* BadassNormal: At least due to being untouchable in gameplay--and during these segments, he's quite capable of taking out the monsters with relative ease. In-story, he does manage to get himself out of quite a few rough spots without outside help, though eventually events catch up to him.

In-story, he does manage to get himself out of quite a few rough spots without outside help, though eventually events catch up to him. Even so, he remains the only surviving active police officer of Shepherd's Glen battling the monsters through the game.

* ConspiracyTheorist: An eyeroll-worthy one at times... unless you get a certain ending.UFO ending. His paranoia is also proven to be correct that strange things are happening in the town, notices the signs early and takes precautions, becoming the best prepared for the monsters as a result, the last cop remaining alive on the police force, and the most competent of the supporting characters to Alex.

* OneManArmy: Most of the monsters of the Fog World and Otherworld don't stand a chance against him, or particularly phase him.

* OneManArmy: Most of the monsters of the Fog World and Otherworld don't stand a chance against him, or particularly phase him. He adapts quickly to his bizarre situation and keeps kicking ass.

Wheeler isn't an incompetent Miles Gloriosus type who makes others look better, nor is he ridiculous or outright goofy, he is serious most of the time. He is very capable, smart, and his 'paranoia' is proven correct. He is courageous and the most prepared and competent of the supporting characters. Doesn't fit the trope well. He's already in the YMMV section for Base Breaking Character, no sense bringing that here.

* UncleTomfoolery: His comic relief antics does come across as a bit stereotypical at times. That he is the TokenMinority and has ConspiracyTheorist tendencies does not really help matters.

What makes it this trope is that he ''clearly'' has a conscience and feels bad about the abuse he puts him through.]]

* SkewedPriorities: Sometimes, Alex seems to be out of touch with the situation at hand, for instance, wondering why the abandoned cars in Shepherd's Glen haven't been towed for being so dilapidated and clearly inoperable. The thing is, the town has monsters lurking about and is inescapable due to chasms in the roads out of town.

* ImpliedLoveInterest: She and Alex are clearly close, and it seems like there may be something else between them. Elle seems to be the most overt about it though, mostly in her theme song, and Alex gives more subtle implications that he feels that way. The scenes they share when they meet again, and then on the boat, and at the end of the normal ending imply it the most.

* TheNotLoveInterest: She and Alex are clearly close, and it seems like there may be something else between them. Elle seems to be the most overt about it though, mostly in her theme song, and Alex never gives any implication that he feels that way.
