And while Mika's always been pretty sexualized, [[FanServicePack it gets ramped up considerably in ''V'']], as her default wrestler outfit shows even more skin than in ''Alpha'', as do most of her alternate costumes, and her Critical Art -- "Peach Assault" -- has her slapping her ass before sandwiching the opponent between her and Nadeshiko's ''butt-cheeks''.

* BerserkButton: She does not take kindly to anyone who mocks pro-wrestling, as Karin would later find out in their fight. Additionally, and funnily enough, an UDON comic had a match between her and Zangief in which Zangief accidentally touches her butt, [[PervertRevengeMode which causes her to become flustered and turn the match around in her favor]].

* BookDumb: Cody is ''hilariously'' incompetent at most of his new duties as Mayor of Metro City. Fortunately, Haggar seems to have planned ahead and assigned a [[HypercompetentSidekick hypercompetent]] SexySecretary named Maisie Marlowe to help him out.

** In ''SSFIV'', his Last Dread Dust Ultra begins with his trademark "[[AHandfulForAnEye kick sand in the eye routine]]". He then follows up with a wrench-aided bludgeoning, uppercuts them with said wrench, and then [[BatterUp winds up and knocks them out of the park]]... with a metal pipe.
** In ''Alpha 3'', he has attack on wakeup called [[AHandfulForAnEye Bad Spray]]. In ''SSFIV'', his newest addition to his arsenal alongside this is Zonk Knuckle, ''a sucker punch''.
** Downplayed in ''V'', where he still has his knife with him, but only pulls it out as his V-Trigger I. It seems that Haggar, in his letter to Cody as the previous mayor, told him to only use weapons in situations that require them. Same deal with lead pipes, which he can only brandish with his V-Trigger II.
* CombatSadomasochist: Since his time in jail, Cody seems to have developed a certain appreciation for dishing out and receiving pain. It's more present in [[VideoGame/StreetFighterXTekken SFxT]] due to CharacterExaggeration, but it's certainly noticeable in the main series.

* CostumeInertia: When the ''Super'' update of ''IV'' was in development, Capcom considered putting Cody back into his white shirt and blue jeans from the ''Final Fight'' series, but fans preferred his blue-and-white prison jumpsuit from ''Alpha 3''. Thus, the "striped prison uniform and handcuffs" apparel became his default outfit for all of his appearances outside of the beat-em-up trilogy he debuted in, including the crossover games and the ''Street Fighter'' UDON comics. However, in ''V'' his new default is a nice suit, since Cody is now mayor, with his prison uniform and his ''Final Fight'' clothes being selectable as alternate costumes.

* DeviousDaggers: A heroic version. A knife will mysteriously appear on the battlefield in both ''Alpha 3'' and ''SSFIV'' during Cody's matches, in reference to the original ''Final Fight'', where he was the best character with knives. In ''V'', his knife use is limited to his V-Trigger I, due to Haggar's instruction to only use weapons when absolutely necessary, despite this, he will still brandish it in his intro.
* DistractedByTheSexy: An subtle example in his ''Alpha 2'' background cameo on Guy's stage. If a female fighter happens to pass by him, his gaze will stray from Jessica and towards the character, and he'll grin. This prompts a slap in the face from Jessica.
* DullSurprise: After spending time as a jailbird, his default expression is fatigued disinterest. Just look at his bland OhCrap face in ''SSFIV'' when faced with an Ultra.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Before becoming playable in ''Alpha 3'', he made an appearance in the background of Guy's ''Alpha 2'' stage, wearing his classic ''Final Fight'' clothes and standing with Jessica.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: In ''V'', Cody now keeps his hair slicked back, adding to his cleaned up look as the new mayor of Metro City.
* FallenHero: The man who saved Metro city has fallen far... ''much'' too far. Thankfully, he's bounces back farther then he fell, going from a convict constantly in and out of jail to being ''the mayor of Metro City''.

