* BadassBaritone: In the anime, his short stature belies a rather deep voice.

* InformedAttribute: Surprisingly, Hakagure's official intelligence stat is 4/5, [[GeniusBall but she didn't have an opportunity to showcase it]. Doesn't help her stat is bigger than many of her classmates and that at the first written tests she scored at 16th place, much lower than f.e. Jiro who has 3/5 intelligence stat and has 7th place.

* WeakButSkilled: Her ability is great for stealth, but not that good for combat. [[FullFrontalAssault Her needing to discard clothing to make full use of her powers]] also means she has little to no defenses and is pretty vulnerable to getting attacked, not to mention being ExposedToTheElements constantly. Shoto beats her simply by turning the interior of a building sub-zero, sticking her exposed soles to the ground and warning her that she could tear the skin off her feet if she moves . Nonetheless, she seems capable to hold herself in a fight, as shown in the Hero License Exam and how she was able to pass the U.A. Entrance Exam.

The carnage that happens during the Training Camp arc spells out how dangerous Dark Shadow could be after it turns gigantic and Tokoyami struggles to keep him at bay. [[spoiler:The League of Villains even try to kidnap him for the same reason as Bakugo in an attempt to recruit him]].

* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:Arrives just in time riding on a flying Tokoyami to save Hawks from getting blasted out of the air by [[BigBad All For One himself.]]]]

** Seems to have one with Yaoyorozu. Yaoyorozu's a sweet TeenGenius, while Jiro's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who has a very unsophisticated Quirk and lifestyle.

* FriendlyRivalry: Formed one with Kendo during the Joint Training Arc. Kendo was disheartened over the fact she and Yaoyorozu were treated as a package deal despite feeling Yaoyorozu got better grades and had a better Quirk, and revealed she desired to face off with Yaoyorozu, something Yaoyorozu was happy to oblige with. It helps that outside of training, the two have gotten along swimmingly thanks to their joint internship under Uwabami.
* GoGetterGirl: Is focused on academic studies and becoming a heroine, which shows in her class grades and rank, but falls into HeroicSelfDeprecation at times.

* AttackReflector: After some training, she learned to use her light manipulation abilities to reflect light-based attacks, such as Aoyama's [[EnergyWeapon Navel Laser]].[[spoiler: This is what allows her to save Izuku from Aoyama's laser in chapter 337]].

* BewareTheSillyOnes: His costume looks ridicilous, amd his quirk is usually regarded as dumb (even Mineta thinks so) but if done well, he can be a rough obstacle, as shown at first in USJ arc.

Earlier he used to wet himself at the mere thought of facing off real villains, but once Midoriya dropped out of UA, he volunteered along with the rest of the class 1-A to bring him back, knowing fully well that he is being directly targetted by [[TheDreaded Shigaraki and All For One]] and the hero society has more or less collapsed.]]

** While he is a HormoneAddledTeenager and is occasionally jealous of his [[ChickMagnet hotter classmates]], he genuinely cares about the ones he truly sees as friends, shedding TearsOfJoy when Bakugo recovers after fighting [[BigBad Shigaraki]] in the Paranormal Liberation war and [[spoiler:volunteering to bring Midoriya back to UA after he dropped out to keep the others safe and openly telling him how much he means to him, with or without a quirk]].

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Mineta may be a huge sleaze but he does demonstrate loyalty to his classmates. To complete the final exams, all he has to do is pass through the escape gate after incapacitating Midnight, but he took the time to drag his unconscious partner Sero with him. He truly does care for rest of students and especially Midoriya as well, quickly dismissing the news of him being a mass murderer in the third movie and [[spoiler: is the most desperate to comfort him when he returns to U.A. and breaks down into tears. He is also quite nice to Shoji, especially after learning of his DarkAndTroubledPast. Earlier he openly shed TearsOfJoy when [[TheFriendNobodyLikes Bakugo]] woke up in the hospital after the Paranormal Liberation War.]]

* MadeOfIron: Gets a lot of punishment done to him (mainly comical but was once hit full on by a giant 0-pointer robot)and wasn't any worse for wear. Shows again during the Provisional License Arc, where he threw so many of his balls that he was barely able to walk over and eliminate at least one other student. His Quirk doesn't have anything to do with stamina.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Gets her time to shine during Final Exams arc.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Gets some focus on his backstory with Koda during Final War.

* GentleGiant: He is noticeably taller than most of his classmates, enough to carry two of them on his back, but he's one of the kinder members of Class 1-A. [[spoiler:This makes his RageBreakingPoint by the various heteromorph civilians supporting the villains out of their anger against the FantasticRacism they experienced more pronounced, as he points out how [[ShutUpHannibal they're endangering innocent civilians]] contained within the hospital out of their [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse blind anger towards society]], whereas the heroes have made very effort to protect those same people]].

