When he finally gets his hands on the thing, he declares his desire to rewrite history but we don't get much more in terms of motivation before he tries to destroy Lucky. That said, there is flavor text that seem to imply there's more to him than meets the eye.

* BadassBeard: Notable for being a different color from his fur.

* WrongGenreSavvy: Firmly convinced he's TheHero of the story and Lucky's his ArchEnemy. Obviously, Lucky's the real hero while he's merely the StarterVillain.

* BlueIsHeroic: Her scarf is the same shade of blue as her younger brother's.
* CoolBigSis: Cares a lot her younger brother and the feeling is mutual. [[spoiler:The reason Jinx was able to trick Lucky into handing him the Book of Ages so easily was because of how much he trusts her. Jinx taking on her form briefly made Lucky let his guard down long enough for him to snatch the book from him.]]

* CoveredInGrunge: After their ship sinks into a tar pit in the aftermath of their defeat, they are present in the next scene completely drenched in the dark sludge, having been apparently rescued and apprehended by the Yeti's.

** In the postgame, she's very much proud of Lucky's heroics and doesn't have any doubts about his chances of completing the trials to becoming a full-fledged Guardian despite his young age.

* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: She'd be fully dressed if she wore pants.

* LaResistance: The last thing standing between Jinx and total domination of all worlds... and they're losing.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Leads the last remaining Guardians and wears a blue scarf that billows dramatically in the wind.
* SpeakingSimlish: The sole aversion amongst the NPC's that can be talked to during gameplay. Much like Lucky, she's capable of spouting random phrases in perfect English.

* AIIsACrapshoot: Downplayed and PlayedForLaughs, when malfunctioning he may suddenly spout oddly negative things about his trials that range from being rather cynical to outright unsettling and borderline threatening i.e. Claiming that the next trial is highly dangerous and wasn't designed for organic lifeforms. He'll always recover and assure Lucky that everything will be fine.
* CarpetOfVirility: They're actually springs sticking out of his metal chest, but they serve the same purpose.
* LeetLingo: Usually when malfunctoning though he sometimes uses it when speaking normally as well.
* NiceGuy: When he isn't malfunctioning, he's incredibly cheerful and supportive of Lucky's endeavors.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: A pastiche of Richard Simmons with a similar fixation on physical fitness.
* RoboSpeak: Mostly downplayed. Occasionally he speaks with binary though he uses LeetLingo more.
* RobotHair: Styled after Richard Simmon's.

* AloofBigBrother: Implied to not be on the best terms with his other siblings. Lyra seems to consider him to be tough, but very smug. [[spoiler: Exaggerated with his willingness to work together with the group of villains that split up their family and destroyed their home.]]
* CoolShades: Gives him a sleek, but distant look.
* TheGhost: The Mail Golem has dialogue commenting on him despite never making a single appearance aside from being present in a group photo of the Swiftail family. [[spoiler:Averted in TheStinger when he frees Jinx and the Kitty Litter from imprisonment.]]
* HeroOfAnotherStory: He was apparently on an expedition to find new worlds when Jinx attacked and the portal network was shut down. Its speculated that he's having adventures of his own trying to get home. [[spoiler:Averted when its revealed he was an invited guest to Lady Meowmalade's Gilly Island party and later released Jinx and the other villains from their cell, meaning this may [[FallenHero need to be prefixed with the word "fallen."]]]]
* RootingForTheEmpire: [[spoiler:In-Universe. His letter to Lady Meowmalade reveals that he considers himself to be her biggest fan. With the revelation that he's working together with Jinx and his family it may even overlap with LoveMakesYouEvil.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Several of his words as the [[spoiler:Mysterious Stranger Golem]] show that he's very proud of his children and has a lot of good things to say about each and every one. He even seems to be rather caring towards them at times though Tess seems to think he has ParentalFavoritism towards Lady Meowmalade whom he does in fact dote on pretty hard.
* EvilOverlooker: That's him in the background of the cover art. Also, in game he tends to show up as a pair of ominous eyes over a darkened sky.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Has a deep, commanding voice, far more intimidating than nearly any other character in the game.
* EyeBeams: One of his methods of offense during his boss fight.
* FinalBoss: Lucky must defeat him in order to get home.
* FallenHero: Was once one of the Greatest Guardians, and was even a friend to Lucky and Lyra's father Liam. Sometime after his world mysteriously disappeared, he made a power grab for the Book of Ages and, well, here we are.

