As per this thread, Buster doesn't fit the criteria for Took A Level In Jerkass, since his character flaws are established right away at the start of Sing and remain pretty consistent throughout both films, and he doesn't fit the criteria for The Unfettered either, because while he can be impulsive and single-minded about accomplishing his goals, he isn't an outright sociopath. While this entry is very critical of Buster, the second half of it also tends to whitewash Jimmy Crystal's actions and motivations throughout Sing 2, since the way he treats the Moon Theater troupe can most definitely be considered bullying, even before he finds out about Buster's lie, and his repeated attempts to hunt down and kill off the whole gang have less to do with Buster struggling to make good on his word (or Porsha feeling slighted later on), and are mostly brought on by Jimmy's belief that people who wound his pride or put his reputation at risk deserve to die wholeheartedly.

* TheUnfettered: The lengths Buster goes to to be successful in the show business are pretty excessive.
** In the first film, other than stealing electricity and water to maintain his theater, he lies to all the contestants about the prize he is offering to keep them invested in his project. Then, when his inability to maintain his theater backfires leading to its destruction and foreclosure, he puts up his show by force in spite of the bank's protest.
** In the second film he doubles down on his antics, this time for no reason other than his ambition to go bigger. He sneaks into Crystal Entertainment after being told "no" by the receptionist and uses lie upon lie to maintain his partnership with Jimmy Crystal and the production crew. Then, when Jimmy catches up with his plan, cancels everything and is called to explain publicly what happened with his failed show, Buster convinces everyone that they should just hijack Jimmy's enormous theater and put up the show by force just to go against Jimmy's "bullying" and have their hopes and dreams realised. Jimmy trying to kill Buster may have been too much of a reaction, but he still had some pretty good reasons to be outraged.

Honestly, your descriptions fit The Unfettered much better. There are little to no signs that Buster has become worse between movies; at worst, his methods being more extreme could be a mild case of Flanderization

Added example(s) This trope fits Buster Moon pretty well. I provide from both films several examples of why.

* InsecureProtagonistArrogantAntagonist: He has this kind of dynamic with Jimmy Crystal in the second film. Underneath a cheery smile and a positive attitude, Buster carries around his fair share of fear and self-doubt. Until the Moon Theater troupe was formed, he was never able to find success in his field of work and was considered to be a laughingstock by his peers. And even after the Moon crew have become local stars, they still have trouble getting people outside of Calatonia to take them seriously, so Buster is eager for them to have a chance to prove themselves in the second film. By contrast, Jimmy Crystal is a rich and famous celebrity, who frequently looks down on others and never doubts himself. Jimmy is used to getting his way all the time, and eventually he's revealed to be so arrogant and prideful that [[spoiler:he's willing to straight-up murder people as retribution for his image being threatened.]]

He encourages them to try new things and strive to reach their full potential as performers (in spite of their fears or their troubles that might be holding them back), he's always happy to see them succeed whenever they do manage to shine onstage, and by the second film, he even has framed pictures of them resting inside of his office in Moon Theater. After the way they bonded in the first movie, Buster is shown to be especially close to Ash and Meena.

** In general, it's implied that part of the reason why Johnny has grown increasingly loyal towards (and later protective of) the other animals in the theater troupe is because of the kindness they've shown him ever since they met in the first film. * GreaserDelinquents: Johnny usually dresses like a [[HellBentForLeather leather-jacketed]] 1950's greaser, and he is indeed a teenage delinquent when we're first introduced to him, since he's been raised by gangsters to follow in their footsteps. However, even after he decides to walk away from a life of crime and pursue an honest career as a singer and pianist, he still decides to keep his signature look going forward, as seen in ''Sing 2'' and the franchise's various comedy shorts.

However, even after he decides to walk away from a life of crime and pursue an honest career as a singer and pianist, he still decides to keep his signature look going forward, as seen in ''Sing 2'' and the franchise's various comedy shorts. And he's shown on multiple occasions that he's still willing to help his friends with some of their less-than-legal ideas.

* InsecureProtagonistArrogantAntagonist: He has this kind of dynamic with Klaus in the second film. Johnny is a mild-mannered young man who, despite being a talented singer, carries around a lot of self-doubt about whether he'll ever be able to live up to Redshore City’s high standards, or master the art of dancing. Klaus, by contrast, is a very haughty and pompous older man, who's held a high reputation in his field of work for years and firmly believes that his approach to dancing is the only one that's worthwhile. He makes no attempt to hide his disdain for Johnny as the weakest link in his class, puts him down at every opportunity for failures, and grows very resentful of him later, when he manages to improve as a dancer without using his methods. [[spoiler:This conflict is eventually resolved when Johnny manages to get the better of him onstage: Johnny proves to himself that he does have what it takes to be a real performer, while Klaus is thoroughly humbled by the experience and left to rethink some of his deeply held beliefs.]]

Break Up To Make Up TRS cleanup.

* BreakUpToMakeUp: In the beginning, Ash used to follow Lance's lead, dressing the same all while rarely getting to sing lead or play her own songs despite being a supposed team. This came down to her insecurities regarding her talent and worthiness, exacerbated by Lance's putdowns of whatever meager contributions he'd allow her to do. Following the pain of a broken heart, she's momentarily paralyzed as she has never had the respite to make her own decisions. Once she gets the handle, Ash blows expectations out of the water, performing her own song of her own authorship at the destroyed Moon theater without the need for a partner. Come the second film, she's happier, bolder and on the prowl for major success.

A porcupine punk rocker. In the first film, Ash tries out with her boyfriend, Lance, but only she gets picked. She later breaks up with him after catching him "auditioning" with another girl, presumably to take her place, which she overcomes through writing her own song. In the second film she, alongside Buster, set out to find reclusive rock star, Clay Calloway, who Ash is also a huge fan of, to get him to perform in Buster's new show after he lies about knowing him.

She later breaks up with him after catching him "auditioning" cheating on her with another musician porcupine girl, presumably largely due to take her place, getting picked while he didn’t, which she overcomes through writing her own song.
