* CompositeCharacter: She has the general appearance of her comic book counterpart, as well as being a LoveInterest for Tony, but several aspects of her personality (particularly her hyper-competence) borrow a lot from Bambi Arbogast, the older woman whom Tony hires as her replacement after she's PutOnABus in the comics. (Bambi herself -- in a much younger incarnation -- briefly appears in ''Iron Man 2'' and has a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance as ''Pepper's'' new PA in ''Iron Man 3'', presumably having replaced Natasha Romanov).

* DemotedToExtra: She tends to get smaller and less important roles in her appearances outside the Iron Man films.

* {{Motormouth}}: In the first two ''Iron Man'' movies, she usually manages to counteract Tony's own fast-talking and wall of sarcasm by just talking over him. Though sometimes even Tony can't get a word in edgeways.

* BlueIsHeroic: In ''Endgame'', she wears the blue-colored R.E.S.C.U.E. iron suit to combat Thanos.

** In ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'', Tony says they're taking a break. It is a possible ActorAllusion to Gwyneth's "conscious uncoupling" with her husband Chris Martin.
** ''Endgame'' marks her final major appearance in the MCU.

* SpannerInTheWorks: Had Pepper not kept Tony's first arc reactor and give it back to him, he would've been without a power source for his armor/pacemaker after Iron Monger took his new one, leaving him to die and allowing Stane to go unopposed.

** {{Subverted|Trope}} in ''Iron Man 2''. Tony Stark ''expects'' this to happen with Pepper and the new aide Natasha, but the two of them get along fine. Pepper takes it as a sign of Tony's arrogance that he'd assume another LoveTriangle would form over him.

* ArtificialIntelligence: Not nearly as advanced as J.A.R.V.I.S or F.R.I.D.A.Y. It can't talk, it has trouble following instructions and isn't particularly brilliant (hence Tony calling it "Dum-E"), but it's nonetheless capable of showing disappointment, joy, following order and initiative to save Tony by handing him his arc reactor. Overall Dum-E is more akin to a loyal dog than a butler.

** A darker running gag is it being a victim of the location it's in getting blown up. It happens in ''Iron Man 3'' when Tony's house is destroyed by AIM but it is shown to have survived and been salvaged in ''Film/SpiderManHomecoming'' as part of the Avengers supplies being shipped from the Tower to the new Avengers Compound....which was bombed into rubble by Thanos in ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' and Dum-E survived THAT as well making it to Happy's apartment in ''Film/SpiderManNoWayHome'' [[spoiler:Which is ALSO blown up by Green Goblin. It's current fate is unknown although given how Dum-E survived two OTHER home bombings.....]]

* BreakingPointSwearing: When he's trying to convince Peggy that Dooley's death isn't her fault, his StiffUpperLip fractures just a bit, blaming it on "Mr. Stark's ''bloody'' inventions".

* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob: He very much acts like this in Season 2 of ''Series/AgentCarter''. While he does spend a lot of his time trying to shoot movies and drink away his problems with many gorgeous women, he immediately drops everything to help Peggy when it comes to resolving the Zero Matter crisis.

* PrecisionFStrike: When he's trying to convince Peggy that Dooley's death isn't her fault, his StiffUpperLip fractures just a bit, blaming it on "Mr. Stark's ''bloody'' inventions".

* RunningGag: In the first film, Dum-E manning the fire extinguisher while Tony works on his armors and being way too enthusiastic about spraying him with it.

* LadykillerInLove: Howard was a famous playboy but settle down after finding love with Maria.

** A flashback in ''Film/AntMan1'' shows that he attempted to replicate his S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague Hank Pym's shrinking technology behind his back for use in other weapons and technology. When Hank, who had keep the tech to himself to ensure it wouldn't be misused by others, discovers this, he is furious, resigns from S.H.I.E.L.D., and cuts off all contact with Howard. Hank is so bitter about it that he refused to reach out to Howard's son Tony and the Avengers to share his technology in the modern day.

* ConstantlyCurious: According to Tony, Morgan is eternally fascinated with the workshop/storage area in the garage. She also seems to make a regular habit of "borrowing" her mother's Rescue helmet to tinker with and play with, and she sometimes sneaks out of bed to watch her father work.

* WalkingSpoiler: Her entire existence spoils the fact that Tony, after years of struggle and a ten-year on/off relationship with Pepper, finally managed to retire and build the family he always wanted and provides a justification for why the Avengers simply undo the Snap rather than prevent it from ever happening in the first place.

** Calls Pepper "the best thing that's ever happened to [Tony]", and is concerned about her possibly falling for Killian if Tony continues to neglect her. In ''Film/SpiderManHomecoming'' it's revealed that he's been carrying around an engagement ring for Tony to give to Pepper since ''2008''. That was before they even became a couple!
** For Peter and MJ as well. Before the final fight in London in ''Far From Home'', Peter asks him to deliver the black dahlia necklace he bought for MJ to her in case something happens to her. Happy refuses, insisting he’s going to be just fine, and wanting ''him'' to give it to her instead. Circumstances do eventually lead to him giving her the necklace offscreen, though, and it turns out to be the final piece needed to finally prod MJ to confess her feelings for Peter. In ''No Way Home'', when he walks in on Peter and MJ apparently about to have sex (they weren’t, MJ was trying to calm Peter down while he was changing in a panic), Happy immediately averts his eyes and awkwardly insists he didn’t see anything, and like May, encourages them to carry on ''safely''.

* {{Oireland}}: Her accent. Some people think that she sounds affected, but that's her actress Kerry Condon's actual Tipperary accent.
