* CharacterDevelopment: Throughout ''Dark Prison'', Albharda is obsessed with eliminating Shu, making loads of irrational choices until Selena snaps him out of it. When he gets to confront Shu privately, he lets go of his RoaringRampageOfRevenge; instead, he demands Shu fulfill a promise to defend the Earth when he returns from La Gias at the end of ''Dark Prison''. [[spoiler:This trait is finally cemented when he dies in ''The Moon Dwellers'', telling Selena {{Revenge}} is useless]].

* TheGhost: Only referenced in ''Alpha 3''; averted following his first on-screen appearance in the ''Second Original Generation''.
** AdaptationalVillainy: ''Alpha 3'' never makes it clear what his intentions are. Players are told he despises Bian and wishes to surpass him with the [=RaiOh=], regardless of the costs. The ''Second Original Generation'' reveals [[MadScientist a sociopathic obssession to achieve his goals, without considering the suffering of innocents]]. Naturally, this doesn't sit well with his daughter as she willingly assists the Steel Dragon Battle Group and undo what Kaoru wanted with the [=JinRai=].
* HateSink: In his debut, not so much, he was just ambiguous. Come in 2nd OG, it was revealed that he was made to be hated and all those sociopathic inventions were for trying to upstage other 'good' scientists' works not just limited to Bian Zoldark, but even also the likes of Wilhelm von Juergen. While Juergen might have generated unintentional dislike by the fans thanks to complications, all of the despicable traits of Kaoru to be hated are completely intentional.

** {{Gainaxing}}: Part one of her major {{Fanservice}} qualities is due to her [[SuperMovePortraitAttack pilot cut-ins]]. Her breasts bounce A LOT ([[MaleGaze with the camera zooming at her chest, too]]), leading this into FetishRetardant for some players. Note Selena isn't the first in the franchise with "bouncing" (Kusuha and [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha2 Seolla Schweizer]] were given this in ''Alpha 2''), but she's the first in [=SRW=] history to take it to ridiculous levels; ''Dark Prison'' ups the ante by giving an ''additional'' cut-in with the same amount of bounce.

The male SuperRobot hero of ''Alpha 3'', Touma is just your normal delivery boy, with a minor background in Karate, but when delivering supplies to the "Tomine Labs", the city comes under attack by the returning "[[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Ze Balmary Empire]]". Current lab head [[HotScientist Minaki Tomine]] urges him to save the lab using the "[=RaiOh=]", the third "Dynamic General Guardian" ([=DGG=]). Touma luckily manages to somehow pilot it thanks to his karate skills and the fact he's using a MotionCaptureMecha. Joining the "Alpha Numbers", he finds himself entangled with the final stages of the war against Balmar and gains a rivalry with Balmarian General [[BoisterousBruiser Baran Doban]]. As his story progresses, Touma continues to hone and refine his skills [[TrainingFromHell from multiple combat veterans, martial artists, soldiers]] and {{Cyborg}}s, including [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAlphaGaiden Sanger Zonvolt]].

* [[MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter Mad Scientist's]] [[HotScientist Hot]] [[MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter Daughter]]: ''Alpha 3'' only; the ''Second Original Generation'' changes Minaki into Kaoru's adopted daughter.

* EpicFlail: The Bemidoan's WeaponOfChoice - to exemplify this, all of its attacks in ''Alpha 3'' are done with the weapon alone.

* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: The Bemidoban's strongest attack is to swing its flail at accelerating speeds (via thrusters on its arms) in a 360 degree arc, then colliding it at its target.

* AMatchMadeInStockholm: Princess Almana Tiqvah, the Balmarian priestess, gains a small crush on him in ''Alpha 3'' after Cobray uses her as a hostage to escape from a Balmarian ''Hermodr'' battleship. When it turns out the Golar Golem aren't going to hestitate to shoot them down, even with the princess aboard Cobray's mecha, he does his best to protect her. Subverted since Cobray's ObliviousToLove.

His true name is Akrav, though only Irui and V.B. are allowed to call him by that. He ends up killing V.B. after she attempted to kill him.
