* NotSoDifferent: From her sister. While Pop is TheAce and Doremi is a clumsy LoserProtagonist, they actually have a lot in common. They are both TheHeart and TheLeader of their group of friends, very helpful and protective towards the other students of their class, they act the same way when they have a crush, both can be stubborn and prone to anger. And they both a rivalry with an AlphaBitch classmate, Doremi with Reika Tamaki, and Pop with Reika's cousin Erika, as lampshaded in-universe, and both have a BelligerentSexualTension relationship with one of their classmates.

* DemotedToExtra: In ''Dokkan'', she had little to no CharacterDevelopment (mainly because ''Motto'' gave her enough of it) or memorable moments, almost to the point where you could easily erase her from the script without affecting the main storyline.

Doremi Harukaze is the titular girl and main protagonist of the series. She has a good nature, but she is clumsy and chronically unlucky. Her good nature has drawn many TrueCompanions to her over the course of the series.

She became an apprentice when she called Majo Rika a "Witch", inadvertently triggering an age-old curse that [[BalefulPolymorph turns Witches in Witch Frogs]] when they're uncovered. To undo the curse, Doremi has to become stronger and become a full-fledged Witch. Along the way, she uses her new found magic to help other people through their problems, but she has to keep it a secret.

Hazuki is Doremi's best friend at the start of the series and is usually considered the second Witch Apprentice. She is a shy but very kind-hearted girl who would help virtually anyone.

She became an apprentice along with new girl Aiko when they follow Doremi to the shop after one of Doremi's spells backfired. She and Aiko both called Doremi a Witch, but Doremi wasn't cursed because she wasn't a full-fledged Witch yet. Majo Rika made her into an apprentice to help keep the secret.

Aiko is Doremi's second best friend who moved in from Osaka. She upstaged a lot of students and quickly got on Doremi's bad side at first, but her going to Aiko's house and seeing Aiko's father sparked a change of heart. When it became clear that Aiko's dad wouldn't make it to a parent-teacher meeting, Doremi used her magic to make a temporary clone, unaware that the real one made it after all.

Aiko became an apprentice when she and Hazuki followed Doremi to the shop after Doremi's spell backfired. There, she and Hazuki learned that Doremi was a Witch Apprentice and that they, in order to keep the secret, would have to become Apprentices, too.

Pop is Doremi's younger sister and tends to be rather snarky about Doremi's tendencies. She secretly admires her, but she is more responsible and more serious than Doremi. She has several friends at the Kindergarten.

She became an Apprentice when Majo Rika, out of desperation to get away from her to help the Ojamajos against Majo Ruka, stopped pretending to be a plush doll and fled. Pop followed her to the shop and confronted the girls on what was happening. Majo Rika made her an apprentice so as to, once again, keep the secret. She proves herself to be more capable a Witch than Doremi, but her inability to stay up late locks her at the bottom level until ''Sharp''.

Onpu is a wildly popular child idol and a prodigy Witch apprentice. She initially appears as nice and friendly, but she quickly identifies herself as their rival soon after. She causes trouble for the girls, either deliberately or as collateral damage from wanting to get away from her own troubles.

She became an apprentice when she caught and called Majo Ruka a witch, resulting in her being cursed. After hearing about Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko from Majo Ruka, Onpu becomes resolved to outclass them. She was even given a charm that would let her withstand the punishment from using forbidden magic, and she abused it a lot over the series. As the series went on, she takes levels in kindness with occasional PetTheDog moments before cementing a HeelFaceTurn by saving the other Ojamajos from being cursed, officially joining the group come ''Sharp''.

Momoko, introduced in ''Motto'', has lived in New York City for most of her life. She moved to Japan when her father's work transferred him there, but she had a lot of trouble adapting due to the language barrier. The Ojamajos helped a great deal to overcome that, and she admitted that she would most certainly have hated Japan had it not been for them, particularly Doremi.

She became an Apprentice when she discovered that the kind old woman, called Majo Monroe, who helped her when she first moved to America was in fact a Witch. She inadvertently cursed her and resolved to become a full-fledged Witch so as to one day turn her back. She succeeded, but Majo Monroe was already terminally ill and dying. Momoko received Majo Monroe's most prized possession before passing, but Momoko didn't want her to die. Momoko's attempt to bring back the deceased Majo Monroe shattered her Crystal, costing her her magic but sparing her from death had she succeeded. When she moved back to Japan, the Queen offered her the chance to once again become a Witch if she aided the Ojamajos with their own quest. She accepted, and she joined the group from there.

Hana, introduced in ''Sharp'', is a baby born from the Blue Rose in the Witch Queen's garden. As Doremi, Hazuki, Aiko, and Onpu were the first ones to see her, they had to take care of her and raise her. She starts off as TheLoad since she is incapable of truly acting for herself as a newborn and she tended to get sick at the drop of a hat. This became an EscortMission when the Wizards got involved, who wanted to exploit her powerful magic to save their race from extinction.

Hana's powerful magic also attracted the ire of the [[BigBad Witch Queen from two reigns ago]], who tried to kill her towards the end of ''Sharp'' and continued to impede her throughout ''Motto'' before trying to kill her again.

She became an Apprentice when she, having grown bored of the Witch World, aged herself up to go be with her "Mamas"; this act shattered her pendent and locked her out of becoming next in line to be the Queen. As an apprentice, she didn't take keeping the secret as seriously as everyone else and used magic to cause mischief every now and then. In any case, she proved herself to have a good heart in that she does things with the best of intentions.

* OnlyChildSyndrome: Doremi and Pop are the only Ojamajos with siblings. [[spoiler:Aiko was supposed to have a younger sibling until her mother had a miscarriage.]]

* CharacterDevelopment: The series is more about the girls growing up through their various interpersonal conflicts than it really is about learning magic. The show doesn't end until the girls have graduated from elementary school [[spoiler:and prepared themselves to pursue different paths rather than going into the same middle school together.]]

* NotSoDifferent: From her sister. While Pop is TheAce and Doremi is a clumsy LoserProtagonist, they actually have a lot in common. They are both TheHeart and TheLeader of their group of friends, very helpful and protective towards the other students of their class, they act the same way when they have a crush, and both can be stubborn and prone to anger. And they both a rivalry with an AlphaBitch classmate, Doremi with Reika Tamaki, and Pop with Reika's cousin Erika, as lampshaded in-universe.

* RenaissanceMan: She is able to play the violin, an electric keyboard, do ballet, do traditional japanese dance, calligraphy, be a director, knit, sew, swim, and whatever else her mother wishes to get her involved in.

* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade E, in her normal outfit. [[BareYourMidriff Not that she really needs it any higher...]]

* TheCutie: All of them look adorable due to the show's cutesy art style, and they are very kind and innocent girls. It helps that they are younger than the usual MagicalGirl, being still elementary school little girls.
