* BewareTheNiceOnes: She might be the nicest character around, but test her patience far enough and she can prove surprisingly assertive. Some of Jun's possible narration has him in awe of how terrifying she can be when mad.

* TheNicknamer: On Eda's recommendation to nickname people she's close to, Remi started calling her Eddie. She later appoints Bones as Laurie after [[spoiler:he saves Jun yet again]].
* TheRunaway: She was once adopted into a family that believed girls should StayInTheKitchen, so she ran off to live on the streets. It's telling that this is one of the ''least'' traumatic aspects of her past.

* SorryThatImDying: [[spoiler:According to a Lee clan member, her final words for Jun were apologizing for not being by his side to the end, as she passes away just before he leaves for Phoenix.]]

* {{Hypocrite}}: As Jun points out [[spoiler:via lumen sprite should you do the translation]], Eda chides him for being impulsive but has no more regard for her own safety than he does.

* OnlySaneMan: She has her moments, next to the honour-driven Jun and overprotective Remi, such as when Remi tells Jun to watch Eda's back and Jun responds in the affirmative only for Eda to point out that they're all in seatbelts. Inverted and PlayedForDrama where searching for Red is concerned, however, as Jun and Remi more than once try to temper her emotional decision-making.

* {{Tsundere}}: Mild case and ''dere'' more often than not, but she defaults to snark when embarrassed over Jun's sappiness, including at one point muttering for him to just go back to East Ocean already.

* ILetGwenStacyDie: The Gwen Stacy in this case--Jun frequently remembers and blames himself for Kay's death.

* ManlyFacialHair: Easily identified by his beard, and he stands out as the largest character in the cast as well as one of the few Lumen War veterans.

* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Has some shades of this; it's mentioned that for an East Ocean warrior like him, being wheelchair-bound would be the same as death to him. More than one line also establishes that Kay adheres strictly to East Ocean-brand honour (e.g. disapproving of underground arenas), compared to Jun who's potentially more willing to adjust to Thousand Peaks' culture.

* SupportingProtagonist: His personal struggles are as significant to the story as Eda's, but [[spoiler:once the Red Chamber crew makes a major discovery, therefore publicly redeeming Jun,]] the main goal driving the plot is Eda's search for Red.

* BeautifulSingingVoice: She has one, unsurprisingly. It's not just Jun's bias either--a few events can have her sing for the public.

* {{Determinator}}: Ends up deconstructed. [[spoiler:Her drive to find Red ends up making her rash and not think thigs through properly with her stubbornness eventually putting not only her, but Jun and Remi in mortal peril]].

* HatesBeingAlone: As Red called her out on, her greatest fear is being left behind.

* ThePromise: At the Lumen Ziggurat she promises Jun that if they ever leave Thousand peaks then she will take him to her homeworld to show him the flowers that always bloom there. [[spoiler:And even though she presumably died, in the end she managed to keep it in a way]].

* SourOutsideSadInside: She can be quite mean, but at the end of the day, she's just a sad and lonely child, not unlike Jun and Eda.

* TeenGenius: She's the youngest member of the cast but one of the most knowledgeable, and Jun describes her as the best pilot he's known.

* {{Tsundere}}: Hinted at from the item description when buying a wrench. She acts angry and disappointed, but Jun could swear that she almost seemed appreciative afterwards.

* {{Tsundere}}: Hinted at from the item description when buying a wrench. She acts angry and disappointed, but Jun could swear that she almost seemed appreciative afterwards. Ultimately zig-zagged: it's initially subverted as [[spoiler:her vitriol towards Jun isn't for show; she hates him enough to try and get him killed. However, she later has a change of heart, and while her attitude never really changes, it's implied she cares for him by the end]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: While their relationship is genuinely strained in places, Jun's narration mentions that he looks back fondly on the days he'd bicker with her.

* DefectorFromDecadence: It eventually becomes clear that at this point, he's loyal to ''Jun'' rather than to the Lee Clan, after growing disillusioned with all of the latter's infighting and seeing Jun as its only hope of redemption. He declined the chance to serve the current head, instead choosing to follow Jun into exile.

to:

* PapaWolf: Though officially Jun's subordinate, he essentially serves as a ParentalSubstitute towards him and is fiercely protective.
* SacrificialLamb: His death firmly establishes what the tone will be like for the rest of the game.
* UndyingLoyalty: Towards Jun, complete with an actual vow of fealty.

* EveryoneHasStandards: He points out that it's more than a little messed up how Jun's own family is trying to have him killed.

* StarterVillain: He's the first obstacle of the series, both in terms of Jun and co. having to escape his base and then dealing with the bounty he put on their heads for about a chapter.

* BlueBlood: He is of noble blood and has to constantly deal with his clans constant infighting.
* {{Determinator}}: While a hothead, he also someone far tougher and determined than what you might first gleam from him. Apparently it is a trait of all nobles, not buckling for a second when exposed to a JackBauerInterrogationTechnique.
* TheExile: He was exiled from his clan and home system after an incredibly minor slight against the Emperor.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: He suffers from serious self worth issues as a result of things just never seeming to go his way. Whenever he tries his best, it always seems to find a way to blow up in his face.
* IdiotHero: Not so much an idiot as horribly impulsive which often puts him into some quite sticky situations.
* IWillWaitForYou: [[spoiler:After Eda disappears to Phoenix, he decides to wait a full 66 years for the comet to return in it's orbit. all to meet Eda again]].

