* ObfuscatingStupidity: Perhaps it's because of his stature and very friendly and laid back nature, he looks like he's constantly clueless, but it has been shown many times he is very much aware what happens in his school and that he cares very much for his students. He is also a very competent and practical person to have around, being able to do many things almost effortlessly like relieving the absent Nakajima-sensei at the equestrian club, assisting in the birth of calves and making home made soba noodles, to name a few.

* BookDumb: To an extent. She's not very good at studying. Apparently, she is only slightly better than Tokiwa. Her grades are actually pretty decent, though. Just somewhere between 60-70% on most subjects. Not terribly bad, but definitely not good enough for her to go to her university of choice.

* CityMouse: And yet he went to an agricultural school. HilarityEnsues, though he gets used to it.

* BookDumb: She was not able to get into Yezo Agricultural High. Especially considering how Tokiwa managed to get in, despite his deficiencies
** It's to the point that even with extensive tutoring from Shingo, she only manages to get 2s across all her subjects.
