** The final battle that occurs when Mr. Puzzles crashes the [=SMG4=] Crew's channel is a show-stopper and his appearance on their channel causes all of his viewers to tune in. It generates all the high ratings that Mr. Puzzles craves for in a show...but since it was being recorded on [=SMG4's=] channel, ''they'' become the most watched show, meaning that Mr. Puzzles essentially thwarts his own goal and depowers himself.

** He's been the villain with the longest time from first action to appearance but is shown to have very little patience himself.
** He derides [=SMG4=]'s channel as stupid, so naturally he uses the crew to act in shows that are no different than the pop-culture parodies that [=SMG4=] is famous for on his channel. He's arguably worse, as while [=SMG4=] does so in clear parody , Mr. Puzzles considers these ''genuine'' television shows.
** His ultimate motive of forcing the [=SMG4=] Crew into being his actors was to create the greatest show the world has ever seen and control the world. He ends up creating that via crashing their channel and having a subsequent battle that the entire world watches...but it's on ''their'' channel, meaning that he gets what he wants, but doesn't benefit in the slightest.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Put [=SMG4=] and gang through the wringer with his manipulative, controlling machinations and fittingly gets bested and beaten by all of them via making their own show and literally pummelling him to incapacitation.

* NonActionBigBad: He's definitely the least physical villain in the series, even more so than Francis and Niles--he lurks in the shadows, and uses other people to advance his plans. It's not until he initiates the "Puzzlevision Originals" does he directly engage with the crew. Even in the Puzzlevision Movie, at his most powerful, he's a complete wimp when he's in a space he has no control over. Mario is able to shatter his face with a simple sucker punch, and once he loses his five-star ratings (and thus also loses his reality warping powers), the gang is able to beat him up fairly easily.
* NotSoAboveItAll: For as composed and eccentric he can be, even Mr. Puzzles is genuinely befuddled at [=SMG3's=] first dress on "Once Upon an [=SMG4=]".

* OhCrap: He displays a shocked face for the first time when Mario starts to beat him up [[DisproportionateRetribution for interrupting his TV time]]. Sadly for [=GMod=] users, his official model that was released does not come with this face[[note]]or his "angry with closed eyes" face, for that matter[[/note]].

* PoweredByAForsakenChild: His desire for a 5 star rating isn't just because he's ThePerfectionist. It turns out his powers get stronger the better recieved his shows are, and when he finally gets his coveted 5 stars at the climax of ''PUZZLEVISION'', he gains enough power to do MassHypnosis on the entire Mushroom Kingdom and potentially beyond.

** Throughout the Puzzlevision movie, his desperation for 5-star ratings becomes greater and greater. Thus, when he finally has his perfect 5-star rating, Mario lowering the ratings by being his clumsy, chaotic self breaks Mr Puzzles' composure completely and sends him into a massive screaming fit.

* WalkingSpoiler: He's responsible for the events of "[=SMG4=] Movie: It's Gotta Be Perfect", "[=SMG4=] Movie: Western Spaghetti," and ''WOTFI 2023''.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** His first spoken appearance in ''WOTFI 2023'' was done through a filter, but in all appearances afterward, he spoke clearly with no filter whatsoever. This was likely done so the audience could hear his voice better.
** He also was shown to speak while his monitor was off in ''WOTFI 2023'', whereas in future appearances, he only speaks while displaying his face, or another image.

* RiddleForTheAges: Even after his death, some questions about him still remain unanswered.

** He also has some similarities to Vox from ''WesternAnimation/HazbinHotel'', as both are TV-headed men who own a entertainment media, in addition to looking very similar design-wise even to the hat with a bent antenna, something the show lampshades when Mario mistakes Vox for Puzzles. [[spoiler:Both are also not above using [[MassHypnosis hypnosis to control their viewers.]]]]

* BerserkButton: Do not give him anything less than five stars, especially by deliberately decreasing the rankings. When Mario does this repeatedly in the game show, Mr. Puzzles eventually goes on a brutal rampage.

* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: His power and control over others seems to be relative to how many people like his shows. The higher the ratings, the greater his power, the tighter his control until his victims have no free will at all. When he finally gets to five stars, his power becomes great enough to affect people on a ''global'' scale.

* ControlFreak: As a caricature of a TV producer, Mr Puzzles cannot stand things not going according to plan. This is to his great detriment as when he puts the pieces in place and lets things play out, he gets his "show" but his ultimate plan in Puzzlevision nearly comes undone at the seems because he brainwashed the [=SMG4=] crew and wasn't getting the same results. Not to mention, his ultimate plan was to brainwash the entire world into being his captive audience.

* DealWithTheDevil: Seemingly his M.O. He targets vulnerable people and gives them technology that gives them what they want immediately but ultimately makes things worse for them; his deal with [=SMG4=] ends up destroying Peach's Castle, his deal with One-Shot Wren eventually leads to his demise, and his deal with Marty ends with him and Mario in prison.

* DirtyCoward: Once someone overpowers him, all of his bravado goes south and he ends up running away, demonstrated perfectly during his first encounter with Mario where he runs all over the castle being chased by Mario.

* FailedASpotCheck: Having control over the worlds within his programs, he normally almost instantly corrects any "mistakes" made, such as if someone goes out of character or they see something that they shouldn't have. In "Mr. Puzzle's Incredible Gameshow Spectacular," however, his inability to tolerate Mario's antics lowering his rating leads him to give Mario a time out in a cage outside of the current show's aspect ratio. In his frustration, he inadvertently frees Mario from his cage during his breakdown and doesn't notice when the red clad Italian ends up stumbling out of the show.

* FourFingeredHands: His hands only have four fingers. Notably, [=Duz1771's=] fan model of the character has ''five'' fingers, though it would later get an upgrade with the correct proportions.

* HiddenAgendaVillain: Why exactly he's chosen to antagonize the Gang was unknown until the movie, though it was heavily implied that he sees the Gang's misadventures due to his actions as a "show" with him as the "director". ''WebAnimation/SMG4MoviePuzzlevision'' reveals he targeted the Crew specifically because he considered the show the stupidest thing ever, thus a perfect target for him to "improve".

** As noted above, in his VillainSong, he says he picked the Crew to be his actors because he believes that [=SMG4's=] channel is "the stupidest show that he's seen" and if he can make them entertaining then he can do anything. His format and style of shows that he makes are not that much different from that of the channel he mocks.

* TearOffYourFace: Claims to have done this to himself so he can replace it with a TV.

** He gets another one in the Puzzlevision movie. His desperation for 5-star ratings becomes greater and greater, to the point where after [=SMG4's=] show upstages him, thus taking away his power, he sobs in defeat, complete with a crying baby on his screen/face.

* KickTheDog: Sending his goons to blow up Mario's lemonade stand. While Mario [[KickTheSonOfABitch brought it on himself]], it was still rather extreme and poor Tari can only cry over the hard work she put in to make it even functional.

* ThirteenIsUnlucky: If you've been keeping up with [=SMG4's=] upload schedule, you may have noticed that this guy's next "show" gets off the ground (as in, its associated mini-arc reaches its WhamEpisode that significantly kickstarts its big event) 13 episodes after his previous one, not counting ''WebAnimation/SMG4Crew'' or "[=Remastered64=]"[[note]]Despite [[Recap/SMG4SMG4AndSMG3RankSMG4Characters "SMG4 and SMG3 Rank SMG4 Characters"]] using the traditional ''[=SMG4=]'' intro and being uploaded on a Saturday, not a Wednesday, it feels enough like an ''[=SMG4=] Crew'' video to qualify as such[[/note]].
