Frank at first came off like a two-dimensional FishOutOfWater curmudgeon with [[StrawmanPolitical conservative]] values, but in later episodes, it was obvious that there was a lot more nuance to his personality (like when he waxed philosophic when he watched the sunrise).

* InformedFlaw: Downplayed. Though he's obviously a right-leaning political, he's primarily depicted as just old-fashioned. However, the new Samburu believe that he'd cast votes on Brandon on principal and Brandon himself tanked his own game because he didn't want to be associated with somebody as hateful as Frank. It was only on his boot episode that the extent of his fanaticism was shown when Teresa of all people talks about how uncomfortable he makes everyone. Even then it was just his opinions on gun rights, nothing as "hateful" as Brandon accused him of being. His contempt towards Brandon was for a valid reason, that being Brandon's refusal to pull his own weight around camp.