* SealedEvilInACan: After his defeat, he is seemingly trapped in the Book. Lucky and the rest of the Book lost world inhabitants are seen leaving but Jinx is left behind. With Lucky taking all the missing pages with him, Jinx is powerless and trapped. [[spoiler: The second ending after the Guardian Trials reveals he and most of he Kitty Litter are in prison for their crimes... Unfortunately, someone missed Mittens.]]
* StillWearingTheOldColors: He's still wearing a Guardian Sigil even though he's betrayed the Order of Guardians for his own agenda.

* EnemySummoner: During each of their boss battles, these cats will summon {{Mooks}} to fight for them, often continuing an attack as you have to deal with the enemy. A blessing in disguise as trouncing the enemies refills Lucky's lifebar.
* LastOfHisKind: Supposedly around the time Jinx turned evil, his whole planet disappeared from the Book of Ages, meaning he and his kids are the last cats known. Whether or not the two events have a connection is never stated.
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Almost all of them have a phase of their boss fights where they'll fill the screen with fireballs launched from their cannons. Averted for Lady Meowmalade who instead relies more on her damaging dance floor and the laser beams shot from her disco ball. Similarly, Tess will have phases where she will rely on either cannon fire, laser beams, or a mix of both.

* SympathyForTheDevil: George the MailGolem will occasionally wonder if Jinx and his family feel lonely after their home world mysteriously vanished from the Book of Ages.
* TacticalSuicideBoss: It'd be impossible to defeat most of them if they didn't use an attack that can be used against them. Averted for Tess who instead suffers from her [[BossArenaIdiocy boss arena having technology that Lucky weaponizes against her.]]

Played with in that, while he never really demonstrates any battle prowess against the protagonist, he does vanish in puffs of smoke [[spoiler: and was apparently the only member of the Kitty Litter to avoid capture in the end.]]
* INeedYouStronger: Implied. He pops up in a couple levels to tell Lucky that if he can overcome the difficult path ahead, he will be [[BloodKnight worth challenging in direct combat.]] There are even points where he'll reward Lucky with coins for keeping up with him.
* TheRival: Seems to see Lucky as his, though he insists Lucky prove himself worthy of the distinction.
* SmokeOut: He makes his escapes this way.

* TheRival: With the Guardian Anna Lyd, who is also a gadgeteer genius.
* TransportersAndTeleporters: Pulls out a device to teleport away after every conversation with Lucky in the main story.
* TheUnfavorite: Claims that Jinx favors Lady Meowmalade over her. She is not happy about it.
* UnwantedAssistance: Tries to use her technology to increase the production of chicken eggs in the farms at Veggie Village. She only succeeds in creating an obstacle course filled with dangerous giant eggs rolling around. Overlaps with CondescendingCompassion since she calls the local Wormals ignorant for not appreciating her "brilliant" technological "help".
* VillainHasAPoint: After her defeat, the Wormals conclude that she may have been crazy, but she's not wrong about how more advanced technology can be used to improve their lives.
* WrenchWench: She's the inventor among the bad guys and even has a wrench sticking out of her hair bun.

* GoingDownWithTheShip: Upon defeat, General Buttons can be seen stoically saluting as his ship sinks beneath the waves. Subverted in that both he and Lieutenant Fluffinstuff appear later on Gilly Island to fight Lucky... and again go down with the ship when their cargo of fireworks explodes.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: The bombs General Buttons launches can be knocked back at him. This is the only way to damage them.
* InASingleBound: The only members of the Kitty Litter to not teleport away after speaking to Lucky. Instead, Fluffinstuff takes a huge leap into the sky while General Buttons hangs on to his tail. Buttons himself seems able to jump into the sky during his boss fight.
* KickTheDog: General Buttons targetting the Yeti's food supply to get them to surrender to the two of them is already a pretty nasty tactic. What really makes it despicable is that he's doing it to a pacifistic, peace-loving indigenous group that's giving little to no resistance to his demands.
* TheNapoleon: General Buttons, who rides atop the much bigger Fluffinstuff and is literally an expy of Napoleon Bonaparte.
