* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: Ralphie, for the most part, gets away scot-free for his atrocious actions. It isn't until the last episode where he's finally arrested and unceremoniously killed by Perfect Bidoof.

* HumbleHero: Well, not totally. However, he does at least acknowledge those who helped him become the man he is today, with special thanks to his greatest rival... [[TheRival Blue]].

Added DiffLines:

* HeroAntagonist: Against Ralphie as the head of the case to track him down.

* AndIMustScream: He's spent the last twenty years without evolving to his Butterfree form or even receiving medical treatment. He's shown to be covered in bruises and scars. The only move he can use is ''STRUGGLE'' and damages himself with the recoil of this. The worst part is that Ralphie could have taken him to a Pokecenter and instantly healed him free of charge at any time during the last two decades, but didn't.

* {{Determinator}}: It wasn't taken to the Pokecenter for twenty years because Ralphie was convinced it didn't need healing, it needed payback! The Metapod itself did not agree

* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Ralphie, like Rusty, is an emotionally unstable terrible trainer with HighHopesZeroTalent. However, Ralphie is a grown man who wants to be seen as Red's rival with a Metapod he neglects, as opposed to a child who idolizes Red and is unwittingly abusive trainer to his Kakuna before it evolved.

* EvilAllAlong: At first, it's ambiguous if Ralphie is just a terrible person or if he is just so stupid that he honestly doesn't realise what he is doing. Over the course of the series, though, it's pretty clear that while he's certainly stupid, he is fully aware that he broke the law by kidnapping Todd and that people are dying as a result of his actions, and just doesn't give a damn. [[spoiler: When confronted with his complete incompetence as a trainer, Ralphie realizes he should focus on what he is truly good at. Killing people.]]

to:

* VillainProtagonist: Ralphie commits a lot of crimes and causes a lot of pain to Todd in his quest to get a rematch with Red.
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Plus ralphie was more of a jerk and while rusty had his jerk moments; he was still stupidly more ignorant to the trouble he caused than ralphie was

* TheKindnapper: Kidnaps Red's son Todd so as to gain a re-match from him. Todd is so embarrassed by Ralphie's ineptitude that he agrees to train Ralphie out of pity.
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
they Are both ignorant of the trouble they cause but rusty had a heel realisation as well and the other rusty turned good

* GoodCounterpart: Believe it or not, to [[spoiler:Rusty. Most of what he causes is because of delusion, and depression, and, had Rusty not killed him, he would've pulled a HeelFaceTurn. This is opposed to Rusty being a VillainProtagonist all throughout his adventure]].
