* LivingAphrodesiac: Like Orions, they give off pheromones as a matter of course. They usually use it for calming others down, but the effect on humans who get the amorous effect full-blast is bad; either severe dissociative jonesing for more, or just becoming an EmptyShell. Only humans with an insane level of HeroicWillpower can ignore or survive it, which is why Deltans politely try to avoid sex around humans.

* AbsoluteXenophobe: Long ago, they decided they weren't having with any of those aliens coming to their turf. Anyone who sets foot on Rigel VII tends to get killed the minute they're found. Their name "Kalar", is because it's about the only thing anyone hears. It's their battle-cry.
* FreudianExcuse: The Kalar's bad attitude toward aliens comes about from their first encounter with their planetary neighbours.

* TheExile: Species-wide. They were originally native to Rigel IV, but after the development of interplanetary travel there was a war, which they lost. The end result was the entire species getting dumped on Rigel VII.

* CultureClash: Occasionally suffers some of the difficulties that might be expected of a predatory dinosaur creature, such as an instinctive need to play with his food, or not getting why Troi's so determined to keep a baby which she already knows is dead when a Pahkwa-thanh would just crack the egg and eat the unborn fetus.

* TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes: In the aftermath of ''Before Dishonor', she does a little reflection and figures she's suffering from a number of personality issues, and if she was one of her own patients she'd can her ass in a second.

to:

* {{Sucksessor}}: Much much less capable in her role as ship's counselor than Deanna Troi.

* FantasticRacism: The divide between the regular Klingons and the [=QuchHa=] in the 22nd century, with the later even nearly being denied citizenship, nearly resulting in a full-blown civil war.

* NoWomansLand: After Azetbur's chancellorship, the conservative faction that arranged her death blamed her for everything and made it official that no woman could hold political power again, an edict that remained in place up until Martok's time.

!Kamarag

The Klingon Ambassador to the Federation in ''Film/StarTrekIVTheVoyageHome'' and ''The Undiscovered Country''. In keeping with his attitude in the films, he's very much an AssInAmbassador, and thinks very little of humans - Kirk in particular.

!Kaarg

Chancellor after Azetbur's assassination.

* KlingonPromotion: Helped kill Azetbur, leaving the way open for him.
* {{Sucksessor}}: Ambitious enough to murder his way to the top, but not enough to do much once he got the job, going down in history as a pretty lackluster chancellor.

Chancellor of the Empire after Sturka and before Gorkon.

* TheGhost: Mentioned in ''Living Memory'', but he doesn't make an on-page appearance.

* DroppedABridgeOnHim: We don't see his death in ''Destiny'', merely the aftermath as Martok examines the ruins of the capitol.

%%* BlueAndOrangeMorality* BlueAndOrangeMorality: A little from human perspective. Being egg laying beings, a Pahkwa-thanh's attachment to their young only starts at hatching, and they have difficulty wrapping their head around mammalian pregnancy. If a Pahkwa-than has a stillbirth, they'll just eat the egg rather than spend time lamenting.

* TheParalyzer: Their bite contains a venom to incapacitate prey so they can drag it back to the lair without killing it. Live food tastes better. It can also be used in a medical emergency to sedate uncooperative patients, though admittedly this is a bit "last resort".

* SinsOfOurFathers: Several generations after the disaster that was [[Literature/StarTrekVanguard Project Vanguard]], many Tholians still hold a grudge against the Federation. They're totally willing to let the Borg burn down the entire Alpha Quadrant in spite rather than lift an appendage to help them, and were seriously considering helping the process along.

* AdvancedAncientAcropolis: Their capital city, Axion.

* AdvancedAncientAcropolis: Their capital city, Axion.

* CivilizationDestroyer: They're not above displacing ''entire species'' to other galaxies just go get them out of the way. The only reason they don't do this to the Federation when the ''Titan'' finds them is because they realize this would just turn into a RevealingCoverUp, since they'd have to disappear everyone else who knows about the Federation in the process.

* FreudianExcuse: Their bad experiences with other "younger" species is what fuels their isolationism.

* HorrorHunger: A Caeliar deprived of their advanced tech becomes a mindless ''thing'' of all-consuming hunger, which feeds on whatever's nearby until it's sated.

[[spoiler:A group of Caeliar travelled to a distant galaxy with some time travel, and when the Caeliar of the 22nd century tried contacting them, blew up their home system in response so as to create the circumstances that caused them to jump in the first place.]]

to:

* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: The example mentioned in Stable Time Loop also kicks a Caeliar city back a few hundred years to a backwater planet in the Delta Quadrant. [[spoiler:The remaining Caeliar goes mad from hunger, and becomes the foundation for the Borg.]]

* DivideAndConquer: V'Las figured their goal via him had been to make the Vulcan people more militaristic in preparation for conquest. Then he changed his mind, figuring what the Romulans had ''actually'' been doing was undermining the Alpha Quadrant powers so they could conquer them all when they were weakened. (Given the Romulans, there's the high likelihood these were both their plan.)

* SpaceColdWar: With the Federation, ever since the Federation was founded. Praetor Neral's government allied with the Federation during the Dominion War, but he was overthrown a year and a half after the war by Hiren, just as he was about to take steps to render the alliance permanant. Praetor Kamemor's government has come the closest to reconciliation with the Federation, despite being part of the Typhon Pact, an alliance in its own UsefulNotes/ColdWar with the Federation's Khitomer Accord Alliance.

to:

* LackOfEmpathy: Not a lack, but being in the Syndicate means most of it was burnt or beaten out of her years ago. An encounter with some Deltans gives it a reboot, much to her alarm. Even then, she has no problem throwing another Orion under the bus to deflect suspicion.