* FreudianExcuse: Cody thoroughly denies this, saying that he has no good reason for being who he is now, and it would be too easy to come up with all sorts of justifications. According to him, he just kept fighting, and even he doesn't know why. Guy, however, thinks that there's some deeper reason that Cody adopted his [[HiddenHeartOfGold facade]].

* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Guy believes that there is still a hero somewhere deep enough within Cody. Cody, cynical as he is, doesn't appear to buy it, but both of his endings prove otherwise. Cody actually ''does'' agree with Guy over the idea that he is still a hero, but will not admit it, or even allow it to convince himself that he is not too dangerous to approach. Prior to ''V'', Mike Haggar mostly snaps him out of it, leading Cody to become mayor.
* ImNotAHeroIm: Cody considers himself "villainous". In his win quote against Bison, he says this, but feels that he still needed to take Bison down. As of ''V'', he no longer considers himself a bad guy, but he still doesn't want to be seen as a hero, just a mayor doing his job and keeping his city safe.
* InstitutionalApparel: Gets the horizontal stripes variant in ''Alpha 3'', which becomes his default outfit in the ''Street Fighter'' franchise as a whole. ''SSFIV'' gives him orange scrubs as DLC. In ''V'', where his default is instead a nice suit, and the intro to ''Arcade Edition'' shows his old prison uniform lying discarded on the ground. It's still selectable as his Nostalgia costume, though.

* JadeColoredGlasses: Many of his win quotes, particularly to those who believe in a higher power (like Dhalsim or Rose) or morals (like Guile or Gouken) or other ideals, are cynical and pessimistic observations. Some of these quotes invoke JerkassHasAPoint. Cody starts to lose this trope in ''V''.

* LighterAndSofter: His transition from criminal in ''IV'' to Mayor in ''V'' had another 180 degrees turn. Going from a total nihilist who always thought the worst of people and life in general, to a very light hearted guy who doesn't treat everyone like trash and actually feels like he can make a change. And while he isn't a complete clown and still does have his moments of brooding, he's verging on comic relief while in his new position as Mayor.

* NeverTrustATrailer: The original trailers for ''SSFIV'' depicted Cody facing Chun-Li in his Rival Battle (it'd make sense, considering that she's a cop and he's a escaped convict/vigilante), but it was changed to Guy later in development. In his ''V'' trailer he also had the below outro quote that he doesn't use in the actual game:

* NotMeThisTime: The circumstances surrounding Cody's arrest have shades of this. While he was never prosecuted for assaulting multiple thugs in clearing Metro City of the Mad Gear Gang, he did beat up a corrupt cop, Edi, along the way. Later, Poison committed several acts of assault which Edi promptly framed Cody for, landing him in jail where he developed the love of fighting that would keep him there.

* ReformedCriminal: By the time of ''V'', Cody seems to have completely turned his life around, going from being a convict to being ''mayor''. He still has a tendency to start fights for little to no reason; he beats up Abigail for simply [[DisproportionateRetribution parking illegally]], and he tries to get a second fight out of Zeku before Miss Marlowe interrupts him.

* {{Sleepyhead}}: As a jailbird, Cody has become this. In all of his appearances outside of the ''Final Fight'' series, he almost always looks exhausted. One of his victory poses as well as some of his taunts in ''SSFIV'' involve yawning, and one taunt has him flat-out ''taking a nap in the middle of the match''. Amusingly, if Cody gets a Game Over in ''SSFIV'', he will not cry out in frustration or anger; instead, he will yawn and lie down on his back to sleep. Even in ''V'', he tends to yawn a lot and is actually shown asleep and reclining in his chair during his Arcade Mode ending.

* {{Bathos}}: In one win pose, despite being hyped up and serious her sneaker flies off her foot and bops her on the head.

* BoyishShortHair: She has noticeably shorter hair than most of the female fighters in the series. At some points it even resembles [[TheHerosIdol Ryu's]] haircut.
* BreakoutCharacter: Since her debut in ''Alpha 2'', she became one of the ''Street Fighter'' series' most popular characters. It even got to the point where she won the first official ''Street Fighter'' character poll held by Capcom in 2017. Her influence can be felt beyond the franchise such as ''Marvel Vs. Capcom'', ''Puzzle Fighter'', ''Rival Schools'' and ''Monster Hunter''.

