, something Estelle hadn't even considered and ends up agreeing with. When Yuri speaks to her after, she reaffirms she didn't mean to be rude, but that she meant everything she said.

* LightningBruiser: Although he's as strong as a MightyGlacier, Flynn's just as quick as Yuri and more durable. He doesn't have the same combo potential as Yuri, but he is easily the second best combo character in the

* ShipTease: A lot of this with Yuri, which was completely intentional according to WordOfGod.

** An at-first unnamed attack that sees Repede FlashStep through the target and strike them harshly with his dagger. In the skit afterwards, the rest of the party can't decide what to name it, so a frustrating Rita finally just christens it "Slash!!".

* ArtificialBrilliance: She often uses Angel Ring to bring enemies close together when Rita or Raven is preparing to hit one one with an ability that inflicts damage across a small area.

* IChooseToStay: If you complete Estelle's [[SidequestSideStory character sidequest chain]] in Halure, she has an epiphany and tells the others that she's decided to live there, rather than return to the Imperial Palace. The final scenes during the end credits show she's made Halure her new home, where she [[spoiler: reads and writes children's stories]].

* TrueBlueFemininity: In her introduction in the game, as well as in ''[[TheMovie The First Strike]]'', she's wearing blue.

* ShipTease: He is in several teasy relationships, though most aren't reciprocated by him. Judith's flirting usually has him flirt back somewhat blandly and he gently rejects Estelle near endgame, according to WordOfGod. In fact, most ShipTease in and out of universe is with Flynn, which does go both ways.

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: During her talk with Yuri before the final battle it's implied that he gently rejected her feelings, which was later confirmed in an interview to indeed be the intention for that scene.

* AmbiguouslyBi: On one hand, Judith questions her about her ideal man in a skit (getting a gushy response about a book character), and Estelle seems to have a BodyguardCrush on Yuri, which he rejects. On the other hand, she has enough ShipTease with Rita that Yuri himself [[ShipperOnDeck coins the]] ship name Ristelle.

* MeaningfulName: A meaningful nickname, anyway. ''Estel'' is a word in [[Franchise/TolkiensLegendarium Elvish]] meaning "trust" or "hope". Both are qualities Estelle never loses, even after her CharacterDevelopment via TraumaLineCongo. When Yuri or Raven are waxing nihilistic, Judith is reducing herself to nothing more than her self-appointed job as a blastia destroyer, or Rita is in a particularly misanthropic mood, count on Estelle to bring them out of it with her cheerfulness and hope for a better tomorrow.

* ShipTease: With [[NobleMaleRoguishMale Yuri, Flynn]], and Rita. Mostly with Yuri (who is the hero willing to do anything for her) and Rita (being Rita's first friend and having so many close moments with her, it's almost hilarious), since Flynn's out for most of the game. Yuri does reject her feelings in Aurnion though, according to WordOfGod.

* DeadpanSnarker: Mostly in banter between him and Yuri. He sometimes snarks at the rest of Brave Vesperia, albeit in a far more polite manner then Yuri.

Flynn is Yuri's childhood friend who Yuri states that he "[[AlwaysSomeoneBetter could never beat at anything]]", and a rising star in the Imperial Knights. He begins the story on a knightly pilgrimage unaware of the dangers he's in, which spurs Estelle and Yuri to try to find him, and he officially represents the Empire across the world as he investigates the various conspiracies piling up around him. Though he and Yuri are close, their contrasting world views can bring them into conflict. [[spoiler: Over the course of the story he is promoted to Captain, and later Commandant.]]

[[spoiler:Raven is actually Captain Schwann Oltorain - sent by Alexei to spy on Estelle, and eventually capture her. He later rejoins Yuri after fierce [[DefeatMeansFriendship coercion]] and willingly puts his life in the hands of Brave Vesperia as penance.]]

[[spoiler:Alexei's insurrection and the Adephagos crisis sees him named as emergency Emperor, and his leadership abilities help form an alliance between the Guilds and Empire. It is implied that he is made Emperor permanently with the support of the Council and Knights, ending the succession crisis.]]

[[spoiler:After using his connections in the Council to escape punishment for his crimes in Nor and nearly starting a war between the Empire and Guilds, Yuri takes matters into his own hands and murders him.]]

Whenever she confronts him, Flynn sides with Yuri and has Sodia leave the room. Whereas if Yuri talks down to Sodia, Flynn says nothing about Yuri's tone toward his lieutenant.
