As with many Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, VideoGame/RuneScape possesses a large number of pets the player can keep. The pets can be separated into two groups. The first group are the interface pets, which can only be accessed through the game's customization interface. The second group are the object pets, which exist in the game as objects and usually when dropped by the player will proceed to follow them.

* ADogNamedDog: Many pets don't have real names, with Lazy/Wily Cats and the Baby Troll being notable exceptions. Many Companion and Legendary also avert this through the Pet Interface.
* ActualPacifist: Just barely subverted, since aside from cats; who can only attack rats, and Legendary pets with the ability Slayer Finisher active, pets can't fight at all.
* AllAnimalsAreDomesticated: All pets are fully domesticated and safe for the player to have.
* GratuitousAnimalSidekick: Who would expect an adventuring hero to travel around with kittens, puppies, chicks and other baby or otherwise cute animals?
* NonHumanSideKick: Self explanatory since these are your pets.
* PetInterface: The interface pets which can be found in these categories Follower, Companion, Legendary, Boss and Skilling.
* UndyingLoyalty: No matter what the pet's alignment is, they are nothing, but loyal to the player.

A unique group of interface pets that are in essence similar to the Follower and Companion pets at first glance. Unlike the after mentioned categories in the pet interface Legendary pets have abilities that the player can select which can help them in game unlike most other pets.
----
* ExtremeOmnivore: Legendary pets with the ability Fertiliser can spawn Mod Daze's homework or Mod Dolan's rubber duck along with the usual droppings, suggesting that the players pet has previously eaten said objects.
* FinishingMove: Legendary pets with the ability Slayer Finisher active can finish off slayer monsters for the player. This means that Legendary pets can subvert the ActualPacifist trope as seen in the above folder.
* LotsOfLuggage: Downplayed, Legendary pets with the ability Beast of Burden active can carry items for the player. How much it can carry depends on which familiar pouch; of a familiar also with the ability, is used on it.

* HealingFactor: It's implied that he can regenerate lost body parts, though he's confessed to have never needing to try.
* ShoutOut: Has a few.

The Attack Skilling Pet.
----
* BlindfoldedVision / HandicappedBadass: Currently it is unknown if Sifu is really blind or notMeaning one of these tropes is a SubvertedTrope., but what is known is that by being blind(ed) he has learned to use his other senses in it's place.
->Sifu: "To know when to strike, all senses are important, not just sight."
->Player: "Are you actually blind?"
->Sifu: "Whether I am blind or not matters not. Without sight, I train myself to use other ways to perceive so that sight may not matter. The sound of a lurch, the smell of the assailant, the pressure of the air changing on my scales as the weapon whizzes by. I am acutely aware of my position and environment, freed of visual distractions."
* Koan: Speaks in these.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: Declared as a dragon in concept art and clearly looks much like a classic Asian dragon.

!SummoningSince some of these pets are now part of the game's customization interface as Followers, the two groups are separated.

Though pets existed in the game before the Summoning skill, most were added to the game along with the skill and as such require player to be at a curtain level before they can be owned. Most of these pets also serve no purpose beyond being decorative, though there are exceptions.
----
* SummonMagic: Zig-Zagged, all if not most of the pets are neither teleported or created to you, but the Summoning Skill is still a major requirement to own them.

Once the player reaches level 33 in Summoning the player can understand the Broav.
----
* CannotTellAJoke: About half of the conversations with the Broav involve it trying to tell a joke.
* FollowYourNose: Implied to have been exploited in order to catch it.
* FullBoarAction: Averted, despite appearances the Broav is incapable of fighting like most pets.
* GluttonousPig: Unsurprisingly one conversation with the Broav has it demand that you give it some food.
* TheNoseKnows: How it knows when the player has food. It's able to find Movario's Base: in the quest you acquire the Broav, While Gothic Sleeps by sniffing Movario's dirty laundry.
* ShoutOut: Too WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 when the player talks to it.
->Broav: "I eat like a pig."
->Player: "You are a pig!"
->Broav: "That's MR. Pig to you!"
* ScarilyCompetentTracker: Is able to find Movario's Base, in the quest you acquire the Broav While Gothic Sleeps.