* ChargedAttack: Sakura can exchange her Hadoken's range for size by charging it (in the ''Alpha'' series this was accomplished by pressing the punch button two or three times for up to three levels while in ''IV'' just holding the punch button will enlarge the projectile but only has two levels).

* ComingOfAge: This becomes the plot focus for Sakura in ''V''. Now an adult, [[SoWhatDoWeDoNow Sakura begins to question what she wants to do with her life]] and if dedicating herself to competitive fighting is really what she wants. In her story mode, she decides after a sparring section with Ryu, that settling down and starting a family is achieving strength and fulfillment in her own right.

* DoggedNiceGirl: Not only does she still really want Ryu to train her personally, despite him telling her he could not as he still has much to learn himself, it is also heavily implied that her admiration towards Ryu has developed into full on romantic feelings by the time of ''IV'' and ''V'' -- so much that she gets embarrassed talking about having a child around him. Yet we all know that fighting is--literally--''everything'' for Ryu, so while it's obvious that he does care for her, he's not really the type to consider things like romance in the first place. Sakura remains smitten:

* GenkiGirl: She's cheerful and optimistic virtually all the time, her victory animations even seeing her jump up and down in elation.

* InterclassFriendship: She and Karin are friends despite Karin being ridiculously rich, while Sakura is middle class at best. The manga adaptation and ''Alpha 3'' reveal that this is because Sakura is responsible for handing Karin her first major defeat.

* MeaningfulName: Her given name means cherry-blossom in Japan, although it's officially spelled in hiragana (さくら). Her surname, Kasugano (春日野) means "Sunny Field in Spring".

* SatelliteCharacter: Her friend Kei, who became an AscendedExtra in the UDON comics.

* UnskilledButStrong: Her fighting style is self-taught, and she was able to use a Hadoken without any formal training. It's further demonstrated by her Hurricane Kick; while Ryu's practiced one involves him soaring through the air like a helicopter, her's is basically a spinning hop.

* {{Ojou}}: She matures into one in ''V'', running the Kanzuki Zaibatsu, arranging parties and meet-ups, and has connections with everyone in the competitive fighting world, even hiring Birdie after he defects from Shadaloo. Her old AlphaBitch qualities and competitive streak h have been toned down as well; she's on friendly terms with almost everyone who ''isn't'' working with Shadaloo, including Sakura.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Originally this was her situation with Sakura, as Sakura could still beat her despite the years she put into studying under the Kanzuki school, which drove her a little crazy. However she manages to eventually best Sakura and the two are now on relatively equal footing, cooling down Karin's constant need to be the best at everything.

* TheBeautifulElite: Karin is an elite in everything -- wealth, status, martial arts, beauty, etc. As we see in ''V'', the people with whom she associates are her equals in at least ''one'' of these respects.

* BreakTheHaughty: Interestingly, it was ''winning'' that did this for her, as her status as second-best to Sakura only amped up her desire to win and be recognized as superior. After beating Sakura, she stops being so ravenously competitive because it's the respect one earns for demonstrating great skill that is the real reward for doing well, not the recognition of simply being number one.

* CharacterDevelopment: Since she was young, Karin's father has demanded that she never be second-best at anything, as victory is the Kanzuki family creed. This led her to obsessively pursuing Sakura, who handed Karin her first definitive defeat. In ''Alpha 3'', she ran into Ken Masters (essentially her SpearCounterpart), who told her that improvement and the thrill of fighting was more important than merely winning. After finally defeating Sakura again, Karin realizes that it was a fluke victory that could have gone either way and comes to understand Ken's advice. Upon her return in ''V'', Karin has sincerely mellowed out and has made friends with both Sakura and many other top-class fighters. She often challenges them to test both her skills and theirs, but never out of raw anger or contempt.

* HypercompetentSidekick: Not that Karin isn't competent, but Shibazaki is a very trustworthy and observant assistant.