!!Edalune

* AffectionateNickname: Few characters ever refer to her full name, mostly referring to her as Eda or Eddie.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: She was bullied a lot by other witch candidates as a child, often being called a liar and the like due to her unique sensitivity to Lumen.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She might be the nicest character around, but test her patience far enough and she can prove surprisingly assertive.
* CantCatchUp: [[spoiler:It is revealed that in her past she was desperate to catch up to the other witch apprentices, only to be held back by her throat injury. It eventually is reveled to be her driving character flaw. She is so caught up in trying to be like others that she fails to not only for her own ideals, but also endangering others while chasing others]].
* {{Determinator}}: Ends up deconstructed. [[spoiler:Her drive to find Red ends up making her rash and not think thigs through properly with her stubbornness eventually putting not only her, but Jun and Remi in mortal peril]].
* EtTuBrute: [[spoiler:While she herself was not the target of the betrayal, she is nonetheless appalled when Remi gave Jun faulty information and left him for dead to the point that she refuses to allow Remi to refer to her by her nickname]].
* GameBreakingInjury: She has suffered a pretty severe injury to her throat which makes it so that she can't sing properly without a voice aid.
* HappilyAdopted: After being rejected by the other witches she was taken in and adopted by Red and proceeded to live a quite happy life. That is until the military tried to draft her.
* IWillFindYou: A big motivator for her is to find the Banshee excavation crew which her mentor and adoptive mother Red was part of that went missing years before.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:As they attempt to leave Banshee she ends up realizing that her stubbornness in finding her master put others into mortal danger as the Red Chamber is falling apart all around them after having been hit by debris from the comet]].
* OhMyGods: As she follows the Myrian religion she uses "Myria Everlasting" in a similar way to "oh my god".
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:While normally friendly and amicable, she does not take Remi leaving Jun for dead very well with her straight up demanding that she refers to her as Captain from here on out despite having been against in in the past]].
* ThePromise: At the Lumen Ziggurat she promises Jun that if they ever leave Thousand peaks then she will take him to her homeworld to show him the flowers that always bloom there. [[spoiler:And even though she presumably died, in the end she managed to keep it in a way]].
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:She ends up wounded and stranded within the comet Phoenix as it is heading out of the Thousand Peaks system in its 66 year orbit. When Jun finds it again, it is pretty clear that she is dead even though her body is never seen]].
* YouAreNumberSix: Before she was given her proper name of Edalune by Red she was simply known as number #108.

!!Remi Dorian

* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:She was the victim of a human trafficking ring, and even after she was rescued by a friendly United Mining soldier she ended up on the streets, having to forge illegal documents for food]].
* DartboardOfHate: Keeps a dartboard with a photo of Jun on it in her room.
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[spoiler:In her past she was called Snake Eyes when trapped in a human trafficking situation due to her piercing stare]].
* {{Hackette}}: On top of managing the ship, she is also skilled in hacking. A skill she puts to use to [[spoiler:spy on Jun's messages. Though unfortunately, [[OutOfContextEavesdropping this doesn't give her the full context]]]].
* KilledOffScreen: [[spoiler:She dies sometime just before the epilogue, presumably of old age]].
* MuggleBestFriend: She is a normal human helping her best friend Eda, a witch, in any way that she can.
* SourSupporter: She is quite cynical and especially abrasive towards Jun. A stark contrast to Eda.
* TooMuchAlike: [[spoiler:As it turns out, one reason to why her relationship with Jun is so toxic is simply due to the fact that they are far more similar to each other than she wants to admit]].

* WrenchWench: She is the one responsible for keeping the Red Chamber in working order as well as making any upgrades the crew needs.
* {{Yandere}}: [[spoiler:She is extremely protective of Eda to the point that she is constantly looking for ways to get Jun out of the picture due to her viewing him as a threat]].

* KnightInSourArmor: As a veteran of the Lumen War and friend of Red she helps Eda best she can, though not without plenty of stern warnings and cynical advise at how foolish she is being.
* UncertainDoom: [[spoiler:After the disbandment of the Lumen association she vanished and was never heard from again]].

!!Red Grant

* TheAtoner: She is trying to atone for all the death and destruction she caused during the Lumen War by entering in the flower trading business.
* NeverFoundTheBody: It is pretty clear to most that Red is already dead after having vanished 5 years prior despite how much Eda wants to believe otherwise. [[spoiler:Eda eventually comes to accept this reality, but still wants to at least find Red's body so that she can get some closure, a task she eventually succeeds in but in doing so also sealing her own fate]].
* SternTeacher: She acted as an incredibly stern mentor towards Eda and didn't mince words, though she did all this cause she ultimately cared for her.

* BoxedCrook: He ends up serving United Mining as a way to reduce his sentence.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:While he starts out antagonistic, he eventually helps out Jun when he finds himself in a tight spot twice over]].