----
* BritsLoveTea: A few conversations with the player involve the dog wanting tea. This is likely a reference to Bulldogs having originated from England or its other name the British Bulldog.
* CanineCompanion
* DogsAreDumb: Appears to have shades of this in the conversation with the player when the player has tea.
-->Bulldog: "Give us a sip of that tea, pet, I'm parched!"

* PowerPincers: Presumably since it's a crab, though like most pets it can't fight.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Fish
* YouKnowImBlackRight: The pet seems to have this reaction when the player talks to it while wearing a "Crab Claw" or "Crab Helmet".

* LootBoxes: If released to the East of Oo'glog the Platypus can leave behind a casketOr alternatively a oyster., which can give a player various objects.

* EnergyAbsorption: The Rune Guardian feeds off of the energy from a Runecrafting Altar.
* FamilyOfChoice: Despite being some sort of Golem; thus having no biological family, and being a relatively recent creation of the apprentice wizard Clerval it sees the older Entrance Guardian as a sibling.
* GemTissue: Its eyes are emeralds.
* Golem: Made mostly out Pure/Rune Essence, which is a kind of stone.
* ProverbialWisdom: Speaks like this quite a bit.
->"Have you ever thought that, when you examine an item, that item is also examining you?"
* SimpleStaff: Like all other Rune Guardians it carries a staff, which may or may not be magic.

A pet players can receive from the Tooth Fairy after completing A Fairy Tale III - Battle At Ork's Rift quest and bringing her 5 special kinds of teethKebbit teeth, a suqah tooth, an old tooth, monkey dentures and a human tooth.. Owning one completes the Milky Teeth achievement, which is also a requirement to own "Master Quest Cape".
----
* BornOfMagic: Created by using FTM Fairy Tooth Magic makes it an example of this.
* CanineCompanion: Surprisingly this seems to be the case due to its similar appearance to the Tooth Creature named Gnarly, who's implied to have been grown from the tooth of a Terror Dog.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Does not like candy since it rots teeth, which is what the Tooth Creature is made of.
* Hellhound: Surprisingly this seems to be the case due to its similar appearance to the Tooth Creature named Gnarly, who's implied to have been grown from the tooth of a Terror Dog.
* TheToothHurts: The decayed variant is likely this since it's acknowledged as being made of teeth.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: MilkFeeding the Tooth Creature regular milk will result in it becoming a healthy adult while chocolate milk will result in it becoming a decayed adult. and vegetables, though the last one can't be given to the Tooth Creature.
* UnreliableIllustrator: Despite being implied to have been grown from the tooth of a Terror Dog the Tooth Creature looks more like a goat or sheep.

Three different variants exist for this pet such as the blue, brown and grey. Raw fish is also used to feed it. Once the player reaches level 40 in Summoning the player can understand the Penguin.
----
* EverythingsBetterWithPenguins: Arguably this is why this pet exists.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: For some reason you need to be at level 40 Summoning to understand this pet, despite the fact there are no requirements for speaking with other penguins.
* OrcRaisedByElves: This pet is the offspring of the penguins from the Cold War quest who want to take over Gielinor.

* TheEeyore: Is perpetually depressed as an adult, which is noted by the player.

----
* BribingYourWayToVictory: Unless you're lucky, players will probably need to pay to increase their chances of getting these pets.
* Microtransactions: Player would likely need to purchase keysSpins in Squeal Of Fortune. to increase their chances of getting these pets.
* PromotionalPowerlessPieceOfGarbage: Many of these pets are hard to get and don't help you at all in the game itself.

A prize from the Squeal Of Fortune between the 6th and 16th of September 2013 during the Golden Chinchompa promotion. After the 16th of September 2013 the pet was removed from the game when its promotion ended, though on October the 2nd an alternate version of this pet could be acquired at Solomon's General Store.