* InformedAbility: In her win quote against Dhalsim in ''V'', she basically says that she also has the ability to levitate, something that she's never been shown doing.

** Birdie qualifies, but their relationship is mostly held up by the fact that Karin provides Birdie with food and shelter while Birdie acts as a sparring partner and estate bouncer. Take those away and they probably wouldn't like each other at all.

* NonIdleRich: She has apparently become the head of the Kanzuki Zaibatsu by the time ''V'' rolls around.,

* {{Ojou}}: She matures into this role in ''V''. She now runs the Kanzuki Zaibatsu, arranges parties, meetups, and has connections with everyone in the competitive fighting world, and even hires Birdie after he defects from Shadaloo. Her old AlphaBitch qualities and competitive streak have been toned down as well; she's on friendly terms with almost everyone who ''isn't'' working with Shadaloo, including Sakura.

** In one comic continuity before she started fangirling Ryu, Sakura was a huge fan of E. Honda, the ''sumo wrestler'', and trained herself to be like him -- including lamenting just how much weight she still had to gain. She still respects Honda, as shown in her Sub Boss fight with him in ''Alpha 3''... just not so much.

** Sakura taught herself martial arts, special attacks, and Ki-based maneuvers by emulating Ryu, possibly after ''seeing him on TV''; she learned how to shoot energy blasts from her hands ''without any formal training''. Sakura is not ''against'' putting in the work, she just doesn't ''have'' to. As a fighter, she's still a serious-minded and focused individual, trying to apply Ryu's philosophy that every fight brings a new opportunity to learn, but her technique remains unrefined because she continues to apply what works for her instead of honing it (like Ryu might) because her natural talent is enough.
** This is lampshaded in the ''Sakura Ganbaru!'' manga adaptation, where, in the first few pages, Dan demonstrates his Gadoken and explains the basics of KiManipulation to Sakura. It takes her less than a minute to perform a complete (albeit still weak) version of the ''Ha''doken, and in no time at all she's using full-power versions of the technique. Seeing this, an outraged Dan pauses for a minute to comment on the absolutely ''terrifying'' potential she possesses.
** In that same manga adaptation, a Hadoken battle between Sakura and Ken ''obliterates '''AN ENTIRE CITY BLOCK.'''''
** In the ''Super Street Fighter'' comic book by UDON, this crosses into GoneHorriblyRight, where Sakura ends up (albeit briefly) tapping into the Satsui No Hado enough to get Akuma's attention through pure determination!

** She does it again (via CooldownHug) in ''Ties That Bind'' when Ryu loses himself to the Hadou after Cammy is brutalized by C. Viper. It takes a crying, pleading Sakura to calm him back into sanity.

* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack: In the ''Alpha'' series, she engages in many martial arts battles in her school uniform. In ''IV'', when she took a plane to visit Ken, she donned the outfit. She continues to wear it in ''IV'' despite having graduated some time ago. Within the most recent UDON comics, she barely uses it as a result, preferring to go with her own version of Ryu's iconic style. ''V'' finally put an end to this by giving her a new outfit and confirming that she graduated high school.

** Birdie also qualifies, but their relationship is mostly held up by the fact that Karin provides Birdie with food and shelter while Birdie acts as a sparring partner and a bouncer. Take those away and they probably wouldn't like each other at all.

* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Her outfit in ''V'' retains her classic silhouette and colour palette, but the overall look is fancier and more regal, complete with frills on her sleeves, an ascot, and black leggings. This also applies to her alternate costume, a short but very fine looking dress.
* KillSat: She commands one to destroy Shadaloo's base in her ending in ''Alpha 3''.
* LadyOfWar: In training.
* LovableAlphaBitch: She does help others on occasion, although it's more apparent when she becomes an adult. By the time of ''V'', she's still a haughty and confident fighter, but is nonetheless fairly friendly.
* MeaningfulName: Her given-name (花梨) literally means "flowering pear" in Japanese ("quince" in English). "Karin" is also a rare example of a Japanese name (along with "Naomi") that is coincidentally cross-cultural, and used in Western (mainly Germanic and Scandinavian) countries, where it means "pure" (it's a variation of "Katherine"). Her surname "Kanzuki" (神 月) is suitably arrogant in translation and literally means "Moon Deity".

