* XanatosGambit: Vegapunk's DeadMansSwitch puts the World Government (the most likely people who'd want him dead) in a lose-lose situation. [[ItsTheOnlyWayToBeSure The only surefire way to stop his broadcast]] would also completely destroy Egghead in the resulting explosion, [{PyrrhicVictory taking all of the technology they'd be wanting]], but if they don't, he'll reveal all the secrets [[HeKnowsTooMuch they've wiped out entire islands just to hide]]. Either Vegapunk keeps his tech out of their hands or reveals their darkest secrets, both of which are successfully screwing the World Government.

* MenAreTheExpendableGender: Shaka, Pythagoras, and the Stella died during the Egghead arc, with Edison also being badly wounded [[spoiler:even before diving through the Labophase barrier]]. Atlas, York, and Lilith, the female satellites, however, survive fine.

* BrainInAJar: Vegapunk's brain is kept in a massive tank at the top of Punk Records, allowed to grow independent of his body while an antenna allows his original body to continue to function. [[spoiler:Even after Vegapunk's heart has stopped, his brain lives on, leading Mars to speculate on the nature of death and if the real Vegapunk is still alive somewhere in there.]]

* ThePerfectionist: Vegapunk considers his attempt to recreate Kaido's Devil Fruit a complete failure simply because the resulting dragon transformation was colored pink instead of blue. When he is about to make his big announcement to the world he decides it's better to give ten minutes to everyone to get comfy and deploy their pro-snails before revealing that [[spoiler:he is dead and the world is sinking]].

Either Vegapunk kept his tech out of their hands or reveals their darkest secrets, both of which are successfully screwing the World Government.

* DidntSeeThatComing: His 10-minute delay before starting the broadcast of "the truth of the world" was meant to be a way to let ''everyone'' see it. However, he was seemingly unaware of Saturn's ability to summon the other Elders, which leads to ''all five of them'' assaulting Egghead in order to stop the truth from being revealed, with the clear implication that they might be able to stop the broadcast before it begins.

** He prepared for the possibility someone might try to stop the broadcast his DeadMansSwitch will begin...so he hid decoys ''all over his lab'', all with the exact same signal, so that the only surefire way of stopping it would be to raze the entire island, destroying all the valuable technology within and denying his likely killers the prize they sought.