Much like other breeds of Chinchompa the Golden Chinchompa can explode only in its case it rewards the player that raised it with various items.
----
* HavingABlast: Like most other Chinchompa breeds they can explode.
* PGExplosives: When the Golden Chinchompa explodes it can leave behind various objects, but no signs of LudicrousGibs.
* MainliningTheMonster: Pretty much why this pet existed, it created various objects when it explodes.
* SolidGoldPoop: Possibly since the Golden Chinchompa claims that it will turn into a chinchompafly and leave behind lots of gold for the playerThough other items can be gained from the chinchompa exploding as well., the player doubts this though.
* TemporaryOnlineContent: This version of the pet was completely removed from the game after the 16th of September, though a lookalike became available in a Solomon's General Store shortly after.

Originally the Hype Train was as object based pet, but in late May 2016 the Hype Train was converted into a Follower interface pet.
----
* CoolTrain: It's a little train that follows the player around.
* LivingToys: Due to its small size, the fact it appears to be completely made of wood and the fact it's completely autonomous it's likely one of these.
* RealTime: Becomes more active as the system update time counts down.
* TheSpeechless: Though capable of making noise as a train it doesn't talk, though the player does talk to it.

A rare prize from the Squeal Of Fortune and later Treasure Hunter once it was removed. Originally when won if players don't want him had the option of having him converted into 500,000 coins. Skully according to some of his dialogue owes his undead nature to a curse that was placed upon him.

Originally Skully was as object based pet, but in late May 2016 Skully was converted into a Follower interface pet.
----
* BlackComedy: Every conversation with him has this.
* Curse: Is apparently cursed to live forever.
* DemBones: Just a skull and spine.
* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: As one can see in his image his eyes glow green.
* IdTellYouButThenIdHaveToKillYou: Played With, since Skully never said he'd tell the player how he gets around without legs, he'd show them.

A rare prize from the Squeal Of Fortune and later Treasure Hunter once it was removed. Not much is known about the Tumbleweed's history, but some removed examine text suggests it likes the player's jokes.

Originally the Tumbleweed was as object based pet, but in late May 2016 the Tumbleweed was converted into a Follower interface pet.
----
* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Its examine text in the player's inventory; back when it was a object pet, suggests this.
->"Always appreciates your jokes, even if others don't."
* NotSoImaginaryFriend: The Tumbleweed may be this mixed with RealAfterAll if the Player Character's dialogue is any indication since the Tumbleweed is apparently capable of surprise. Though the PlayerCharacter could just be a CloudCuckooLander and imagined it.
-->Tumbleweed: "…!"

Felix is a pet cat that could originally be gained by playing Treasure Hunter during one of the Catwalk promotions, though he can now be claimed in the Marketplace. Much of Felix's history is unknown. What is known is that Felix is in fact not native to Gielinor, but is from one of the fragments of Renmark, specifically the Land Of Sunlight. It's also, unknown how he ended up in Gielinor. Felix has a total of 5 different fur color variants for the player to select for Felix: Tabby, GingerUnlocked after getting the full meowsketeer outfit., SiameseUnlocked after getting the full meowsketeer outfit, Blue ShorthairUnlocked with it's token. and SnowyshorthairUnlocked by purchasing One Special Day Bundle.. Along with the fur variants Felix also be customized with the individual components of 6 different outfits.
----
* AccessoryWearingCartoonAnimal: Pretty much his main theme as a pet, players can dress him up in various outfits or even just use different components of said outfits.
* AlienAnimals: Technically all cats in Gielinor are this as a speciesThey were brought over by Guthix.. Felix; however, takes this even further since he's literally from another world called Renmark.
* CoolSword: A few of his outfits feature swords.
* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: The Sameowrai and Sameowrai (Prestige) outfits.
* ShoutOut: Has a few.
** His very appearance seems to be one to the title character of Literature/PussInBoots.
** His default name appears to be one too Franchise/FelixTheCat.
* TalkingAnimal: Unlike regular cats the player does not need an Amulet Of Catspeak to understand Felix. Felix also does not appear to be wearing an Amulet Of Humanspeak.