* NoblewomansLaugh: As a rich, haughty beauty, Karin performs an absolutely ''perfect'' example for her intro pose in ''Alpha 3'' -- "OHHHHHHH-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho!" -- complete with her straightened palm held to the side of her mouth. She also does this at the end of her Critical Art and when she is selected in ''V'', as well as joining in on one with Enero before their battle in the latter game's Story mode.

* {{Ojou}}: She's matured into this role as of ''V''. She now runs the Kanzuki Zaibatsu, arranges parties, meetups, and has connections with everyone in the competitive fighting world, and even hires Birdie after he defects from Shadaloo. Her old AlphaBitch qualities and competitive streak have been toned down as well; she's on friendly terms with almost everyone who ''isn't'' working with Shadaloo, including Sakura.

* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Karin is amongst the least sexualised women in the series, and sports this demure look in her ''V'' design, befitting someone of her socioeconomic status.

* SmugSmiler: She holds most opponents in utter contempt, which is exemplified in-game, where she actually closes her eyes and pokes her chin out in smug, haughty amusement whilst performing many of her standard punches/kicks (Fierce is probably the best example.)

* TalentVsTraining: Karin is formally trained in her family's Kanzuki-ryu martial arts which is an amalgamation of the best techniques of other fighting styles. Her rival Sakura is a self-taught fighter whose style is an unrefined, yet still effective, imitation of Ryu's moves.

* TookALevelInKindness: In ''V''. In contrast to her being portrayed as an AlphaBitch in ''Alpha'', she's at worst a LovableAlphaBitch in ''V'' and sometimes she's really sweet. The UDON comics finally brings Karin more in line with her game counterpart at the end of the Free Comic Book Day 2019 single, where she [[DefeatMeansFriendship fully befriends Sakura.]]

* AmazonianBeauty: She's far more muscular in ''V'' than in ''Alpha'', especially her legs, which give Chun-Li's thighs a run for their money. Across the series, only the gargantuan Marisa, debuting in ''6'', is more muscular overall. Also, while Mika's always been pretty sexualized, [[FanServicePack it gets ramped up considerably in ''V'']], as her default wrestler outfit shows even more skin than in ''Alpha'', as do most of her alternate costumes, and her Critical Art -- "Peach Assault" -- has her slapping her ass before sandwiching the opponent between her and Nadeshiko's ''butt-cheeks''.

* HomeStage: The "Underground Arena" in ''V''. Being that it's a big wrestling ring set in Russia, she also shares it with Zangief.

* LargeHam: Just look at [[http://41.media.tumblr.com/e4dd505bde2f755b2874721ec03ab017/tumblr_mps5scCWNA1qd9g7oo1_500.png her win portrait]]. Justified, as she is a pro-wrestler. This is actually incorporated into her move-set in ''V'', with her V-Skill letting her pull out a microphone and pump up the crowd (and her attacks) with a passionate promo.

* LoonyFan: For Zangief. She takes this to levels that are frankly very worrying. Zangief, being a LargeHam BoisterousBruiser himself, simply thinks that her loony behavior is appropriate. In ''V'', he translates her zeal as the drive she need to attain and utilize her "[[JapaneseSpirit muscle spirit]]", which is part of the reason he allows her to become his apprentice. She also has her own LoonyFan -- [[VideoGame/StreetFighterIV El Fuerte]]. (Although only in the UDON comics, which are non-canon)

* {{Mukokuseki}}: R. Mika's Japanese nationality contrasts strongly with her unmistakably fair, Caucasian-like complexion, blonde hair and ''blue'' eyes. She's the series most extreme example, especially as it sticks to established phenotypes on the whole. It also didn't help that her name, Mika, is also used in Eastern European and Scandinavian countries as a diminutive of "Mikhaila" and its variants, and so given her look and connections with Zangief, many Western sources established her as ''Russian'' when she initially debuted.