* GoodScarsEvilScars: [[spoiler:Bears a Glasgow smile beneath his mask after somebody attacked him prior to coming to U.A., but it doesn't do too much to detract from his overall appearance. He ultimately doesn't look that bad even without it either, and you'd be hard pressed to find a sweeter boy anywhere. As he elaborates, he covers the scars up with his mask not because he's ashamed of them, or afraid to show them to others, but combined with his heteromorph quirk they make it clear to an outside observer that he's suffered from FantasticRacism in the past, and since Shoji aims to become the kind of hero who passes down 'good memories' to future generations in hopes of eventually removing this discrimination and prejudice, he hides them so others won't assume he's out for revenge for his prior mistreatment]].

* HiddenDepths: Apart from a desk and a futon, Shoji's room is completely empty. He explains that it's because he hasn't had any "worldly desires" ever since he was young, complete with Todoroki identifying him as a minimalist. His flashback in Chapter 371 puts a [[DarkAndTroubledPast darker spin]] on this [[spoiler: by implying that he was never afforded any luxuries beyond the barest necessities because of his appearance]].

* HypocrisyNod: [[spoiler: He tells an apologetic Mineta that he thought nothing of him [[InnocentlyInsensitive calling him an octopus]], noting that aside from considering it a natural reaction, he himself likes to watch things like "Heroes that look like villains" Ranking despite his own experiences with FantastcRacism.]]

* WouldHitAGirl: When Toga pinned down an incapacitated Izuku during the kidnapping of Bakugo by the League of villains, he didn't hesitate one-second in slapping her away. Justified because had he not intervened, Toga was fully intending to stab Izuku, potentially fatally.

* ADayInTheLimelight: Gets a big focus during the School Festival Arc.

* ShipTease: With Kaminari. Though they undoubtedly start out as VitriolicBestBuds, she becomes flustered around him after he praises her musical skills. Later, she is the first person he focuses on when Midnight tells him to think of the most important person to him during the Liberation War to gather courage, while the two are seen together in hospital during the arc's denouement.

* CovertPervert: During the Provisional Hero License Exam Arc in the anime, Sero is flustered when Midoriya tells him and Uraraka that Camie, turned into the latter. He then asks whether or not Camie is naked in her Uraraka disguise. He then shares this information with the two-class perverts.

* UnskilledButStrong: His Quirk at max power can easily beat enemies that even [[TheAce Todoroki]] or [[GeniusBruiser Bakugo]] would have trouble with, and it's implied that in this state, only All Might can match him power for power. But his control over this form is very limited. He eventually gets around this by developing his Ragnarok technique, which lets Dark Shadow off the leash just long enough to deliever an attack. This also showcases just ''how'' strong he is, as he's able to [[spoiler:shatter All For One's life support helmet to pieces after Jiro and Hawks damaged it. His ''max'' power is so immense even All For One realizes he ''has'' to dodge his attacks.]]

* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Dark Shadow is given very rough pencil shading, a clear contrast to the clean lines and ink of other characters. In the anime Dark Shadow's shading is re-rendered each frame, making his more etherial form even more apparent.

* StringyHairedGhostGirl: It's human form in chapter 84 of ''My Hero Academia Smash!!'' is designed like this, being a small girl with long, messy black hair wearing an oversized white teeshirt.

* BareYourMidriff: This is largely justified due to how Yaoyorozu's power works. Any object she generates comes directly from her body, meaning she needs a large enough area of bare skin to pull the object out of. She can (and does) generate smaller items out of her hands or side, but large objects have to be created out of areas like the midriff or back, and generally having as much skin exposed as possible is an advantage. As a result, unlike many other costumes, her costume leaves a much larger percentage of her skin. She also unzipped her tracksuit during the U.A. Sports Festival to reveal a sports bra that gave her access to her midriff.

* NoPronunciationGuide: English-speaking viewers are likely to pronounce his first name as "Fumi-cage", but the correct pronunciation is "Fu-mi-kah-geh".

* ACupAngst: She appears to be sensitive about having the smallest cup size in class. [[ArentYouGoingToRavishMe She even got upset]] when [[DirtyKid Mineta]] went on a rant about the girls he wanted to peep on, and she was the only one who ''wasn't'' mentioned. This seems to have been averted in official New Years artwork by Horikoshi on Twitter where she is shown to have the same cup size as Uraraka.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Downplayed. While she isn't exactly the nicest person, and can be quite snarky, she's still a supportive, caring friend towards other classmates. Best shown when she tries to encourage Koda to do his best during their final exam.

* MsFanservice: Not so much in the Anime or Manga, but the New Years artwork by Horikoshi on Twitter shows her cosplaying as Mirko wearing the same leotard as her an poses in a way which shows off her figure quite nicely.

** His hero costume features one. This is justified, as Dark Shadow is WeakenedByTheLight, so the cape keeps it in shadow.

Once All For One is restored to his prime and begins blasting away the heroes, looking for an opening to steal some Quirks and head to Shigaraki, Tokoyami sneaks up behind him and overwhelms him with a similar fearsome pressure that All For One inflicts upon his enemies with the aid of Pixie-Bob and the storm providing the darkness necessary to amplify is powers.]]

Later in the story, this seems to be the case of EarlyInstallamentWeirdness, with that trait taken by Tsuyu.
